We came for lunch on a rainy afternoon. There's a parking lot to the west of the building. There was only one other table occupied inside when we came; however, there were a number of folks waiting for their takeout orders. We grabbed a menu and chose a seat to look it over. We were warmly greeted. We ordered and received our drinks right away. My husband got their shrimp grits bowl (from the breakfast side of the menu). You can actually order breakfast all day. He got the shrimp grilled, but you can also choose them fried. He said they were medium sized and perfectly cooked. He said the grits were very good. He likes them on the soft side. He was very happy with his meal choice. I got their snapper fish sandwich. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and tartar sauce on the bun. I got everything added except for the onion. There were 3 large fried lightly breaded filets of white fish. I had two pieces within the bun and one separately. It was very good. I could have chosen the fish grilled if I'd preferred. They also have half a dozen lunch specials that include a side and a drink. They have wings, burgers, steaks, and pork chops but with "seafood" in their name, we figured we'd try that first. We are so glad that we came to try them. It's nice to support a local business -- especially in this newly gentrified section of town. And even better, when the food is done well and the meal is enjoyable.

I am usually not the person that listens to influencers. However, we frequent the Pompano Beach area and I wanted some different spots to dine. So I listened to this one who had rave reviews about this place. I wanted to like it. I didn't though. At the entrance there were people sitting by the door so we thought there was a wait. They may have been waiting on food to go. Them leaving us standing there made us wonder. When finally greeted we were given menus. We asked if we order at the counter or table. She said it didn't matter. So we took a seat. The menu seemed pretty standard. Breakfast on one side lunch on the other. We said we wanted lunch and there seemed to be a problem. They we out of most of the sides. I ended up with fries and a side salad with what they called catfish. But I know it was swai. Catfish curls and has a different texture. I absolutely know the difference. My husband felt really frustrated having to ask for everything thing more than once from the younger employees and having the older lady come apologize only to do the same. The fries were hot and crisp and the shrimp my husband had were good. It was just not the best experience. They were always sitting line you were not waiting on them to bring you something. My husband asked for a refill on his sweet tea. The cup was taken. No one brought it back.

Visited after featured on Check Please! Delicious fresh fried catfish breakfast, scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuit. Prepared as ordered. Good portions and decent prices. Friendly, attentive server. Inside seating at booths or tables and outside tables on patio under covered awning. Large flat screen tv in dining area. Plenty of free parking in lot adjacent (west) to the small plaza. Definitely will be back!

Shrimp and grits - get them with cheese, peppers, onions, and fried egg.

We also got the trout dip with pita bread but I didn't get a picture of that because we were all starving and then dessert was key lime pie and pistachio gelato. I did not expect the tacos to be so big. I also got this place mixed up with another place called the beach house so I was looking at the completely wrong menu! I took a pic for anyone looking and didn't feel like clicking 4x to get to it on their website. Back to the tacos -- the slaw was very juicy so don't forget to place your napkin! The mango salsa was not too sweet to overpower the rest of the taco and the beans and rice -- we were told was cooked in beef broth so it was very flavorful! It was way too much food to eat in one sitting (although I somehow managed to down 7/8 of that gelato it's a stomach mystery! They tell you to wait to be seated, yet there is no one assigned to seat guests. The waiters can clearly see there is a line, but no one takes the initiative to step up and seat anyone. Management seems very unorganized. They should assign one person specifically to seat guests, and when there is no wait, that person could float and assist elsewhere. After waiting, I finally asked a waiter if I could seat myself. I sat down and waited almost 10 minutes, and no one even came to offer water. It is an ocean-view king room. This means the room is on the side of the building but still had a great view of the ocean. You enter valet on the northern side of the building. The valet Matt was quick, friendly and helped with my luggage. Valet is $44 a day. There was a short line at the front desk but there were two employees working and it went quick. The $45 resort fee covers chairs and umbrellas on the beach and two complementary drinks. You can pick from a small list of drinks including beer, g&t and wine. They also offer a morning exercise routine. Monday was yoga by the pool. The room was large with a nice modern design, a small couch and side table and a nice balcony with two chairs and a table. There was a coffee maker and fridge but no microwave. We ordered room service and had breakfast out on the balcony one morning. There were games setup in one of the meeting rooms right outside the pool and free popcorn was offered daily. The pool was large with plenty of chairs but people did save seats early in the morning. I went down at 9am and there were about five seats not claimed and only around eight people at the pool. Everyone else started showing up to their saved chairs around 10am. The pool did get less crowded with fewer children as the day went on. By 3pm there were more open chairs available. The beach is right outside the gate. Along with the chairs and umbrellas there is a sand pit with toys for the kids, a tiki bar and volleyball net. The hotel is very clean with modern decor. It is in a very residential area so there aren't any shops or restaurants around to walk too. Everything is about a mile south near the pier. It was the perfect place for rest and relaxation which is exactly what I was looking for.

Housekeeping staff are super kind, and anything we needed arrived quickly! The negative: Don't waste your money! We paid $400+ per night (amenities included, valet separate) and found out the hotel sells $45/day passes to non-guests. We had an issue with our room, and the hotel could not move us because it was full. We were told we'd get 2 chairs, access to the private beach, and 2 welcome drinks. No chairs, all 4 days we were there (party of 8). The welcome drinks were gin, non-ach or wine... Service was extremely slow, the pool was overcrowded, and the staff was so cranky/rude that everyone seemed to dislike their job. For a hotel marketed as a remodeled, luxury spa retreat, this was disappointing and not what we paid for. The icing on the cake was waiting 30m+ to valet our car due to the influx of people coming and going, oh, and having to bring our own luggage up and down due to no carts. Spoke with Ricardo about our entire stay, and he just stared at my husband, then proceeded to say, "Well, when you go to Disney on a holiday weekend, it's going to be busy." Sir... when I go to Disney, I know it's going to be crowded because it's DISNEY. You're a Marriott selling $400+ rooms a night and over-crowding your hotel, causing your guests to not enjoy the amenities you're claiming to provide, then when we say we are unhappy, you don't even bother trying to work with us; you looked annoyed. I wish we read the comments before staying because it seems to be a recurring theme.

A few small tables set against the wall and a few larger tables on the outside sidewalk. Doesn't look like much thought was placed on the design here. Service: Didn't wait at all for one of those small inside tables. My server was efficient and served my tea latte exactly as requested. Little things can often make the difference between a successful dining experience and not and here were a few of the small things that were provided that make a difference. I ordered the pancakes and my server suggested a side of scrambled eggs. The food: I received two pancakes which were well done, light and fluffy and the perfect size. I also received plenty of butter (so many places don't give you enough butter) an ample amount of steamed milk for my tea (another area that always seems to be pretty hard to get right). One thing that always drives me crazy was the fact that my scrambled eggs were served in the same dish as my pancakes. I hate this as the syrup inevitably gets to the eggs. Fortunately, I had a second small dish under my tea (which is also a great thing to get, to place my tea bag). I used this dish for my eggs. Another nice convenience was the mug for my tea which had a handle that I could actually put my fingers through (another area that restaurants fail to provide). In addition, I also ordered a side of sausage which came in patties form and was pretty tasty. The Bottom Line: As always my "customer so what" would I come back? The answer, probably. Although the ambiance was substandard, the food was good the service was as well so, it more than likely would be worth another visit on my next stop in town.
