Parking lot is tiny and more geared towards people walking or taking golf carts, which given the area, I totally understand. Food was okay. Ceviche was decent but a little bland. Fish and chips were very greasy and had no flavor. Pina Colada was good but very slushy and not even served in a decent looking cup, kind of like you'd get at one of those margarita places at a gas station. Definitely don't sit outside as the very aggressive seagulls will steal your food! Scared the tar out of our young kiddo! We stopped in on a Sunday nite for fried shrimp plates. Tried to order the shrimp kisses appetizer but they didn't have any. So only the shrimp dinner, 8 shrimps and Texas fries. Shrimp were a little over cooked but there were more fries than you can/should eat. Two cold miller lites topped off dinner and we were out of there. It was made with fresh yellowfin tuna, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado onion, and some type of dressing? Nothing like menu read but it was really good. They have a great brunch menu too! This place has really good food! My daughter and I came here a couple of days ago. She ordered the coconut shrimp and I had the fish and chips. I've been on a strict diet and I was worried about eating fried food. Both of our dishes were SO good! The dish did not taste greasy and the fish tasted so fresh! This fried dish did not upset me stomach, the way so many others do! Tonight, my husband and I dined there. He had the red snapper and I had the coconut shrimp (I couldn't resist, after tasting my daughter's dish). We were not disappointed! My husband gave me some of his red snapper and it was delicious! The mashed potatoes looked plain but they had so much flavor! The accompanying zucchini was cooked to perfection and seasoned well! My husband tasted the coconut shrimp and said it's the best he's ever had! Our waitress, Hannah, was very friendly and very attentive. The other waiter, who was working a large table checked on us a couple times, as well. I love restaurants where the servers work together to provide excellent service! The day was hot but there were plenty of fans in the covered patio to keep us cool. Hannah kept our wine iced down, so it was nice and refreshing every time she topped off our glasses . We had a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that went great with our meal. We're from Houston and I am an avid cook and I'm very picky. This place met all of my standards! We were in town for some weekend work and decided to check this place out to eat as it was fairly close to where we were working. Pleasantly surprised. Overall everything was pretty good. Hannah gave us good service, the food was good. Aaron, the manager ended up coming over and telling us that they will soon have game nights and karaoke so if that is of interest to you, it seems like it would be a fun atmosphere along with the good food. We were seated quickly but it took about 40 min for our drink order to be taken. We did not receive water during that time, and water was only given to those who requested it when ordering drinks. The cocktails tasted very weak, to the point or questioning whether there was alcohol in them or not. The menus were filthy. Crumbs, different colored liquids on them, etc. The restaurant does not have a free appetizer option like breadsticks or chips and salsa, which is fine when you receive fast service. We ordered some chips and queso with our drinks. We were there for two hours before we got our food. The wings were *seriously* over cooked on one order (not pictured) but cold on the other. On one order we paid nearly $30 for about 8 mediocre shrimp and a scoop of mashed potatoes. The coconut shrimp was very spicy, without warning. The jumbo shrimp and gumbo were underwhelming. I would not go back. This place is in over its head. Too many tables for the kitchen to manage. The prices weren't worth what we received or the amount of time to get any service. Our waiter was Oscar and he was great, but you could tell he was stretched too thin. Same with the manager we talked to, who I think was named Rachel. Came here because our friends wanted to eat here. Walked in, and noticed that none of the bartenders are wearing a mask and only a few of the waitresses are. They do not practice social distancing here. I ordered a Margarita from the bar while we were waiting (a long time) for our waitress, got to my seat and tasted it- it was horrible! All you can taste is triple sec. I told my waitress about it when she asked about my drink but she just brushed it off. Great hidden spot if you're looking for a relaxing, quiet day on the island. Usually stop for something to eat up near the Seawall before headed to the beach somewhere down the island for a quiet day - and so glad this place popped up on Yelp. Nice patio overlooking the marina. The staff is super friendly. The menu is a little basic, and the food took awhile to come out but wasn't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. Was told by the waitress that it was the best country fried steak but when it came to the table it was big and looked good but the first bite I could tell that it had no flavor at all!!! Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area! My girlfriend's and I were on a long weekend trip and had never been to Galveston before. We found this place via Yelp and I am so grateful for the ease of discovering such a fun and yummy restaurant! We ended up coming back for dinner the next night after enjoying our Sunday brunch so much. If it's warm enough I highly recommend sitting outside on the deck that overlooks the marina and water. Great boat watching and place to get drinks, food and chill with company. Our service was great, drinks and food were good. For lunch I had a bloody Mary (amazing) and breakfast tacos (good). For dinner I had the West End Mule cocktail (amazing), fried pickles appetizer (soooo yummy) and the BBQ shrimp for meal and it was delicious I ate the entire thing. This restaurant was right on a dock with boats surrounding it. You walk into the restaurant and you seat yourself on any table you can find. FYI, all the tables are outside with a cover like thing over it, so you'll be in shade don't worry. We went with a group of 7 people and the service was as fast as it could be on Memorial Day weekend. The choice of food I got was brisket BQQ and fries, as the waitress said the fries are to die for, and she was right. Showed up before 5 with a large party, was greated by a not so happy lady, and told us to go upstairs to be seated. We went upstairs, and the man was nice but told us to go downstairs. We explained that we were just sent upstairs. He said he'd get us set up, and he did. We ordered drinks, and they were outta some of the drinks we ordered, which I understand, but some of the drinks we ordered didn't get made till way later. Then the food came out and my husband and I ordered one meal to split, the people delivering the food sat a plate down in front of me and one in front of my hubby, I asked if that was our meal already split and they said yes. Then our friend had ordered the same thing and he didn't get his food so we asked our waiter where his meal was they went and checked and it had to be cooked again. Unfortunately, the quality of food has been tanking for the past few months. It's too bad, because the ambience on the weekends is great and the outdoor deck area is very nice, as is the staff. Here is the problem. Several months ago when the Sandbar Grille reopened with a new, more varied menu, there seemed to have been a good leap in quality and variety. One of my favorites, the shrimp po'bo, featured good quality shrimp, a proper bread roll and good greens and sauce. Over the next few months, though, we noticed the shrimp in the po'boy had gone from good to those tiny things that taste like frozen (or frozen, thawed then refrozen). Moreover, the bread this evening was probably at least day old because it sticks in your throat....thank God for good beer to wash it down. Totally tasteless overall. We saw the same thing happen with their ceviches (which had been a welcome addition early on). Small shrimp, watery sauce. As homeowners in the area, we really want this place to be successful. The solution is simple - pay attention to the quality of the ingredients (like they did this year for the crawfish, which were excellent). Buy good shrimp, buy good bread and serve it fresh and that's about it. We are fortunate to live in a part of the US where shrimp is relatively inexpensive and where good bread won't break the bank. Check and taste your recipes and make corrections based on your sense of taste. It's pretty straightforward. I don't usually write hypercritical reviews, but I'm doing this with the best intentions. Poor, rude service in bar. I know it was crowded but the frozen margaritas we asked for were terrible and when we complained to the bartender she said she was the expert and that they were fine. They were weak, had very little flavor or lime juice in them. We left them on the bar. We should have called for a manager but we were tired and didn't want to waste more time in the place. Well I have been overly complacent and generous because of COVID 19 limitations on the efficiency and quality of food and service locally. This ends officially now. This place had plenty of staff, it was lunchtime and the staff acted like the only thing they cared about were the paycheck envelopes the manager was handing out during our meal. Only 4 tables busy, plenty of staff, and all they cared about was milling around talking and waiting for payday. Yes my waitress, you do have a cute ass and your short shorts are pleasant to look-at, but are you not there to ensure a great guest experience? Otherwise tryout at the nearest T and A bar. Evidently not. And that was the good part! Drinks served in cheap plastic cups like you get at the dollar store. Higher prices than most true sit down restaurants in the area. Greasy fried appetizers, the shrimp kisses and the boudin egg rolls , both pricey and just so-so. By the way, with so much staff around and few customers, why don't you pick up the silverware on the ground and the crayons, sugar wrappers, etc. that you must have seen. We absolutely enjoyed our experience at The Sandbar. It is a totally relaxing atmosphere to have lunch or cocktails (we did both within a three day period). They have dynamite margaritas with several to choose from and a decent selection of beer. We enjoyed their sandwiches, salads and fried pickles. The service was very good. On Saturday we went for lunch and enjoyed a sporting event on a wall size tv and then a DJ showed up and played great music! Worth a trip. read more

First off in my opinion this is one of the BEST places to get a burger. If you are visiting and staying on the West End of the Island, this is a must! If you're not on the West End and want a change of environment (away from all the tourists) Great atmosphere, water view, live music on the weekends, places to park your boat and even a fine dinning restaurant upstairs that has been completely remodeled with a brand new menu. We were hungry and didn't want to cook dinner so this place was the closest to us. We read some of the reviews on here and decided to try it anyways. At first they said they had a 30 minute wait which wasn't that long so we were seated earlier. There is a small shop below to look through as well as a marina with some boats to look at while you wait. The wait staff and greeter were very nice. They have outside seating on an open deck, outside under a covered area, and an inside where the bar is. We sat in the outside under the covered area which had large fans. Unfortunately the fan above us hadn't worked since December and was never fixed and there wasn't much air movement. The food was pretty good and pretty spicy if you're not used to spicy food. It's not amazing by any means, however, it's decent for not having to drive to the pier area. read more

Dang it - even after going in with eyes wide open knowing that the food service would be slow, we honestly were completely unprepared for how long it would be. We literally waited for over 2 hours after ordering dinner. Granted we had a group of 9, but it didn't matter. The kitchen appears to be the equivalent of a small food truck - no way even close to what they would need to service a place this size. Go there for the live music. Go there for the bar which is actually pretty good. But good god don't sit down and order food. If you think (like we did) "how bad can it possibly be" or "that must have been a bad night" when reading all the reviews you will be beyond amazed at the wait you and the rest of your table mates will be in store for.
