My longtime mechanic had retired, and I wasn't sure where to go next until I discovered D&G Auto Repair on Yelp! In August 2025, I brought my car in for brake service (pads and rotors replacement). From the very beginning, I felt I was in good hands. Paulo, the manager, responded to my Yelp inquiry almost immediately. He was professional, kind, and attentive. He listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything in a clear, respectful way, something I truly appreciate. I felt a strong sense of trust that he genuinely cared about my car and my safety. When I arrived at the shop, Paulo was just as professional and kind in person. He made me feel confident in my choice to use to D&G Auto Repair. After I left my car, he followed up via text with an estimated bill before starting any work, which gave me peace of mind and control over the process. The shop itself is small but clearly run by expert technicians, and the waiting room is clean and comfortable, a nice bonus! I returned yesterday with a question about a noise I'd heard. Tony, one of the technicians, came out and personally walked around my car with me. He pointed out how clean it looked and even asked about repairs I had done elsewhere. He gave me a mini lesson on body repair which was surprisingly enlightening. He then gave me directions to the nearest Auto Parts store and Car Wash. That kind of extra care is rare and so appreciated. To make a long story very short, it turned out when the car needed a new battery up at school (in VT, and the only shop in town was the Honda Dealership), they did not put the battery holder back on and the long bolt that holds the battery fell over and prevented the shifter to fully engage second gear. UGH!!! This is from the dealership, no less!! After purchasing a used 2025 BMW 540i, I noticed a persistent grinding noise from the brakes at low speeds. I took it to the dealership as it is under warranty. They confirmed the noise but told me that the pads were recently replaced and they can't help me. I called John and described the issue and John asked me to bring it the next day. Although he could not reproduce the noise during inspection, based on my description, he suspected the problem was due to second tier BMW brake pads and recommended replacing them with OEM pads and he gave me a very competitive price. I hesitated a bit given that the pads on it were only 2 months old but then decided to trust his judgment, and he was absolutely right. Once the OEM pads were installed, the brakes became completely silent. The difference was immediate and dramatically improved my driving experience. I specifically asked the technician to check all fluids level and make sure will be no oil spill on subframe when they draining old oil like it happened during previous visit. On the next day I run out of washer fluid driving on highway and later found oil spill on my driveway. Two days later I returned to this facility requesting to check root cause of oil spill and was told that it's "normal" leak, because some drain oil trapped inside the subframe. This just unbelievable to hear such response from technician. I will not use Valvoline services in the future

My car developed a sudden, and very loud, exhaust leak--one minute it was fine, the next it…read moresounded like a very large truck. I looked under the car and could see a piece of exhaust pipe hanging down. Luckily, I was near a muffler shop in Newton and they agreed to take a look. They told me my muffler had blown-out and that the rear pipe was badly damaged, and it would cost about $450 to repair it. They said they had the parts and would be finished in two to three hours. I decided to take it to another muffler shop I had taken cars to in the past. On the way, I stopped at a gas station, explained my problem, and asked if they could tie-up the exhaust pipe that was hanging down so I could get to the muffler shop without further damaging the system. The guy told me they just sold gas but there was a separate garage attached to the station and they might make a temporary fix for me. The guy in the garage, Jim, said he would see what he could do after he finished working on the car on the lift, which might take an hour. I decided to wait. After about 30 minutes, he put my car up on the lift to look at it. He came into the very small waiting room and said, "You're lucky. Your exhaust pipe isn't damaged, it just needs a new sleeve." When I asked what a sleeve was, he said, "I think I have one in stock; if I do I'll show it to you." He did. indeed, have one. It was a 6-inch tube with a clamp and bolt on either end. He explained that my sleeve had rusted out but that the two pipes it connected looked ok. He said, "I won't know until I take the old sleeve off and can see if the pipes are damaged but, in 90 percent of the cases, we just have to replace the sleeve. I asked what it would cost and he said, "I don't think it will be more than $100." Not quite believing that we wouldn't have some costly complications, I told him to go ahead. He finished the job in about 25 minutes and the car was perfect. I was amazed and very, very pleased. The final bill was under $80, another pleasant surprise. I will recommend Quinlan's, and Jim in particular, to any of my friends who need auto repairs. The only thing I'm unhappy about is that it took me so long to find him.

They quickly provided a detailed estimate and ran through a few alternatives that I could think about, but sadly my insurance company determined that the car was a total loss and gave me the option of a payout for the value of the car. After agreeing to the amount, my insurance company tried to reduce the settlement and pay me considerably less. The people at Haskins were not obligated to help me negotiate with my insurance company (they were being paid their full amount regardless), but they went over and above and fought for me. They convinced my insurance company that what they were doing was not right, and I was paid every dollar I was promised! I could not have had a better outcome. I would recommend Haskins and their people to anyone (especially local Wellesley/Weston neighbors) needing automotive help. We are lucky to have this shop in town!!
