You need to put on your blue swede shoes and mossey on down to this place for breakfast or lunch. Its nice little place with a good amount of Elvis memorabilia on the wall. But it's not about what's on the walls, it's what's on the plates and how you got it. The service, it's not bad. The menu is not big, food is outstanding. We has breakfast, my wife had oatmeal, eggs, an English muffin and some avocado. She said she really enjoyed everything she had, but the one thing that really stuck out was the oatmeal. It was really good! Now me I had a ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and a biscuit. There was no shortage of ham in the omelet. The hash browns were good although I wanted them cooked well done, extra crispy. The thing that was the the best was the biscuit. First it was hot, not dry, and it had incredible flavor. A great breakfast and reasonably priced, but I'd go back just for the the biscuit. read more

I chose this restaurant due to its high ratings. Unfortunately, I think they are based upon locals who feel very welcomed and comfortable here. No doubt the staff knew many of the customers. We however we're treated with less enthusiasm. Inside the diner was uncomfortable with fans blowing on high and music from the speakers inescapable. The food was, well pretty sorry. The half of sandwich was toasted to a crisp and barely any BLT inside. The soup was too salty to eat and the waitress just laughed and seem immune to the possibility of offering some solution. The Philly and fries and the chicken salad were both tasty. I left Nelson's feeling cheated, cheated of my meal and cheated of the service expected at a sit down restaurant and cheated of a comfortable place to dine and visit. read more

A local place in a strip mall a couple of blocks off the main drag but well worth the drive. There is a parking lot at the mall. Breakfast served all day with traditional southern offerings (shrimp and grits) and midwestern fare (sausage gravy and biscuits). Prompt friendly service great local vibe. We'll be back to try their lunches. Oh yeah, they make a mean mimosa. read more

South Florida has so many diners but Nelson's may have a slight edge. What I really appreciated were how many options (grits, hash browns, meats) came with a simple egg order. I am very picky about hash browns and Nelson's arrived golden brown and crispy. This diner can get crowded and they do have limited outdoor seating. Server staff are busy but pleasant. read more

Thank you Yelp for helping me to find a yummy breakfast place. We had just left our hotel on Fort Lauderdale beach and were heading home. This little gem was on our way The service is super friendly and the staff works great together. Coffee and waters are refilled regularly. Since the reviews mentioned the sausage gravy I had a taste of my boyfriend's and it was really good, perfectly seasoned. He ordered the country fried steak with hash browns and I ordered an omelette with ham, peppers, and onions with tomato slices. The prices are very reasonable and portions are large. I'll be sure to remember this place next time we are down in this area. read more

This is a great little friendly neighborhood diner. I normally go here for breakfast they have a great selection of breakfast eggs Benedict country fried steak country sausage waffles you name it.Today I stopped by at lunchtime and picked up a Cobb salad which is loaded with tomatoes cucumbers bacon turkey avocado boiled eggs , blue cheese, it's a nice big salad. Everything here is pretty good size portions they're open for breakfast lunch and dinner but you can get breakfast anytime of the day. The waitresses are really friendly and attentive. read more

We've been ordering from Nelson's for years--mostly to go. The quality of the food is always good. Other diners nearby offer a larger selection, but we usually prefer Nelson's, depending on what we want. I'm taking off a star because the process of calling in is unreliable. Most times that we call in for a delivery, they don't offer it "that day" and we have to go pick up our order. In addition, there is almost always a little something wrong with our order when we get it--something missing, something included that we didn't order, leaking foam clamshell containers--that type of thing. The food itself is delicious and made with care--they just need a little nudge in their takeout fulfillment game. read more

This place is small and quaint. They have fun Elvis memorabilia on the walls. The service is probably the best part. Our server is from North Carolina and she was just so friendly, helpful and patient cause our toddler was quite messy. The food portions are large and the taste is nostalgic. This diner is small but quaint. With lots of Elvis memorabilia all over the walls. Nelson's as a diner can become crowded and there is good reason the diner food is quite good. This is place that has a lot of regulars. Staff are friendly and service is quick. There is some outside dining that is easy to miss because it is on the side. read more

I saw all the amazing reviews, so I told my dad lets go!!!! The reviews are awesome! The three stars are for the amazing staff! Greeted with love and smiles. They made you want to smile with them. I was having a bad day when I visited with my dad. There energy was so positive... it made me feel happy! But the food... We got breakfast. I don't know how the lunch food tastes, but breakfast was just ok. The pancake was delicious, I can say that. My dad got a sausage, onion, and peppers omelette! We both got hash browns. It was average. Nothing special or super flavorful. The hashbrowns were mushy. I like mine more crispy. The biscuits and gravy were ok. My dad found egg shells in his omelette, which is shown in the picture. So I love the people there and the atmosphere but... the food was just eh :( well the breakfast food. Maybe lunch food is better. read more

When Nelson owned the place, it excelled for years. His sale began an immediate & apparently hopeless run to the bottom. I believe 2 recent owners continue the destruction. I live 4 blocks away & eat out several times weekly. Nelson's would be convenient. In the past several months I have visited 4 times & they get high marks - for being even worse each time. No urgency, nothing special about the food, no friendliness, wait for the check. This morning I walked in. All but 3 tables were occupied & those 3 looked like a hell storm had hit & were not bussed. I sat at one & waited 5 full minutes by my cell phone clock. Not.a single employee or what might have been the owner/manager approached. I looked around & saw one waitress gabbing with another while waiting for kitchen orders. AsI walked out I passed a group of 4 waiting by the door. The man rolled his eyes at me & I nodded. This establishment has had several opportunities to impress me; they will never get another. what a waste,n what a shame. read more

First time here at Nelson's Diner for a quick bite after a busy day with my hubby. A cute small "diner" with a 50's Elvis decor, set at the end of a small strip w Calypsos at the other end. We were met by friendly server, Kelly, and she was very helpful and suggested I try a cup of cheese beer soup, ok, I'll try anything once! It was a delicious thick cheesy soup with a hint of beer, yummy! I ordered a BLT, very good and Les had a burger patty melt, done perfectly and we shared half sandwiches! We learned Nelson's was purchased by Galluppies, one of my fav places! Sorry, I didn't take any photos. I definitely recommend and will try for breakfast on the weekend! read more

Quick review: Unfortunately today we spent Father's Day visiting my Dad at the cemetery. We were in need of brunch type food but didn't want to battle the Father's Day crowd and the everyone is off for Juneteenth crowd. Ended up at Nelson's Diner on Cypress road in Pompano. It's located in the same strip mall as Calypso. The restaurant is open 7 days a week till 9, I assume they draw a crowd from the bar next door as well. Nevertheless the restaurant was immaculate from top to bottom decorated with Elvis memorabilia. As for the food everyone but me ordered breakfast and everyone enjoyed what they had. I ordered hot open roast beef served with mashed potato's and green beans. Roast beef probably wasn't house made but I can't place it as boarshead either. Service was great but there was only 2 other tables as it was later in the day and past lunchtime. Note they charge a 3.1% credit card surcharge which is posted on the wall and on the check. So bring cash if that matters to you. Something that impressed me even though I don't use it is glass bottles of Heinz. read more

Okay. I don't normally do bad reviews. But, I'll make an exception. Not really sure why this place has such rave reviews, must be the die hards who have been coming here for years. Overall: The place is overpriced for what it is. I could go to a hundred places and eat better. Food: Most of the food is pre-prepped/frozen food you buy in the grocery store. Most of it is bland/tasteless. We added salt, pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup, and still it lacked flavor. The gravy was not cooked right either. Service: asked for cheese. Never got it. Asked for jelly. Never got it. Asked for cream and was told "that's all we have." Never got refills. People who arrived after us got seated before us. Took forever to get the check. Just lacked service all around. We will not be back. read more

Place was not huge, but big enough for a local's crowd. Food was fantastic, only had the chef salad and the Ozzie salad but both were presented beautifully. The veggies were fresh, just the right amount of each - egg, cheese, meat, etc. Valerie the hostess, originally from NJ, was spectacular. Hardly any wait for the food, she was attentive to us throughout the meal. Prices were good. Overall wonderful experience, highly recommend. read more

I just got a Sailor Ruben to go... fast I got in less than 5 minutes but when I opened the to go box I got the real surprise ... We've been eating at Nelson's for a few years. It's always been a great experience up until recently. They've had a lot of staff turnover and the service and food quality have declined. Since they were such a staple, we gave them three extra tries after the first pretty bad experience. The last (and final,) visit, our food took forever. When it arrived, some of it came cold. When we asked for warm food, the chef had a hissy fit and threw stuff all over the kitchen. The food just isn't what it was. Compared to previous, the food is greasier, less seasoned, fattier, soggier, etc. We will go back in a few months to see if the feedback we've given (in person,) has been heard. We just hate to lose good go-tos, especially on the weekends. read more

The waffle was delicious, chicken sausages and bacon were tasty, and the eggs were perfectly cooked over medium. My companion told me she enjoyed her Power omlete and home fries. Everything was fantastic except my food temperature. I didn't send it back because the place was packed. I'll be back for sure and I recommend you give it a try as well!

They tell you to wait to be seated, yet there is no one assigned to seat guests. The waiters can clearly see there is a line, but no one takes the initiative to step up and seat anyone. Management seems very unorganized. They should assign one person specifically to seat guests, and when there is no wait, that person could float and assist elsewhere. After waiting, I finally asked a waiter if I could seat myself. I sat down and waited almost 10 minutes, and no one even came to offer water. At that point, I decided to get up and take my business elsewhere. The service today was horrible, and it seems that as they get busier, the service gets even worse. I do not recommend this place at all.

It is an ocean-view king room. This means the room is on the side of the building but still had a great view of the ocean. You enter valet on the northern side of the building. The valet Matt was quick, friendly and helped with my luggage. Valet is $44 a day. There was a short line at the front desk but there were two employees working and it went quick. The $45 resort fee covers chairs and umbrellas on the beach and two complementary drinks. You can pick from a small list of drinks including beer, g&t and wine. They also offer a morning exercise routine. Monday was yoga by the pool. The room was large with a nice modern design, a small couch and side table and a nice balcony with two chairs and a table. There was a coffee maker and fridge but no microwave. We ordered room service and had breakfast out on the balcony one morning. There were games setup in one of the meeting rooms right outside the pool and free popcorn was offered daily. The pool was large with plenty of chairs but people did save seats early in the morning. I went down at 9am and there were about five seats not claimed and only around eight people at the pool. Everyone else started showing up to their saved chairs around 10am. The pool did get less crowded with fewer children as the day went on. By 3pm there were more open chairs available. The beach is right outside the gate. Along with the chairs and umbrellas there is a sand pit with toys for the kids, a tiki bar and volleyball net. The hotel is very clean with modern decor. It is in a very residential area so there aren't any shops or restaurants around to walk too. Everything is about a mile south near the pier. It was the perfect place for rest and relaxation which is exactly what I was looking for.

Housekeeping staff are super kind, and anything we needed arrived quickly! The negative: Don't waste your money! We paid $400+ per night (amenities included, valet separate) and found out the hotel sells $45/day passes to non-guests. We had an issue with our room, and the hotel could not move us because it was full. We were told we'd get 2 chairs, access to the private beach, and 2 welcome drinks. No chairs, all 4 days we were there (party of 8). The welcome drinks were gin, non-ach or wine... Service was extremely slow, the pool was overcrowded, and the staff was so cranky/rude that everyone seemed to dislike their job. For a hotel marketed as a remodeled, luxury spa retreat, this was disappointing and not what we paid for. The icing on the cake was waiting 30m+ to valet our car due to the influx of people coming and going, oh, and having to bring our own luggage up and down due to no carts. Spoke with Ricardo about our entire stay, and he just stared at my husband, then proceeded to say, "Well, when you go to Disney on a holiday weekend, it's going to be busy." Sir... when I go to Disney, I know it's going to be crowded because it's DISNEY. You're a Marriott selling $400+ rooms a night and over-crowding your hotel, causing your guests to not enjoy the amenities you're claiming to provide, then when we say we are unhappy, you don't even bother trying to work with us; you looked annoyed. I wish we read the comments before staying because it seems to be a recurring theme.
