    LEMON MERINGUE PIE (WHOLE)
    Jill B.

Nation's pies are the best! My favorite of all time is their lemon meringue. The meringue is so fluffy and delicious! It's so fluffy that it doesn't quite fit in the box without the top getting smushed a bit, but that's okay because fluffy is best for meringue. My husband likes the banana cream so we usually get both when we are in town. The food is good too, fries are always hot and my kids like the grilled cheese. They are usually busy so the service is fine, you order at the counter and pick up your food when they call you. We mostly come for the pies, try the lemon meringue if you like lemon! It's the best! PS if you're here during strawberry tart season, definitely get one (or more). They are also amazing. (I believe it's around May-June.)

Stopped in for a snack of french fries and a slice of banana cream pie for home. Always a great place if you are craving for breakfast, a good burger, a slice of pie, OR looking for whole pies!

If you grew up in the Bay Area, Nations is a staple burger joint and classic breakfast place. I recently saw they have breakfast burritos. I decided to them a try. I was pleasantly surprised and the portion was really good that I had to take a later lunch.

I love burgers, and Nation's is my favorite burger out of any place. Their burger is always consistent. if you haven't been to Nation's, they pack burgers with lots of veggies. When you get your burger, you will have 5+ layers of iceberg lettuce, a few slices of tomatoes, and a whole slice of onion. So I always ask for light tomato and sub the onion for grilled onions. Also, they don't put any condiments on your burger except Miracle Whip. If you don't like Miracle Whip, try their burger because it might change your opinion. If you're vegetarian, try their Harvester burger. I'm not a vegetarian and I think it's excellent. I believe the patty the use is from Dr Praegers. Their fries is not bad either and I like to order them extra crispy. If you like pies, their banana cream pie is a must-try!

I absolutely love there cream cheese pies. I love that they are in my neighborhood. Fast friendly service.

Most employees here are friendly and courteous. Each time server Krissia G is working the register she's unfriendly doesn't greet she didn't not share my total amount. She walked away and prepares the 2 half pies. I don't feel welcome when she at the register. Management should view videotape when she's at register

Can I just say that Nation's has my favorite version of grilled cheese as of yet! It nice and cheesy, full of veggies and the breads perfectly toasted. They do put tons of mayo on it though so be sure to ask for lite mayo if you don't like a bunch. I also got a Vanilla shake but it was kind of watery. I put it in the freezer and then after a few hrs it was pretty good. I did have it delivered though so that may have contributed to that factor.

I went in at 9p. Placed my order over the phone. It wasnt very busy at all. I should have checked my order but I trusted they knew what they were doing, especially since it wasnt busy. Its clear that I ordered a cheese burger and there is no cheese anywhere on this burger. Tomorrow I will return and ask to speak to management. Thoroughly disappointing

It's 2022, and Nation's is celebrating it's 70th birthday. This restaurant chain is based in the SF Bay Area, and now has locations all over Northern California. It's a diner style, "cook to order" restaurant. It's menu features: hamburgers, fries, drinks, onion rings, breakfast and pies. The other day, I was at San Leandro Plaza around 9pm and decided to stop by the Nation's there. It was a little crowded, so I waited for some of the customers to clear out. Right now, the Covid-19 policy posted on the door said.....un-vaccinated persons must wear masks inside. When I went in, the worker behind the counter was wearing a mask. So, I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger (lite onions), Fries, and a slice of Apple pie. Total price: $20. Bacon Cheeseburger is $10.35. Hmmm, maybe I should go back to regular Cheeseburgers. Anyway, the guy cooking my burger was pretty friendly and talkative. As more people came in, he had to concentrate on keeping track of filling orders. More staff came out to help out. I guess I waited about 15 minutes for my order. That's about right. It looks like Nation's uses a simple flat grill with no clamshell press. That means it takes longer to properly cook a 1/3-lb meat patty. Then you need to drop fries and watch the timers. Service, Grade (4/5) How was the food? Grade(4/5): Bacon Cheeseburger was cooked medium. I asked for light onions, and I got chopped onions. Bacon was a little chewy, but there's a lot of bacon. Good amount of lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Fries were hot and fresh as expected, right from the kitchen. And I got a big piece of Apple pie. BTW, Doordash adds extra $$$ to the menu prices. If you want hot and fresh food, at in-store prices, you have to go to the restaurant and order it in person. French fries have a 7-10 min holding time. If it takes longer than 10-mins to get to your house, they will lose their freshness. So, overall a 4-star experience at Nation's in San Leandro. Support Local Business! Free parking

I like to look for new spins on lattes to see what barista's are whipping up to make things unique. I came in thinking I was going to get a basic latte, but the Borgia Mocha caught my eye! I asked the cashier if it was a good choice and she recommended it. I was a little unsure how the two would blend and how much orange they would use in it, but it came out amazing! Honestly probably one of the top 10 unique mocha's I have tried and it was delicious! I loved the burst of refreshing orange that complimented the chocolate. The flavors danced on my tastebuds like two separate flavors that blended together as one. Each holding their own note that added value to the drink making it unique. I was instantly impressed and wish I found this on more menus! A classic mocha with a refreshing twist of orange was a pleasant surprise! I'm so glad I stopped in for a pick me up! I also loved all the art on the large walls and there looked to be plenty of tables and seating for people to eat and work at.

Was meeting up with a friend from Berkeley and he found this spot in between the both of us. Pros and cons! + The coffee - holy shit. Got a cortado. And drank it without sugar it was so good. A touch of bitter (it's coffee - duh!) but so smooth, almost nutty but buttery at the same time. + Got a chicken salad sandwich. It came stacked HIGH with hints of sweetness and curry. Freshest produce. Honestly, I was hungry but could only eat half of it, it was so big. + Friend got a warmed cinnamon bun. Incredible. Yeasty, chewy almost crisp on the outside but pillowy soft on the inside. + Wide open space inside -- high ceilings, one big central area. Not tucked away spaces -- which might or might not match your preference. + Perfect amount of coffeehouse buzz. Music playing lowish in the background and lots of conversations. Just enough to quell my ADHD tendencies. * Honestly can't think of any negatives. Prices are a bit high but happy to pay it for such a quality experience. I think my cortado was decently priced -- maybe $6 or so? Sandwich was $18 or so but done really well and came with a bowl of soup (chips, fruit, and something else was an option instead of soup, but tomato bisque with a sandwich? Divine.) - An hour away from where I live but if you live anywhere East Bay, my curse is your blessing ;-)

We really enjoyed all the food (chilaquiles rojos and the verdes with meat, and three quesabirrias). We couldn't finish it all! You can tell it's all homemade, which is nice. A lot of places don't make their chilaquiles sauce from scratch. We'd definitely return. The only thing I'd pass on is the Vietnamese coffee. Maybe it was our fault for ordering this at a Mexican spot, but it tasted more like cold brew than Vietnamese coffee.

It took a few minutes for us to be greeted and then seated and then some more time after that for our waitress to take our orders. I ordered the Tom Yum crab omelet; my friend ordered the eggs benedict, and we agreed to share the ube pancake on the side. I also ordered the ube latte to drink while my friend ordered the matcha latte. When we got our drinks, mine tasted like milk with light ube flavoring and my friend didn't care for her drink either. I'll bet if we had ordered Thai iced teas, it would've been a lot better. It didn't take too long until our food arrived. We tried the ube pancake first and unfortunately it wasn't that great. The pancake itself was dry and tasteless and the small serving of syrup it came with didn't help. I'm sure the ube pancake entree was a lot better as we saw someone next to us eating it and it was topped with fruit and whipped cream. That would have definitely helped with the taste and dry texture. The omelet was really good though. The sauce was delicious and it was a perfect combination with the rice. I wasn't too crazy about the crab, but I loved everything else about that dish. I ended up sharing a bit of it with my friend as she said she wasn't happy with her meal. I saw our waitress glance to see if we were doing ok, but it seemed like she didn't want to interrupt our conversation. I noticed that she was the only one on the floor and the place was getting busy, but her demeanor seemed a bit cold and she really looked like she didn't want to be there. I'm not sure if I would come back here. The Tom Yum dish was good, but that was about it. Based on other reviews, it looks like their traditional dishes are popular, but for me there are many other Thai places that serve delicious food while providing good customer service. I think that's why I was a bit taken aback with my experience here. I've always received warm welcomes and great service with every other Thai restaurant that I've been to. I might come back to try their more traditional dishes, but it'll be awhile before I return.
