From that moment on, everything was outstanding. The store manager inspected my car, gave me a clear estimate, and an expected completion date. I was shocked (in the best way) when he said it would be ready by Tuesday. The price was also very reasonable, much lower than I had expected. Since I needed a rental car, I planned to walk to Avis in the rain, about 20 minutes away. But the young lady at the front desk stopped me and said she would ask her boss to help. A minute later, the store manager personally drove me to the rental location. The kindness truly meant a lot to me, especially because of the unusual events I had to go through that day. I arranged an after-hours drop-off with Lisa, who told me the key drop was "a box near the front door" and confirmed my arrival time. When I showed up, there was no visible or clearly marked drop box anywhere. While I was walking around trying to find it (like any normal person would) the POLICE showed up and detained me because they thought I was breaking in after seeing me on the security cameras.
