This place brings back so many memories and is truly a Brooklyn icon. It's literally a living piece of history. You're not going here just for the food but to experience over 100+ years of Brooklyn's boardwalk history. The wait was long approximately 50-minutes, because we came on the first day of opening of Luna Park in 2018. I didn't mine the wait especially considering it was expected. Anyone complaining about the wait, shouldn't be here. We ordered the chili hot dog, super burger, onion and fries. The fries are yummy, and perfectly cooked; the outside being fried and salty while the inside a bit mushy. They're great. The onion rings are deep fried and delicious. There's a lot going on in the hot dog and I really liked it. The super burger was okay, but that was expected. Overall the food was good! Endless herds of people, a line that would make Space Mountain blush, overflowing anticipation and a surplus of hype over what can only be described as a very average hot dog. How do you stomach 69 of these, Joey Chestnut? Seriously though, the line takes forever and a day. Don't deviate from your path and don't watch others around you for what may be the faster route - you'll quickly become disappointed. There are no stanchions to keep order and it's only a matter of time before Nathan's perpetuates its legacy by evoking an enormous Coney Island riot. Do yourself a favor and seek out one of the smaller "satellite" Nathan's carts near the rides. You'll get the same crummy product with half the frustration at the same price. This place is definitely a tourist attraction. I'm saying this as this is the same reason I came. Nathan's is celebrating 100yrs of service which is a great accomplishment. The lines were just to damn long, and the wait OMG. I was lucky enough to make friends with someone who was there with her friend just trying to get some fries. Her friend was close to ordering and was gracious enough to add my order with hers. I was grateful as I only wanted to try the hotdog. The two ladies were very cool (drunk) so I took a few selfies with them. I tried my very first Nathan's hotdog and I see why they have been I business for 100yrs. The wait for your order at this quick service restaurant can well be about 30 mins and worth it too. It's not famous for nothing. I wouldn't eat a hot dog anywhere else. These are the most juicy springy weiners on earth! The skin of the hot dogs are crisp but not shriveled and burnt. The insides remain tender and flavorful. The bun wraps around the hot dog and counteracts the saltiness. The chili and cheese is a classic so I had to get it. The plain ones are just as good. The crinkle fries are thick and filling. It's funny that originally the hot dogs here were priced lower than their competitor and now it may just be one of the priciest dogs on the boardwalk. What's more American than going to Coney island to watch people eat as many hot dogs as possible in ten minutes? Going to Nathan's afterwards to eat one yourself. I guess everyone else had the same exact idea though. There should have been a sign near the end of the queue that reads 'abandon hope all ye who enter' because you're in for a wait. There are about ten different lines for registers and each one moves slower than the last. We waited about a half hour to put our order of one hot dog in. Then you get your order ticket and need to hold your ground among the throngs of people waiting to order while you await your food. The dog itself was pretty good not great. It's a Nathan's hot dog so you can't really go wrong there. Being a Chicago kid at heart it did leave me wanting more though. The lines are still long, they still have sugar-coma-inducingly large servings of Lemonade (screw you Bloomberg) and Orangeade, and of course, the frog legs are still being served as well. I didn't partake in a hot dog on my recent visit to Nathan's of Coney Island (because of this vegetarian stint)., but I did indulge in the largest size Lemonade possible, along with some yummy cheesy fries. From our POV, the dogs were very nice - nothing special but very nice. The nostalgia factor of Nathan's weighs in more than the hot dogs themselves. My preference is for no snap in the skin, but then this is totally a personal preference. Nathan's and most others on the east coast have that snap in the hot dogs...we found this true at CITI Field when we saw the Mets and at Yankee Stadium when we saw the Yankees. Stood in line for Auntie Anne's for 15 minutes thinking it was a separate line. The employee saw me standing there and never said anything to me. When it was my turn a woman on the line for what I assumed was regular Nathan's cut in front of me so I asked the employee if this was a separate line for Auntie Anne's and she said no and that I needed to stand on the line next to the Auntie Anne's stand. She had never said anything to me when she saw me standing there for 15 minutes. The other Nathan's on Surf Ave is much better than this one. ok, I have to admit I had to do the touristy thing when I came here. I am not a hot dog person, never have been, and haven't eaten a hot dog since I was 6. Took a nice little evening stroll on the boardwalk in anticipation of this hot dog, as well also knowing that I would need to stroll on back to walk off the calories consumed from said hot dog. But one knows me, when I go all out, I go full out. I got in line, which, by the way, was long, and service slow. The order was repeated incorrectly at least 3 times before she got it correct, and hey at least I was charged the correct amount. I had the hot dog with chili and cheese, partly cause of the going all out, partly because I may have been trying to drown out the hot dog.... Still remains to be seen. The wait for the food wasn't long at all, and once my hot mess of a hot dog arrived, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the hot dog itself. The chili and cheese was messy, but the hot dog was good. Not that I have had a lot of experience with the subject, but I would eat a hot dog from here again if it were offered to me. There are other food selections besides hot dogs, and there is a pretzel place adjoining the same area. The remaining menu seemed a little bit on the more expensive side, but I can't say I paid attention to any of the prices for anything else. The price for a hot dog is also a little bit expensive, but what else could one expect from a tourist attraction at a world famous place?! Benches are limited however, but you'll hopefully find some seating if you walk a little further down. This location is insanelyyyy crowded over the summer (I've waited up to a half hour at times) but on some days like today it's not so bad.
