Beef short rib

This restaurant is intimate and inviting, and in a really fun part of town. The prices are a little steep but the portions are good. My beef short rib was pretty good but not something I'd order again. The butter spatzle was pretty bland. Nice restaurant overall but not sure I'd go back.

We came to Leopold's for dinner on a weekday around 6pm. It was pretty empty when we arrived but filled up quite a bit by the time we were done with dinner. The decor and ambiance felt like an Austrian beer hall which was fun, and the staff were friendly and attentive to us. The food we got was delicious! We got the happy hour pretzel bites, but they accidentally brought out and charged us full price for a regular pretzel. For mains we got the schnitzel and short rib. Both were delicious and the portions were really generous. We had leftovers from both to take home. We finished with the Linzer Torte for dessert which was so good and had a delicious crust. The beer menu was great as well, we enjoyed the imports and I even got a non-alcoholic imported wheat beer which I haven't had the chance to try before. We would definitely recommend this place for good Austrian food and the fun beer hall atmosphere!

On a Saturday evening, I walked in without a reservation. However, for parties greater than 2, I would recommend planning a reservation. The restaurant was very comfy and homey. There was plenty of seating, but it had the potential to fill up very quickly. From the decor to the staff's festive uniforms, it gave off very traditional-German/Austrian vibes. There was very a jolly soundtrack of accordion music being played in the background... all good vibes! The service was really great! The staff were very friendly (jolly) and attentive to each table, proactively tending to the needs of customers. From my observations, they operated very fluidly, with excellent communication as I asked for a few things and two different staff members delivered the items consecutively without question. The service was also decently quick. The food came out in about 10-15 minutes. I got the wiener schnitzel, and I wished I tried more things but the portion sizes were pretty large so I held off. The wiener schnitzel was pretty okay. It was crunchy on the outside but I felt like it was lacking a little more distinctive flavor. On the bright side, the sweet lingonberry sauce carried! If I am in the area, I would like to visit again to try their bratwurst, and their apple strudel!

Great Austrian food! The schnitzel, arugula salad, and potato pancake are all amazing. Get a boot of beer -- if you order the 2-liter, they ring a bell and the whole place cheers. So fun every time! One of those places you can't help but come back to.

Leopold's serves delicious, hearty comfort food, come hungry and stick to one appetizer and one main course. The ambience is cozy but tight, so a reservation is a must. Service was great. Overall, it's a great spot for indulgent, flavorful dishes, but best as an occasional treat. Would return!

Been wanting to try Leopold's because it looks so cute inside and it was amazing. Everything we got was really yummy. Started with a potato pancake and the horseradish applesauce that came with it was tasty, we also got pickled cabbage. I will be thinking about that cabbage it in the future. It was sweet and warm and flavorful. For mains we got the Wiener schnitzel and Hungarian Goulash. Both really great but the goulash was pretty spicy. It's a little loud inside but I think it's my new fav spot on Polk!

Super old school vibes, bright & loud/ lively. Super authentic food , can not identify the names of dishes but my good friend who travels often to Europe, suggested popular dishes, and they for sure did not disappoint. Not only is this food great to soak up alcohol, but it's a great way to end a night of libation induced revelry. I absolutely will recommend without a doubt and I would love so much to come back next time im in town.

Good beer, fantastic German food and great service! What more can you ask for! Felt like I was back in Germany at an authentic restaurant!! Everything is wood so it feels very home-y and the Weiner schnitzel was great! I love Spätzle so I asked to sub that and they were very willing to make it happen. I will be back!

5 for food, services, and ambience. Great schnitzel. Hands down, best apfelstreudel. Light, crisp layers of pastry...not too sweet. I think my mother appreciated the handsome waiter

I remember going there a couple of times and the setting is timeless - the only thing new is post covid-19 are the outdoor parklets for outdoor dining. The vibe is great, a feel of being transported to a neighborhood German bar restaurant, somewhere in Bavaria if you dined in. The staff is friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable of all the great dishes that is truly German. I ended up having sausages and fries with my draft fruh Kolsch beer. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a place like this as it is lively but not loud, cozy but not cramped, and always buzzing with good energy, from the staff through to most of the patrons on any given night. The menu is a greatest-hits tour of German comfort food. The deviled eggs are a must to start your meal and the wienerschnitzel is my personal go‑to as it is crispy, moist, and so flavorful every time I've had it. The jägerschnitzel is another standout if you are feeling something a little lighter and saucier as it rich and savory in all the right ways, and the sausages are always banging and perfect alongside a big stein of beer. It's the kind of food that feels made for long conversations and slow sipping. What really elevates Suppenküche, though, is the people. The staff are super friendly and clearly know their stuff, always ready with a beer recommendation or a menu suggestion and the patrons tend to match that vibe; if you end up at the bar or sharing a table, which is pretty common if you come with a small group, you're likely to find yourself chatting with someone new before long. There's honestly no better way to make new friends in SF than bonding over schnitzel and a great German beer at Suppenküche.

We started with a large IPA, and wooahh was it huge. It definitely worked out for my partner and me, so we shared the large IPA. Also started off with the gourmet sausage w. Saurkraut, pickles, and local bread, and went with Polish Kielbasa, which was delicious! I enjoyed the flavors of the Polish sausage, and the sauerkraut tasted refreshing, combined with the pickles and soft bread. We also ended up getting Szeged Goulash, ohhhhh my, that was delicioussssss!!! The cream soaked into the Gnocchi so well, and I could've drank a glass of that by itself! The pork goulash was delicious and extremely tender. When I bit into all 3, wow, my mouth was in flavor heaven. I'll definitely be coming back here again. I wish I had known about this place sooner!
