Butternut Squash Soup + Lionhouse Roll

Nauvoo Café is very nice and cozy, a perfect place at historic Temple Square. FOOD OVERALL SERVICE OVERALL PRICE OVERALL Sandwich quality+price Soup quality+price Turkey Pot Pie q+p Salad q+p Their Turkey Pot Pie is my all time favorite (worth $8.99 +tax). The crust is flaky and buttery and the filling is exactly that--filling! I never come away hungry when I have their pot pie. Their soups are good, comes with a delicious roll, both for $4.84 (includes tax, explaining how many times I've had their soups). My favorite soup is Loaded Potato, then their Cauliflower, then their Clam Chowder. Their sandwiches were delicious, but a few months ago when they reopened after the pandemic shutdown, their recipes changed. Their prices also went up. I don't get a sandwich anymore unless they are out of my first two faves. The staff are very kind and helpful.

I work kitty corner from Nauvoo Cafe, and have been here for over nine months, and just barely tried Nauvoo Cafe for dinner a couple weeks ago. I got the turkey cranberry sandwich. It was warm, which I didn't expect. But I loved the bread, and the sandwich as a whole was really good. I loved my half nuts and berries salad as well, although I could use crumbles of cheese instead of square chunks. Maybe we're splitting hairs here. My man got the beef dip sandwich, which he really enjoyed. The next time I went with him, he got the grilled cheese, and oh my word. I had a bite of his, and it was so good. If only I could fit it into my calorie goals. My favorite thing about Nauvoo Cafe is that they have BYU Creamer chocolate milk, which is far superior to any other. Their service has been OK each time, and their prices are pretty good in my opinion. I'll definitely be coming back. It's delicious and a two minute walk, so why not?

Great little cafe. Nice and quiet. Perfectly located. We stopped in for lunch during our afternoon stroll between the square and the mall. Food was just enough for the price and well cooked.

When a restaurant is the "only game in town," there is a great risk of resting on one's laurels ... risks of a purgatorial level of culinary mediocrity. The question remains is the Nauvoo Cafe ... poised in the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Smith Building ... resting on its laurels because it's this only reasonably priced cafe dining in the joint? Their best selling point is their menu. They have one-of-a-kind choices they have like the Coca‐Cola Pork Loin and the Hawaiian Ham Zinger (with Pineapple Mango Chutney). They have the tried-and-true classics like hot dogs, grilled cheese, BLT (with an "A" for avocado added), and a PB&J sammy. They also make a perfect pot pie ... at least my memory from having it some 8 years ago tells me so. I only have one "meal" to base my Nauvoo review on ... today's Nauvoo's Original Turkey Cranberry: oven-roasted turkey, provolone, red onion, lettuce, tomato, and their signature "Cranberry Orange Relish." I love turkey cranberry sandwiches, so I have a high standard. That being said, it was a ho-hum sandwich. Everything's fresh, but all the ingredients together make for a muddled taste ... they've got excellent turkey, and IMHO simple is better. Have turkey, mayo, a cranberry sauce (sans the gigantic mandarin orange chunks). A good cranberry sandwich needs nothing else. And, as I may mention, a member of our group waited 20 minutes for a salad. My guess is their "buzzers" don't cover the distance from the prep area to their far tables. They've got so many originals, I'll definitely be back to try some others!

Dessert selection. Honey Butter and Raspberry Honey Butter on bottom row, for use with Lion House rolls which are sold by the dozen here.

If you read no further than this...get the TURKEY POT PIE! Located in the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, it is a delightful counter-service cafe that has a few great items for those at Temple Square and wanting a quick and easy lunch (breakfast and dinner also available). - TURKEY POT PIE is a standout item; the turkey is moist and plump, the dough is delicious - BYU CREAMERY ICE CREAM is transported here for sale in 4 flavors: Raspberry Lemonade, Roasted Almond Fudge, Cookies and Cream, and Graham Canyon (the best one). If you like the taste of graham cracker then you must try Graham Canyon, it's delicious. Serving sizes are for an individual - SANDWICHES are pretty good, served on white or wheat Ciabatta bread, though they feel a bit pricey at $8.50 ((as of May 2018) and definitely not large enough to feed more than one average eater. COCA COLA PORK LOIN and the TURKEY CRANBERRY are the best-sellers. Previously they had an Italian Roast Beef that was outstanding but it has been removed from the menu. Tragic. It doesn't feel like a bargain that you'd keep coming back to, but for an excellent turkey pot pie and sandwich, with a BYU Creamery ice cream...it's a very good option if you're at Temple Square and wanting a quick bite to eat. Other restaurants in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building are on the top floor and overlook Temple Square: The Garden (table service, lunch and dinner) and The Roof (fine dining buffet, dinner-only).

The sandwich I ordered was AMAZING, my only problem is don't call yourself a cafe if you don't sell coffee!!! Granted it's located right on Temple Square and most definitely has heavily Mormon clientele.. yet they sell soda which has caffeine??

The Nauvoo Cafe is a good stop if you need something quick while at Temple Square. The food is good. I have had both breakfast and lunch at the cafe. For breakfast, their egg sandwiches are a great deal and are made fresh while you watch. I also enjoy their muffin tops but recently they started packaging them. They still taste the same but I get a 'less fresh' feeling now. Lunch is primarily sandwiches. For the portion size, the price seems a little high. It's biggest draw for me is the convenience when I am at Temple Square and don't have time to go to City Creek or a restaurant.

Turkey pot pies for the win!!! I finally had the chance to sit down and try the famous pot pies it was absolutely delicious. I did put some chalula hot sauce and it was even better. We also tried the french dip and that was great too. The au jus was really beefy. The cafe is inside the Joseph Smith memorial building so just follow the tasty smells and order yourself a pot pie.

Although not physically in Temple Square, this cafe is owned and run by the church. A very small but tasty selection of lunch items. But for you non-Mormons, just know that there is no coffee or tea served in the cafe as it does not conform to the acceptable beverages of the church. There are sodas. Overall, a very nice, large, sunny space.

Great little cafe right inside the memorial building in Temple square. Don't get anything but the homemade turkey pot pie. It is THAT good. Huge cubes of tender turkey in a creamy sauce. The crust has the perfect buttery flakiness. I would take home a dozen if I could.

Well, I must have loved it since I went twice!! First day tried the BLT as well as a chocolate croissant which is to seriously die for, it is a must. Kiaya (lord I hope that is right) was my server and she was excellent. I had a Pellegrino Blood Orange soda along with my lunch and loved the salad dressing as well! The sandwich was with 1/2 salad and 1/2 potatoes, yum yum. The second time, I had Connor (he will remember Sheldon) who served me. He was awesome. I tried out a blueberry mimosa, an iced mocha and a water (I had been walking a lot and was tired and thirsty, don't judge). Then I just wanted that dang BLT again! I also ordered another almond chocolate croissant (I know, I know, should have tried something else). Well I did get a cookie too! My lunch was taking a little long, so they also brought out a couple of pastry items to try as well, so yum yum! The Chocolate Macaroon was also so wonderful and I cannot say enough about this quaint spot. It did fill up during lunch on the Thursday, so get there early or late! PROS: Main street, easy access from transportation/offices Great selection of homemade pastries Nice choices for drinks (obviously, I tried a few) Super quaint bistro style inside Outside seating under shade and a tree Attentive and exceptional employees (CONNOR) CONS: Parking may be an issue, although some on-street parking available DON'T THINK, JUST GO! This went perfectly with the coconut milk chai latte, served in these beautiful large mugs. After seeing every other person get a croissant doughnut, I had to go back and get a maple one. Flakey, soft on the inside with a cream filling and a light maple frosting. When I arrived it was not yet busy but over the hour, it definitely proves to be a morning hot spot. I thought it sounded yummy since I enjoy matcha and ube. So I checked it out today for a post-lunch dessert. I really enjoyed it and definitely plan on returning to try some of their other offerings. Today I ordered the matcha ube shaved ice and the cherry blossom latte (I had them make mine using coconut milk). I ate the shaved ice at the cafe and took the cherry blossom latte to go because I wanted to drink it later. They put it in a cute bag! Since it was my first visit there I wanted to try the ube and matcha separately, so for the shaved ice I ordered matcha shaved ice on the bottom, followed by the matcha soft serve and then the ube soft serve on top of that. Next time I order the shaved ice, I think I will most likely have the matcha shaved ice with the matcha/ube twist soft serve on top now that I know how each one tastes on their own. I also would do matcha shaved ice with just the ube soft serve on top. Or maybe ube shaved ice with matcha soft serve on top. The matcha was tasty, and like other reviewers have said, you can tell it's good quality matcha. I really enjoyed the ube, it was very yummy to me. I think for my next visit I'm going to try the ube parfait. The cherry blossom latte was good. I got the sweetened version (it was lightly sweetened not super sweet, which I liked). I didn't want something super sweet. It didn't/doesn't have matcha in it. That was fine with me because I wanted to save it for later and didn't want to have caffeine later in the day. I do think it would taste good with matcha in it though. Overall I enjoyed this cafe. I look forward to trying more items. As of right now the other things I want to try are the ube parfait, the shaved ice again, the warabimochi, the hojicha yuzu latte, and the strawberry matcha latte. If you like matcha and/or ube, I would definitely recommend checking out Matcha Café Kyoto. I know I will be again. Support a local business so that they are able to stay around for us to enjoy.

She then asked if I'd like cream with it, I had asked if she suggested it and she responds with "well everyone gets it with creamer". Ok so I agreed to try it out. Why not cause everyone gets it with creamer right? I waited about 10 mins, which isn't bad considering the amount of people. She called my name and had 3 other drinks with her. I asked her if the one she was handing me was with oatmilk , and she says "well that's what you ordered right" I tried it and it wasn't oatmilk. I brought it up to her attention and she kinda just said "sorry" and that was all....unfortunately, I can't say it was the best service. If I decide to come back next time, I'll only get straight matcha instead of a latte just to try again. The matcha didn't have a strong taste to it. It was on the watery side.
