I was not happy two months ago when i visited, so I gave a second chance. I will never go back. There are over 20 mediterranean and greek places in this area that are much better. The owner does not allow his wait staff to give their names. They grab the menus within seconds. You have to ask for water. Food is poor and service is hollow. Having spent over 150 dollars for 4, I am sorry this place is allowed to treat its staff, customers and the city so poorly read more

I went here for dinner with a couple of friends and I'm pleasantly surprised by this place. It was pretty empty when \we walked in at 7pm on a Friday night. and the ambiance was oh-so okay. But, the best part is the food! Ezme salad is a must try! and the pita bread was so fresh! What you find here and not at many (or any) Turkish restaurants is the Beyti- which is a kebab wrapped in Turkish bread; I ordered the Urfa kebab, that I never tried before. It was bland for my taste buds, but is still very flavorful. And don't forget their tea. To top it, our waitress was very nice and friendly. I'll definitely come back and give it another try, but be prepared for a long lunch! There's only one waitress, so we wound up taking an hour and a half to get in and out. It's a good lunch place, with really good deals on their lunch combos. You get a wrap, salad or fries, a drink and a dessert for around &9-$13. Not a bad deal! We ordered the hummus (which I thought was very good!) that they serve with the wonderful fluffy bread, so a good all-around appetizer. We then got two different combos and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and portion sizes of each. I ordered (and loved) the Adana Wrap. The spices in the lamb were excellent and I loved the pickled onions and such that were wrapped in it. My friend got the Chicken Shish Wrap, but I don't know that she was as impressed. Lastly, for dessert, they didn't have baklava, so we both had to get the rice pudding. Kinda disappointing, but the rice pudding was good. Really good mixed pita! Everything was seasoned well. And great service. I ordered Togo, but would try again and dine in once Covid is over.

Food is good here. It's just the service that they need to improve on; otherwise they would have gotten 4-5 star from me. We didn't get our water till we had to ask for it twice. I did not like the food it was terrible.The doner was horrible it was cut very thin and might from another day and tastes like plastic. I was born in Turkey,and I know how it's supposed to taste it. Among the hundreds of places I had doner this is the worst one indeed. I turned in the whole plate but still charged for it. Rest of the family ate other things which were somewhat all right. Adana dinner plate should be two skews but this one had one and a half. They just made one little longer than usual and cut it half! Portions are not as displaced in the menus! Stopped by late one night with my wife. We arrive at 9 something - shortly before closing - but they took is in anyway and treated us to a great meal. We ordered the Mixed Appetizer and mixed "pride" which is a bit like a Turkish pizza. We shared this between the two of us and this was plenty of food. The appetizer was very tasty. It had a yogurt dip much like tzatziki, humus, a pepper dip and a Turkish baba ganoush? What ever it was it was delicious. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. read more

If your menu says I'll get grilled veggies, well please give me the grilled veggies. Yummy Turkish food. I normally go for Asian and wanted a change of pace. A bit on the pricey side but overall a restaurant worth trying. FOOD We started off with lamacun and the sauce platter that came with yogurt, eggplant salad, hummus, and a tomato-ey spread to be enjoyed with warm bread. I'm easy to please in that happiness to me is basically carbs dipped in yumminess. The eggplant was seasoned delightfully and stood out to me among the others. The lamacun was alright, ordered it to try something new. Very thin, almost crepe thin crispy crust, with ground meat and spices on top, served with red cabbage slaw, lettuce, and marinated raw onions. Spicy and non spicy options available, thought it was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Alinazik -- eggplant garlic sauce bedding, on top of which tender cubed lamb chunks sit. Add some more bread for dipping and tomato slices and you got yourself some magic. For $17~ I thought the portion was a bit small, but all entrees do come with free Turkish tea (you need to ask for it). The tea, although simple, really complemented all the food we ordered. I downed three small glasses. SERVICE Our waitress was nice enough but I could tell she was trying to sell us more food than we had originally planned (the sauce platter wasn't intended lol) and I had to draw the line at dessert. Asides from that she was courteous and refilled our tea many times with all smiles. Led us on regarding the availability of kanefe and did not state they didn't have it until we asked several times after ordering it. We have been going to Nazif's for the last 3 years and it used to be the best Turkish restaurant. Not so any more. The last two times we've been there the service is well below average. No one asked us for water and when we requested water with ice they served us bottled water. They no longer offer free bread as their excuse was COVID although all other similar restaurants (Istanbul Grill, etc) do. The food quality has also gone down although they have increased their prices. But overall because the service now is so terrible that I don't think we will be going there again. read more

I came with my family here for Sunday brunch which was quite pricey ($17.99/person) and although I actually really liked the food there were a couple of issues that could not allow me to give them more stars. First off, there are like over 20 dishes, but there were only 2-3 meat items so I understand the cost of the buffet is high due to the quantity of dishes, but damn. Another issue is that they do not label the dishes which is kind of annoying because even if you liked something, you won't know what it's called. Lastly, the biggest turnoff was that our bill had an "extra item" which I believe was the price of an additional person, might have been slightly bit less. When questioned, staff told us that we the extra item was because we had five people. I just thought it was weird they didn't just charge gratuity, rather than billing for an "extra item." Bottom line, food is good, but I just don't think I can justify paying almost $18 for an almost vegetarian buffet. read more

Today, was my first time at this restaurant with my family, and it was recommended by friend of mine. The service was alright, but they were on top of our head, and didn't give us a time to pick the food. I'm on a special diet so I ordered Tabuleh and Falafel salad. Came in here with a lot of coworkers. Way overdue. The ambience is nice. The service was very attentive. Absolutely loved every dish we all ordered. And when I went around the table and asked everyone about their entrees, everyone gave it a solid 8/10 consistently, which is great! The tea we had was absolutely amazing. I had only 8.5 cups of tea, no joke. Went a little crazy with the tea. I spoke to the owner about it and we had a very interesting long conversation about how he makes his tea. We started with the lahmacun (interesting!) and sample appetizers platter. The taziki type thing in the platter was to die for. Next time I'm ordering a side of just that. Our entree consisted of the wings (unexpectedly delish - i mean really? How do you make such good wings), the beyti which was the ground meat kabobish wrapped and drizzled with cheese on top kinda like an enchilada. I would say the cheese overwhelmed the meat flavor. A week ago we went to Nazif's to have a wonderful turkish dinner but really disappointed.we ordered chicken sheesh kobab, and lamb and chicken adna kabobs The food was not hot and kabobs were really chewy, and tasteless having a lot of starch mixed in meat. The sheesh kabobs were so dry and not tender made out of chicken breast pieces served with boiled rice . on the other hand its really expensive and not worth it to spend in that type of flavorless turkish food. This is review #100 for me. What can I say Yelp, it's been awesome so far. Technically I've been to this place before. Sometime last year, my friend on the wrong side of sanity were sitting outside of this spot, me munching on a Pide (kind of a Turkish pizza), him chain smoking the deep emotional scars away. I didn't really think much about the food. I remember the waitress was nice, and the place was pretty much empty, aside from a couple of guys taking their mid meal smoke, and a couple or 2. FF a year and I return based on a good tip that this place was the business. I'm not yet hooked into the Turkish community, but they do a Turkish Breakfast on Sundays. The place opens @ 10:30 I believe, and I rolled up to a packed house @11:07. There's not nearly enough parking on this corner lot, I ended up parking in the strip center right next door, as were a lot of other folks. Getting my car towed is always on my mind. Space wise - the place is in strip mall next to a Starbucks. It's not big by Houston standards, but it's not small either. Crowd - There were 2 long tables full of families, moms and grannies dressed respectfully, kids running around with tablet pc's, even saw a young man adjusting the volume on the soccer game. Dress Code - It's Houston. It's also Sunday brunch. It wouldn't hurt you to put your loafers on, cause everybody here looks nicely put together Service - I was immediately spotted, asked for my reservation, and then told that the place was packed. I drove all the way here, 20 minutes in the cold, would be easy to handle. The manager spoke to another patron who was dining alone, and then the waitress came to get me. I ended up sharing a table with 2 different strangers, one at the start, and one at the end. As I sat down the waitress poured me a nice glass of hot tea. But the food, the glorious food. It's buffet style, All You Can Eat (AYCE - for my keyword searchers) I haven't been rocking with Turkish food since Istanbul was Constantinople, but they might be right about the giant spread. The back wall was full of warm and cold dishes - 2 egg dishes warmed by sterno cans - a sausage dish in a spicy sauce - phyllo/spinach joint - broiled/roasted potatoes and Turkish braided cheese - 2 chick pea dishes - a couple of olive dishes - more egg dishes - some grape leaves - eggplants covered in yogurt - string beans - a few savory dishes involving walnuts? On the front wall - some Turkish breads - in my view some were focaccia-esque, plain, with herbs, and covered in sheep's milk cheese. - I missed out on the sesame seed loops, not sure what they call them - sausage - farmer's cheese, hard cheese, braided cheese, braided cheese with spices - honey, 3 different types of jam - including APRICOT! - a pudding/custard dessert with "bird's nest" style crunchies on top The Verdict - Everything was excellent. The most memorable to me was the braided cheese, apricot jam, breads, The Damage - ~ 16 bucks + tax and tip. Houston treasure for sure. read more

Having been to Turkiye recently, and having been influenced with many Turkish friends.. I would have to say Nazif's restaurant cooks up some pretty authentic food. I recently came here on a weekend afternoon and to my surprise it wasn't too busy. My family and I were greeted kindly, and were given prompt service. Our food came on time and all of our meals were delicious. We ordered the kibbi (icli kofte) and it was nice, crunchy, and spicy. The lamacun (flat-bread with meat) was flavourful and vibrant when mixed with the pickled cabbage. The kimali pide (meat pie) was hearty with meat and studded with nuts and parsley on top. For dessert, we ordered the rice pudding, and it was cold, thick, and creamy. We ended our meal with some Turkish style tea. This sort of cuisine cant be ended without any tea. There lunch prices are a bit steep, but it's still a good deal when considering all you get. I can honestly say that all the dishes were made well and were quite filling. I'll probably even bring my picky Turkish friends sometime soon. I'm looking forward in trying out their other dishes as well. There are some specific dishes here that I haven't spotted in the other Turkish restaurants that are in town. Oh, and if you're planning on ordering the kunefe for dessert, I would suggest you do that ahead of time, since that dessert takes time in preparing. Turkish Brunch is excellent. It is on Sundays, and open buffet. They have great selection and it is very fresh and super delicious. From the menu items, Turkish meatball sub with creamy cheddar mushroom and melted cheese is a must try. Also please try Nazif's signature menu items. You won't regret. A co-worker invited me to here for lunch - I had never tried Turkish food before and really liked it! Tip: For the newbies, in addition to the regular menu that they hand out, there is also a "picture" book you can request that shows photos of all the main types of dishes they have to help you with your selection. I like that the lunch menu had combos. For only $10-15 (depending on the dish) you get not only the main portion but also a refreshing salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, onion tossed in fresh lemon juice), a fountain drink AND a dessert. Not to mention the complementary bread that they give out and the yummy spices in olive oil to dip it in. After reading all the Yelp reviews, we opted to try the Lahmucan combo - which I thought was really flavorful. Imagine a super-duper thin meat pizza that you put extra fresh ingredients (like onions, pickled cabbage and lettuce) and then ROLL it up and eat it kind of like a taquito. So glad the waitress told us how to eat this right rather than laughing at us in the corner if we were left to fend for ourselves! We also got the first main dish on the top left of the menu - think it was something like petite lamb skewers. Was a little disappointed because I like heavy protein meals - you get 5 little skewers with baby-sized chunks of meat. It's good but wouldn't get it again for the meat ratio. The waitress was very nice. She was incredibly apologetic when we had ordered the rice pudding but she forgot to fire our dessert order to give ample time for it to be ready and then realized it wouldn't be. She ended up giving us an extra piece of baklava and comped us Turkish tea - especially after knowing my co-worker absolutely loves their rice pudding. Iskender and Adana kebap is a must try.as a desert Kunefe is the best but cant order it to go it must be eating fresh and hot. Place is very clean and staff is so nice. Oh and dont be suprised when the owner comes to your table, he does this each and every time to making sure everything is okay. You can tell him if something is bothering you or you dont like. My fiance and I came here for dinner on a Friday evening, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We visited on March 8th, and to my surprise, after the hostess seated us at the only table left available, she gave me a rose for International Women's Day. She proceeded to tell us how important they felt the day was, and wanted to celebrate it with their patrons despite the day being overlooked in the U.S. I felt that this was a very touching way to reach out to their guests, something that a lot of restaurants overlook. We started with the humus and mini-lahmacun. The hummus was nothing special (sadly), but the lahmacun was delicious and flavorful. We were a bit disappointed that they were out of Doner meat, so we couldn't try the doner kabap or Iskender kabap. I tried the chicken wings, which were alright. I wish they were a bit more seasoned and not as charred. My fiance settled on the Adana kabap, which was seasoned nicely, and was very good (I had total dinner envy). The food and check came out a bit slowly. It looked like they had a big party they were preparing for, so I'd hate to dock them for it, since everyone we interacted with was so friendly. The service really did make up for the timing issues. And I firmly believe that service makes up a lot of a dining experience. read more
