Overpriced and not that good. I got the fish and chips and they were sub par. My wife got the nachos and added shrimps and that as so so as well. Not that good and the prices are not cheap the nachos are like 16 dollars and the fish and chips were close to 15. The place is nice though with a view to the ocean. really wanted to like this place. We even called ahead to make sure they were dog-friendly, which made it the perfect spot for our dogs' first day at the beach. When we arrived, the vibe was awesome and the food smelled incredible. It looked like exactly the kind of place you'd want to sit down, relax, and grab a good meal. Unfortunately, the way this place is run completely ruined that. Yes, it was packed. It's spring break--no surprise there. We had no problem finding a table, and we were happy to wait our turn like everyone else. So we stood in line for about 20 minutes. Not five minutes. Not ten. Twenty minutes of waiting while the line kept growing behind us. Then we finally get to the front and are told they're not serving food. That's right--after standing in line for 20 minutes at what is clearly a food establishment, we're told the kitchen isn't serving food because there's only one person cooking. Here's the part that really blew my mind: the employee working the counter never once thought it might be helpful to tell the entire line that no food was being served. No announcement. No sign. Nothing. Instead, she waited until each person reached the front and then argued with them individually when they understandably questioned why they had just waited in line for nothing. It was completely disorganized and incredibly unprofessional. And on top of that, the attitude was terrible. She was rude, dismissive, and acted like customers were the problem for expecting food at a place that literally smells like amazing food cooking. If you're overwhelmed, put up a sign. Tell the line. Close the ordering window temporarily. Do something other than wasting people's time and then snapping at them when they ask what's going on. And frankly, if there's only one person cooking in the middle of spring break at a packed beach restaurant, that's a management problem--not a customer problem. It's a shame, because the place itself seemed great. The vibe was fun, the location was perfect, and the food smelled amazing. But none of that matters when the customer experience is this poorly handled. I don't have much respect for businesses that turn customers away after making them wait, and I especially don't appreciate being treated rudely on top of it. My family and I went to dinner at the tipsy turtle tonight. It looked like a fun place to go but I have never had the more disgusting meal nor anyone else's meal was any good. We had two orders of chicken wings and when bit into they were still red. On the inside. We had two fish baskets which consist of three small pieces of Frozen fish which was greasy. We had onion rings that were so full of grease. When you bit into them it would run down your chin. With the queso and chips was a big plate of chips with a small souffle cup of canned cheese. The daiquiris were $15.15 for a 6 ounce cup. We was so disappointed. We spent over $250.00 for 2 children and 4 adults and had lunch food. The flys wouldn't leave us alone. read more

The menu, the food and drinks were so much better than before with the old TT. They still need help and maybe a regular bartender with a better system is taking orders and getting out drinks, especially in busy weekends. They are trying to save money, cutting corners, but a regular full staff and bartender can provide better turnover. People aren't used to tipping when you order at the bar, and I'm sure the hard working server doing the bartending as well would appreciate better tips. Friendly staff, so much better than before. Food was very good and hot and fresh. I will post reviews on all platforms and family and I will be back. Good vibes. The Tipsy Turtle is back OPEN! We love this place. Easy parking, beach access, great service, and relaxed vibes--what more could you want in a beach bar? We love to spend the day at the beach right out front, it's so easy to come up to the bar for drinks and food and to use the restroom. The showers help rinse the sand off before you head up and are a refreshing luxury here. The blackened fish tacos are my favorite dish, and The Turtle is a deliciously beachy rum drink. Highly recommend this place if you're spending a day at the beach in Galveston. read more

We wen for dinner on a Monday, got there at a good time, as it was not crowded and so was greeted warmly by server/bartender. The grilled shirimp basket was very good, had the fries and they were good as well. My husband had the Tipsy Burger which he really liked. Views are wonderful. Read several poor reviews about being told not serving food, and poor service. This was our second time coming here, and need to say the last time which was about 2 years ago, we did not stay and eat due to the long wait for the food, as we were told only had one person cooking and they were very busy. So I guess the answer to weather you have a good or bad experience is to try to go when they are not busy. But the food we had was very good and our server was very efficient and pleasant. read more

Cursed Nachos and a Side of Biohazard I don't usually leave reviews, but when you walk away from a seaside bar with what feels like a sci-fi level infection, it deserves a mention. My family and I were on a short vacation. We prepped our own meals every day -- except one. The one day we ate out? We chose this place. Within 24 hours, I had a sore throat, swollen glands, mucus buildup, and a cough that made me feel like I swallowed a hairball wrapped in regret. A few nights later, I'm waking up with both eyes sealed shut, spitting out yellow gunk, and trying to figure out if I accidentally ate something that escaped from Area 51. No fever. No cold before. Just this rapid descent into body horror after one visit. I ended up needing antibiotic eye drops and cold meds for a week -- all for a plate of nachos. Can I prove it was this place? No, But it was the only place we didn't cook for ourselves, and the timing couldn't be clearer. And before you blames allergies, I'm not allergic to shellfish. So hey -- eat there if you want. On a recent visit to Galveston, we wanted to find a dog-friendly spot with a great view where we could have a few drinks and relax for the afternoon. We tried to go during the normal business hours (while the open sign was up) and there was no one there and no signage for them being closed. We tried again the next day and luckily, they were open. Once we were there, we quickly noticed how long the lines were and heard others complaining about not only the drink prices but also how long it took to get through the line with just one person working. It was not the woman's fault but rather overly busy to not have a full staff. As such, my family and I decided to each order a drink bucket so that we didn't have to go up as frequently. I tried to order a frozen drink from the menu but was told they were not available and switched to a mango margarita on the rocks. My family also ordered a bloody mary and another margarita on the rocks. We wanted to love the drinks and later order food, but quicly realized one drink would be enough for us. The view was great and this has the potential to be an awesome place but the drinks were meh and they couldn't handle the rush. Until I hear that things have changed, I wouldn't visit again. read more

August 25, 2021 I've lived here since 2013 and I'm finally checking this place out in spite of the bad reviews; why? It's 2 miles from my home...I wanted some zen from Mother Earth (gulf of Mexico) The food menu was great. Tacos, pizza, chicken fingers, burgers, etc good prices too. The take credit cards and the wait for food was quick. Plenty of parking. (Note: it's a Wednesday at 5:15pm) TT is next to a Holiday Inn so there was a crowd of tourists so, this place is probably always got business; only open until 9pm. Lots of rum drinks. (One of the brands used is Kenny Chesney's) but, the drinks were $10 each. Or get a 32oz for $20 (which I did of course...duh!) The view is fantastic and a direct walk onto the beach. They have outdoor showers to rinse off. I like the place an will go back. read more

the atmosphere was nice and fun for kids definitely. however the food needs SO much work, so awful. not a single meal of ours was finished and more food was sent back/thrown away then ever. started with our "chips and queso" which was really just very stale chips covered in spray cheese. then our food came out, the fries were cold and uncooked, the chicken was brown and raw, the shrimp that was supposed to be grilled was completely raw and uncooked, and worst part was the fish and chips which came out so bad we could barely look at them. service lacked too besides one bartender! everyone else did not help at all, no napkins, silverware, nothing. never coming back. read more

Great beach bar and grill. French fries and hamburger were amazing. Family loved the corn dogs, hamburgers and street tacos. It was fun to be able to be at the beach all day and walk a few feet to get lunch and drinks, not to mention having actual bathrooms and showers to use. We really loved the Tipsy Turtle during our recent stay on Galveston Island. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations located right next-door to the Tipsy Turtle. I was, admittedly, a little discouraged to find out that the Holiday Inn and I had booked did not have a restaurant connected to it. I had looked at other Holiday Inns and those had restaurants (for example The Jetty), but when push came to shove, I booked the one that I thought would be best for my family without realizing there wasn't a restaurant. But we were in luck, because the Tipsy Turtle was right there easy to walk to whether you were at the hotel or at the beach. I will refrain from telling you how many margaritas I have from the Tipsy Turtle. It was many. One could say I was the Tipsy Turtle. My kids loved the food here and although I mostly drank my calories here, the food that I did have was really good. The best part really though is the vibes... this place has all the vibes. Sort of a Margaritaville for the Galveston crowd, every time I was in here it was lively, people were having fun, and you could tell everybody was on vacation. Except of course the hard-working servers, who were keeping everyone in food and drink despite a big demand. This cute little restaurant right on the beach was a big part of why I enjoyed staying where we stayed and why I plan to come back to this exact hotel again and again. However for all the money I spent at Tipsy Turtle I probably could've stayed just about anywhere on the island, but that's neither here nor there. read more
