The check in was easy. We did encounter an engine failure light as we were checking out. We had to go all the way back around to switch the vehicle. There was a very nice lady who helped get us to the right place. We got an upgrade to the next size SUV and had a great rest of our trip. Emerald Aisle is the only way to go. Bypass everything and pick your car. I got frustrated with a few vehicles because they didn't have Google Car Play (or whatever its called). Finally just went with an American car (Chevy Trailblazer) and it was fine. Quick pick up and return. Will always use National and or Hertz depending on price. Friendly customer service on pick up and return. Good stuff. read more

Had a reservation for a 4 day trip. Luckily, I was able to grab a bus right away. The bus became jammed up with people before we left for the airport. There were people in the aisle and luggage along the floor because the racks were full. I had to go to the desk because my membership kind of was messed up. There was a sign to go to the Alamo desk. Got my reservation under my member ship and tried to use the ladies room. Nope. Blocked off for cleaning. Well. I had to go so I knocked in the mens door. No answer so I used it instead. Lucky me that no one needed it. Choose my car and loaded up the luggage. Successfully got my phone to synchronized to the radio. The car was one mark away from being a full tank of gas. My first experience with National left me wondering why I haven't used them before. It was a pretty seamless process from pickup to dropoff. Wow! A little pricier, but no-wait and super friendly service! We got to the Denver International Airport and saw other car rentals bus lines were super long to the point that people could no longer fit on the island, but the National/Alamo bus was waiting for us with 3-4 people inside. Once off the bus, I was ready for a battle to fight off the fees, but nope. Friendly guy was waiting telling me to just pick any car and go. Most of the cars were new. So new, that they only accepted USB-C for Apple Carplay. Then at the end, we got this super friendly / happy guy called Sam greeting us at the gate. The car and check in process were very smooth. Someone pointed us to which car was ours (Emerald aisle) and got us the car seat add on we requested quickly. However, on exiting and being given the rental agreement, the price was 50% higher than quoted when I first made my order weeks ago. I called national later and they confirmed that they couldn't see any reason why the price changed. They gave me a ticket number to present when I returned the car. When I did return the car, jasmine checked the car out quickly and in a friendly fashion, and quickly remedied the pricing error by calling her supervisor, and even gave me a small discount from the initial price for my inconvenience. I was worried I would have to go into the office (no way concerning I was in a time crunch for my flight) or make a call later, but jasmines quick management solved this issue. This is a large facility with many cars on the lot. The bus ride is several minutes from the main airport. Getting off the bus, customer service was very nice as there were people to meet us and direct us toward Executive. Checking out of the lot during pickup went smooth even though they were busy, as they had people roaming the line with tablets to check us out prior to reaching the gate. My vehicle was pretty nice too. Overall, nice rental! It solidifies my decision to use National Rental Car and is why I'm their highest tier. read more

I've been a loyal National customer for years and my experience at this local was extremely disappointing. After 45 mins waiting for the bus watching all the other rental buses come and go, I hailed an Uber to take me to the local. I was disappointed to find out that their Executive Area isn't "pick a vehicle and drive away". Even though there were large SUVs, I was told I reserved a midsize but I could pay double for a minivan. The lady at the counter was condescending and rude and made it a point to let me know that my Executive Elite status carries no value over a holiday weekend. I ended up waking to Enterprise and received a great experience at a lower cost. read more

Friendly service. Prompt bus service to/from the terminal. On arriving to the rental car island, the bus was waiting and I was able to flag the driver and he waited for us and helped with our bags. On the return, again the bus was waiting to take us back. The driver helped with our bags and was about to pull away when he saw someone who was trying to get on. He stopped and let that person on (I appreciated that because you never know if someone might be running late and have limited time to get to the flight). Great car selection for a decent price. We loved the Ford Edge SEL we selected. Some caveats for me: I rent from National regularly and have Executive status. I'm able to go straight to the Emerald Aisle and pick a car. If you aren't an Emerald member, definitely consider it. It makes the entire process much more simple and fast. read more

Dreadful. Specifically targeted our organization (Boy Scouts). Only after turning in our two vans, did they days later claim both had "hail damage". Several weeks after the claim and they still have not produced any pictures of damage or any documentation. Extremely sketchy. I feel they target certain group rentals hoping they are easy "damage" payouts. If no damage was reported at turn in then how could anyone know what then happened after turning days later? No damage at turn in is--no damage period. Even if there is damage, how can a customer be responsible for acts of God? read more

Easy to get shuttle outside baggage claim, short ride to cars (approx 10 min on return to terminal after drop off) and good selection of cars available in Exec area. They lie about their fees on their one way rentals. You would think when you reserve on the app and it says unlimited mileage, that it actually would be. They lie and are unwilling to admit it. I have status with National Car Rental, simply due to the numerous business trips I make throughout the year. I love being able to just go to the lot and pick my car. I'm pretty simple and generally choose "regular" mid-size cars. And I find picking up and dropping off my cars pretty seamless. BUT on 11/7/2022, with the SUV I chose at this lot I noticed the tire pressure sensors for all 4 tires were lit! When I drove up to check out, I told the person about it. He promptly switched out the SUV for me. Initially I think he was just going to give me a random SUV, but I told him I chose this car because of the heated seats (I knew I was headed to the mountains on this trip and there was snow in the forecast). He traded it with an even better SUV, with my much coveted heated seats AND heated steering wheel! A nice touch that made my 2 week trip between Colorado and Wyoming so much better!!! Back in 2014, I visited Denver and rented a car from National Car Rental. I have been renting from this company for many years. I am fortunate that my workplace has a corporate plan that I can use for personal car rentals. I have been pleased with the cars and service at numerous locations over the years. My experience at this location was no different. My friend and her husband picked me up from Denver International Airport. We went to a local restaurant for a late lunch before they drove me to National. I needed to pick up my car rental. To this day, I know that there is a shuttle between this location and the airport, but I have yet to board it. Back in 2014, I was driving a grey Prius. I found the exact model that I could rent in the Executive Class aisle. Part of me wanted a piece of home away from home. I then spotted a Volkswagen Beetle and that thought disappeared. Since then, I haven't see a Volkswagen at National. I had rented a unicorn! My only experience driving a Beetle in my life was this one. It's unfortunate that Beetles aren't being manufactured anymore. It's a decent car that was fun to drive. I had no issues with my Beetle rental. I drove it to various parts of Colorado, from Boulder to Castle Rock, and more. It was smooth on the Interstate and on local streets. The doors on this car were heavy! I had such a bicep workout trying to get the doors to swing open and close. I'm such a sedan driver... haha! The process of fetching your car and dropping it off was so seamless. Staff were friendly. Flew into DIA and National had the best rates, so we booked a car through Priceline at National. Arrived, and the lady behind the counter checked us in, I got the insurance through National, so paid for that and was on my way. She was friendly and explained the process to us and even gave an estimate time to get here in order to get shuttled back to the airport for our departing flight. Went outside and met with another lady and she showed us four options for a full size car and we chose one and was on our way. Once I got on the freeway, I noticed the hood was open! That was kind of scary, so I pulled over and my husband got out and closed the hood. Super weird, but all the buttons are right next to each other on the left side so I figured someone accidentally hit it trying to open the gas cover or something. Other than that, the rental car (Nissan Altima) was great! It had great gas mileage, it was clean, even came with a ice scraper and only had 13,000 miles on it. We were really impressed with our experience at this rental car location. When we had arrived, we had trouble deciding which car we should choose. There were quite a few types to choose from but we wanted something strong and fun for exploring Colorado and didn't know what was right. One thing we didn't think of was finding one that had 4 wheel drive for the mountain driving. Joshua searched around and found us a vehicle that had it - which was incredibly thoughtful. We appreciated the detail being that it wasn't something we thought of. While leaving with the car, they checked our cost and it was higher than what we booked it for. Adriana double checked everything and was able to make sure we got the car for the price we booked it for. She was super friendly, calm and helpful. We also interacted with a Jacob who was friendly as well. We rented a car in Massachusetts and drove it to Denver. We had several issues with the car. We tried to trade it in along the way but there was no available cars. There seems to be a shortage. We only had 2 cars to pick from in Mass. The car was old, had a bad windshield and we found out when we got on the road could not charge our phones. Given the distance we were travelling, we were nervous about having enough battery life for using our gps for many hours. We went a bought an extra battery for our phones and kept our fingers crossed. When we got to Denver, we explained this to Joe in customer service at DIA. He listened and then gave us a significant discount. We felt he treated us well and tried to make up for the issues. We really appreciated that. He turned a potential one star review into a 5. Easy in and easy out with the executive rental. The rental car I thought was defective initially because the touch screen was not working correctly but I think someone had just attempted to clean it prior to me renting it and the screen was wet. Word of warning, National is not playing around with their late return charges. I dropped off my rental 70 minutes late and ended up with a $75 charge. In any case, what I like about them is the easy to understand rewards program; none of the ridiculous and almost valueless points of Hertz, you simply accumulate rental days and then ultimately get free days. Unfortunately their pricing is often higher, so not sure yet who will end up with most of my business. My first experience at this location was that they have far more frequent shuttles than Hertz, perhaps because the National buses are shared with Alamo. I also received a fantastic vehicle; booked a regular size Chevy Tahoe during peak ski season, they put me in an extended GMC Yukon 4x4. read more

This last rental THE CAR HAD NO OIL. It took SEVEN calls and nine hours for National to get a replacement to us that night. (I missed my daughters birthday party as I was waiting for the car to be delivered while everyone else was at the celebration. ) On Saturday, the station manager promised us a call from a Regional manager. It is now Wednesday and NO CALL FROM A MANAGER AT NATIONAL. I am wondering how long it will take to get a response now that we are resorting to social media. I don't get to Denver often enough but I still rent from National. Back here for a few days and decided to burn off a few of my one-two-free days. I am at the Executive Emerald level in the National rewards program. This means that I can choose just about any car in the lot other than the "Premium" row and I get to bypass the counter. Loyalty has its rewards! The shuttle bus was waiting for me at Island Four out front and the very nice driver helped load my 40 pound suitcase on board. A short drive to the location and time to choose. Today's row of Executive vehicles looked a little bleak with large SUVs and a pickup truck but within two minutes, two BMW convertibles showed up. DO NOT RENT FROM NATIONAL, ENTERPRISE OR ALAMO (all the same company). I'm absolutely blown away by how I've been treated through National. There was a massive hail storm the day before I picked up my rental car (it is all over the news) and the car was in an uncovered parking lot in the Colorado Springs. At pickup, I was told to only notify the desk if there was damage larger than the circle cutout in the little paper they gave me. The car was covered in pollen but there was not so I left with the car. Upon return to a different airport, they told me that hail was 'different' so the circle rule did not apply and that I was being billed thousands of dollars for the hail damage. I figured maybe there was a disconnect between the two airports. But no, I'm blown away by the way I've been treated. I called to file an appeal and they said someone would contact me. Weeks went by. No one ever did. I had to call again and demand action to be taken. They told me someone would call me to obtain details from me about my appeal before they proceeded with an investigation. No one ever gathered details from me to hear any of the documentation I had gathered. Instead, they left a voicemail saying that the investigation was closed and that I was being billed for it. This is absolute insanity to treat a customer this way. I'm now in contact with my lawyer regarding this and the emotional strain that was put on my family from all of this. Do NOT rent from National, Enterprise, or Alamo. They're all the same company and from speaking with past customers of theirs, this seems to be a reoccurring theme. Damage happens to their cars and they try to pin it on a customer so they don't have to pay for it. They sent me 'pictures of the damage' and I still can't even really see it in the pictures. They have an intense multi-light on it and expected me to see it when they gave me a car covered in pollen and dirt to begin with. read more
