This company replaced five of my windows in 2024, and now the biggest one is leaking and has caused water damage to the ceiling in the floor below it. The installers appear to have caulked over some damaged wood and now the caulking is coming off and the wood under it has rotted. I've trusted this company for over 20 years and they have always provided quality work, provided timely repairs (wind damage, for example) and gave a fair price. I first purchased new windows and siding in 2001 and both are still in great shape. Most recently I bought new gutters with a leaf guard and had some trim repaired and replaced. We had a large siding project for a huge addition and wanted James Hardie siding. I spoke with Hardie and got a list of several recommended installers. Hardie explained to me the critical steps necessary to have a quality installation and be eligible for their 30yr. warranty. It's critical that this product be installed properly for a good result, and the steps are listed on their website. This is a costly endeavor like buying a fine suit for your house. You want it done right, so it looks great and last for a long time. I sought quotes from 5 companies recommended by Hardie. Some good, some awful!! Most had the basics correct, but I was impressed when John Kim, the owner, came to my house to look over the project. He emphasized every detail that Hardie recommends and was passionate about the job being done correctly. His expert knowledge and thoughtful follow-up made my decision easy. He even wanted a particular crew to do my house. The crew was headed up by Jay, and he's even more of a perfectionist than John. That became evident on the first day. We walked the project discussed and refined all the details. He provided recommendations based on his experience with Hardie siding. Every step of the way if there was something that could be done better he would contact me so it would be to our liking, and done properly. The crew worked diligently every day from 7:30am till sometimes 6:30pm with only a break for lunch. The work site was always kept clean even during the day. Jay would review all the work that was being done by doing most of the meticulous caulking himself. This allowed him to look at every nail hole and every seam to ensure they were correct. The total job took two weeks in 98 degree Washington weather. The results are spectacular. Our neighbors commented on how good it looks even though it hasn't been painted yet. The primed siding was done that well. Even after we were done, we noticed two vents that the HVAC had placed on the front of the house, and asked him to move them. Jay came back and replaced two planks in time so the painters could start. John and Jay both wanted us to be happy with the work even it it meant they had to redo something that wasn't their fault. That's incredible customer service. You can see the difference in the pictures I'm posting. If you need siding, windows, gutters, and especially Hardie siding Nations Choice should be your first call. They are my top recommendation. read more

Nation's Choice Windows replaced my aluminum siding quickly and with incredible craftsmanship. Once there were here, they worked around us and kept our family in the loop on the project. They also cleaned up and provided great support after the installation was done. The only area for improvement was setting expectations for when the project would start. Most of the delays were due to supply chain issues, but we could have used some more regular updates. (The installation was delayed roughly two months after putting our deposit down and about five weeks after the estimated start date.) The major complaint is the no interest for year financing they offered through Dividend (a division of Fifth Third Bank). Dividend put a lien on my house without informing me, miscalculated payoff amount, and took hours of effort to find out they released the lien. Nation choice overall are professional and imagine them as the middle of the road window company that will get you the work horse windows. They are not the Ferrari of windows mind you... so you'll get what you pay for. Installation: This was pretty quick. It took 5 hours for 10 windows. They showed up on time and cleaned up and explained to me about the windows. They had to come twice b/c the initial person who sold didn't get the detail of the colors to match the HOA standards so the person who installed it fixed it. Warranty: Basically the window and labor cost for 10 years) after which the servicing is no longer covered but the cost of the window is. Cost: Middle of the road... they will sell you what the average person will be happy with. Last week, I scheduled someone from Transnational to come over and give me an estimate for exterior work. The day of the appointment, someone from Transnational called me to ask if my wife would be at the appointment. I explained to the person that she runs a small business and that she may or may not be around but that she was comfortable letting me make the decision. Once the Transnational representative came to my house, he refused to give me a quote without my wife. I got the feeling that they wanted to do a hard sell and was not comfortable with leaving pricing behind. I will not do business with companies that rely on sales gimmicks. The Nations choice roofing company and there employees did a fantastic job of replacing rotted plywood, removing the old shingles, plus two older solar panels. The person they sent to give me an estimate (Lonnie) was very knowledgeable about roofing material and how many bundles it would take to complete. Lonnie use to do roofing himself and that was a positive in my book. The employees who installed the roof kept me posted as to when they would have to get more material as this was just the third roof on a 50+ old house. I also appreciate the fact that the company has a finance option if needed plus a small down payment otherwise. Clean up and removal of old roofing was fast. My house needed 44 bundles of shingles. I have had the worst experience of my life with this company. I will try to be as brief as possible. Nations Choice Windows was recommended to me by Home Advisor for gutters, siding, and roofing. I filed a lawsuit against them because they violated our contract and were dishonest in several ways. The job was done on a rental property, meaning I was not there, and the crew showed up to do the job unexpectedly. They did more than was specified in our contract and they added about $4,500 to my total without my signed approval. They also added to the invoice a "change order fee" of $550.00 which they will have to explain to the authorities. I took 25 days after the (supposed) completion of the job to pay because I was unsatisfied with it and the way they went about completing it. The owner, John Kim and Chelsea Clark, the office manager, threatened me in various ways and times. They are arrogant and condescending. Once I noticed they were dishonest in their operations, I called a Fairfax County inspector, who found several other violations. For example: They didn't put new step flashing, breaching the contract that states that all material shall be new. They didn't install the ice shield according to code. They also failed to get permission from the county to replace the plywood, this unbelievable. Now they will have to explain it to DPOR. It would be a good idea for those who have hired or are looking to hire this company to have their projects inspected to make sure they did/will do everything according to the latest codes. Also be sure to read the contract thoroughly since it is written in their favor. I am very grateful to the Fairfax County staff for their intervention. read more

I have three skylights that required "special" treatment and I received outstanding one-day installation plus several follow-up visits to assure the skylights were successfully wrapped. If I could leave no stars I would. I received a cold call from this company despite the fact that we are on the do not call list, however we needed new siding so I agree to a free in home appraisal for the job. The salesman said he needed to take measurements and would give us his "best price quote" he doesn't believe in negotiating. He was very proud of his company's status with Angie's List! So 3 hours later we had discussed new windows, siding and replacing our sliding glass door. So his quoted amount was for: 2,500 square feed of siding $33,000 17 new Windows $11,000 French Doors to replace our sliding glass door $7,800 That's right $51,800, which according to the salesman was 30% under retail. After he left we did a quick search trying to figure out how our budget for the project was so off and according the Angie's List the siding should have been around $6,800. So the company that the salesman was so proud to say he was a member of, just undercut him by $26,200. I was called by this company representative to find out if i needed new Gutters and Downspouts. I had never really thought about changing them but i knew that if i kept getting on top of the roof to clean the leaves out of the gutters something bad was going to happen to me one day, so my wife and i decided to have the work done by this company. Their representative came out and explain why it was to my benefit to have the gutters done and even explained about covers to keep the leaves from getting into the gutters. I signed the contract and the work was started and finished on 3/17/2015. It took them about three hours and everything was completed and cleaned up to perfection. I strongly recommend this company because of how professional the people that work for this company are, the quality of their work and attention to detail. I like that when the saleswoman called and the salesman showed up, they didn't push anything i didn't want, they listen and he recommended, they were very knowledgeable and polite. This review is not so much on the performance of the work, but on the continuous annoyance of their calling years after the work is done. We had a siding job done back around 2008, and then had to have a component replaced in roughly 2010. We have had no further business with them since that time. For the past nine years I have received annual calls from this organization trying to solicit additional business. I let things slide for the first couple of years because they are legally within their rights to contact us as prior customers according to the FTC and the Do-Not-Call Registry. Starting in 2013, whenever I would get calls from TNC, I would call John Kim and have ANOTHER conversation with him, reminding him I did not want these calls. He would give me the same response every time... "Sorry, sir, they must be using an old list. I'll make sure to get those old lists removed and make sure your number is removed." I would thank him each time and hope that it would be the end. Well, yesterday (3 June 2019), we get ANOTHER phone call from TNC. I am done. My first action this morning has been to lodge a complaint with the DNC Registry. This is my second action, and my next will be to head to Angie's List. After that, I may go online car shopping and indicate that John Kim is interested in every car for sale at every dealership and to have them call 703-778-5300 to discuss. Mr. Kim, you have ignored your previous customers for the last time. I have been patient for 9 years. You clearly don't care to clean up your act. I have now taken action that perhaps you will listen to. To those considering using these folks... The work performed by this organization is adequate. Yes, they have rough spots, but I don't know too many businesses these days that don't. However, be warned, TNC will NOT abide by the rules of the Do-Not-Call Registry, and will continue to cold call and solicit you after the 18 month period and after you have asked them to remove your number. If you have not been their customer and they have called, report them. If you have been a customer and it has been two or more years since you last initiated contact with them, if they call, report them. Do not let John Kim fool you this long. read more

Nations Choice did an exceptional job replacing our roof. Emmanuel did a great job explaining the product and the process. I requested an attic fan at the last minute and they added the fan happily. Nick scheduled the job and the events unfolded just like he said they would. My yard was cleaner after the workers left then when they arrived. When you call the business, a real live human being answers the phone during business hours, and after business hours. Talking to humans initially is a modern day miracle anytime of the day! I had seven windows installed. I did not get my wrapping done on my home the servicemen stated they did not have the color to match the wrapping. Spoke with the manager Nick, Nick came out a week later to look at The area that was supposed to be wrapped. Nick stared he was unable to Accommodate me and do the wrapping as promised. these guys did our windows and we quite happy with them. unfortunately they cold called us and talked my wife into their coming out to quote a job which they knew beforehand was probably smaller than they liked. the sales guy was so insulting to me, my wife and our home that i came pretty close to physically ejecting him. we arent talking rodney dangerfield insulting, we are talking about endless digs at our home's appearance, my appearance, my wife's appearance, our unwillingness to do random jobs around our house that we weren't interested in. bottom line? they arent getting any more business from us, and i suggest you run and hide. high pressure tactics and judging by the quote for a new roof they gave us, you will probably pay 75-100% too much. read more

John Kim the finance person I was dealing with apparently submitted my loan application to Wells Fargo even though i just wanted a quote on the rate and to think about the decision since the terms changed after dealing with the sales persons. I am now the owner of a Wells Fargo loan i didnt want. I was assured this was cancelled by John but I had to cancel it today when i got the papers from Wells Fargo. I got 10 windows put in, replacing older ones - primarily for noise control and also for appearance. I talked to four other salesmen. Each of them tried to sell me on a different solution, with varying levels of insistence and hard sell. Transnational offered me what I understand to be a good solution, at a fair price. Transnational was very precise about the windows' characteristics. They're good windows, and the installation was done well. I'm very happy with the job. read more

Sided and wrapped entire home and did a decent job...until some caulked areas started coming undone. Called for repairs and was told I'd get a call back...never happened. Called multiple times - still no contact. Eventually got the fix after weeks of waiting. Now a window installed less than ten years ago is falling apart. Two calls in - no contact. Poor customer service to say the least. Need new siding? They'll be right there. Need a fix? Well don't hold your breath. And robo calls aplenty. Not recommended. read more

Several weeks ago, I got an interesting email from Nations Choice (formerly Transnational Corp). The email asked me to leave a review of my experience. I had a very bad experience with this company before they changed their name from Transnational Corp. to Nations Choice, and wasn't planning to leave a review, but since they specifically wrote me to ask for my review, I will do so. I first left a review on Google's review sight as the contractor requested. Within one day, I received no fewer than three threatening emails giving me five days to remove my review. However, in that review as in this one, I wrote only irrefutable facts or my opinion which is protected by the First Amendment. I will never use this company again and in my opinion, you can make a much better choice. Though it's a very long and complicated story, I will boil it down to just a few paragraphs. I hired the company to do about $30K worth of work. At the end of the job, I paid 95% of what I owed. I simply withheld a small amount until some punch list items were completed; certainly a reasonable approach. Rather than complete the punch list items, which included what I believed to be an unacceptably wide gap in my siding (the contractor referred to it as "a credit card-sized gap"), and the fact that they installed a window that was already broken (the vinyl, not the glass), they never addressed these items. Instead, he filed a lawsuit against me. And, yes, he won the lawsuit. However, that had more to do with my making the poor decision to represent myself and the fact that I know nothing about evidentiary procedure, then it had to do with the company being right. I think those reading this review would agree that if a window was installed broken, it should be replaced; the same holds true for the wide gap in the siding. The contractor said the gap was from expansion. In my opinion, it was poor workmanship. He had no answer but a lawsuit for the question: Out of the hundreds of siding boards on my house, why were only one or two seams expanding? It's worth pointing out, that in court, his lawyer advised him to replace the broken window, but he disregarded his own lawyer as that has never happened. The owner will undoubtedly reply to this review, as he did to the Google review, that I signed a certificate of completion. Which indeed I did. He left out an important fact though. I was feeling pressured into signing the certificate so while I did sign it, I also wrote in by my signature, that I was reserving the right to do a more thorough inspection than just a 2-minute look just before dark. In my opinion, if you use this company, you're taking a big chance that you will ever have the job done to your satisfaction. Finally, after the job, I picked up dozens and dozens of nails off of my lawn. While I don't think this was done intentionally, in my opinion, you should be aware of this if your kids play in your yard. Curiously, I now get solicitation calls from the company wanting to sell me additional services. read more
