Nectarine Grove is my favorite gluten free haven in San Diego. Every single item is gluten free and many are vegan as well. Each time I come, I try something new. The cinnamon roll has a great structure and a generous amount of cinnamon. The icing is optional but I highly recommend it. I love being able to indulge in gluten free tests that are difficult to find elsewhere. The lines can sometimes be slow but it's definitely worth the wait. All the seating is outdoors but the umbrellas provide good shade.

Great little lunch spot located within flower hill in Del Mar. They have an excellent selection of sandwiches, salads and pretty unique paleo coffees. Nice little outdoor eating area, perfect for sunny days!

Food was great. Pesto turkey was delicious and warm. The salad dressing was an orange light dressing. The honey latte was creamy and flavorful. It wasn't overly sweet which was nice.

I was able to try the chicken salad toast and it was pretty good. I wasn't sure if the dressing was for the side salad or the toast but I felt the chicken salad toast would have had more of a tang if a lemon was squeezed over it. I ended up pouring the dressing over the salad so if it was meant for the toast that could have added the tang because it was a lemony dressing. The toast bread was flavorful, soft so it wasn't hard to bite into. I didn't order the food so not sure how service is but I've driven by it a few times and it's a cute little place tucked on the side of the plaza building on the right.

The Bakehouse Breakfast was BAD. Ordered scrambled eggs and they were like two chewy and tasteless patties - the explanation was as ridiculous as the eggs ("we are using small egg pan.."). The sweet potatoes looked like bird food (see picture) and the butter came as small (very) cold cubes that were hard to spread... Oh, have a mentioned the bacon? Yes, two skinny, soft (!!) and fat pieces of bacon. Maybe the drinks are good - because the breakfast food, is very low quality. Very disappointing

Croissants. Real. Croissants. If that wasn't enough of a review, I'll try again... CHOCOLATE croissants. Real, soft, layered, buttery, giant, warm, fresh, chocolate croissants. The kind that will spike your blood sugar and happy hormones over the edge. I've so far, over two visits, have also tried two of their quiches, their "hostess cupcake," and their cinnamon roll. Their pastry case is where life begins. Go, eat, get a little chubbier, and be blissfully ignorant of what gluten is. This is a 100% dedicated gluten free bakery and you'll not have to worry about cross-contamination here. Many of their items are also lactose free. They have an outdoor patio with seating that is ramp accessible.

Nectarine Grove's bakery in Del Mar has absolutely delicious gluten free pastries! Their croissants are unbelievably amazing, as are their cinnamon rolls. This location is a cute little cafe with great takeout vibes in a convenient location, I absolutely love popping in for a tasty gluten free treat!

Eggshell in my food. The scrambled eggs are not even scrambled eggs just patties. "Fresh berries" the blackberries are sour and the strawberries are mushy and old. I just don't get the hype. Don't come to this place because they promote it to be "healthy".

After brunch and shopping, my MeetUp Fun Diego Ladies and I stopped by for some afternoon tea and coffee. It was a bit warm out, so I ordered the white peach iced tea that came with 1 free refill. Not bad for $4. I enjoyed the mild tea flavor, unsweetened, just how I like it. The cute barista taking our order was very pleasant and helpful in answering our questions about the menu. We enjoyed the coffee and tea here. They have nice big tables outside, but what's missing is a restroom.

Theeee absolute best. Especially if you have a any allergies or sensitivities...you can always find something. It's. A gluten free facility as well which is awesome. Ordered a cappuccino. Temperature was great. Probably right around 140 f. But it was extremely milk heavy. Way more milk than a typical capp. In fact I could not taste any coffee. I requested they they add another shot of espresso. In all, I think it ended up at $4.00 for the Capp plus $3.50 for the shot of espresso it needed. With the extra shot, I could taste the coffee, which was quite yummy. read more

I really like the food options at Nectarine in Del Mar. I have breakfast or lunch here a few times per month. Thank you Nectarine for your gluten free restaurant. However, your service needs improvement. Beverages can take 15 minutes or more. Perhaps simple drinks like regular coffee and tea not be put in a queue behind all the fancy drinks you offer. Coffee and tea could be served by the cashier making your flow much better for customers. My last three visits there have been very slow food service. And we have had errors on our orders as well. I wish I could offer a better rating because I want you to thrive. Maybe next time. read more

Seriously the BEST GF sourdough bread around north county. They make it and bake it at their bakery in the Via De La Valle Flower Hill Mall. You have to try their cinnamon roll, GF too! Their chocolate croissant is with a try. All Gluten Free! read more

Ok so I'm giving this place three stars. However it's minus two stars for their availability. They make the best gluten free croissants I have ever tasted. Problem is they sell out fast. An hour after opening they are sold out. We have tried three times and they were gone. All within 70 minutes or less of them opening. You can't order them online and you can't call in your order for them to hold them. At least that's what we were told. We called today and asked if they had any and they told us yes, we arrived there about ten minutes later and they were sold out. In fact there were people in line and once we found out about them being sold out, two people left including myself. Come on Nectarine Grove, you have a great product, make it available! Are you guys fkn afraid of money? read more

My cappuccino was fine, but unfortunately I was unable to get it served in a ceramic coffee cup and saucer. Paper cups are a needless environmental waste and don't give quality coffee a good taste. Soap and hot water will sufficiently dissolve any bacteria or viruses, so please give your customers a choice to enjoy their coffee drinks in a proper cup. read more

Sandwich was inedible .Bread was hard as a rock. Tried eating it anyway ,even with a drink couldn't get it down. Never complain but already tipped for long wait and horrible food So told her "Sorry, this is so hard I can't eat it " Thought she'd offer alternative but said sorry too bad. Best quiche on the planet! Love how conscious they are here and the use of organic ingredients. My only wish is that they made less sugary bakery items, and used maple syrup or coconut sugar only (and less of it) in place of evaporated cane sugar. I just find the items way too sweet. Very impressed with the customer service as well! read more

Amazing gluten free cafe! We stayed in San Diego for 6 days and visited this cafe twice. Wish I would've known that it was all gluten free sooner so we could have tried more pastries, sandwiches, and drinks. Loved their scones, turkey sandwiches, breakfasts, and coffees. Service is great. They have great customer service and love the ambiance. read more

I love Nectarine Grove (Encinitas location). This location is nothing like the Encinitas location. If you've been to the Encinitas location you know to expect high quality food. At the Del Mar location everything is microwaved, including the eggs. The customer service is poor. My meal was cold as soon as it came out of the kitchen. Very overpriced meal for microwaved food. Just go to the Encinitas location. read more

Let me start off by saying I love Nectarine Grove & look forward to going when in the area. This review has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the food because that remains amazing, it has to do with the customer service at this location specifically. First, they made my drink wrong (cold instead of hot as the ticket stated) and I decided to take it anyways and told the gal it was okay! Then I waited 30 minutes for my Chilaquiles which I specified had a avocado allergy & the server put on the ticket and it came out with avocado so I unfortunately had to send back. Then after sending back I waited for them to remake it with no avocado for another 30+ minutes. The attentiveness to detail needs to be looked at especially when dealing with allergies. read more

Seriously the best place EVER! This is how restaurants should be - transparent about their ingredients. Providing paleo and keto options. This is the future!!! I could seriously eat here all day every day. This place is a literal godsend for people who have food intolerances or are trying to heal their gut. It makes me so freaking happy that they make paleo desserts, waffles, and bread. I was finally able to get my hands on a chocolate croissant!!!! (Yesterday they sold out in ONE hour). Now i know why. Wowwww!!!! They are soooo good! Out of this world. They taste just like the real deal 'pain au chocolate' from france!!! I havent been able to find anything that comes close...until today!!! And they are GF!!!! Thats even more unbelievable!!!! Nectarine Grove Cafe + Bakehouse is just what I was looking for. Being Gluten Free is a challenge sometime finding tasty things I can eat. Every food item I have tried is beyond delicious and the desserts are incredible. I have taken non gluten free eaters with me and they too LOVE everything and are now regulars. The entire front of the Cafe+Bakehouse is open and so inviting. The vibe is awesome with an abundance of beautiful outdoor seating !! This is a must to try, Gluten free or not this Cafe + Bakehouse is AMAZING!! read more

We went to this bakery and asked when certain items would be baked and available for purchase, the staff said they had no idea when they would be baking those advertised items. The Nectarine Grove bakery items we wanted to buy are posted on their website and on their in-store menu. As a result, we were not able to purchase anything (as intended) and the drive over was a waste of our time. read more

We recently found out the Chicken Fettuccine Al Pesto is the owners Italian mother's recipe. My youngest son enjoys getting this dish. My favorite breakfast dishes are the chicken and waffle, country fried steak and french toasts. They perfectly bread the chicken and the homemade country gravy it adds that extra goodness to the meal. I also love their fresh-pressed juices, and I usually request a plantation iced tea -- iced tea mixed with pineapple juice. So refreshing! The decor is adorable too. It has a cozy farmhouse café vibe that makes the whole place feel warm and inviting. And the bread pudding from Sunny Side is definitely worth mentioning. I usually don't like bread pudding, but this is far from ordinary. It's made with croissants and chocolate, drizzled with chocolate sauce, dusted with powdered sugar, served with raspberries, and strawberries. You have to add the ice cream...cause why not? Absolutely indulgent and perfect for sharing. Totally worth those extra calories! Overall, we'll definitely keep dining here. Pancakes are usually not something I get excited about - I tend to think most restaurants use the same premade mixes from the same suppliers, resulting in pancakes that are ultimately forgettable. That changed the moment I tried a bite of the pancakes my daughter ordered. I was genuinely surprised to discover what may be some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Since then, Claire's has become a breakfast tradition whenever we're in the area. Buttermilk Pancakes (OG) - 5/5. These pancakes completely changed my expectations of what a pancake can be. What makes Claire's buttermilk pancakes stand out is their depth of flavor. They have a rich, buttery character and a subtle fermented tang that give them a distinctive personality. Add a little extra butter and real maple syrup, and the flavor reaches another level. The texture is equally impressive. Unlike many restaurant pancakes that are either soggy or overly dense, these strike a near-perfect balance. They hold their shape well while remaining tender and fluffy, with just the right amount of air pockets. They're substantial without being heavy and soft without falling apart. The finishing touch is a thin ring of golden-brown crispy edges that adds both texture and extra flavor to every bite. Seasonal Lemon Ricotta Pancakes - 4.5/5. Our server recommended the seasonal lemon ricotta pancakes, and I'm glad I gave them a try. They are every bit as well-executed as the original buttermilk pancakes, with a bright citrus flavor and a richer, creamier profile from the ricotta. While I still prefer the original buttermilk version for its subtle fermented tang, these are excellent in their own right and well worth ordering if they're available. Eggs Benedict with Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey-Cured Bacon - 4.5/5. Once I find a favorite dish, I have a habit of ordering it repeatedly - which was becoming a problem thanks to those buttermilk pancakes. On a return visit, I made a point of trying something different and was glad I did. The standout pairing here is the crispy hash browns. This is one of those dishes where the individual components really shine when eaten together. Combining the arugula, poached egg, hollandaise sauce, and crispy hash browns creates a wonderfully balanced bite. The hash browns contribute crunch, the egg and hollandaise provide rich creaminess, and the arugula adds freshness and brightness that keeps everything from feeling too heavy. It's a thoughtfully composed dish that delivers both flavor and texture. Drinks - okay. The juices, teas, and coffee were perfectly fine - nothing remarkable, but nothing to complain about either. They do their job and complement the food well. Here are my final Thoughts. I'm so glad we discovered Claire's on Cedros. It has given me a new benchmark for what great pancakes should taste like. Even as someone who never considered pancakes a favorite breakfast item, I find myself thinking about them long after the meal is over. If we're back in Encinitas or Solana Beach, Claire's will be one of our first stops. The pancakes alone are worth the visit.

I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel.
