Neighborhood Café has a few locations around Los Angeles, but the one on 3rd Street near Beverly Hills (across from Warby Parker) is my favorite. The building is easy to spot with its clean white metal exterior, and most of the seating is outside under a stretched canopy. It's a great setup for enjoying the SoCal weather without getting too much direct sun. The area is also very walkable and trendy, so it's a nice place to meet friends and hang out. I ordered the strawberry matcha, and I like that they allow sweetness customization. I asked for half sweet and it was perfect--you can still taste the quality of the matcha even with the strawberry. Their pastries were also surprisingly good: very flaky, buttery, and not overly sweet. I went later in the afternoon and the pastry case was still pretty full despite a steady flow of customers, which was nice to see. Another big plus is that they have their own parking lot, so you don't have to deal with the confusing street parking rules in the area. Service was friendly and casual. One extra tip: they partner with Too Good To Go, where you can sometimes get a bag of 4-5 pastries for around $6.57 including tax, which is a pretty great deal. read more

I got the Day Drinker latte via mobile order. It's supposed to be have a bourbon vanilla syrup but when I tasted it it was clear there was nothing added. Even judging it as a plain latte it was pretty bad. It really needed flavor to cover up that it's not a quality espresso shot. read more

I'm giving this a two star because their customer service has been consistently disappointing. Both times I ordered, I felt more like an inconvenience than a customer. I work down the street, and several of my coworkers have shared similar experiences. That said, their matcha is very good, which makes this even more frustrating. read more

Aesthetic and vibey coffee shop in the Fairfax area! I visited the coffee shop for a mid day pick me up and my experience here was pretty good. I ordered the Banana Split Cream Top which was one of their Summer specials and it was good. The cold brew was sour, but it complemented well with the creamy and slightly sweet banana cream which wasn't too overpowering in flavor. There were also bits in the drink which I wasn't sure what they were and I was not a big fan of them, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I got the 9 oz which was $7. The portion was small for price, but it was still a decent amount that was enough o give me an energy boost. I especially loved the outdoor seating area which was shaded and vibey. The service was also good and quick. Overall, a good experience here. I was skeptical because I tried the matcha at a different location which wasn't good, but the coffee here is pretty good. Rarely leave reviews but....I love neighborhood. Was a regular at the la brea location and when I moved was so stoked I had 3rd street in walking distance. The drinks are great, but the consistent customer service experience feels kind of insane. I've never felt like such an inconvenience as a customer. I always say good morning and thank you when coming in, and never receive even an acknowledgment. I've stood inside at the small counter for several minutes multiple times waiting for the baristas to finish their conversations. It feels like everyone working here hates everything? I'm obsessed with a neighborhood coffee. As a coffee snob I take my cappuccinos very seriously, and all baristas at Neighborhood make it flawlessly. In a sea of coffee shops that are all brand and don't take their drinks very seriously, it's so refreshing to go someplace that takes their drinks seriously and doesn't prioritize flashy cups, signage, etc. I'm a neighborhood customer for life. Accidently came here to pick up an order instead of going to the La Brea location and I'm happy I did. It was a beautiful day today and the outdoor seating area is perfect to sit and chat or to catch some sun while reading a book. I would definitely come here after eating a meal in one of the nearby restaurants (This part of 3rd Street is perfect for walking, dining and shopping.) The bar area is small so there is not a lot of space for people to wait for their drinks. They do have a service window where you can exit from the bar to wait for your drink outdoors. The people who worked there were super-friendly and helpful as well as skilled at crafting the drinks. Now there are so many places to get good coffee but Neighborhood has some very unique lattes that makes me want to come back. It was hard to choose from the signature drinks. I was looking at the La Brea Latte (ginger and molasses), Como la Flor (Lavendar) and the Day Drinker. I ended up getting the Day Drinker after reading that the vanilla bourbon syrup was made with Maker's Mark. It was so decadent, delicious and refreshing ! One of the best vanilla lattes i have had. Neighborhood offers other grab and go drinks, pastries and food. Can't wait to come back to treat myself to another latte or matcha drink. Obsessed with this little coffee shop off 3rd. Serving realllly good coffee + pastries. Their autumn latte (their take on a PSL) is easily my favorite autumn / pumpkin flavored latte I've had. They use real pumpkin & it's so good iced with their oat milk on draft. I even do an extra shot sometimes and the pumpkin flavor still shines through. Their pastries vary but they always have a nice selection of savory ones like ham & cheese, spinach and cheese & even kimchi + spam croissants plus a variety of sweet pastries and donuts as well. If you're looking for a solid coffee shop off 3rd, Neighborhood is your spot. They also have a location down the street off La Brea. I just love that this is my local spot. read more

I cannot express enough how much I love Neighborhood. The Day Drinker is one of the best vanilla lattes in LA, hands down. The bourbon vanilla syrup which they make in house is perfectly flavorful without being overly sweet. They have a non-bourbon version if you prefer. I'm also a big fan of the 3rd Street which is their housemade orange cardamom syrup. Don't knock it until you try it - I wouldn't assume an orange + coffee combination would be as good as this is! Not only is the coffee incredible, but so are the pastries. They're from Sugarbloom bakery which supplies fresh pastries to several coffee shops in the area. My all-time favorite is the Sesame Pretzel Croissant. It tastes exactly as good as it sounds, and I didn't even realize it was vegan and whole wheat the first time I had it. Which is saying a lot for a buttery tasting croissant! All of this on top of a great location (WITH PARKING?!!) and nice outdoor seating. Plus friendly staff, and adorable handmade ceramic mugs. It doesn't get much better than this. OH, and they don't charge extra for oat milk!! There's a reason Neighborhood is my favorite coffee shop ever. read more

I was introduced to this place by my brother and his girlfriend and the drinks did not disappoint! I had a matcha and it's been the best one I've had in LA by far. I went the other day with my girl friends and we were not greeted well by the baristas. They seriously looked like they did not want to be there. The guy who took our order did not say a word to us. I work in customer service and I understand what it's like to deal with customers and people in general but it does not take much effort to create a welcoming and comfortable environment. read more

The pastries are out of this world!!! The pistachio raspberry danish is insanely delicious (me and my partner talk about the danish all the time ) and the pastry assortment always has really interesting flavor combos so it's a real treat to try out new options when the danish is sold out! 3. Neighborhood is my favorite local coffee shop!! I not only enjoy the coffee but the workers energy as well! I came into the shop today and felt so bad for this poor girl. Not sure if there was another worker or not, maybe on lunch? The shop was extremely busy and this poor girl was hustling. Despite how much she had on her plate all alone she had a great attitude the entire time. The shop seems fairly popular and I think in order to meet the demand there should be more workers.
