    Chicken Wrap Shawarma
    Michael V.

I found them on Yelp and was sold as soon as I saw "shawarma." I did not realize it was at the Sinclair Gas Station or that there is not yet seating until we were there. I am glad, though, because I would have missed out on this hidden gem. We ordered: - Beef Shawarma Wrap: 5/5 It was a generous amount of meat with a delightful tahini sauce and acidity from the pickled turnips. The parsley added a pop of freshness at the finish. - Chicken Shawarma Wrap: 4.5/5 The flavor was much more simple, but the garlic sauce was next level and carried it. The pita for the wraps seemed fresh, and had that balance of crisp on the grilled outside while soft on the inside for the right amount of chew. I am not sure what sauce was added as they grilled it, but it was great, too. The owners seemed really nice and we are hoping that they blow up, especially once they are on Door Dash and Grubhub.

Someone sent me a TikTok about a shawarma place in a Sinclair gas station, and it looked great, but would it taste great? The answer - absolutely!!! We tried the chicken shawarma wrap and the beef shawarma wrap. Both were amazing. The chicken was full of flavor and beef was tender and delicious. After the chef builds the wraps, he puts them on the flattop with some sauce to create a crisp crust. The chef was so nice and friendly. I will definitely be back for more.

For it just being them two service was still pretty fast! I got the chicken shawarma and it was quite delicious! The flavor was strong and the garlic spread added that extra flavor. The crispiness of the wrap was everything. They also gave an extra side of the garlic sauce which did not go to waste. The size of the wrap is also great, and I was full after eating it. Definitely give this place a try!

Tried the chicken shawarma and it was the best! Juicy chicken, flavorful garlic sauce, pickles, and crispy pita! I love the extra time they take to baste and grill the pita wrap, which makes it super crispy to perfection! I can see them expanding and hiring more people since right now, it's just a husband and wife team. Hole in the wall, but MAJOR flavor! Also the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies at the gas station register is a must have as well!

Less than half the container full is what was given to dip my dry shawarma.

I got SO MANY people sending me to try this place because I'm the foodie of my group; for this reason I'm so disappointed that I had higher expectations like, a better seasoned sauce, juicer meat, and maybe at least an extra piece or two of meat in the hallow shawarma. I hope it was just unlucky me and hope as they grow they make adjustments.

    Shawarma

Tucked inside a quiet gas station in Aliso Viejo is one of the biggest surprises I've had in a long time. This little shawarma spot delivers flavor like a full‑scale restaurant. The beef shawarma was tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with rich, savory depth, and the portions were generous. But the garlic sauce absolutely stole the show. Creamy, bold, and addictive, it took the whole meal to another level. You'd never expect food this good from a place this hidden, but that's exactly what makes it special. A true local gem worth going out of your way for.

I was hoping the leftover falafel would taste better the next day, but sadly, it didn't. Chicken and beef kabob were decent. Kinda bummed how they didn't have some sort of combo bowl. You'd have to buy extra meat if you wanted to try different meats together. The extras and sides were quite pricey, too. We also tried a variety of flatbreads. The spinach and cheese was our favorite. We liked the zataar one, and the meat with jalapenos was just ok. The thick creamy garlic sauce went well with the thin, crispy flatbreads, while the runny white sauce tasted bland and slightly bitter (unpleasant with everything, to be honest). Overall, the food is fine, but I wouldn't go again. A few tables were available inside the small, simple-looking shop, but it felt a bit awkward eating there. Staff were not very attentive, but once we got their attention, they were helpful.

The plate comes with two sides and there were a few options to choose from. I selected a side salad and roasted lemon garlic potatoes. I was trying to be a little more healthy. Otherwise, I probably would've chosen the french fries. The dressing on the salad was really good and all of the ingredients were fresh. It's only about 7 minutes from the parks, making it the perfect lunch or dinner spot if you're craving something flavorful that won't leave you feeling heavy. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The spinach pastry was hands down my favorite, perfectly flaky with a delicious savory filling. The potato pastry was a close second and just as satisfying. If you visit, don't skip the pastries! We also tried the steak and chicken kebab combo plate, and both were cooked perfectly. The chicken was especially tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. You can actually watch the meat being cooked fresh in the back, which made the whole experience feel even more authentic. I ordered the veggie plate with falafel, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, hummus, and tahini sauce, and every single item was delicious. The falafel really stood out. It had a perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior with a soft, flavorful center. Dipping it into the baba ganoush, hummus, and tahini made every bite even better. One of my favorite things was that the meal was incredibly satisfying without feeling greasy or overly heavy. It was fresh, filling, and packed with flavor, but I still felt great afterward. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, and the service was impressively fast. They also have a great selection of Mediterranean spices if you want to bring some of those incredible flavors home. Huge compliments to the chef and the entire team. I placed an online order for the baked fish plate around 12:45 PM and expected a bit of a wait since it was fish. After waiting about 25 minutes, I called and was told it would be another 10-15 minutes. The restaurant was busy, so I understood. However, after waiting longer and checking inside twice, my order still wasn't ready and there seemed to be confusion about its status. In total, I waited close to an hour for an order that was placed online in advance. What bothered me most was seeing customers who ordered in person receive their food before me. It felt like my online order had been overlooked. If online ordering is offered, those orders should be monitored and fulfilled properly, especially during busy times. The food itself was good, but the plate could have been put together better. The fries were placed directly on top of the fish, which made them soggy and took away from the presentation. It would make much more sense to serve the fries on the side. Overall, the food is still good, but the long wait, confusion with the online order, and lack of attention to presentation make me hesitant to rely on the online ordering system again.

Ambiance (5/5): Although we didn't sit inside, it was super cute, with classy boho vibes. The restroom was clean and well-decorated (although, not gonna lie, I don't know how I felt about the big mirror facing the toilet). The outside patio area was airy, and although right by the street, I didn't find it unpleasant. Service (3/5): It was just so-so. They sat us down quickly, gave us our menus and checked on us maybe twice. It wasn't super busy, but we had to wait to ask for things like extra plates and water for our dog. Food Overall (5/5): Food was delicious. We got the beef shawarma lunch special and got fries for the side (extra charge) and also the chicken shawarma lunch special with the hummus side. Beef Shawarma (4/5): It had a nice toasty flavor, perhaps from the spices, and the pickled veggies really complemented it. My only complaint was that I wish it had a bit more of the white sauce (maybe adding more hummus would have helped). It was also strangely a bit watery, maybe from the veggies. Overall, it was still a yummy wrap. Chicken Shawarma (5/5): The chicken shawarma tasted more balanced to me overall. I don't recall the meat being dry, although I did also slather it with a bit of hummus. I thoroughly enjoyed this wrap. Fries side (5/5): Their fries are made in house and it tastes so fresh. It was crispy on the outside yet still gooey and moist on the inside. I'm not sure if they make their own ketchup too, as it looked clumpier and tasted really fresh too. The kids gobbled this up. Hummus and pita (5/5): It came with a generous amount of both hummus and pita. The hummus was well flavored and blended, and it really complemented everything on the table. The pocket pita bread was not what I had in mind (I'm used to thicker ones), but the kids really loved it overall. Ice cream (4.5/5): We ordered two scoops from the dessert menu. They were both really thick, creamy and almost chewy like liquidized mochi. It was a very interesting texture but nonetheless a nice tasty treat on a hot day. I much preferred the vanilla bean, as the pistachio tasted and looked rather artificial (and I'm a pistachio ice cream lover). This place had so many to-go orders during the afternoon we were there. I can see why. Food is super fresh and tasty. I think we will be back the next time we are visiting.

My wife is also very familiar with the cuisine and cooks many of these traditional dishes herself. Last night, we tried BEI in Costa Mesa, and we are both absolutely thrilled to have found it. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He isn't Lebanese himself, but he jokingly told us that he is becoming Lebanese more and more every day just from eating the food here! He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It fully equals what you would eat at a high-quality restaurant in Lebanon. The toum (garlic spread), which is an absolute must for the chicken, was unbelievable. The hummus, baba ganoush, batata harra (spicy potatoes), and the fattoush salad were all absolutely amazing and perfectly seasoned. We finished the evening with an incredible knefeh for dessert. Even the hookah was great--smooth, well-prepared, and the perfect addition to the evening. They have a DJ on Fridays and a belly dancer on Saturdays, giving the space an awesome weekend energy. If you want genuine Lebanese cuisine paired with true Middle Eastern hospitality, BEI is a must-visit. We will certainly be back every time I am in town!
