After more than 20 years of faithful service, our built-in Monogram microwave oven reached its end of life, so I went to Nelthorpe on a Saturday morning, to get some help replacing it. I brought photos and model information, so that we could do a replacement without major kitchen cabinet modifications. Our salesman was Greg .. and he definitely did not try to hard sell us the more upscale Monogram units, although I did decide that this would be a good choice for us. We then scheduled a visit by their in-house installer, Shane. Shane did detailed measurements, and was able to confirm what would work for our kitchen. We placed our order, and his labor rate for the needed modifications was very fair. When the microwave reached the store, we set up our installation appointment, and the entire experience was perfect. Shane did a great job making the needed cuts, resulting in a perfect fit. The new unit looks great in our kitchen, and like our other monogram appliances, it is a great product. read more

My experience was not as wonderful as many have stated. I am hoping it was just a one time thing. I am not going to go into story time with details, but my first impression of my sales guy was very less than. Received my so called new dryer, but it arrived broken, a few days later they did come out and fix it. Not 3 weeks later the dryer stopped heating and started to make a screaming sound. I contacted Nelthrope and they stated I have to go through warranty which can take 2-3 days. I was out of a dryer for 3-4 days already and it was during the rainy days, so hang drying was not an option. I received a call from the warranty service repair business, and the earliest they could get me an appointment was in 2 weeks! I called Nelthrope and they told that they can't do anything about the scheduling time. I requested to return the dryer, and was told I needed to contact the manufacturing brand of the dryer if I wanted to return the dryer. All I wanted was either a replacement dryer or come get the broken dryer and refund me back. Simple. I don't have time to be out of a dryer for 2 weeks and I am elder, so going someplace to dry my clothes is not an option. It was a yelling fight on the phone and finally the person agreed to come get the dryer the next day and give a full refund. I did get a couple of calls the very next day and the person was very apologetic for the service and the phone conversation prior. My problem here is this, I truly felt like I was completely taken advantage of and lied to regarding the "new dryer". Things were said during the sale that did not add up after the sale, then to have the dryer stop working less than a month was a big red flag. The original sales person whom I called in the beginning was triggered by my usage of descriptive words I used for the dryer, to the point he was yelling at me over the phone and was down right nasty. My exact words were: "supposedly new dryer." Yup, he completely lost his mind. Yes, they did make it right, but not until I had to yell and explain my point of view and dissatisfaction. It was like they sold me a bad dryer and now it was my problem to deal with it and they just wanted to wiped their hands of it. Hopefully your experience will be better than mine. read more

This place is great. We got there on a Saturday morning shortly after they opened, and someone greeted us right away. He was super helpful and showed us the washers they had and answered all of our questions about features and warranties. He even printed out an info sheet for us on the washer we were interested in so we could take it home and think about it. I don't know if they were having a sale, but the prices were really good! We ended up buying our washer from the LG website. I really wanted to buy a washer from this spot but they don't sell LG washers, and we really wanted an LG. So, when it's time to replace my stove to an induction, I'm definitely going here. read more

Nelthorpe was great, from knowledgeable salespeople who will answer your questions and give you expert advice to the installation crew who helped modify my cabinets to make my oven fit. We just purchased and installed a GE Profile Smart Double Oven. Previously, we had a Decor that lost the ability to perform time cooking. Then the doors were very difficult to move, and finally, a temperature problem that may have been related to the doors. Now, we can turn our oven on and off from anywhere in the world by smartphone. I've been wanting this for years because we can start the oven and preheat it while we get up in the morning or cook while we are away. read more

As an update: I went to Nelthorpe after a brown out fried my fridge not only was I able to find a great fridge ASAP, but the guys delivered and installed (and my house I know is very difficult to do. They were very professional and more than willing to take on my special circumstances. I just reordered my filters through them and to say it was easy would be an understatement. I would never have guessed that getting a new kitchen range would make cooking easier and better. After 40 years, the oven on my old range quit. It was so old it could not be repaired. I found out when looking for a new range that the old range was of a kind no longer made. It required some carpentry and electric work before a new range could be installed. I went to a chain appliance store, bought a range only to find out they were unable to install it or recommend anyon who could. Having had Nelthorpe's recommended to me by several people, I went there, and my problem was solved. They gave me the name of someone who could do the preinstallation work, sold me a new range at a competitive price and generally made this very easy for me. I am so happy with my new purchase. Excellent Customer Service and product selection. We purchased a Bosch built in dishwasher and installation service. On our first visit trying to find a major home appliance dealer near Grass Valley, we were greeted when entering the store by Debbie and Liston who carefully listened to our product features and desire to own another Bosch Dishwasher. We were quite impressed with the in-store large inventory of major brand dishwashers, refrigeration products, cooking and ventilation hoods and laundry home appliances. We value the local appliance store experience rather than buying from a large box or chain store. What we quickly learned is that Nelthorpe and Son Appliance has been in business for a very long time in Loomis. We selected our new Bosch stainless steel dishwasher and scheduled delivery and installation on a date convenient for us. Nelthorpe & Son Appliance sub-contracted our installation service with a trained and properly equipped "experienced" home appliance installer who removed our old dishwasher and hauled it away. Our new dishwasher was leveled, flush fitted into our kitchen cabinet and completely water tested before the installer left our house. Our kitchen and hardwood floor was left clean and dry. Excellent installation service. Don't delay your visit to their showroom. Prices are competitive and Customer Service is delivered with a smile backed by delivered results on all commitments. read more

Bought and paid for a cooktop with a down draft back in August. Originally it was supposed to have arrived 2 weeks later. Got a call letting us know that there was a delay and it would arrive on the 6th of September, 2019 That's come and gone. Gave them a call this morning (9/9/19) and so now it's not till the 18th that Listin ( the sales guy) will know more on the status of the cooktop. He says that there are others that are also waiting for their cooktops and have been waiting for a month too So I guess even the 18th isnt really for sure. Luckily two of my burners on the current cooktop still work but what happens when tha quits out on me too? This is ONE HELL OF A FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER THATS LETTING YOU ALL KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WITH THIS COMPANY. I had narrowed down my selections and he gave me great insight on what I had chosen plus gave me other things to think about in my kitchen design. If they don't have want you want on their floor room, be sure to ask if they can order what you want. Cru ordered the brands I wanted with the best prices; a cooktop, oven, micro, wine fridge and diswhasher. They also have kitchen faucets which will be my next purchase. Having an appliance go on the fritz is right up there with a plumbing problem! It's never at a good time and you want it fized properly and quickly and not cost the price of a new appliance. We had a 1.5 yr old Maytag front loading washer have major issues late one day. I called the next and was able to get someone out....with a little begging I must say....the same day. A very nice gentleman came within the time frame stated and was able to fix our washer, determining the probable source quite quickly. Yes, it's pricey for the service.....but less than others most likely and he charged me the minimum fee. My only negative was the initial call taker being quite vague about the fees that would be charged if indeed the probelm took more than the minimum 30 minute time frame to fx. A business should not hesitate in stating what they charge up front. I would call them again, I like using someone local. read more

My dishwasher broke and I called Nelthorpe. They first referred me to a service person who then determined that I would need a new dishwasher. I went down to Nelthorpe and Son and within 30 minutes they helped me pick out a dishwasher but the color was not in stock. I had company coming from out of town and needed something immediately knowing that a holiday weekend was approaching. They quickly accommodated my needs, ordered the dishwasher and were able to squeeze me in within 2 days. The guys were here bright and early. They were knowledgeable and friendly and the entire install took less than 20 minutes. It felt good to support a local small business. I doubt Home Depot or Lowe's could've helped me out as quickly as they did on 4th of July weekend. Highly recommend. read more

Do not go through this company to order any of your appliances, trust me!!! Liston started out being helpful and accommodating, then he completely botched my appliance order for my kitchen! I came to him to order Jen Air appliances. We had a long discussion of exactly what I wanted, I gave him a list, I'm not the professional that is in the appliance business, HE IS!!! I had no idea that the appliance numbers that I gave him were for the incorrect appliances that I wanted! We went over them verbally, I explain to him exactly what I wanted and then when they were delivered and installed, they were completely wrong!!! I have called and emailed and his best responses is, "I ordered the appliances that I thought you wanted, there's nothing we can do about it now" WOW, REALLY??? Nothing you can do about it now??? After I've spent thousands of dollars with your company and that's your best solution to a huge dissatisfied customer!? No other solution? So now I've spent all this money on kitchen appliances that I had no intentions of ordering and are not what I ever wanted or what I would've ever ordered! Now I'm Totally out thousands of dollars and totally screwed over!!! My only option now is to let everybody know how they handle their business and hire a lawyer!!! I just called these people for a part for a washing machine that they sold to the previous homeowner. I have pretty good technical knowledge of a general nature but the woman on the phone when I called couldn't understand basic technical language like the word "housing." I asked to someone with more understanding of standard technical terms and she said that I had to pay $69.00 for a home visit by a technician. When I asked if they ever had a technician or knowledgeable parts person available in their store, she said that there were technicians in the store from 08:00-08:05 each morning. I hung up to avoid any further waste of our time. read more

Although the technician that performed our work arrived over an hour late (those things happen due to the nature of the business) he diagnosed and repaired our refrigerator quickly and it is up and running. He also looked at our washer and thought he discovered the problem, but was unable to fix it because the part needed was not in stock. As it was a much higher repair than our fridge, we decided to wait on the repair only because the washer was working. Our rating of two stars has to due with the customer service we received upon calling the store to discuss a bill we received. We had already paid the technician in full for the fees and repairs due the day of the visit, but we received another bill for another fee. We weren't clear as to why we were being billed so we called to discuss the matter. The woman on the phone asked why we were calling and we stated it was to discuss a bill that we received. She then put us on hold for two-three minutes and then came back on to ask about our question (not sure why we were put on hold if we were just going to talk to her anyway). Upon explaining our situation, she was argumentative and was unable to see our reason for disputing the charge. Finally, it seemed that in the course of the conversation she finally understood our point, as she agreed the billing was not done properly, and said that that was fine, that she was going to put on our bill that "customer refuses to pay" and that they would not be servicing us should we call again. After this exchange with this woman, they don't have to worry about them not servicing our residence as we won't be calling them again, despite the fact that the technician did fine work. read more

I purchased a GE dishwasher from Nelthorpe just over one year ago. The dishwasher door broke and I phoned Nelthrope to see if it was still under warranty and it was not by 6 weeks. Cru, from Nelthorpe without charge came to my house and fixed the problem. He would not even accept a tip for his trouble. All future appliances will be purchased from Nelthrope. My refrigerator died late Sunday. It was packed full with meats, fish, chicken, produce, everything! I was panicked. My husband got three blocks of ice and all our coolers which we filled to the brim. Monday morning we were at Nelthorpe's by 9:00. Cru explained the pro and cons of different brands. The one we decided on was in stock. Unfortunately for us (good for Nelthorpe) they have been so busy that they could not deliver until Thursday. Cru knew I was disappointed. My family has done business with this company for years. My mother had all her appliances repaired by these guys. Recently I had a dishwasher go bad just after our home warranty expired. I had Nelthorpe come out and they fixed the problem. I had to pay a deductible for the home warranty. The amount that Nelthorpe charged to fix my machine was not much more than my deductible and they did it faster and better than the company that would normally be sent by the home warranty company. Just good service...that's what I've gotten from Nelthorpe's time after time. I use them for appliances for my house and my rental. This time it was a dishwasher for the rental. Called 'em up, got a recommended model that fit my requirements. Checked it out on the manufacturer's web site. Called again a couple days later and ordered it into the Loomis location for my contractor to pick up. Done. Easy. AND they beat the price of the Sacramento appliance store by $130 for the same model. I'd send anyone to Nelthorpe's for any level of appliance needs. read more

Since 1962 I was a Nelthorpe customer: bought all my appliance--big and small there and used their repair service. I always got great service. Someone has bought the old store, but claims their record of longevity. In my opinion the new owners are not members of the Nelthrope family and have not been in business but a couple of years--but they use the Nelthrope name and record. They DO NOT offer the small town friendly store that was the hallmark of the Nelthorpe family. In my opinion I was over charged $79.99, which never ever happened when the Nelthorpe family owned the store. Bought a GE dishwasher here. The installer showed up with I think his daughter or niece. The dishwasher was thrown in the back of a beat up pick up already unpacked. She did most of the work, they left without even running it thru a cycle. When I used it, it flooded my kitchen and dining room. The motley crew came back out. Machine had a cracked wall. Surprise... They didn't have the same model so I had to buy a different more expensive one. They sent a real installer next time. Current machine works but what a pain in the butt to get to it. read more

I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this local upscale appliance store. We as a consumer go in in good faith and purchase a brand new built-In side by side refrigerator. We were told it was a 2014 floor model. (We later find out from GE that was a lie and it actually was a 2011. Two days after delivery the freezer failed. Lost all the contents and had wait I think 5 days for them to come out. Then 10 more days for parts to arrive. We felt that they should of replaced the refrigerator right then with another brand new one but they would not. Its so ridiculous... they replaced the main board, comp overload, fan motor, and condenser. The refrigerator and freezer was never able to keep a consent temperature. A month and a half after replacing all those parts it failed again. Had Nelthorpe come out and they said there was nothing else they were going to do and that I needed to call GE customer service! Really! Now they are breaking the seal (isn't that bad???) new dryer, motor fan, assem-kit. Why wont Nelthorpe do the right thing? They could replace this brand new refrigerator and deal with the manufacturer themselves, which is what a reputable business would do! Been 6 months of this, hours of time calling, talking , and not to mention all the hours waiting for the repair men and the hours working on the appliance. We even had to pay an installation fee! They should replace this appliance with a new one and compensate us for all the time and grief!. read more

Salesman Dennis was great, very helpful, and he matched prices from other stores in the area. He was also very helpful when we had a problem with one of the appliances that we ordered. Appliances were stored until we needed them and delivered as scheduled. DO NOT, however, have Nelthorpe & Son install your built-in appliances! They installed a microhood microwave oven, and did a very poor job damaging the top and door of the microwave. When I complained they did immediately order a new door for the microwave. They also damaged my brand new cabinets in the process. The installation personnel from the store appear to be very inexperienced and nobody in that store seemed to know how to properly install the microhood, or its venting properly. We had to pay someone else to re-install the microhood correctly, and also install the other two appliances. I was told by GE that by not installing the microhood according to their recommendations the warranty would be void. Also, the person that ultimately installed the microhood correctly stated that the way that Nelthorpe and Son installed the venting was a huge fire hazard. read more

I bought a new dishwasher and stove . After installing them the dishwasher will not dry the dishes. The dishwasher has a heat dry cycle on it . After call nelthorpe and son and telling them about it they asked me to call the manufacturer to come and look at it . After having the manufacturers send 2 different guys out there said there is nothing wrong . I called nelthorpe back and takes to Cruz .l( the owner )He said he would talk to the company that came out and call me back . He never called me back and once I call him I told him I was not happy with the dishwasher and would like to get it replaced or even pay to up grade it .he said there don't do that . He then said I could bring it back but he wouldn't never sell me another appliance . Is this customer service . I payed good more for it and all I wanted is to have a dishwasher that drys the dishes . Who buys a dishwasher and has to dry them before putting them away . Not only will I be without a dishwasher because he won't sell me another one . I live 2 1/2 hours away . This company has no customer service and they don't stand by there product .
