Searched for techs in the area and was originally going to try a another spot until I read their horrible reviews! Thank goodness for Yelp etc. because we were able to find Alan AND he was literally minutes away from us! My boyfriend was having issues with a computer tower that stopped working after a power outage. He tried replacing multiple components with no luck at all. The files he was needing could only be obtained with the computer on while another program was running. So this wasn't just an issue of copying the hard drive and had to get the tower up and running. Well, with a little finagling Alan was able to get it going but when we went to pick her up it decided to not work again. This tower was being super moody lol.. Not to be outdone tho, Alan again began working his magic and was able to 'Frankenstein' our tower into working order because it booted up! I think we all felt the excitement when we could see our homescreen on his monitor lol.. We had a lil blip when we got home as it was trying to not start up again (at no fault to Alan!)‍BUT it eventually decided when it was ready to power up and haven't had any issues since! Alan did a fantastic job explaining the fix that needed to be made, and then returned the laptop within a couple of days (he had to order some glue that was necessary for the fix). Everything is fixed properly, and I am very happy with his work. I'll definitely bring my other laptop to Alan for any upcoming work I might need done. Just as a case in point, I called Best Buy and was faced with a a minimum cost of $200 for their 'diagnostic' service and then repair. Alan, is a very through and patient computer tech that has a variety of services to offer at very reasonable prices. On this event, I wanted to upgrade my graphics card on my desktop p.c.. I found natomas computer tech on yelp, and he replied very quickly to my question about if and how I could upgrade. Alan took my info and suggested what card to shop for. He also explained patiently why some would work and others would not. After purchasing the card he recommended, I made a appointment for the install for a Friday morning. I return home from a pleasant day walking along the coast in amazing 60 degree weather and find that my computer will not boot. It forces me into the BIOS setup utility and I cannot go past it. I email Alan and he responds quickly. I then call him and he attempts to troubleshoot over the phone without success (not for lack of trying). I take it over to his home office where he is able to assess it quickly (during this time I am watching but also enjoying the company of his dogs). Unfortunately for me, the hard drive is dead. Dead. Fortunately, I backed up my photos but did not back up whatever documents were still on the hard drive. Sad day. He said the rest of the components seem to be functioning and that I could put in a new hard drive (he recommended a solid state drive) and of course install the operating system. Sad lesson learned. I came in with a broken computer. I did some pre diagnostic at home and knew something was fried(dead). I found Alan on yelp and was able to contact and drive to his house to get it looked at. Alan charged me $120 hourly rate. Alan basically diagnosc it every way I did and concluded that my motherboard was dead based on the beeping sound of the computer. Aside from recommending me to get a new motherboard and charging $120 for doing the same exact thing I have been doing at home, I felt ripped off. About a week later my new motherboard came in and the computer still did not work after changing the motherboard as Alan insisted. I later found out that the graphics cards were dead. If you are a person who slightly knows about computers I'd say avoid this place. I was basically charged at a pretty penny for professional advice that turned out wrong. I hope Alan will consider giving free diagnostics in the future if he plans on just giving them advice at the end. read more
