Nations always has very good customer service and the food is delicious. Their pie is to die for.

I did a to-go order via phone and order was ready within 10 min. The customer service was amazing and the ladies working were so kind and worked really fast! We were impressed with how clean this Nations was. Also, it was nice to see our food being made right there and it was hot and fresh! The food... what can I say?! The burgers are so delish. I usually never get tomatoes, but from Nations, they tasted so fresh and as if they got them from a local garden (tasted more like heirloom tomatoes). So good and enjoyed this visit! read more

They were open late and looked busy enough. The people running the show were very nice and helpful. There were people eating burgers, sandwiches, and breakfast food. It all looked pretty good. We only wanted pie and were not disappointed. The cherry cheesecake, banana cream, and choco coco were delightful. Great burgers and pies!! The wait time for getting order filled was a little longer than expected.

I've heard their pies are really good, so we got one for the birthday cake. We ordered the Cheesecake with Blueberry Topping Pie, made with cream cheese in a hand-pressed graham cracker crust, topped with blueberry compote. It tasted really amazing, it's sweet, with a subtle lemon aroma that would slowly come through. I'd recommend enjoying it with a cup of tea or coffee. I can't wait to try their other pies! read more

Ordered a fries and burger to-go. The hamburger was piled high with three thick slices of tomato, a big chunk of lettuce and sooooo many rings of onion. It seemed like they were trying to hide the meat. Overall, it was an okay snack (5 oz burger). The fries were made to order and came out super hot and tasty. I was in the mood for a slice of pie while in Berkeley on Sunday. Nation's came up as a good option, with a decent selection of pies. I ordered the apple, and the server asked if I wanted ice cream on it. Yes! I have never had pie with soft serve ice cream on top, and such a generous amount. I took it to my table and dug in. Unfortunately it didn't occur to me until my first bite that I should have asked for my pie to have been warmed up first. It would have been all that much better than refrigerated pie. First time trying Nation's. Actually surprisingly good! Not a bad price for how big the burgers are. They're pretty messy and not as well built as Five Guys or as dialed in as McDonalds or In-N-Out, but they have huge, thick slices of onion and a lot of flavor in the patty itself. Tastes like a cross between a backyard BBQ burger and something like The Habit. Fries are nothing special (need more seasoning) but they're hot and fresh. The kind of classic fries that go best with ketchup instead of anything else. Friendly staff, nice location, very clean and classy. I was intending to take my food home with me, but I ended up staying to eat it there because I liked the vibes. Will be back for breakfast and pie sometime!! read more

Stopped by to use the lavoratory after a long trip. I observed that codes were required, and there was signage indicating for "customer use only." The server gave me the code when asked. I ordered a whole cheesecake afterwards with blueberries to take home. It was fresh and delicious. We've eaten off of it a couple times and it is still really good! Eating here was very nostalgic for me. It has been so long since I've had Nation's that I can't compare it to what it used to be but I can say that I wasn't disappointed. And I definitely didn't leave hungry! They don't lie - the burgers are HUGE and filled will all the toppings. I like that they only use mayo and don't add ketchup and mustard because I am not a fan of either. I got a cheeseburger and a side of fries and honestly only ate the fries because I paid almost $4 for them. They were pretty bland and could use more salt. That being said, I'd go back when I'm in the area. I see all the bad reviews about their "terrible service". I wouldn't say they went overboard but they were on par with any fast food establishment these days. I didn't have to ask for anything like ketchup for my daughter's fries as it was on the tray when we got the food. Guess it depends on when you go and who's working. read more

I ordered this for takeout and it was great. Veggies were fresh and crisp. Fries were good, it really hit the spot late at night. I love that it's open late and you can get a good fill from this. Located on University Ave. it's kind of a far walk from UC Berkeley campus, I recommend driving instead. They do have a parking lot in this area. They're also known for their pie so make sure you grab a slice! read more

I ordered my hash browns extra crispy for a togo order and for one to dine in house. They gave me no ketchup for either order and were very stingy with it when I asked. They did not give me strawberry jam as I asked. I reluctantly finished this dine in order even though the hash browns were not turned to cook them crispy as I ordered them I then asked them to cook the hash browns in the to go order some more but they refused. they said I touched them. yes, if they bury your hash browns under your bacon and toast in a small flimsy cheap cardboard box you will have to touch them to remove those items and discover their idea of extra crispy hash browns is not the same as yours. read more

One of my all time favorite spots for an all American burger. Cynthia in particular was very hospitable.

Exploring Berkeley and noted Nation's Giant Hamburgers, a mid-century diner with a throwback menu to match. Opened late, I opted to try their basic giant Hamburger (5 oz.) with all the fixings, i.e., dressing, tomato, onion, and lettuce. Have to say, Nation's pie case looked amazingly enticing! (See pic.) A bunch of classic pies, including (for me) the most mouthwatering - Strawberry Cheesecake. Apparently Peaches & Crème is their signature. And they sell all the pies whole, not just by slice! As far as "Nation's Giant" hamburger goes, it was stacked and big, albeit not the biggest given the U.S. dining experience evolution over the past 70 years. ("Giant" obviously reflects the competitors' burgers in the '50s and early '60s... it ain't no White Castle "slider" and definitely feels larger and fresher than McD's Quarter Pounder.) The meat was like a 100% pure hamburger patty my mom grilled, vegetables freshly sliced, and dressing could have been Miracle Whip - making me feel all the recipes here have been frozen in time, in an especially good way. Nation's also offer breakfasts and shakes, but next time I'll pass by one - definitely will go for a slice of pie! read more

1 star because the customer service was AWFUL. Customer service and great food always draw customers back. Unfortunately I will not be coming to this establishment again. My order was 1 cowboy burger NO BACON. Extra well done and side of onion rings. Specifically told the cashier Shazy infront to please not put bacon on my burger due to being allergic to it. Burger arrives and I had bacon on my burger. I take the burger up to the counter to let her know that I asked for no bacon. As I'm walking away my husband goes up to the counter and the lady is just removing the bacon to hand it back to my husband he sees that and we just ask for a refund. This is unacceptable! Instead of making a new burger the cook thought she could just take off the bacon and hand it back. Not trying to be rude but some people are allergic to some foods and this could've easily been a bad situation. We asked for our refund and the woman Shazy had a nasty attitude. She also forgot to ring us up for a pie. Just a mess overall. I wasn't even mad that the bacon was given on my burger but the attitude that was given. I never come to this location today was my first time. I usually go to the San Pablo location. Where my order is NEVER incorrect and they ALWAYS have great customer service. Please take note this employee Then another cashier came and I talk to me his name is Miguel he assisted me immediately and fix the problem with well mannered, and he apologized for what happened. When I'm craving to a late-night burger, I go to Nation's. I go this Nation's a few times a month to get either a hamburger or cheeseburger with fries. Both burgers always taste juicy and satisfying, while the fries are nice and crisp. As for the restaurant, it's nice, clean and big. There is plenty of seating available. The staff is also nice and quick. They ring up my order accurately and quickly, and don't usually have to wait long for my order. This Nation's will continue to be my top late-night spot. read more
