We decided to try Nasha as we've never heard of Indian Tex-Mex fusion before, and being Indians ourselves, it was a must try. Indian people tend to love Mexican food given the heavy use of spices, and Nasha did not disappoint! The food was a perfect balance of Indian/Mexican, leaning more towards the Indian side. The Indian flavors were reminiscent of homemade Gujarati food, and we never get that, even at authentic Indian restaurants. Nasha is a must try, and one of the best fusions we've ever eaten. I really wanted to like this place and add it to my weekly rotation, but unfortunately, it's a one-off for me and I'm being generous with my stars because I can see the manager really cares and I like the fusion concept. Service: I walked in and was greeted with, "are you picking up a to-go order?" I suggested I'd like to sit down and was the only there around 12 noon. The waiter seemed kind of put out, like he was hoping I was only picking up, so he could presumably? Do more important things? A couple walked in not long after and he seemed equally kind of disinterested when they asked for some type of "Indian" cocktail as opposed to regular beer. He was otherwise very punctual and courteous, but I left with a cold vibe and don't plan to return. Atmosphere: I found it drab and dark. I was also one of only two there, so that may have contributed. I also lived in Dubai, UAE and Doha, Qatar for 10 years and am used to presentation, often in costume, and incredible atmosphere and 5 star Indian food. Dubai is 50% Indian first and only 20% Arab, so I think I have a good pulse on what quality Indian food should taste like. Food: I had vegetable samosas and millionaire's curry. The texture of the samosas and filling elevated this review to 4 stars. They are a little like empanadas and perfect in every way. Really my favorite samosas in Austin. But, I had trouble finishing them because I hated the sauces. And that is just not normal. Imagine you go to a Mexican restaurant and you can't finish your queso. Unheard of? Queso is hard to screw up. Well, unfortunately, it's a bad sign when I can't finish my appetizer. The purple sauce pictured can only be described as kind of a play on baby Gerber food prunes, only not as good. I don't know about you, but babies are adorable, but I'm in my 30's and wasn't planning on dipping my samosas in baby food. Someone called it applesauce in another review. It's more like prunes. The green coconut sauce is more liquid than water and was completely inedible with almost no taste. I wanted to like the millionaire curry. Be forewarned, it's extremely light and boring. The rice is incredibly plain with zero seasoning and the curry is like liquid soup. It's like someone threw jalapeños and tomato paste in a food processor. It's more than puréed. There's very little to it. It comes across more like salsa with rice and a few cubes of chicken thrown in. I think the chicken would work better if it was chicken thighs. It came across like dry chicken breast, but that's being generous because this reads more like gristle. I think the taste is pretty good, with some adjustments mentioned above needed like thickening the sauce, albeit a tad too spicy even in it's mildest form. I also had naan that tastes more like reheated pita bread. Everything feels kind of not so fresh, like there's a real Sysco vibe to the food here. Pricing: it honestly made me really angry. I paid $39 with a $10 tip (I got the feeling my server wasn't impressed with 37% and I want to let him know I wasn't impressed with him or the food) for what I've listed and left hungry. I understand times are tough, but I can get a fast, pretty stellar, stick to your ribs, fresher, Tarka Daal and Vegetable Samosas at Tarka Kitchen for $15.70. Bottom Line: I'm still looking for good Indian food, but will stick to the thoughtful service and more authentic food at Saffron Far West and Sangham Chettinad on Parmer. I'd honestly rather visit Masala Wok and Tarka Kitchen when I'm in the mood for something faster, than return here. read more

Yikes. Was really excited to try this place based off the website and reviews but, man, were we disappointed. First off was the smell. When we walked through the door we were hit with such a strong smell of raw sewage we debated even sitting down. We decided to power through but the odor did not go away nor did it make for a good dining experience. We decided to get a bunch of apps including the chicken wings, tikka queso and lamb samosas. The only offering that was done adequately was the samosa but it was served with a sauce that was touted as tamarind but tasted more like apple sauce. The tikka queso tasted like it had been burnt or left in the pan too long and the wings were passable but bland even with the spicy mango sauce. Sometimes fusion works but sometimes you get an almost inedible overpriced mashup. Such is the case with Nasha. We definitely won't be returning. read more

Really nice staff, immaculate premises. We were the only customers there on a Sunday, around 5pm, but it was filling up as we left. The service is table service but with ordering at the counter/ bar area, which is fine. The water cups are cute hammered metal, but pretty small (maybe 8oz) and they bring a water sweater to the table, but on this very hot day, we had to get several! We ordered the tikka con queso, which is basically the tikka masala sauce, served with papadams, and the onion pakoda which were great... little seasoned, battered& deep fried slices of onion with a fresh minty dipping sauce. For main dishes, I ordered the Chicken Tikka stuffed Chile Relleno, which was an interesting combination. Eating Indian spices food with guacamole takes a bit of getting used to! My fellow diners had chicken tikka enchiladas, and just straight up Indian chicken tikka masala (invented in my hometown, Glasgow, Scotland!) with rice and garlic naans. For me, as someone who grew up eating Indian food weekly, then moved to Austin as an adult& replaced my Indian food addiction with Tex Mex food addiction, this place was a bit of a conundrum! I've been there several times with friends and besides getring to explore some really fun flavor combinations, we've also always been treated like honored guests. I love this place. Their menu is so fun and unique. Their cocktail selection is fun and well executed. I will say my husbands stomach destroyed him all night after eating the wings. Was about to eat here until I got rudely/angrily waved away by some male staff after parking for only a few minutes in front of the store while waiting on friends to get here. Their staff were basically yelling at me to move my car for no reason. The women behind the bar just laughed, I honestly don't know what was going on, but I'm glad I never went in there and we headed down to grab food from Jets just a few stores down. We tried this place out as it's new to our neighborhood and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! The inside was very clean and they had a large selection of drinks, wine, beers (even draft). We got the lamb samosa, millionaire curry, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. All of it was so good and we thought the portions were good for each of us as we left feeling full. Decided to try this restaurant out with a group of 4 shortly after it opened. A friend of mine even suggested it since they apparently have another location that's a food truck. We we're the only ones in the restaurant and the service was incredibly slow. It took one server awhile to come by, take our order, bring drinks, etc. That wasn't a big deal. Overall, the disappointment came from the food - nobody in our group of 4 liked their entree. Indian meets Mexican definitely different. Stopped by today, was tired of eating at home. This place is located in a small strip mall/shopping center. They have a patio but with it being close to a 100 degrees we choose to sit inside. Interior is nice, they have what looks like a full bar and about 2 dozen or so tables. Wasn't busy with just a few people eating. Service was great. And the food was crazy good. I had the Enchiladas Aloo Gobi with tikka masala sauce this was a great vegetarian combo. It came with rice and a salad-ish mix of shredded lettuce and tomato along with their version of guacamole. (Which was pretty dang good by itself.) My buddy had chicken Tostadas which were also damn good. 2 tostadas piled high with pulled chicken and topped with lettuce and cheese. The provided salsa had a nice kick. This is not your Abuela's food. Also the veggie samosas were hot and tasty. My only let down was the ginger chicken soup. I was expecting something different more Thai-ish. Was driving by today, and happened to notice this, place . Never been here before, thought I would give it a try! Very small hole in the wall, layout, excellent air-conditioning and immediately I noticed they had a full bar! I ordered a Mexican martini, And it was promptly delivered and I was pleasantly surprised!, they serve it, Moscow Mule style, in copper mugs, with a little copper pot as the top up shaker! - Never seen this before! An excellent Mexican martini! Next we have the appetizers; I got the lamb samosas, they were meh, but acceptable. The main dish, I ordered the lamb millionaire curry; it did not disappoint! An absolutely delicious curry, served with perfectly cooked basmati rice! Of course, I ordered a large cucumber Raita , which I dumped over the top, which is the way I like it! So, I've been wanting to check this place out since they opened. I went in to get some food to take home. I was surprised they had a bar and decided to order a glass of red wine while I waited. My first sip was horrible. It definitely tasted like a bad bottle. I asked the server if he could get me a different type of wine, which was the same price. He could not. Nor could they just take it off my bill. I payed for and left a full glass of wine that was bad. I have worked as a bartender and server and in hospitality since I was 15. (This is about new south location) Been going to Nasha for years, first time had any problems at all. Placed an order last night, didn't have chance to eat until after they were closed. Everything in my order was great except one order of the tikka massala (with lamb) which was completely inedible due being excessively excessively over cooked and extremely salty to the point of being inedible - I figured "no worries, I didn't eat the food so I can call them in the morning and figure something out" Called them today (as they were closed by the time I had the chance to try and eat dinner), said I hadnt eaten one thing out of the 85 dollar order, and asked if there was any way to exchange it for a new one (their curries and service are typically good and didn't want money back just wanted to exchange the singular dish for a new one). I've never left a poor review for any restaurant or business before, but when I asked if there was anything we could figure out - including asking for half price on a new one if I brought the food in to show I wasn't like trying to rip them off. The lady said no which was fine, told them I can understand where they're coming from but asked if there really wasn't anything we could figure out since I've bein going to there other location for a long time and it was a bummer because it was an expensive dish. She said "you don't have to eat here if you don't like the food" and then hung up, which was kinda rude and confusing - especially since I said everything else was great. I don't get to eat out much, pretty much only special occasions, so was pretty bummed with the whole experience. Not sure what to do really, definitely won't go back to that location again but feeling weird about going to the other location as well now. Maybe she was just having a bad day!
