I went there 2 times and both times they were closed within the hours that they were supposed to be open. Never trying them again.

But in recent years, the Nardellis have franchised the family business and now you can find Nardelli's Grinder Shoppes all over Connecticut. Today I went to the Meriden store on East Main Street. Being that I am 3/4 Italian, I love to walk into the stores to the smells that fill the air of eggplant parm, meatballs, sausage, chicken cutlet, hot peppers, and many other Italian specialties. Today I ordered lite and just had the Chicken Tortilla Soup. A little spicy and delicious. It's not easy just ordering soup when you want everything in the case. Not to mention, the desserts like fresh cannolis and tiramisu. If you've never been to Nardelli's, put some money in the tip jar and see what happens. read more

Fantastic subs. My roast beef grinder was one of the best I've ever had and if you look at my other reviews you'll see I'm kind of a pain. Excellent friendly service. They care about getting it right. I can't tell you how many times I have seen the opposite. Concentrate on my sandwich dammit. If I'm dropping 10 bucks, I want this to be what I asked for. They get it right. My only gripe is that they seem to be only to n Connecticut and I want them in upstate NY lol. read more

There are too many wonderful things to say about this Nardelli's location to capture in one review, but I will try! I started going here for lunch about two years ago and have become a 'regular' ever since. The food is great and there is a wide variety of selection, but it is truly the quality of character that the employees possess that make my experiences so pleasant. I have developed a genuine friendship with the staff and I always leave laughing and smiling. I can confidently say, this is The Best Nardelli's location in all of their establishments. They deserve the highest level of recognition for the customer service that they provide and other locations should use them as a benchmark for the Nardelli's Franchise! Grazie! read more

I love this place. Walk in and you hear someone yell "welcome" from behind the counter. Very friendly and helpful staff. I always order the whole Italian grinder. This thing is fresh, loaded with stuff and the "mix" is very cool. The mix is a bunch of chopped veggies. They will customize your sub any way you like including doing a "panini" to it. The bread is fresh and very good as well. If you want a treat buy a jar of the stuffed peppers. They are to die for. Great heat and great flavor. I think they are only in CT so I always make it a point to find one when I am up from GA. read more

I discovered Nardelli's when they opened in Middletown. Simply THE BEST. I was very happy when they opened in Meriden. I went to the Meriden location on opening night and it is consistent with the other Nardelli's I've been to. The food is fresh and the variety is terrific. I have not had any grinder that I did not like. Italian Combo is the best I've had. Buffalo chicken is the bomb. The only thing I would like to see is having the option to have peppers and onion on a sausage grinder for those of us who don't like or can't eat peppers or onions. The sausage, peppers and onion are already prepared and mixed together. I have found the staff in Meriden to be very accommodating and friendly. This is my 'go to' place for grinders. read more

Great place with great employees. Went there for supper and was very impressed how friendly and helpful the employees were. They didn't rush us to order, which is good because they have so much to choose from. The food was great and everything was fresh. Visit 6/2... Whenever anyone asks me where to get a good sandwich in Meriden my first word is always Nardelli's. On this specific visit I was turning a friend on to their first "Nard" and it didn't disappoint. I like when I recommend something and they like it. I had my chicken cutlet wheat wrap with the veggie mix and my co-worker had chicken salad which was really plentiful. I love the multigrain chips. My biggest criticism of Nards is how loud the help is...they are the nicest...sweetest...most energetic kids ever and they work super super hard. But the place is LOUD! Is there a noise the help back there competes with they need to shout over? Overall I love this place...this is really like a 4 1/2 but they don't offer that. read more

Four stars for their grinders, two stars for their salads (at least the chef salad). Nardelli's uses a decent amount of deli meat in their grinders, the bread is always fresh and delicious, and the other standard ingredients always taste fresh. I should have stuck with the grinder. Today, I ordered a chef salad and it was just so sad looking. I'm annoyed that I didn't take a picture just so you get a sense of what was coming if you ordered a salad from here. Everything tasted great and was fresh, but not what I was expecting for an $8 salad. There were three little 1 inch rolls of deli meat and cheese, half of an egg, four half cucumber slices, a few marinated mushrooms, two olives, a decent amount of cherry tomatoes, a handful of their chopped up veggie mix thrown in, and of course lettuce. I was definitely hoping for more deli meat (supposedly the main part of the salad), and overall a salad that actually filled the container. The mushrooms, olives and veggie mix were odd choices, and seemed like they were added at the end to make the salad seem more substantial. I would not recommend this place if you're looking for a decent salad. read more

Nardelli's was good. The second I walked in, I instantly noticed how friendly the people are and they were helpful since I had never been before. They have a large assortment of deli meat and creations and lots of salads, desserts and other things. I had the Italian whole grinder and it was good. There was little too much bread for my usual liking but the meat was good. Not a cheap lunch, but it was pretty good all the way around. I'd go back. read more

Great sandwich selection! First stop in on a visit home, got the chicken cutlet with everything on it. Absolutely delicious. The 1/2 is definitely more than large enough for one person and prices from $5-7. Extremely friendly and courteous staff behind the counter. Quick and efficient. The bread holds up well, the chicken warm and lightly breaded, great lettuce/cucumber/pepper mix/blend. Stop by if you're in the area and craving a sandwich. Great location for easy off easy on I-91. Had the roast beef grinder, made exactly as requested and just a kick butt sandwich. Throw in some kettle chips, a cold, small batch root beer and it just doesn't get any better. Super clean, fast happy service - all good. I've been to this location 3 times, Waterbury twice, Southbury once and Southington twice and they are all consistently great. Meriden is my favorite of the bunch - I think its because the owner started in Waterbury. read more

Food is good and size is great, pulled pork is great! I wanted it plain and it came with a pound of pork. So full after half of it! We bought three sub's and only paid 30 not bad at all. I just tried this last week for the first time and came twice since last week. read more

Stopped in for lunch today, it was clean and initially felt inviting...when it came time to place my order I felt very rushed by the male employee that was working. He asked me how I was and I barely got to respond before he asked me what I wanted. His body language was completely disengaged, he wasn't facing me when he was speaking to me. Surprisingly it was not busy so I was not sure why I was so rushed..when I got my grinder it had olives and I had asked no olives. what is more critical than the time-it-takes-to-be-served are the feelings customers take away from a service experience -- however long it might take.... read more

Nardelli's is great! I eat there as often as possible. Whether it's an Italian combo grinder or a salad it's always delicious. I've never left there hungry. What sets the Meriden location apart from the others is the customer service! All the employees are always very helpful and do their jobs with a smile. I have an addiction to Nardelli's. Each store I have been to is excellent. Always very knowledgeable and quick employees - I have no idea how they can do it.if you ask a question they have the answer immediately and have never gotten a sandwich wrong for me yet. As a waitress I am always impressed when I go here, what they do is not easy- please tip they really deserve it!! I went to this location for the first time and I was very happy with the service I received. Of course they were quick and efficient, but the staff was also openly very friendly and happy to help with our large order - we didn't feel like we were annoying anyone by getting a bunch of things. As small as that sounds it does make a big difference to customers. I spoke a little to the owner I believe - and she was SO nice. You can't train staff to be this great. I have to say I am really surprised to read some of these reviews. I've been going to the Meriden Nardellis since they opened last year and I love it!! The entire experience is great..there is an insane selection of sandwiches plus lots of salads and desserts! The Italian Combo with everything is my favorite...yumm!! Pair that with a cheesecake parfait and your tastebuds have never been so happy. Lol. The service has always been great, the girls are always friendly and helpful... I truely believe some of these reviews must be from a different place because, I cannot see how anyone can leave there unhappy. Keep doing what you're doing Nardellis! I was so looking forward to grabbing a couple of grinders/subs for dinner. We have had sandwiches from Nardellis in the past and it's always been good. The original in Waterbury was delicious and so was their second store. Now that they have expanded, however the last two times have been disappointing. The rolls=average. The meat was not very plentiful as in the past. They didn't get the order right. The signature sauce was scarce too and that's the best part. It's just not the same blend of ingredients on a roll that was so impressive when we started going there. All that said, it was a disappointing salad experience too. The tomato/mozzarella only tasted like garlic and cheese didn't have much flavor. Usually it tastes fresh, but it tasted run of the mill. The cavatelli and broccoli salad was painfully dry and again, the main flavor was garlic. It's really too bad because we used to love their food. Perhaps they have lost a little in quality as they expanded. read more

Grinders are excellent. However, the staff are extremely annoying with the "Grazie!!!!" and ring of a bell when someone tips. I want to eat there but can't stay for more than the time it takes to order. Most annoying experience in a long time. read more
