I am of Indian origin & this is the closest Indian grocery store so I go there often. The store is well stocked with popular items although sometimes it's a while before they restock. For the most part I find what I need. The store owner/manager is friendly & talkative. His nephews who help in the store & the newer staff newer staff are really pleasant & respectful. A small parking lot is available at the back of the store but I always manage to find street parking in front. Make sure to feed the meters as the street spaces are religiously monitored. Overall a good place to shop if you're looking for Indian/ south asian products. read more

I really have nothing to compare this market to as I don't visit Indian places very often. I see some people have left negative reviews due to their service. I would say it felt normal compared to any other supermarket, not overly friendly but not rude either. They have a HUGE variety of products that fascinated me, some items seemed really expensive but again, I have nothing to compare it to. We went in looking for something cool to consume since it was such a hot day. The basil seed drink was on sale for a dollar, very refreshing and not too sweet, reminds me of chia seeds. Mango lassi of course is a classic and this Desi brand was quite tasty $1.99 I also tried the mint flavor which was definitely a unique taste -- it was salty -- kinda like drinking salad dressing. I thought I read the sign that said the drinks are $1.49 but I see on my receipt after I left it's $1.99 for both. Maybe this is the price gouging some other reviewers refer to? read more

Yes - they can seem like extremely kind people but when you have a very long history with them, they end up showing their true colors. I really enjoy my visits to this store as each visit I spot something new. The store itself is of a pretty good size with a large range of Indian foods and goods including cooking pot's, clothing, incense ect. The food selection is great and reasonably priced too - 10 pack of Naan breads or Chipati for $3.49 you can't really go wrong along with rows and rows of spices, already packaged sauce mixes relishes and sweets. They also sell the well known Pataks curry pastes for cheaper than the usual grocery stores too. Service is always friendly and helpful. Today we went in and enquired about recipe books but unfortunately they had sold out but directed us to a website instead and gave a free packet of spices with our purchase. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a few British foods too (If you haven't seen my previous reviews my husband and I recently moved here from England) Goods Include Digestive Biscuits, PJ Tips, Ribena and Jam (or Jelly) in some interesting flavours like Pineapple or Mango as well as the usual Strawberry again at very good prices. They also have a lot of off street parking behind the store so always able to find a spot easily. Overall a pleasant shopping experience - My husband finds it highly amusing watching me browse through the shelves and squealing when I see something I like. Avoid this store during the crisis Neelam has deliberately jacked up the prices of all the goods by 30-40% to profit from the crisis. My typical bill used to be $25 a visit, now it's over $40. It's shameful. :( read more

I came back here just recently to check out their store and grab all my Fijian groceries. Luckily for me, this place hasn't changed much! They didn't have the sought-after pumpkins, but they did have the Big Sister Fruit Cake from Australia that many have. The wrapping had changed a bit, but I was still happy to purchase them at $6 each. And while I was at it, I threw in some of those ice cream or kulfi add-ons: Parle G biscuits. They go well with ice cream and are a fun treat, if you like biscuits (not to be confused with crackers!). If you go, try to park in the back, as they have ample street parking that won't get you a ticket. It's fairly easy to enter through the back and it helps avoid the main street rush. If you go, I hope you enjoy it as an alternative Indian store with many British and Fijian goods. read more

I had been in search of fresh curry leaves. No where to be found - But this place had them. When I went there was a line to go in! I didn't really know what to expect, but they had SO MUCH variety. I have many Indian and Tongan friends who talk about this store. I have heard the owners are very rude. They sell expired items and use a current date stamp to make it look like the item is still salable. I've also heard when you buy groceries they charge you double or sometimes triple. Please pay attention to your receipts! I decided to go shopping here for the first time and I definitely experienced what everyone has been talking about. The owner of the shop is very gracious and patient. I adore the selection of ethnic foods here. I have never seen raisins larger than I've seen them here. Like the bulk spices, lentils, olives, and dried fruit. Fantastic place to pick up tomato puree in glass jars instead of cans at good prices. Called them just now to see if they have a particular item. Whoever picked up the phone immediately hung up without me or them saying anything. Figured something must've happened so called back again and whoever picked up the phone just answered and put the phone somewhere out of the way. I've been there before many times so I can recognize the gentleman who's usually behind the counter's voice. Just look at all the negative reviews and you'll know. Several bad experiences here and won't be coming back. Examples include- higher prices than other Indian grocery stores, extreme rudeness with my family AND others inside the store and dishonesty with prices. One time - we noticed that the the bill was already higher before starting to ring up our order. We called it out and realized it was a carryover from the previous order. No words here just pick somewhere else to go. Go to Anna Bazaar in Sunnyvale- super nice people, extremely clean, sanitizer as you enter and low prices. You won't find any of that here. read more

This was the only go to for the south San Francisco area! They have parking behind them, so it's convenient. They have a separate space for clothes and other exotic Indian items too! A good spot to buy an Indian gift around here! But you might have to search a bit! read more

Ok so I have been thinking of writing this review for over a year but waited hoping things would change. No doubt it's one of the most well-stocked Indian store closer to SF but is it worth the trek? Not really. I usually end up going there once every couple months but I think I'll wait till my next South Bay trip to shop at Apna Bazaar in Sunnyvale (I'll be writing a review for it). Plus - great variety and wide selection of Pan-Indian foods. Reasonably priced (compared to SF Indian stores). Negatives - rude, unpleasant lady owner of the store. Geez... she needs to get a lesson in customer service and know that we, the customers are giving her business and spending our very hard earned $$ at her store. Every time I go there it feels like she is doing us a favor by answering questions, helping with goods out of reach. And to top it all she is rude to the kids! Seriously, these people need customer service 101 lessons! As pointed out by others do look for expiration date on items (true for every Indian store!!). Overall I will go there if I can't make the trip to South Bay but not my first choice. read more

Looking at the current situation of Covid, I called them up before visiting the store to check if they have basic items like aata and rice. They were very responsive and gave me the correct information. They even suggested me the best time to come to avoid large crowd. I found what I needed and they had a good variety of goods. The place was a little stuffy so I am glad that they limit the amount of people in the store during Covid time. There is a good amount of indian and some indo-fijian items. I still prefer Patel Brothers but that's a far drive. The pricing isn't straight forward at all.
