Had a very poor experience at the Savannah Airport location run by Enterprise Rent-A-Car / Alamo Rent A Car. April 6 we went to Enterprise and were refused a rental for not having a passport. We are Canadian, which contradicts their stated requirements. When we asked for clarification, the manager refused to check or show any policy and spoke to us in a dismissive and confrontational way. The situation escalated to the point where we were threatened with security if we didn't leave, which was both embarrassing and unnecessary. April 7 we returned to the airport to rent from Alamo, not realizing it is part of the same company. This time we had a passport, but were still refused a rental. We were told they would not rent to us based on our interaction the previous day. Staff again refused to explain any policy or provide documentation when asked, and were dismissive throughout. At that point, it no longer appeared to be about requirements, but about how we were being treated. The overall experience felt unnecessarily hostile and personal. Two trips to the airport, time and money wasted, and no rental either day. I contacted corporate 5 to 6 times and was promised follow ups, but never received a single response. I want start this review by stating that I have never had a more bad experience than what I had at Hilton Head/ Savannah national airport at Alamo. Make a note.. the representative was ok with the process.. it was the getting the car part that sucked. They gave me this beat up, scratched up, dented up old 2024 Chevrolet equinox that also had looked like it went through a storm of bugs because the front of it was covered in all types of bugs. Not to mention it wasn't even washed and if it was it had no effect on the vehicle. It looked like someone had a bad day and just felt this vehicle needed a key makeover and keyed the entire suv. The hood was faded and the back bumper looked like a thousand pieces of luggage came in and out at the same time. I am retired army and have been renting cars with Alamo for over 20 years. This is the first I had this happen to me. I felt sick to my stomach when I pulled up to someone's house because it looked like something I brought from big bob's car sales. Oh my, I still have a bit of PTSD from a SUV that I rented for a Yosemite trip. Consequently, I'm more careful now, I walk around the car and take video footage before driving off and while dropping the vehicle off. I actually smell the inside of the vehicle too, to make sure it doesn't smell funky. Of course, the vehicle ultimately needs to drive well. And this experience at Alamo checked all of those boxes!! So little by little, my confidence in the car rental industry is returning. But I'll never return to that one rental company, And I won't mention any names so that I don't conjure their ire. Any issues with Alamo?? None to be seen across the horizon. The employee was very friendly at the service desk. It was our first time at Savannah/Hilton Head airport and didn't know what to expect. 11-16-23/11-19-23 Chose this rental as it was part of a travel package purchased through Costco Travel. Very little wait on line until we were assisted. The representative upgraded us to a larger SUV. You get excited until you walk outside and walk to the very last car in the row. It is about a mile down as well. First reaction why are they renting us a filthy car both inside and out? This is a first for me and really sets the tone of the entire driving experience while in the car. You see I don't drive a dirty car at home so why would I pay Alamo to drive in one. On our return when they ask you "was everything ok?" Not really wanting to hear what we had to say. Once we did the representative told us well you should have told them at the counter? So it's our job on vacation to spend it complaining and hopefully correcting something that should have occurred already? You couldn't say anything once inside as no one checks you out either. They give you a key at the counter and at that point you never see another representative again. Terrible customer service as there is little to no one working on site. When you return the vehicle you think they are closed as the bar is down and the red lights are on. Very confusing so we went next door and then someone had to explain to drive up to the red lights and finally the bar will lift. read more

Let's see arrive off cross country flight with luggage at 6:15pm and finally got my car at 7:55. Several issues with this place. They have two lines and evidently Alamo is part of Enterprise and National. I stood in the Alamo line for 30 minutes when they only took the other line. Okay finally got in the other line. I'm not sure what the point of having a reservation is here! Every customer service person spent roughly 30 minutes with each customer! Wtf! This simply isn't complicated people lol. Eventually I wondered if they'd have a car for me. I then had to redundantly give the attendant everything they already had. I don't know why the ratings are so low for this Alamo, as we had a great experience. Upon arriving to get our car, there was a sign at the desk stating that check-in was at the Enterprise counter. We went over there and were immediately helped by a friendly staff person who quickly processed our reservation. We then proceeded out to our car, which was in good shape. My only complaint is they didn't have any compact cars available, which is what I reserved, so I ended up with a small SUV (a Toyota Rav-4) that we really liked and still got good gas mileage. I would definitely recommend this rental car place and will come here again. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. HORRIBLE customer service, absolutely impossible to get a hold of management when there's an issue. Ive had good experiences with them in the past and Im beyond disappointed in the customer service (or lack there of) I have received. 1) I booked and prepaid the full amount of $269.46, then received an email stating I owed an additional $60.38 and had to go to the counter. I called and chatted at least 8 times trying to get information and was transferred literally back and forth with NO answers. - Spent 3 hours trying to find answers 2) Upon arrival, I was told that was incorrect and I would be receiving a credit of $40+ after returning vehicle (still hasn't happened). But was stopped again at the gate saying I had a balance due that I needed to pay. - Spent 20 minutes explaining and looking into situation. 3) I was given a very basic, dirty and not well maintained vehicle that was horrible. Within 30 minutes of leaving, alarms/beeps started sounding saying that fluid levels were low. This beeping continued every 5 minutes for the duration of the trip. 4) I called to complain and was told that I could go to the nearest Alamo location to exchange the vehicle and notes would be on my account. - 20+ minutes on the phone 5) Drove 25 minutes out of our way to the local airport (Hilton Head) to exchange vehicle and was greeted by the most disrespectful, rude and ignorant "assistant manager" I have ever experienced. She told me that this was our problem, she didn't have a vehicle to give us and that if it was an issue we could drive over an hour back to Savannah to exchange it there because she wasn't helping us. She said that she has to make that commute every day along with a lot of other people and if our vehicle was that big of an issue I needed to take it to them. She then proceeded to tell me that she was clocked out and was leaving (even though the hours were until 6:00 PM and it was 5:40 when we got there and she was leaving). - 2 hours of my vacation wasted 6) Called again to complain and was told that a message was being sent to "upper management" and I would receive a call back in 5-10 minutes - NO CALL BACK 7) Went to a local gas station/auto shop where we paid $30 to have the fluids topped off enough to stop the beeping. - 1 hour and $30 dollars 8) Called again to complain that I never received a call back and was told they were so sorry and the ticket was closed so they would resend a message to management - NO CALL BACK 9) Started a chat on Wednesday to see why I hadn't heard back and wanted to talk to someone now, "Carmisha" said she was looking into the issue and disconnected the chat so she didn't have to help me (this is the third time this has happened where a customer service rep disconnected the chat or call because they didn't want to deal with it.) 10) I expect a call or chat ASAP from management with compensation and a refund for the HORRIBLE customer service and for wasting over 7 hours of my time. I flew literally across the country for a 4 day trip and spent half the time dealing with incompetence from Alamo. Worst customer service ever! read more

Had a good experience renting out of Atlanta and returning to Savannah. I had to call and change my drop off date and it was fast and easy.

I have an issue with my Alamo rental car but I have not been able to contact them. I've tried by email and phone multiple times. All of the phone numbers take you to the national line and there's no direct number to their local location. Even the card the representative gave me when I went did not have a phone number on it it only had an email. There's been no response to that email I sent. I tried several times the national number and they kept transferring me to no avail. I either got cut off every time or they said that the location was too busy. They also told me I should talk to the roadside assistance as a last resort and I waited to get through to them and then they said they couldn't help and then redirected me although I had been redirected and redirected and redirected. Horrible horrible horrible. If I get any semblance of response and we can resolve the matter I will update this rating. read more

Mackenzie Williams was the most incredible representation for your company. I have never seen a manager who was so involved and enthusiastic about her job and did it as well as she did, she was absolutely on it. There was something wrong with our car, not a big thing but something that needed to be noted so I looked at our contract and saw her email address stamped on it. I sent an email thinking that I would probably not get a reply, but not only did I get a reply, it was within fifteen minutes of sending my initial email. Alamo Savannah Rent A Car has two thumbs up from us, simply because of Ms. Williams incredible attitude and passion. First off, the attendant was flirting with the customer in front of us while there were 5 people in line behind us. The National attendant next door, Taylor, finally assisted us and was obviously not happy to be there. We reserved an economy car and they were out and only had a minivan or truck but thankfully they found a more fuel efficient vehicle like we reserved. Thirdly, our cost was $183. We handed her $150 worth of gift certificates....and our total came down to $50. Do the math. I asked why we owed more and was told they were forfeited funds". Excuse me? Back to our fuel efficient car: this thing smelled of smoke and wet dog. The engine rattles so bad we're not even sure it's going to last. That's not a safe feeling. AND THEN, I just saw-IT HAS THE SPARE TIRE ON THE FRONT WHEEL!! Holy cow let's talk about our safety here. This company not only allowed us to take a car that is about ready to break down, they didn't even replace the tires!! I honestly don't even know what to think. I wish I could think that a company would have even the smallest amount of safety on their minds but it's very clear they don't. I still can't even believe it has the donut on it. Perhaps that's why their inventory said they didn't have any more economy cars but when she went back to check, she grabbed the keys for a vehicle that needed immediate maintenance? I'm so disappointed that Alamo has even put themselves into such a liable situation to rent us a vehicle that is clearly not safe for the roads. Shame on you. Incompetent operation.. Alamo billed me for 3 additional days, $155, and have been unable to resolve, After three calls to Alamo I have yet to receive the promised return call. There was confusion at the airport when I returned the car as it did not scan properly so the associate took a picture of my contract. She indicated that rep at the airport failed to update the contract for a change in vehicle. My advise is to INSIST on a receipt when you return the car so you have proof. Otherwise they will yes you to death and do nothing. read more

Rented a car for the 4th of July weekend and the whole process took 5 min. Super easy and fast.

Ruined our vacation, do not rent from them. We had a flat tire and spent a day trying to get the spare put on. I was told that I might be charged for it. Regardless of which number I called I could not get directly to the Savannah Airport. We needed to exchange the car because ours was unsafe to drive. Customer Service told us they couldn't help us and had us call roadside service. Roadside service said we needed to call customer service. At this point we will be driving an unsafe car one hour back to the airport at 5:30 a.m. A horrible experience to say in the least. read more

Docked one star because they quoted and charged me for returning the car with 2 gallons short of a full tank. I might have driven 20 miles after filling the tank the previous evening. I didn't expect to visit Alamo at SAV but when the car I rented from another Alamo station 100+ miles away caught a flat tire on a holiday, this was the only place nearby open to help. Everyone I interacted with at this station was so helpful in getting us back on the road quickly and with no drama. The gal inside at the counter was professional and took care of all the paperwork. The guy outside in the lot offered to help with loading and unloading our bags. We didn't need the help but it's great to be asked-- and very rare nowadays. I am a loyal Alamo customer of over 25 years but their Savannah location is awful. As usual I did on line check in so I could be quickly on my way. Unfortunately at SAV you MUST stop at the counter. Although all my information is in their system, "Calvin" proceeded to grill on every question. I of course declined their insurance and was asked a question I had never been asked before, "who is your insurance company and how much are you covered for?" I complained to corporate and was promised by "Angelica" I would be contacted by someone at SAV. Still have not heard anything. We received an email confirmation of our previously made reservation. We arrived at the Savannah Airport only to be told as a group of many passengers aboard the flight, that there were no cars available. We were told to call the manager in the morning for "reimbursement of our cab fare to Hilton Head Island" Bottom line, no car, no answer on the Manager's phone, no reimbursement. They had my email address and instead of sending a reminder for pickup, they should have sent a notice that there were "no cars available" Goodbye Alamo....Goodbye National ...including my Emerald club membership. More than a week ago an Alamo renter hit my car. The next day I reported it as the driver had not. I checked back a week later and was told I would hear back from claims within 7 business days. They said they couldn't give me a number for claims but they would connect me if I hadn't heard by COB Monday (today). Unless I get a call tonight, the 7 business days are up with no call. I'm glad I have never, and will never, rent from Alamo if this is the customer service that is provided. Be assured I will call in the morning and get some response or know why not. read more

By far the most pleasant rental car experience I've had. It helps that the airport is small, but we walked up to the counter and there was no line. The check in process took under 5 minutes and they actually gave us they keys right at the check in counter with a parking spot number to go to. To our surprise, we only had to just walk outside. No shuttle bus to board (I guess we are just too used to big airports with offsite rental facilities). The car was in good shape and relatively new. It was clean and exactly what we expected (not too small or too big). Upon departing, there was no additional check point, we just drove through the gate. When we returned to the airport, the whole process was once again painless. We were at the security gate in under 5 minutes after we dropped off the car. The staff was friendly and efficient. I am not sure if all the companies at SAV have their facility attached to the terminal, but its amazing to never have to get on a shuttle bus or walk far from the car to the gates. I'd use Alamo at this airport every time it travel. read more

Most experiences I have had with rental car companies haven't been great. However, this one was outstanding - specifically because of an employee named Safari. That's right, his name is Safari and he went above and beyond the call of duty to make renting a car from Alamo a positive experience. He got us the best rate, he was quick, and he was friendly. All of this and it was a holiday too, so I'm sure it wasn't easy for him to be working that day. I walked away thinking, now that's southern hospitality at its finest! In the Savannah airport, this was hands-down the best car rental experience I've ever had. Employees were cheerful and didn't try to upcharge me. They were so fast that we had our car before our flight had all their luggage. The car was clean and nearby. The attendant even gave us a local map and suggestions for good places to eat close to our hotel! A word of caution - they are not open 24 hours.
