Lunch at Rockin' Rolls Sushi Express, Charlotte
    Bruce K.

This was a pleasant lunch of eating a lot of suchi, some gyoza and a stir fry. The sushi is displayed on a conveyor belt and you just grab the plates and eat. Keep going and there's no counting. This is truly "all you can eat" and they did not seem to mind that I was here for an hour. Some hot items are available on the iPad to order. I had the gyoza and a plate of shrimp stir fry. Both were good but it would be nice if the tails were removed. Otherwise, tasty. The sushi was good including some nigiri rolls. All of the fish I ate was tasty including the cooked "Volcano roll" that was fried. I would recommend skipping the Richmond and Crazy Monkey rolls - too sweet or too much going on. Empty plates were removed promptly. The soda fountain at the front has Pepsi products and there are plenty of self-service sauces. The restaurant was clean. The staff was nice and attentive. I'd do this again, maybe next time for dinner. [Review 2549 of 2024 - 4001 in North Carolina - 23560 overall]

Swung by to finally try Rockin Rolls. You pay at the front and it is all you can eat. There is a sauce bar with tons of options. Once seated you can select a couple of options for hibachi or other appetizers. The sushi goes around on a conveyer belt and you select what you want to eat. You slide a little door and grab a plate. Such a cute idea and fun place to try new rolls!

Before we get started, let's set our expectations correctly: this is all you can eat sushi and hibachi for less than $15 (lunch) and less than $20 for dinner. I'd like to consider it as the Cici's Pizza of sushi, but a notch above. ( Note: Please wear your stretchy clothes because I left with a 16 month old food baby.) ADULTS: THERE IS NO ALCOHOL, so it's a family friendly environment. The customer service was good and the people at the register were friendly. They have booths and individual seats if you come alone. The food comes on a conveyor belt and you grab what you like as you go. There's also a tablet where you can order hot food such as egg/spring rolls, crab rangoons, shrimp tempura, hibachi, etc. The hot food comes at no additional cost and is included in the price of the buffet Also, there were a few desserts to choose from. Food: 7.5 out of 10 There is a wide variety of things to choose from such as Christmas rolls, Philadelphia rolls, seaweeed salad, etc. The sushi was pretty good, but some rolls contained a lot of rice compared others. (I understand they probably have to make things stretch due to it being a buffet style.) The steak for the hibachi was a tad chewy, but the vegetables were nicely cooked. The hibachi sauce is very tasty! There was a cheesecake and a chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The cheesecake wasn't my favorite. The cheese wasn't sweet and it was a little too prevalent for my taste. The topping on the mousse was good, but the cake was a little cardboard-y. Speed of Service: 6/10 There were 2 different sections of booths. The side that I wasn't sitting on seemed to have food rolling out faster for about 10-15 minutes but they eventually caught up. Also, it took about 30-40 minutes for my order of steak hibachi and shrimp tempura to come to the table. There was a lot of people when I came, so it may be a shorter wait time if there are less people. Parking is available in the front and adjacent streets. Overall, it's a good cheap eat. I would recommend to a friend, but just make sure you let them know it isn't fine dining sushi.

Great prices for all you can eat sushi, food was nonstop on the sushi conveyor belt. We had a great time

    Seating area, friends and sushi

The tables were very poorly setup for more than 4 people. The staff was very unhelpful and told us there was cooked sushi options available via the table side tablet, however there were no sushi options on tablet. The hibachi we ordered from the tablet was pitifully small and it took 40 minutes to arrive. Extremely disappointed in this location and my friends were very unhappy too. 10/10 Would not recommend

Absolutely the best sushi place to be at . The price is pretty fair for all you can East sushi plus a few hot items you can order at table . Very fresh no fishy smell in building or taste in food . Cool place to go if you've never been . Our second time going and certainly not the last only complaint is there not being one closer and not in Charlotte lol

All the sauce/topping options on the self-serve bar.

Went for lunch with a couple gal pals. They were excited about how low cost it was. I was a bit reticent. $13.99 AYCE conveyor belt sushi seems suspect. We were there after the lunch rush (if there ever was one) maybe three other tables in the whole place. You pay at the counter, everything is self service. The sushi itself was fine, a LOT of rice, not quite enough filling, okay variety and decent amounts, never had to wait for a piece we wanted. The fact that the AYCE price included the fresh ordered from the kitchen items, like teriyaki/hibachi, dumplings, crab Rangoon and fried rice, make it worth a stop. My pregnant friend got the chicken teriyaki and said it was quite tasty and veggies were cooked properly. The fried items were nothing to write home about, but not terrible. Now, this COULD be completely unrelated, as I felt fine the rest of the day, but the next day I was dealing with some very unusual nausea spells. Can't say it was from here, neither of my friends felt ill, but I cannot rule it out either.

I am hooked on Sushi!! I looked on line for a Ayce , so hard to find without being on a chinese buffet. Anyone who has had Japanese Sushi knows there is a difference! There is no comparison. When you arrive you pay before you are told where to sit. They are practicing social distancing and doing every other table as well as they shut the conveyor Off that they normally serve the the sushi at each table.. I have heard of this from friends in other places. Would have been a fun experience. Here you use a ipad to keep the orders coming, it is mounted on every table. it's pretty fast. Then someone brings to your table. As much as you want when you want. We really did enjoy everything. The service was great keeping the empty plates off the table. They have quite a bit to pick from , nothing too fancy on the rolls. The one that had a banana in it was ok, alittle sweet and different, that was a must try. It was a pretty good place not as good as Vegas Ayce Sushi but it helps finding one we like that isn't too far away. We would go back for sure sometime.

Sushi was okay, nothing fabulous. The a la carte items weren't the greatest. Ambiance felt like I was in a jail cell.

I've never tried sushi from a conveyor belt, got food from a robot, or had a train deliver my items but it all happened today! Overall it was clean, our server Tyler was amazing, very informative and was a joy to have. I ordered strawberry fruit tea with mango poppers and was delicious. Having a boba option was nice overall. Now to the food, half the time I didn't know what I was getting and that was what made it fun. Not so fun if you have allergies though. Some of the items were mixed on the belt and there would be a few going by and then the sign would show up maybe 30 seconds later. I did order steak hibachi, jalapeno things, and some classic chicken nuggets. Grabbed a few sushi rolls from the conveyor, the ones I did have were really good. All the other items were good as well. I really enjoyed those jalapeno things. Steak hibachi was tender and seasoned well. Fruit was a hit or miss, which is typical but a nice palate cleanser. I absolutely hated the seaweed salad, it was crunchy and weird. Not my typical seaweed salad experience. The edamame was very mushy which threw me off. But we're not here for veggies or fruit it's AYCE. Now the little cake things.. whatever that tiramisu flavor looking one was so divine. I would come back just for that cake. The chocolate one was just meh. I was so preoccupied and nervous about conveyor belt sushi that I never got to order real rolls. So that's definitely on my to do list next time and If you don't eat everything they do charge for food waste! So just be particular about what you grab. Overall my experience as a first timer was fun. I ate a lot and left happy.

The selection is honestly quite good. There's appetizers, teriyaki (would recommend the salmon!), hibachi, sushi appetizers, all pretty good honestly! Loved the experience, loved the food, loved the vibes.

My wife and I had each visited Japanese steakhouses like this before we met, but somehow neither of us had been to one during our 18 years together. Then we discovered Noboru! We enjoyed our first visit so much that we returned just two weeks later. It isn't overly fancy--it offers the classic Benihana-style experience, with the chef preparing everything directly in front of you--but the food is tender, flavorful, and filling. Of course, you also get dinner and a show! The service was spot-on during both visits. We were always well taken care of, and everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I ordered the larger filet dinner both times and didn't change a thing. When something is that good, why mess with it? My wife ordered the steak and shrimp during our first visit, but she enjoyed my filet so much that she upgraded to the filet and shrimp on our return. Quality cuts of meat, skillful preparation, excellent seasoning, friendly service, and an entertaining experience have made Noboru a new favorite in our restaurant rotation. We thoroughly enjoyed both visits, had no complaints whatsoever, and will absolutely be back very soon. To those about to nosh, we are jealous!

Frankly, I wanna try other items on the menu, but I'm so addicted to this Bento Box, I just can't seem to tear away from it. My husband feels the same! Also tried their hot Sake...but think I prefer the cold version. BTW, I noticed some renovations. They now have darker Cherry Wood (?) flooring and cabinetry (behind the sushi station, that is). However, they still have some original light wood chairs and tables. Also, they separated some of the tables (Yay!)...so not as many "communal" tables like before.
