This place is horrible I ordered the Porto Nuevo style lobster it was 30 dollars and it was so nasty I just ate it to not be rude to my date it was chewy and tasted old the waitress didn't bring me butter or a butter knife until I asked for it and she took her time getting it did not serve it with Tortillas even we had to wait on those as well bottem line I regret eating it the whole place smelled of old fish fishy as hell and I got sick that night could have died. I got all swelled up couldn't breath and had to miss a whole days work. And to top it off I went to get my money back showed them the pics and they were rude and didn't even give refund for just the lobster portion of the meal that's all I asked so if you want some nasty food that will put u on your death bed then go there other wise run ! I know I wrote a review about Negro Durazo over a year ago but I have no idea what happened to my post. I've been here a handful of times before and I've ordered several items from the menu. Lets see, I've had plain quesadillas, fish tacos, mulitas, carne asada tacos and adobada tacos back in my meat eating days. But the last few times I've gone, I wasn't impressed at all by their quesadilla platter with rice and beans. They literally threw in big spoon portions of sour cream, guacamole and it made the tortilla extremely soft and soggy. Disgustingly impossible to eat. The worst part of it all, they have a $1 fee to use your card. That's remarkably ridiculously expensive! And, I thought 50 cents was too much at other places. I think this is one of the gems that Lemon Grove has to offer. When I'm craving a good michelada I always come here. I've only ordered tacos or ceviche and so far everything has been good. The staff have always been really nice and the service is always fast. read more

I always just drive by this place, honestly I was headed to Karina's - was craving Mexican style seafood. Gave them a chance, they have a great reputation in TJ. The parking was packed so it must be good. So I went in and sat inside main dinning room although live music was very loud I didn't mind (eating alone, no talking, no problem) Now for the reason I'm giving them 2 stars, THE SERVICE! It was terrible. I had to get up and order my drink at the bar (after sitting at the table, ignored for 10min) I told both the bartender and the host that I needed a waiter, after 10 minutes (long time) a waiter took my order. The food finally arrived 20 minutes later, I don't think I would have minded it so much but I didn't see my waiter again until I signaled the bartender for another drink and the waiter brought it to me. Now, the food WAS delicious! (camarones a la diabla) But good food aside, I'm still one of those old fashioned people that believes that when you go and spend money to eat it's a package deal! Birria tacos are really good but beware if your going to be outside me and my wife have both experienced bee's in the area on two separate occasions. My advice is order your food and run to your car before you get attacked. Great tacos though go check them out! read more

El Negro Durazo! Great Mexican seafood, had a couple of tacos El Gobernador taco and El Durazo taco they were the bomb! They were up there with my other favorite taco place you guys know where I'm talking about. Great place to come and eat some mariscos, drink some beers with the hayna and watch soccer oh yeah and listen to some loud Mexican music. The salsa they give you with the free salsa and chips is freaking hot! I love it! Makes me want to drink more Coronas! You also get a free cup of consomé. read more

Aw man! I can't believe people are giving this place 5 stars! This was pretty much, no IS the worst "mariscos" place I've ever eaten at! Okay now when I review a spot, I base it on the whole experience. I ordered a tostada suprema, which is ceviche de camaron y pulpo, and sliced, cooked camaron on top, with avocado. My mom ordered a caldo de camaron. The tostada came in like 2 min. The chips and salsa came in 10 min. My moms caldo came in 20 min! It was ridiculous! With my tostada they forgot to add the avocado, so I asked for it, so they put two slithers on top. My mom was SO upset about her "caldo de camaron." The color of the caldo was yellow, not deep orange/red. She called it a caldo de apio, cause pretty much, that's all that was in it! Celery, carrots and about 5 shrimp! Oh, and then about 5 min after they brought the caldo(when she was pretty much done picking out the shrimp, and looking for bite-size pieces of celery and carrots), they bring her the tortillas! And I almost forgot about the jamica she ordered tasted so dirty and bitter, she gave it back and asked for a tea. read more

Good fresh seafood. Prices are alright: 13.00/12 oysters and for almost every plate well served. They do serve the seafood without the rice and beans as many other places do. I mean they do have them but if you order a seafood dish, you get a plate full of seafood Period. Their service is good, servers seem to be happy doing what they are doing and treat all equally (unlike Karina's where they cater to the male customers WAY better than to us females: tip related since males will appreciate the minis and the cleavage show with their service lol-true fact) Durazos likes to have return customers and they make sure you are satisfied and check up on you regularly. Have not been there when there's a music group but in Chula Vista all seafood places get the drive by musicians, so if you stay long enough you'll get to hear some group play a tune or two. Their Micheladas are good...but not as good as Karina's. Be sure to ask for their special house salsa, it's good. For seafood locally, I go nowhere else. Good micheladas good food. HORRIBLE service. I went with my girfriend for the canelo fight. We sat down and waited 15 min to take our drink orders. The waitress came once back to take our food orders and never came back. We had to pay with another waitress which didnt know what we ordered so had to write it down for her. When we walked out the door the original waitress came out and made a huge scene because she thought we left without paying. I looked at her like are you kidding me? This place is so bomb. Coming from LA, it's hard to find the authentic Mexican seafood that reminds me of home down here in SD, but this place is definitely authentic. First of all, I don't know why people have been saying service is bad. Our waiter (and the rest of the waitstaff from what we could see) was super attentive. Anytime we had any trash or finished plates, they were gone in a second. Like seriously I used a napkin to wipe my mouth, put it to the side, and they came over and grabbed it to throw it away within a minute. Just for the customer service I would come back again, but wait there's more. Our food and drinks came out fast and they were superb. I had ceviche de camaron and it tasted super fresh. I got a strawberry bulldog margarita thing that was sooo tasty, and they put chamoy candy on the outside of the glass which was another bonus. They also give free chips and salsa which is always a win. The only eh thing was the guac which was a little bland but not the worst I've had. This place was ok. They seem to get busy at times that the waiter kinda forget about us. I had to tell the waiter that I needed my drink refilled and then he took a while to bring back the refilled drink. I ordered a cocktail and it was ok except that the shrimp still had the veins on it and it got pretty bad to eat it with the veins just there. Then when we were ready to go we couldn't get the waiter because he was somewhere else and never checked to see if we were ok..the owner I believe is came and aked if we needed anything and he went to go tell the waiter. Went here for lunch and everything was horrible. The music was really loud like if you were in a club. The waiter didn't speak English and the food well lets say I wish I had seen what they cooked. I ordered fajitas which arrived without the tortillas and I had to wait 7 minutes for the flour tortillas. Needless to say the fajitas were no longer sizzling. After asking the waiter to turn down the homemade stereo system so we could have a casual conversation the volume mysteriously rose again to that of a night club. This place is a must when looking for some bomb fried fish tacos. They come with two corn tortillas good portioned fish fillet, cabbage, and ranch. So simple yet so good! The food here is really good. I've had the Philadelphia Shrimp, ceviche, coctel de camaron, and the fried shrimp. This is the only place my husband will eat fish tacos at. He doesn't eat fish at all, except here. The beer is obviously a good selection. They have a weekly special, a pitcher of BL or Pacifico for under $8! Good deal! I try to go when the Mexican Banda isn't playing, it's hard to hold a conversation over the loud singing. The service could be better. Maybe a little more attentiveness and friendliness. They kind of just take your order and drop off your food. I have had one really good server here, but I feel like they should all be like that. Anyway, go try them out! Ate here twice already. My favorite was aguachile it was great both times. I was disappointed with the ceviche, it wasn't fresh, and the molcajete. There costa azul dish was good. RUN FROM THIS PLACE AND RUN FAST!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, we went with a group of 9, half were Mexican the other half American, however we were ALL handed menus in complete Spanish, we needed everything translated. We just assumed that all the menus were like that but it turns out they had menus in English but they were not offered to us. Once we all had our menus, we asked for water for the group...5 minutes later, we had to ask again...5 MORE minutes later we had to ask again...still nothing!!!! We had to wave down the waiter to order some actual drinks and AGAIN asked for our water, no joke, still never got water!! I ordered what was called a "Mango Margarita" on the menu and what I got was Mango syrup and WINE in a Pina Colada glass!!!! It was disgusting!!! ....and by the way, still no water for the table!!! We had placed our order for appetizers. At this point, we didn't see our waiter again until the appetizers actually came out....we wanted to place our order for our entrees but before we knew it he had vanished again!!! We were so hungry by now we devoured our appetizers....still no sign of our waiter or water in sight!!! One of the appetizers were raw scallops and they were very fishy and partially frozen still...YUCK!!!!! A few of the people in our group had been here before and recognized another waitress that had just started her shift and asked if she could PLEASE take over our table and she did....at least from this point on the service was good but that's about all I can say was good for the entire experience!!!!! We actually finally got our water!! It was at least 45-50 minutes now and we were FINALLY able to order our dinners!! I ordered what was considered a POUND of lobster tail......and if I remember correctly was charged $29.95.....when I saw what was put in front of me I couldn't help but laugh!!! Each half of the lobster tail had 2 bites of lobster meat!!!!! It was the biggest joke!!!!! One of the girls in our group asked to speak to the Manager....he came out with attitude pouring out of every pore in his body!!!! He basically told her that all of the lobsters are pre-weighed and that it was a pound and if you don't like it that's just too bad!!!!!! Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!! As he walked away the girl in our group commented on what terrible service this was and he turned around and came charging back at the table yelling in her face, "If you have something to say to me, say it to my face!!!!!!!'" It was SO APPALLING I have never experienced anything like that in my life!!!! When we got the bill, the bill consisted of a receipt from a 10-key adding machine with simple the total on it, stapled to a stack of carbon copy hand written receipts with items such as "beer" written on each one and no prices!!! That's when we had to ask for a menu so that WE could figure out what the prices were....that's when we were handed menus in English!!!!!! I came last week with my parents, my boyfriend and my kids. We saw the reviews and chose to come and try it out. Biggest mistake ever! We were the first out of two other guests to get there. Let's just say it took them an hour to finally get our food. By then my kids were annoyed of being there and we were full of chips and salsa. I complained of the wait and I wanted to know why two separate people already got their food before us. No answer. When we did get our food it looked and tasted like crap! They gave us rotten rice! I asked our waiter when was the rice made. Uhhh well uhhh uhhhh was his answer. I said it tasted like it was rotten. I then said try it, taste the rice that was served to my kids and family. He said no. If there's nothing wrong with the rice and its fine why won't you taste it?! My dad spent $160 all they gave us was two cheesecakes to make up for it. What they should of done is not charge us because none of us ate the piece of shit food we were served.
