Having lived in Honolulu for ~4 years and visited Rio once, I'm a bit of an acai snob. But I also adjust my expectations accordingly based on where I currently live. Let's face it, I haven't yet found any acai bowls around here in the Inland Empire that would match what I ate for breakfast on a daily basis in Honolulu, and I don't think I ever will. But when a girl has her craving, she finds a way to fulfill it. I've now been to Nekter twice, trying a different acai bowl each time. I tried the Acai Tropical first, thinking it'd be tropical and would most closely match my acai bowls from Honolulu. The first taste was weird! It's because it's actually mixed with pineapple and the acai flavor got dominated by the pineapple :( Maybe some would find that refreshing - it's technically not BAD, but it was just disappointing for a girl looking to fulfill her Hawaiian acai bowl craving. I decided to give it a second chance though -- this time I ordered the Acai Banana Berry. It's a lot more basic, with the usual berries, bananas, and granolas, but it's a lot closer to the acai flavor I was looking for :) It could do with some honey, but may just be my personal taste. Price/quantity ratio is acceptable given the lack of alternatives around the area. I also tried the Popeye's acai smoothie because the store has the $2 off deal for same-day after-2pm purchase. I think it could definitely do without the whole spinach flavor but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for veggie flavored smoothie. So the 4 stars is based entirely on being able to find a decent acai bowl within acceptable driving distance of where I live, and one that I'd be willing to pay for once in awhile. But I don't have a strong opinion about the store front or the long wait that other yelpers have commented on. I likely might give some of the other bowls a try, but will likely stay off the weird smoothies that seem expensive without deals. read more

Finally I got to go to Nekter...heard such great things, and for good reason! I got a Chocolate smoothie, but I can't remember the name of it...Chocolate Dream? Idk. But it was really good. Obviously it's healthier so don't expect it to be sweet. Also, it's extremely reasonably priced. I've had a similar smoothie elsewhere and it was about $8.95...yeah, no thanks. I'll pay their prices any day! I went at 11 am on a Saturday and it was surprisingly not busy. The workers seemed really nice and were helpful with recommendations since it was my first time. I always come in whenever I'm craving a quick and healthy snack, and this place never disappoints. Ambience: --LOUD. They're always mixing drinks or making smoothies or creating acai bowls, so there's always a blender or juicer going at all times. They do greet you whenever you walk in and the cashiers are mostly always friendly. It definitely smells like fresh fruits and vegetables when you walk in. You can actually smell it from outside! Food: --Banana Berry Acai Bowl $6.95: it's the top thing on their menu of acai bowls and definitely one of their most popular things to order. I can't finish this on my own so I always share it with my boyfriend. There are strawberries, blueberries, bananas, granola, and honey that top off this bowl. The honey definitely does it for me. It makes the entire bowl a lot sweeter, but just the right amount of sweetness to keep you going. Sometimes, it's hard to get to the food at first because they overfill your bowl with goodness. They don't really do a good job of wiping the bowl before they give it to you though so you might have some of the base on the side of the bowl. Con: --I don't like that they're closed so early! I'm here all the time and I could confidently say that the service at this location improved. The line and wait is unbearable especially during lunch time but I'm glad I haven't seen that problem lately. Nekter is pretty simple - you order at the counter and wait for them to prepare your juice, smoothie or bowl. You could even customize with add ons like protein. Some of my go-tos: the Greenie, banana berry burst smoothie, popeyes acai (tastes like an almond/vanilla smoothie) and the banana berry bowl. I personally like the juices here the most because it's made the most consistently. I've had my days where they made my smoothie too watery or my acai bowl was still frozen. I've made it a point to come here if I can't decide what to eat for lunch because at least I know I made a solid (and healthy) decision. =P Overall, it's a reliable juicery/snack option in the area! read more

I'm a fan! They have juices, smoothies and other delicious concoctions that accommodates what your body needs! My usual is Slender green smoothie! In my opinion, they do a great job masking the spinach flavor and it has my favorite flavors of pineapple, mango and coconut! They state it is rich in fiber and packed with tropical flavors: spinach, kale, cucumber, pineapple, mango, chia seeds, and coconut water blended with ice. When I'm craving some fruits and if I am lacking some vitamins and minerals and such I can come here and it's refreshing and delicious! I haven't tried their açaí bowls, they look so good and definitely will have to try it the next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

This is fairly straight forward yet Ashlee did not properly address the issues. Nor did her staff or other manager in the first place when I was at the store. It comes off that your company does not care nor value it's customers. I honestly don't trust the Brea Location to do a good job, let alone get the order right. I pre-ordered a delicious, refreshing Açaí Banana Berry Bowl on my Nekter app, and my husband picked it up for me, along with ordering two of my favorite Almond Health Nut smoothies, using our reusable Nekter cups and paid using the Nekter Gift Card on his Nekter app. (I'll often order two or three items and spread them out over a course of a few days.) He normally has his credit card in his cellphone and credit card holder, but had it in his pocket, and it fell out of it. He drove home and didn't realize it was gone until we received a phone call from Sean at Nekter. Thanks to Sean for going out of his way to look at my receipt from my pre-order for my phone number and called to let me know that my husband dropped his AmEx card outside of the store. I come here often because the smoothies are pretty good. But this particular day i experienced very bad customer service. I walked in and wasn't even greeted. I stood by the mobile order sign because I ordered through the app. The smoothie wasn't even ready even though I ordered 15 minutes prior & they weren't even busy. and after the ginger haired guy finished helping the two girls who were infront of me, he looked at me and then went straight to the back. I'm assuming he went on his break or something. Didn't bother to ask me if I was picking up an order. Just looked at me and walked away. He even went above and beyond and refunded my purchase, which was a surprising and incredibly kind thing to do. I am grateful for the amazing customer service i received. In addition, I returned to Nekter this morning since I'm feeling pretty sick and I remember the toxin flush helping me last season. I highly recommend this juice to anyone feeling under the weather! I juice daily....no not steroids silly, like fresh organic fruits and vegetables! Since I can't always travel with my juicer, I was pleased to find this little juice bar right down the street from my home away from home.....but alas, my first experience with Nekter was really just okay. Here's what I liked about this place: The people working were nice, they have acai bowls in addition to smoothies/juices and the pricing is really reasonable ($4.75 for a 16 oz juice). It's also clean, cute inside and has lots of parking. Here's what I'm not crazy about: I'm sure it's probably related to the fact the juice is so cheap so they have to keep their costs low but they put the apple core through the juicer. Any person that is somewhat into juicing will tell you that it's a no-no to juice apple seeds as there is a tiny bit of cyanide in them and you especially don't want to be pulverizing those things....http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/apples.asp. I realize that you'd have to be drinking a ton of juiced apple seeds to actually experience a harmful effect, but for something that I'm buying to be healthy, it just feels wrong. I really wanted to love Nektar, in fact I was addicted to the açai bowls for a good month. I also tried the smoothies from time to time, but really those açai bowls were insanely delicious. My huge issue with Nektar is that their nutrition information is no where to be found. After much research about other açai bowls, I found that they are around 600 calories. Nekter a cute and fun place to get a smoothie filled with things you need to keep your body in tip top shape. I love it and I am glad I finally got a chance to try it out!! Located in Orange County in the city of Brea. It is pretty close to the Brea mall off Imperial High Way. Parking in front of this location might be tuff but really you can walk and get a small little exercise in. The line wasn't long and the wait for my drink was pretty quick. I have no complaints. I got the Greenie drink...Mmmm I'm not sure what it was called but I loved it. They also ask you first if you would like ice on the side or in the cup. I loved my large 32 oz drink and I finished it within the hour. Went shopping in the stores with this huge cup but I didn't mind it tasted refreshing and something I needed. Yes price is a bit I believe I paid 8 dollars...But you are probably getting your dose of veggies in the mix! Staying healthy is hard and many people aren't willing to go that extra step. Upping Nekter by one star for the following reasons: 1) They finally took a cue and started posting up their nutritional information on their menu! Yay for the reassurance that these acai bowls I was chowing down on regularly range anywhere from 400 to 500 calories...hmm, much better than I thought! 2) The toxin flush with ice. I guess I had been ordering the wrong thing because my friends Sharon and Rose (both of who come here on a regular basis) educated me and I've been hooked ever since! Plus, it's super low calorie and makes you feel like you're really cleansing out your system! 3) They finally got rid of their crazy credit card reward cards, which always had problems because the strip would demagnetize! It was super frustrating waiting in line all the time, while they attempted to reconcile this, so I'm glad they now just stamp the cards the good ol' fashioned way! 4) Service appears to have gotten friendlier and faster. Definitely a welcome change! 5) Their prices are still some of the most reasonable in town. Yes, I have jumped on the juicing craze bandwagon. I even got a juicer for Christmas, that is how serious my juicing has become. So with that, this is a review on their juices and store only, I haven't tried the acai bowls or smoothies. This location used to be a Juice it Up back in the day so for those of you noticing the similarities in layout between Nektar and Juice it Up/Jamba Juice, now you know why they look almost identical. It is located in the plaza on Kraemer and Imperial where the Walmart and Nordstrom Rack are just to name a few places. They sell bottles of their juice cleanse in the refrigerator at the front and they also sell little bags of chips and energy bars. On to the juices, personally I do not think their juices are pricey in comparison to other juice places such as Mothers or Whole Foods. They are expensive if you own a juicer and juice things yourself, so in comparison to that yes. They have a pretty good selection of juices with a self explanatory menu on what the benefits are of each different juice, see my pictures for juice menu. I like that they offer more sizes than Mothers which comes in two sizes 16 oz and 32 oz. I feel a cold coming on so I got The Cure, but I substituted the beets for cucumbers. It tasted good, was not chunky because the guy juicing it was straining it as he was juicing. So the reason for the 3 stars is that they did not stand out to me. I feel like the juice market is starting to become very saturated especially as it grows in popularity. Nektar was good, but they do not stand out. The products they offer are not superior to others and their customer service is not either. The girls were nice don't get me wrong but they seemed more in a hurry to leave, nothing against that though I came in 30 mins before closing, so I'm sure they were in a hurry to go. All in all, I don't know if I would be back, I feel like there are better options out there and Nektar seems forgettable to me. read more

So you hear about juice cleansing here, juice cleansing there. To a guy who doesn't get out of the house much, I had really no idea. But when it comes to food and drinks, I reserve an open mind. Since it was free for the duration we were here, we also got a Berry Banana Burst that contained berries, banana, raw vanilla bean cashew nut milk and a little agave nectar blended with ice. So if you like Jamba Juice but just want all the natural stuff, DO get this! The place does get loud with the blenders on. For those of you who has been in a boba shop, you know what I'm talking about. My name on the cup for the day was "Breeder" The 16 oz drinks are only $4.75 and are very competitive with many juice chains. I now do wish this place was closer but the closest is 15 miles away. Their freshly squeezed juices and cold pressed ones are not good. Smoothies are decent and acai bowls are delicious, hence I'm averaging it out to a 3 stars. Customer service is very friendly and they're super fast at making all your drinks. Prices are really reasonable compared to juice bars in LA. An acai bowl here is about 3 bucks cheaper than what I'm used to paying. Their acai blend is more icy than milky but I don't mind that since it tastes like yummy sorbet. I ordered quite a few things for breakfast: 3 juices, a bottled one, a smoothie, and 2 acai bowls, and I only waited 5 minutes before my order was ready on a busy Saturday morning. The banana berry acai bowl was really good and I told them not to put agave on it. The fruits and granola were sweet enough for me. My sister had it with agave and she loved it, even fed it to her baby. I really don't recommend their juices but if you want to try them then order the juices with ice, or else they're room temperature which is really gross. Their beet juice and carrot juice taste like sh*t even blended with fruit juice. I wonder if their produce were washed properly before they juiced it because it had that dirt-like taste in both my green juice blend and the beet juice blend. I also tried a bottled juice called "the skinny raspberry." It was a waste of $6. I'd say skip on all their juices and just go for their smoothies and acai bowls. read more

After trying the places surrounding it, I decided to see what the big fuss is about this place. As soon as I came in, I smelled an unusual aroma. It must be stemming from all the various juicing that goes on. It is cozy place, with not a lot of seating. I decided to order the Popeye's Acai smoothie. The initial taste of the Popeye's Acai was not pleasing as it tasted a bit bland; however, after drinking a quarter of it I started to enjoy the taste. This may be due to the smoothie not having any additional sugar added separately. The service here is nice and they do a good job in delivering a high quality product. Recommendation: toxin flush! I've tried their smoothies and acai bowls, and thought they were just basic.. Nothing too special to be honest. Their toxin flush juice, however, was so delicious!!! It's definitely a winner in my books, and will keep me coming back for more. Although Nektar is a little on the pricier side, I'd say it's worth it for freshness and health benefits. I've tried The Greenies juice as well, which is more nutrient dense than the toxin flush, but the latter tasted much, much better (I can't stand earthy, veggie-filled tasting juices). Second visit in less than a week for the Acai banana berry bowl and so am completely in love with it... not infatuated, this is really love!! I use to order berry bowl bowls from Jamba Juice and they were decent and a little cheaper than those sold at Nekter. However, after trying Nekter's bowls, I can never go back to Jamba. The divorce papers have been signed, sealed, and delivered. You're probably wondering how are the Nekter bowls so different?!?... and that's not a bad thing to wonder. First, the bowls are way bigger, almost double what I get at Jamba. In this case, bigger is better my friend. Unlike Jamba, there's no shortage of bananas. On the bowls at Jamba, they use 1 banana to fill 3 bowls. Here at Nekter, they use 1 banana per bowl!! Yeah, I know right! Pick up your jaw now... this is true!! The bowls here are also much sweeter, even without the agave nectar which I opted out of during my second visit. Less sugar and I'm still in love! The granola is sweet too which compliments the overall flavor. Did I mention the top of the bowl is loaded with strawberries and blueberries! It's unbelievable!
