Mere steps outside the baggage claim area - and walked to the outside kiosk. A friendly gal helped me while another man gave us some complimentary water bottles for our trip. Be careful renting from this location. I have rented hundreds of cars from National but will no longer use them. My reservation said unlimited miles but I was charged a large fee for excessive mileage. This location says it was because I had a different pick up and drop off location. I have done this dozens of times and never received a charge like this. I called the 800 number and was told I would receive a refund in 2 weeks. 4 weeks later, no refund. I called again and was told I would receive a call back. 2 days later, no call back. I called again and was told unfortunately I would not be getting the refund after being told I was being issued one. No one ever called me to explain their change in decision. read more

While one was helping me with my experience and details for return and getting my receipt emailed to me, the other helped get my luggage out of the trunk and stacked on my rolling back ready to go. Not too bad. National said that they didn't have Emerald Aisle, but when you get there, they tell you to go directly outside. Outside they had like a mini-kiosk for you to complete the paperwork and it is covered from the elements. When we were there, we couldn't pick the car since they didn't have any available and they had to bring some around, but they asked us what we were looking for and they made it happen. There's no Emerald club aisle service offered here due to that the airport here is small and I don't think they can justify it on such low volume. I rented a Chrysler 300 and it came with sirius radio. The vehicle ran great and what was nice about National Rent a car didn't hit me with any late charges when I turned in the car over an hour and a half late. The customer service at the counter and check in was prompt and friendly. I'll use National Car Rental in the future again. read more

Due to an airplane cancellation caused by United and re-booking a flight the next day, I rescheduled on a short notice the pickup of a rental car shortly before midnight. The associate on the phone was efficient, reliable and accommodating. As an "Emerald club" member, I went directly to the booth outside near the rental cars. It was a hot and gorgeous day. The associate Melinda kindly offered me a free iced bottle water. The associate Linda promptly gave me a pristine upgraded car at no additional costs. She kindly offered three options (an SUV or two sedans). She asked if I were to need help with my carry-on. Later on, I received an e-mail from the branch manager to ensure my rental car experience was perfect. Returning the car was efficient. What a stellar customer service! Why can't I give 0 stars?!?! This place is an absolute joke. For starters. You're not renting a car from "National" they send you an Enterprise counter where you will waste hours of your time waiting in line only to be helped by incompetent, inconsistent people. I was given nothing but the run around. So much so that a corporate manager had to call and get things straightened out for me. WRONG!!!!even then it didn't help because this joke of a trash "company" has absolutely no idea what they're doing and does not honor their word or know how to practice customer service. I was told by several people that my 11AM! Reservation was being held and switched into my friends name for an 11pm reservation. Mind you I booked this almost 2 months ago and spoke with several people that MY previous car was being HELD... and got a call 1 HOUR BEFORE pick up they have 1 key left. Which again...inconsistent! The pervious lady I spoke to minutes before said there was 3 keys. And guess what. Whatever next 3 people come to get their car will get a car. But me who was told 12 hours ago that I would have a car was no longer a priority?!?!??? Not only have I had to cancel and change 3 appointments because I'm in a new city with NO CAR but I also accrued Uber charges. Even after explaining several times I have appointments tomorrow I was still not told when I would get a car. All I get it "before noon" not "you will be the first on my list" or "let me see how soon we will be able to get to you" just..."before noon" this place is a complete joke. I will be posting on every platform I can as well as filing a complaint with the BBB because they have cost me additional money, and have hugely inconvenience and have now physically caused issues within my personal life. Booked with National since even though they were a few dollars more generally their service is far superior to the other rental car companies. This is a small location without an emerald aisle so I wasn't sure how they assign cars. When I arrived (I do have midlevel status with them) they offered me a range of cars at no upcharge including a full size car, midsize SUV and a 7 passenger Buick SUV. Due to changing plans we had hoped to get a SUV with a third row and this definitely was a huge help since for it allowed the family to take one car everywhere. If I ever return to savannah will definitely rent from National again. read more

National Executive Elite member here...I see lots of negative reviews about this location and I must admit they scared me a bit. My experience was nothing but positive... First, the pickup process. You don't have to wait in line at the counter. Just go outside to the little hut. They were super friendly, had a selection of cars for me to choose from (albeit I had to talk to someone rather than just pick it out myself), and a cooler full of bottled water. Then you get the keys and drive away. There are no attendants at the exit as there are at most facilities. Next, you get an automated email from the branch manager and cc'ing their staff. This seemed sort of unnecessary, but would prove useful later... Finally, we dropped of our car at 1pm and one of my kids left some items in our vehicle (ipad + iphone). Quickly pulled up the automated email, wrote them a note about the items. Got an email + call within 15 minutes, they found my items within 30 mins total, sent them via FedEx to me, and now, 10:30AM the next day, I have my items in hand. Excellent service! Would definitely rent here again. read more

I come to savannah every 6 months for work and have rented from National every time and am an Emerald Exec member. It seems that something has changed at this location because the last 2 visits I've had to visit the counter because they no longer allow a member to choose their car from the aisle and go. In fact, to my despise, i've been handed a smaller vehicle than what I assumably reserved per their website. Today I was handed keys to another "tin can" car and the key fob didn't work. I returned to the counter and brought this to the attendants attention and when she came to the car and saw thar it wouldn't work for her, she manually opened the door and handed me back the keys and said there. Normally I have no problem opening a door manually, but if the batteries are going out in the fob, then I would be screwed out somewhere when the pushbutton start doesn't work. She took some persuasive explaining until she reluctantly gave me another car. It just seems that this used to be one of the more enjoyable facets if the trip and now its completely the opposite. Whats the point of renting from them if their just like everyone else at the airport. read more

When I arrived at 11:30am and went to the Emerald Club location there was a line of about 20 people waiting due to the fact that NO cars were available. You were given the option of waiting and taking whatever car came in next ( most were economy size ) or taking a car just turned in that had not been cleaned. The wait for a car cleaned was approx 30-45 minutes. I chose to take a car just turned in and had to wait 15 minutes for that. After cleaning out the empty waterbottles and MacDonald sacks the car was relatively clean inside. There was no offer of compensation due to their lack of cars even though I had a confirmation of my early reservation I was extremely disappointed in the local management for not handling the situation by discounting the rental fee due to their lack of having a fleet large enough to accommodate the number of reservations with ample size and number of cars read more

Upon arrival, I went to the counter in the airport. The attendant said if I was an Emerald Member I could get my car outside. When I went outside, I learned that in Savannah, you don't get to "find your car and drive", so I stood outside in 95 degree heat and got my paperwork processed. The young lady outside was incredibly friendly and efficient. This is the ONLY reason I gave 3 and not 1 or 2 stars. Unfortunately, they had no clean cars available. I waited for them to clean a car for about 10 minutes (in the heat). I was offered water while I waited. When the car arrived, it was dirty. The only explanation I received was that the car wash wasn't working properly. I was offered a discount for having to take a dirty (and it was dirty) car. read more

I have rented 4-5 times there now, only once, which was this last time, was I told what vehicle I was being given when the keys were handed to me. All of the previous times I was handed keys without any statement of what the vehicle was. But, if you absolutely have to go here, request Kierra. she's super nice and actually knows what she is talking about. Art on the other hand is a complete different story. He knows how to type and say hi and that's about it. He doesn't know what he is talking about and speaks out of his ass the entire time. i spent two hours here because he didn't know how to use words to communicate or anything regarding customer service. If i had spoke to Kierra first instead of Art, my visit would have been 10 minutes instead of 2+ hours. An email was sent to complaint about the behavior of these individuals to corporate but no follow up or action responses from any manager on that region , i can list names on the email chain : Quiogue Lawrence , Turner Katrina , Russel Cooper , Briggs Cori . None of these managers has the nerve or cares to reply or reach out . I am an executive elite level customer and it really doesn't matter what your loyalty level . I've rented cars from this location three times. The first time (June 2015), they charged me for an extra day and it is still in dispute. Part of the problem is that they don't answer the phone at this location, so if you don't recognize the error while you are there, you can't fix it. The issue with mine is that they gave me a receipt to reflect accurate charges, but then charged my card for the extra day. The second time I came to this location, I found the people to be incredibly rude and non-accommodating. The third time I came, it was late at night. I specifically requested a car with a USB for my phone plug in. Not only did that not happen, but they sent me to a car in B42 that wasn't the right car. I was too tired to go back in line (there were five people in line) to get what I requested. So I just took what they gave me. They don't really recognize Executive or Executive Elite. In addition, you have to stop at the counter or the booth to get your car. Don't plan on a fast or efficient service. If I hadn't already been Executive Elite, I would never rent from National again after my first experience. It's almost worth throwing this one away and trying Avis. read more

BEWARE Not just bad slow customer service but fundamentally dishonest employees bordering on theft...someone should do an investigation of these people. I rent cars there every spring and fall for about a month each...costs me about $1000 each time...(you might ask why and that is a good question but it is because we have a great corporate rate and free insurance and my company requires that we use National)...I have had so many problems with them that go beyond indifferent, poor service...such as: Charging you for gas when you return the car full! Just happened to me, waited for the guy to check me in ...he took his time said he would send me the receipt which I did not get for 2 days finally showing $28 charge to fill a full gas tank (for which I have the receipt thank goodness). Charging you for damage that existed when you rented the car. Classic is that you come in and pick up the car at night in the dimly lit lot and there is a 4 inch scratch under one of the fenders that is hard to see even in the daylight...fortunately we have the free insurance so I've been able to avoid this but I warn you to inspect the car with a flashlight before leaving the lot Running out of the car that you booked and trying to pass off a 2 seater or a pickup truck for a family vacation I rent cars 20 times a year from National and this is by far the worst location in the US...every arrival and departure from an otherwise wonderful place is made more stressful by their terrible service. read more

I have been a loyal National Rental Car Executive Elite Emerald Club member for many years. I AM DONE!!!!! NO MORE!!!!! I have had trouble redeeming my Free Days for the last time. It started a few years ago in Mexico where I redeemed Free Days and made the reservation 3 weeks in advance. Yet when we got there, my wife and I waited at the rental car facility for almost 4 hours before I got someone to help me. The second time was in Asheville, NC when I redeemed some Free Days and reserved a car, again several weeks in advance, for a long weekend with my wife. The airport facility didn't have a car available when I got there, however, some guy walked up to the counter without a reservation of any kind and he was given a set of keys. Another time, I was told that I could not redeem my Free Days at a particular location. This time, I want to redeem Free Days for a long weekend golf trip with my 23 year old son. He lives in Savannah, GA where there is a National Rental Car location. I live in Brunswick, GA where there is not a National Rental Car location. I wanted to have my son pick up the at the Savannah airport and drive it to Brunswick, as we are driving south into Florida for our golf weekend. This would save me from having to drive my car an hour and 15 minutes north and park it at the Savannah airport and then drive the National Car back. Then it would save the return time as well. National will not allow my son to pick up the car. Yes, I understand that National has a rule against renting a car to someone under 25 years old. However, I am renting it, he is simply picking it up. I thought that maybe National would not allow this, so I wasn't totally surprised when they told me NO. From time to time, I will rent a car from the Enterprise Rental Car facility in Brunswick, GA. Enterprise has some affiliation with National Rental Car, so I collect Reward Days even when I rent from Enterprise. What makes me the maddest is that I can't redeem my Free Days with Enterprise. Why? If I get credit for renting there why can't I redeem Free Days there? That makes absolutely no sense. Further, Bonita with National Rental Car Escalation Department told me that I can not even redeem MY Free Days in the name of someone else. Delta allows me to reserve a flight using my SkyMiles in someone else's name and Hilton allows me to use my HHonors Points to reserve a room in someone else's name. Why is National not on board with this? It almost seems as if National wants to tell you that they will reward your loyalty with Free Rental Days, but as soon as you try to redeem them, they find a reason not to let you have a car. I honestly have had several other problems with National, including when the Wichita, KS airport facility tried to bill me for a broken seat release handle. I told the lady that pressured me to pay that if the seat release handle were broken by me as she contended, I would not have been able to drive the car because the seat would not have remained stationary. After hearing my rationale, she agreed and dismissed the charge. There are other instances that I will not bore you with. Rest assured, that I will renew my membership with Hertz. National, you have lost a very loyal customer. Take your rules, your Customer Service people that no one can understand because of their accent and your lack of customer service skills and shove them up your Emerald Aisle! read more

Bring your own window washing supplies. This as well as all of the other National Car Rental locations I've used cut corners on cleaning their cars. I almost crashed because of the layer of crud on the inside of the windshield which caused such a glare when driving into the afternoon or early morning sun. Car had 9000 miles on it and I don't think the inside windows had ever been cleaned. In general the insides of Nationals cars are gross. Service was so-so at pick up and no one could be found at drop off at 9 am on a Sunday Morning. read more

When our vacation was over and we got back home, we find we've been charged an extra $100 with no explanation at all. That's almost $400 to rent a Kia for three days!
