Unfortunately, we had high hopes for this place, however the restaurant left a lot to be desired. It is under new management and ownership, but Stephanie needs some more help. Yes, we had a large party, but food service was extremely slow and the restaurant wasn't close to being busy. Once the food arrived, the quality was actually good... We really enjoyed the boudin balls, and the red snapper was great. Kids enjoyed their food. Unfortunately the entire experience took almost 3 hours with food order mix ups, check issues, etc. Food quality was great, I would be willing to try it out again in a few weeks once management gets a chance to reset. read more

Decent. We stopped for lunch on the way back to Galveston on a Saturday around noon. We were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken and brought quickly. We shared the Chicken Fried Chicken. We chose Mashed Potatoes and a Side Salad as our sides and added a Caesar Salad side as well. The salads were 'okay'. Bagged salad on the side salad. A bit over-dressed on the Caesar. Absolutely amazing food and amazing service. We were greeted by Stephanie and she made our party feel like family. She made sure our experience was delightful and never missed a beat when making sure our drinks were refilled. Food was so delicious we had to meet the chef, Dante. Dante was very friendly and can tell he has the passion to ensure the food he makes is top quality. This restaurant has that "Mom & Pop" feel and it wasn't really a "divey" atmosphere. Very clean and spacious so you feel comfortable enjoying your meal. Highly recommend starting out with their Shrimp Kisses. Who can resist bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with mozzarella cheese and jalapeños. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as The Works Burger was more than we can handle. Made an attempt to finish it because it tasted great but ended up leaving Nate's with left overs and a happy feeling from our experience. We actually drove right past this restaurant. It's easily seen off the road but it's easier to pass up than you'd think. There's a big outdoor patio on one end but in July we had no desire to eat outside. We parked in the front & walked in the front door. We were immediately greeted & told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat near the bar so Lalanea took care of us. From beginning to end she was a fantastic server! She was friendly & helpful. She also created a great drink at the bar for me to try. I loved it! Do I remember it now? Nope! I was here on July 6th. Today is July 27th. Point is..... she's an excellent bartender too! We ordered the seafood platter. It has a little of everything. We couldn't even finish it all. I had a bit of guilt for leaving behind a few onion rings. (They were huge!) The catfish didn't taste fishy or muddy. The breading was so crisp & perfectly made that we loved it. The fish itself was hot, fresh & it flaked apart perfectly. Usually our least fav seafood is catfish but this was soooo good. The tartar sauce is homemade & honesty I was dipping everything in it. It was scrumptious! The green beans were great. The hush puppies were tasty also. Nate's seafood was the perfect place to get some food after a beach/hiking day! The parking lot and interior of the restaurant aren't huge, but we had no trouble finding a spot and a table. I ordered the shrimp po boy, and it was delicious! There were tons of crispy shrimp and the food was hot and fresh. The fries are steak cut style, which usually isn't my favorite, but these went well with the sandwich. The portion size was also huge for the price; this could easily be shared between two people who aren't too hungry. The only thing that could be improved is the time for water refills; we were pretty thirsty after hiking and it took a while for them to come refill our waters. Other than that, it was a great experience and I'd come again if I was in the area. read more

We had a late lunch around 3 p.m. on a Saturday at Nate's West End, and it was the perfect spot to relax. The restaurant was quiet, which worked out great for us since we snagged our favorite table by the bar. Our waitress, Nanette, was friendly and attentive, making our experience even better. We ordered the chicken-fried chicken and the chicken-fried steak--both came in huge portions and were absolutely delicious. The food was flavorful and satisfying, just what we were hoping for. The good, the bad and the ugly...tried Nate's for lunch on a Thursday. Got there just after 11 am. There were two other tables while we were there. Our table ordered three shrimp platters and the Philly cheesesteak. Service was pretty quick. Received meals in about 15 minutes; which, based on other reviews we were expecting quite a longer wait. The good: the shrimp were delicious. Breading was crispy and flavorful. We requested the remoulade sauce, which was tasty and had a little bit of a kick. The bad: the Philly cheesesteak lacked flavor and moisture. One of the shrimp platters only came with five French fries. The hush puppies were good, but very small. The ugly: the Philly had a hair in it. Would have scored higher if we just had the fried shrimp. read more

He is a healthy eater and that burger was too much and my goodness the flavor! Like the perfect homemade burger if you were really good at it. There was enough to share with Beaux too! On this past Tuesday, a friend of mine talked me into trying this place again. Save yourself the time and money and eat somewhere else. They were out of most food I wanted to order and the shrimp I ordered was not good at all. It was rubbery and definitely not fresh shrimp. Went in bathroom after an employee, name unknown but she had dark brown hair and later my friend told me she was the new manager, and she was vaping in bathroom it smelled like weed and trust me I know what weed smells like. So unless you want frozen shrimp and to get high I wouldn't waste my time. read more

The AC was broken.. we should have left but we stayed. They were out of a few items that we wanted for dinner--- once again, should have walked out. Our appetizers were super. Crab cakes and hush puppies. The problem today was the time it took to get our order. Got there right at 1pm. Appetizers took approximately 30 minutes. Our order which was placed at the same time we ordered the appetizers took a FULL hour. We didn't get our food until close to 2:30. Our server was the only server but the cook took a couple of smoke breaks while we were waiting. So a staff of two (2) and it wasn't busy?? As much as we love the food it will not be first on our list in the future. Service today was sketchy and odd. Which is unfortunate. What a mess. I'm writing this sitting waiting for my main course. I've been here 1 hour 28 minutes so far. Our table of 6 has been receiving their meals one at a time. 4 of us are still waiting. The wait staff don't seem to be in any hurry to serve people and one of the chefs wanders out of the kitchen every now and then. People are waiting at the door and are being ignored. I want to tell them to go elsewhere but I hold my tongue. We got 4 out of our 5 jalapeño in the starter. 2 stuffed shrimp were missing from the platter. I'm now last to be served and I ordered a Philly cheesesteak. Well over an hour and half still waiting. The offer of a free dessert as compensation was welcome but then they were out of nearly all the desserts with a couple of random pieces left. WOW THEY HAD THE NERVE TO ADD 20% gratuity. After a long day of working and driving to spend a weekend in Galveston, we decided to try Nate's because the Google reviews were fairly decent. We had a party of 10 and didn't have to wait long to be seated. The place is pretty small, so feel we lucked out getting the table we did. We were greeted by our waitress and told they were out of popcorn shrimp and T-Bones. Not an issue. We all ordered our food. I personally ordered the pecan crusted red snapper. My other half ordered grilled shrimp and my kids ordered chicken fried chicken, a steak and fried seafood platter. I bragged on how good the pecan crusted red snapper was that I had from somewhere else. It was a sad and distasteful disappointment. Our family friend ordered hush puppies and got crab balls. Drinks and wine were great. I honestly didn't get a chance to go the bathroom, so can't tell you how good or bad they are. I'm just going to end with this... Been living on west end about 4 years now, worst experience ever at Nate's tonight. Walked in a total of 4 customers in the place and two waiting on to go orders. Ordered a margarita and ice tea for two of us. Tea came out in about 10 minutes, margarita took 20 or so. Finally got to order a burger and Philly cheese steak. Waited well over an hour, food never came out. Staff was telling incoming customers they couldn't serve them because of the long wait. People were leaving as we finally did. They turned the open sign off and turned on the answering machine which said they were closed due to power outage. Will never go back, too bad because they are so close to my house. As one of the other previous customers said run away as fast as you can. Go to Venados up the street. As for Tabitha, she'll take great care of you. read more

Got to the restaurant early at 5:00. Manager(though we didn't know she was the manager) seated us and it was raging hot inside, the manager said nothing about it. As a former server and concierge you should always communicate with your customers what is going on. We sat down and the server came to take our order. Gave her our drink order and she was off to get it. We waited for 2 hours to receive 3/4 of our meal. The GM drove over after our waitress called him. NOT THE MANAGER. The manager was rolling her eyes and walking away when our friend was confronting them on the lack of service. He's not the one to say that too. He manages a company. The GM eventually pulled up and listened to our complaints. As we were sitting there we noticed other patrons getting agitated. I will say this. The food is really yummy but all that goes out the window when the service is bad. The waitress was so sweet and really was trying so hard. It was not her fault! I ordered the most expensive plate ... rib eye steak with stuffed crab shrimp.... the shrimp was ok but the steak was raw...it looked like it was frozen and defrosted to cook... besides being undercooked, it was tasteless.... way to ruin a piece of meat!!!! My boyfriend got the Chicken fried steak....also not seasoned... it barely had salt and the crust was falling off the meat.
