    Beef Empanada
    Mike S.

Nautical Café is a quick walk from my parents house and I really liked the fact that they make empanadas for breakfast. That being breakfast empanadas and regular ones too. Nautical Café is a small restaurant that if you were not looking for it you would walk right by it. I think that's also why it had taken us so long to finally go. Since it was breakfast I was went for a light meal. This being only 2 empanadas. I went with my normal go to a beef and and breakfast empanada. The Breakfast Empanada comes with ham, eggs and cheese. Both the beef and breakfast empanadas were cooked perfectly but my issues with both we that they were dry on the inside and especially the beef. I love a juicy beef empanada and this just wasn't it. Had to eat it with hot sauce just to juice it up a bit. The breakfast one was similar and also dry. I will say it was my first time having a breakfast empanada so maybe that's just how they are. It was also mostly egg which is my least favorite of the fillings in it. Sine my parents are so close we will probably give them a second try plus Ashley did enjoy her food more then myself so this will also give me the chance to possibly try something new.

    Delicious Cuban Food!

I'm vacationing from California and wanted a little Cuban nibble. We had Croquettes and a Cheese/Guava empanada. The empanada reminded me of a childhood memory of my mom and grandma making dough with powdered sugar. It was delicious!!! The Cortaditos were amazing! I highly recommend!

Great food. The owner works the register at this walk up restaurant. We shared a Cuban it was delish. All seating is outdoors and just across the street from the beach. Perfect place for lunch at the beach.

Always great food Outside seating and great fast service Owners are so nice The Cuban sandwich is my favorite

The Nautical Cafe is a true gem of a Cuban cafe in Melbourne Beach. You'd be hard pressed to find better Cuban food in Miami, Tampa or Havana. They have a lot of the classics along with a few unusual items like lentil/plantain empanadas. There's a good selection of vegetarian options and the tostones are some of the best I've ever had, crunchy on the outside and creamy inside. Seating is very limited and is all outside, although there is a good amount of shade.

I first tried this place when I visited Melbourne Beach a few years ago. I come back here every chance I can get. The Fish Sandwich is outstanding! It's so simple but so delicious. Not frozen fish like typical restaurants. You could never go wrong with their Cuban Sandwich. Their pork is sooo good! ...especially with that chipotle aioli they make. I also got to try the Seafood empanada today. (i want more!) So so so good! Can't forget the Guava & Cheese empanada for desert. My daughter (and me!) loves them!!

Holy delicious!!! We've driven by before but HAD to stop! Delish!!! Super friendly, clean, and oh so delicious!! We will definitely be back! Service is excellent, made to order & quick! Thank you! PS DONT miss the guava & cheese Empanadas! Get more then you think you'll want!

DELICIOUS Cuban dishes. Two options for fish & chips - cod was fresh and flaky. Pork mojo was moist and super flavorful- comes with yellow rice, black beans (meh), and sweet plantains (YUM). Friendly staff, quick service, view of ocean- what could be better for a warm Florida afternoon lunch?

ALWAYS GOOD. We live local to Melbourne Beach and we come here every Saturday and order pretty much everything on the menu. The yuca is fresh, the loaded tostones are phenomenal, the empanadas are ALWAYS good. (Ask for a little lime to add to them) the plates they offer are great portions for the price and as everyone says, order the guava and cheese empanadas! They are the best when needed a sugar fix. The atmosphere is nice, the service is great and it's the best choice before heading to the beach. We haven't found Cuban like this in the area that comes close. The location is a little tricky when it comes to parking but if there's a spot, take it. Don't let that deter you! The best part of this spot is the price! You can order the whole menu practically without breaking the bank. Definitely stop here on your way south!

A delight place just a short walking from the ocean. For me, it's the authentic Cuban coffee. Served sweet as it should be. The also have many other Cuban dishes. Plantains. Black beans. Friendly service. Outdoor seating only.

Really friendly service with a smile which is refreshing in todays world. Even better, the food and coffee is spot on. I had a breakfast sandwich and an iced latte and my friend had empanadas and croquetas. Everything was fresh and tasty, came out fast and hot. I hadn't been here yet but will definitely be back!

As soon as we were seated, we were greeted by Brandon, who was incredibly friendly and had a great sense of humor. He made us feel welcome right away and provided outstanding service throughout our meal. To start, I tried the new Lychee cocktail, and it was delicious! We also ordered the Meg Threesome appetizer, which was flavorful and perfect for sharing with the table. The Kilkenny sandwich was absolutely amazing. If you've been missing a classic New York corned beef sandwich, this is definitely the place to satisfy that craving. I also loved the Irish Cuban sandwich--it was juicy, packed with flavor, and a fun twist on a classic. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and incredibly cheesy. The chicken pot pie was generously sized and full of flavor. And of course, you can't beat the 18¢ cup of bean soup--such a fun tradition and a great addition to the meal. Even though the restaurant was busy, the service never skipped a beat. There was live music, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the entire experience was fantastic. We'll definitely be back!

With such a prime location right on the beach, it feels like it could be an incredible restaurant and a serious revenue generator, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like much has been invested into the property. I was surprised to hear that it supposedly has the same owners as Dijon's Restaurant up the street, which has a much more polished and upscale feel. The difference between the two is pretty dramatic. During our visit, a lot of the staff seemed to be standing around waiting for customers, and the whole place just felt like it was missing some energy. The outdoor dining area is dated and not particularly inviting. The windows and exterior show plenty of wear from the beach weather--which is understandable in this location--but the overall space still needs some attention. If you do eat here, I'd recommend staying downstairs. Upstairs had more of a pool hall/dude-hangout vibe and definitely wasn't where I'd choose for a romantic weekend dinner with my wife. This feels more like a beach-day, grab-some-grub kind of place that happens to occupy the building of a much larger restaurant. There's a ton of potential here, but right now, they're really missing the ball on what this location could be. Probably would not return unless the place gets a significant refresh.

Got to the restaurant and the elevator was not working so we had to sit downstairs where it is stuffier and less of a view. The menu for breakfast had changed and was meager!!! I had the avocado toast. Nothing special. My husband had the pancakes. They were fluffy. The server was gracious, the hostess could really careless as she continued to lean on the podium. Asked about the menu online and was told "yeah, it changed awhile a go, but the owners haven't updated the website." We will now be looking for a new family tradition.

Food, service, and overall feel, meh. Let's get into this. Clocked in at 1:00 pm. Clocked out at 2:15 pm. Frankly an hour for some Burgers and a sandwich is a bit extreme. Certainly we could have overlooked the service, but the food was just OK. But as far as the service, sure one server for the whole place, it's gonna be epic. NOT! I was also a little put off how limited the menu was. Then again, I'm pretty sure they want you in the tavern part, not the dining part. I had the special Avocado GoGo. It was bad bad. You can see from the pictures not much in the way of avocado. They should have called it an olive tampanade with a slice of cheese. Yeah one. At least the olives were good. My wife had the Mansion Burger. It was good. Very sloppy and who doesn't like a sloppy floppy burger. The fries came out cold, no biggie. When we mentioned it, they brought us two giant bowls full of fries. They were great. All in all meh. Now, if you drink, you want to visit their tavern. That looks so cool. Go there for that.
