Absolutely amazing food and amazing service. We were greeted by Stephanie and she made our party feel like family. She made sure our experience was delightful and never missed a beat when making sure our drinks were refilled. Food was so delicious we had to meet the chef, Dante. Dante was very friendly and can tell he has the passion to ensure the food he makes is top quality. This restaurant has that "Mom & Pop" feel and it wasn't really a "divey" atmosphere. Very clean and spacious so you feel comfortable enjoying your meal. Highly recommend starting out with their Shrimp Kisses. Who can resist bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with mozzarella cheese and jalapeños. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as The Works Burger was more than we can handle. Made an attempt to finish it because it tasted great but ended up leaving Nate's with left overs and a happy feeling from our experience. Recommend asking for Stephanie if you ever try Nate's and Dante as well to prepare your meal.

Great food, the quality was great and everything was fresh. It's April so we sat outside where we could see the water. Our server (also named April) was really friendly. I wish most restaurants were more like this with a home town feel! Would come again if I'm in the a

So, the staff was friendly and this seems like a loved local spot. Everything looked good coming out of the kitchen but I ordered to go... I was starving and let go of the lack of any flavor but I was beyond disappointed when I realized my fried catfish isn't cooked thoroughly. Decided to call and ended up going back to the restaurant and they made it right and were open to feedback

Seafood platter- yum! Big enough to share!

We actually drove right past this restaurant. It's easily seen off the road but it's easier to pass up than you'd think. There's a big outdoor patio on one end but in July we had no desire to eat outside. We parked in the front & walked in the front door. We were immediately greeted & told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat near the bar so Lalanea took care of us. From beginning to end she was a fantastic server! She was friendly & helpful. She also created a great drink at the bar for me to try. I loved it! Do I remember it now? Nope! I was here on July 6th. Today is July 27th. Point is..... she's an excellent bartender too! We ordered the seafood platter. It has a little of everything. We couldn't even finish it all. I had a bit of guilt for leaving behind a few onion rings. (They were huge!) The catfish didn't taste fishy or muddy. The breading was so crisp & perfectly made that we loved it. The fish itself was hot, fresh & it flaked apart perfectly. Usually our least fav seafood is catfish but this was soooo good. The tartar sauce is homemade & honesty I was dipping everything in it. It was scrumptious! The green beans were great. The hush puppies were tasty also. We will definitely go back on our next trip to Jamaica Beach. Thanks Lalanea. We enjoyed talking to you!

Nate's seafood was the perfect place to get some food after a beach/hiking day! The parking lot and interior of the restaurant aren't huge, but we had no trouble finding a spot and a table. I ordered the shrimp po boy, and it was delicious! There were tons of crispy shrimp and the food was hot and fresh. The fries are steak cut style, which usually isn't my favorite, but these went well with the sandwich. The portion size was also huge for the price; this could easily be shared between two people who aren't too hungry. The only thing that could be improved is the time for water refills; we were pretty thirsty after hiking and it took a while for them to come refill our waters. Other than that, it was a great experience and I'd come again if I was in the area.

Been coming here 15 yrs. I was worried when they had a change of owners awhile back but the food and service still good. Shrimp Poboy has a lot of shrimp and love the steak fries seasoning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Always nice a quiet on a weekday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We love Coopers also!

Charge $12 more than posted price

Today ordered for takeout the fried or grilled seafood platter. The site listed on their Google search is places.singleplatform.com for the menu. Price listed is $25.99. I was charged $36.00 + $1 each for mashed potato's and grilled vegetables for a total of $38.00 - $12 MORE THAN THE POSTED PRICE!! In addition the description lists catfish filet, 4 shrimp, 4 oysters and 2 crab balls. Received catfish filet, 6 shrimp, 0 oysters, 0 crab balls and 1 soft shell crab. Ordered on phone - server did not indicate substitutions were being made.

    Crappy "Onion Rings" SMALL!!!!!!

We dined here after driving by the location a few times. We were excited to have some seafood. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First issue was, when we walked in, it was very warm inside. The AC was broken.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. we should have left but we stayed. They were out of a few items that we wanted for dinner--- once again, should have walked out. So we go ahead & order onion rings- Expensive for the crappy, burnt, Small onion rings. Pics included. The fish & chips were pleasantly big & fresh. I wish the experience would have been great so I could want to take my family there again..... but....... We won't be back. PS.... I am getting tired of restaurants NOT updating their menus online. The prices I saw online were NOT the same prices on the menu.

Ask the Community - Nate's West End

    Is it closed?

Yes. The owner Jim Somerville lost it to foreclosure. The original family who owned Nate's has taken it back, it's my understanding they are working on it as it had not been taken care of by prior owner and will open when they can.

When we got here, it was hard to figure out parking but we essentially parked on the grassy area by the food truck itself. Ambiance is great if you like al fresco dining with nice beach breezes and ocean views! Definitely a weather dependent spot since there's no indoor dining, though there are some picnic tables with umbrellas. The owner (I assume Arney?) was super friendly and gave recommendations. I ended up woth the shrimp poboy and fries. I loved the fries, shoestring, well seasoned, crisp, perfect french fries for me and I'd honestly come back for them. The shrimp poboy was also great, nice big shrimp with a great crust that stuck to the shrimp. Really good remoulade and just all around great sandwich. I also tried some of my partner's tots and fish sandwich and both were also really good. We got a sweet tea to share as well and it was a proper Southern sweet tea aka diabetes in a cup but oh so good. In sum, we lucked out and found a great local food truck slinging out great food in a super unassuming spot. When most things were closed, this was our New Year holy grail!

My partner and I wanted fresh seafood of course and were very pleased with the quality, portion, and service we received on a gorgeous day to start 2026. The fish sandwich was substantial with a nicely buttered and slightly toasted bun, crisp fish fillets with whole fish, lettuce, tomato, and I believe a tartar sauce. I added tots for $1 more than standard fries and received a massive amount. They were perfectly crisp without being too oily or overcooked like I've encountered frequently at other restaurants. This is a food truck you walk up to (located within an RV park) but there are a few picnic tables and swings you can enjoy your food at. They have an extensive menu of other seafood and sandwich options plus fair favorites like funnel cake.

It had Texas size shrimp feast of: jumbo grilled shrimp, blackened shrimp Veracruz & rice, rispy shrimp frogs, fried shrimp on fries, & Mexican shrimp cocktail. The jumbo shrimp was my favorite out of the whole thing. It was seasoned and had a spicy kick to it. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was strong on the tomato flavor. It had a bunch of shrimp mixed up in it along with some shrimp on the glass. This dish was not for me. It was a little spicy but overall I guess the tomato was too strong for me. I think people who enjoy something like michelada or bloody Mary's might like this. The shrimp that was on the skewer tasted a little burnt from the grill so it had that char taste.

After reading multiple reviews and comparing it to other local seafood restaurants in Galveston, we knew we had to go. We were seated with my Service dog, no problem. We began with cocktails xtra Dirty Martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives and for my husband a Maker's Mark bourbon . This gave us time to look over this incredible menu! Seafood is what we came for so we ordered 2 sharable items: soy, ginger octopus on crispy wonton and roasted beat walnut and fried goat cheese salad. We could have stopped there completely wowed. Both if us love Texas Redfish and it's so hard to get fresh seafood where we live so that caught our eyes. Husband ordered blackened and redfish over mushroom risotto and French style green beans. I could not resist a similar item blackened redfish over mushroom risotto and asparagus. We both were over the moon with the meaty blackened redfish FLAVORS! Risotto was perfectly cooked al dente and both veg choices were the perfect accompaniment! Honestly it had been a ling time since we had such a beautiful meal. Service was outstanding and he even picked up on a comment by my husband encouraging me to order whatever I wanted given it was a birthday dinner. So I was completely delighted when Mike showed up with the final surprise a Creamy NY style cheesecake. So I guess what I'm trying to say is this place was outstanding. That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. I decided to lean more toward the 4-star side, so here we are. While in Galveston for a quick weekend getaway, we wanted to go out for dinner. Katie's was my first choice, but the wait was too long, so I pulled up Yelp to see what else was recommended. Shark Shack had great reviews, and when we arrived there was zero wait, so we went for it. The one area where I docked a star was the service. We were seated immediately but waited quite a while for our server to appear, and then even longer to get our drinks. I was so excited for a margarita, but when it arrived in a plastic cup, I was immediately disappointed. Plastic cups are for the beach and nightclubs, not a restaurant with a bar. And that's not where the awful drink experience ended -- it was so weak and just not good at all. Our server seemed so disinterested in everything: taking our order, answering questions, and when it came time to pay, we had to wait ages to see him and wave him down. The food was decent with no major complaints. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing, but it was good. The owner -- well, I assume he was the owner -- came and spoke to us when he found out my husband was military, and he was really nice, friendly, and very supportive of the military community, offering a very generous military discount. That definitely raises the rating and is much appreciated, so thank you. Overall, the big fixes for me would be the service and the drink situation. I can't say we would rush to come back just because we love Katie's for the service, food, and drinks..
