Hidden Gem for Affordable Sushi in San Diego:) I've been coming to Sushi Man for years and finally decided it's time to leave a review. This spot has been around for over a decade, and for good reason -- it consistently delivers solid, tasty sushi at incredibly low prices. Now, I know (low-cost sushi)might raise eyebrows, but trust me, this place is good enough to satisfy your cravings without breaking the bank. It's not a five-star fine dining experience, but it's perfect for a casual sushi run. If you're in the College Area near the 24 Hour Fitness in San Diego, definitely check them out. They offer daily specials, so there's always something new to try at a great price. I've literally had everything on the menu -- yes, everything -- and it's all been good. Thumbs up to Sushi Man for consistency and value. pro tip: If you're throwing a party, birthday, or event, they offer super affordable sushi platters. Call ahead or stop by to order -- you'll impress your guests without overspending.

Wow oh wow. Had some maki after a rough leg day next door. The place is a great vibe and feels very family run and hole in the wall. The maki was delicious and the lady at the front was very nice. Definitely will be back soon; especially with the pricing being very reasonable. Quick, delicious, well priced. What else do you need. Also the gyoza or potstickers were amazing. Definitely could have downed like 10 orders of them and the spam masubi.

This place is very nostalgic for me! My youngest daughter love coming here when she's in elementary school and she's 21 now. She still love the food! She would order the udon with spam musubi and Inari. I would order the bento box or sushi. Her older sister would order the bento box with the musubi. We all love the food! We've tried many dishes and they are all delicious!! The service has always been amazing!! They are so patient and quick! I've eaten here and bought food to go! They are always consistent and very hospitable. Amazing service!! The place is quiet!! There's quite a bit of seating, bathroom, and good parking. They do share parking with other establishment and 24 hrs Fitness. The place is always quiet , but smells delicious when you walk by.

You might want to try going to sushi man. I've been going here for long time and it's always. Yummy yummy shushing My favorite is the caterpillar Roll , Crunchy Dragon Roll, Spider Roll, you have try udon noodles here are the bond. Sometimes I might get to try the sashimi bento box with tempura shrimp there. Service not the best. Just have a good laughs with some guys and gals It's pretty decent family place to get a good meal. I love going here. I've here many times before. You like sunshine and children's can maki here. Try the teriyaki chicken and beef without too much hassle and the platter it's yummy sushi platter that might cost an bit 25 or so money okie. And remember to ask for miso soup because they stingie on miso soup and charge .25 cent for like 3 miso soup.

Great sushi, prices, parking, and service. I either call in or order there and the food is always ready to go in about 15mins.

I usually go here for food orders since they're super easy to deal with and are very fast with food preparation! I like to go online and see the menu before ordering but they are always very helpful with questions about the menu. It is located in a big plaza with plenty of parking. You can also eat inside (no outside seating) which typically doesn't get too busy inside. The prices are cheap for sushi which is a big reason why I come here. They also aren't stingy with soy sauce, wasabi, ginger, etc. so long as you get a reasonable amount for your entire order! I included a picture of the daily specials!

I got the crunch maki and teriyaki chicken bento. It was a lot of food and reasonably priced. I like how the sushi rolls come with a side salad, gyoza, and edamame. Food was delicious and flavorful. Would definitely recommend this place.

SushiMan probably has some of the best priced daily combos and bento sets in SD but the quality falls short. =GOOD= *Service: friendly and fast. They also take call-in orders. Had our order ready in 10 minutes despite having several orders ahead of us. *Ahi Tuna Nigiri: average size and not fishy. Decent for $3.99 price. =MEH= *My Nigiri Bento: included two tuna, two salmon, one shrimp, one egg, one yellowtail and two spicy tuna nigiri. Tuna wasn't fishy. Spicy tuna was very soft and not overly spicy. Egg was sweet and dense. Salmon and shrimp were fishy and the shrimp had a funky aftertaste. Yellowtail was inedible--I couldn't bite through the fish. Resembled undercooked cartilage. The below average taste from my varied nigiri bento spoke wonders regarding seafood quality. Tuna seemed to be consistently better than the rest but it still would be beneath my average sushi restaurant. Beware of the good prices because it comes at a cost in quality. However, if you want quantity while being budget friendly, this is a reasonable spot. Glad to report no food poisoning but proceed cautiously.

    211. Rainbow Maki w/ a couple edamame, couple gyoza and bit of salad. Pretty decent.

Ordered take-out for lunch through grub hub, and it wasn't the best sushi ever, but pretty good. I tried the standard rainbow roll; it came w/ 2 edamame and 2 pan-fried dumplings. Got a side of dumplings, but they were just steamed, and kind of flavorless. Not sure I'd order here again, but got our sushi fix.

It's good ,I was surprised had no idea what I was going to get! I got the spicy salmon maka and was happy they give you a salad and dumplings as well . So I ended up ordering something else and it was a salmon roll called Alaskan . It was okay. ‍ for the type establishment I didn't expect it's to be crazy fancy. Not a waitress as you order at counter i except it to be more of a quick place to grab sone sushi to kill a sushi craving! Prices are fair !

I am unsure if they are all family but one of the workers daughters was also running around and helping out/interacting with the guests. I'd come back here just based on the positive vibes alone. Besides the service though I ended up ordering a spicy basil with chicken and I did not realize they'd give out the rice in a heart shaped but I thought it was nice touch. The dish overall was solid; good amount of spice, plenty of meat//veggies and a flavorful sauce that complimented it all. One of the workers also came by and just randomly gave me a Thai tea and said it was on the house. The Thai tea itself was good as well, just the right balance of milk, sugar and tea. If I still lived near SDSU I would definitely return here!

I was born and raised in LA, so I've had a lot of Chinese food growing up, and I wasn't expecting to be this surprised--but I really was. I ordered the black bean eggplant and the salt and pepper chicken wings. The wings are what they're known for, but I have to start with the eggplant because it completely caught me off guard. It wasn't mushy at all--crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and coated in sauce without losing its texture. Every bite had depth and balance, not just saltiness. I actually meant to start with the wings, but the eggplant was so good I ended up eating half of it before even getting to them. By that point I was already getting full, but I still made sure to finish the wings--and I'm honestly excited to take the rest of the eggplant home as leftovers. By the time I got to the wings, I understood why they're popular--crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying--but what stood out to me was how both dishes complemented each other. One rich and layered, the other crisp and bright. I never got tired of eating, which honestly says a lot. I even told the staff how much I enjoyed the food and they thought I was joking, but I meant every word in saying I thought it was comparable, if not better then the food I've had in Chinatown in LA. Really glad I came here and the next time I have a chance to come back down to SD I definitely will come back here and that's not negotiable for me

Considering I haven't had Yosh in about five years, I'm not sure if the critique is of this location or the franchise as a whole but I was sorely disappointed this evening. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to come to this location because I had a hankering for a nostalgic beef bowl and it was the closest to my house. I ordered the xl bowl instead and what you see in the picture is what I got. Not even enough beef to cover the rice and the rice underneath was surprisingly sparse. I don't know if they've cut down on their portions but I got the same amount of meat as a regular bowl back in the day. I should've known when the employee handed me the bag because it was light as a feather. They also didn't give me any sauce or shichimi until I asked (after the employer closed the window on me). When I did, she gave me a ton of shichimi so one star for that. I don't think the picture does justice to how little food there was in the container. Oh well.
