I had Cheeseburger and it was very good. I would recommend holding the onions or asking them to use minimal onions because my cheeseburger had a ton of chopped onions and they weren't easy to remove. The onion rings were great. My husband had deluxe burger with olives on it. He said it was really good and the olives really give it a different taste. He had crinkle cut fries. They give you a ton of fries so I'd recommend sharing. They only take cash and it is pricier than most burger joints. Bring at least $25 with you for two people. read more

Neon Grill is my go-to place anytime I'm in town so giving 3 stars feels wrong. However the cash payment is outdated and costing this place business. If Neon Grill were to invest in the Square pay (just charge all credit card purchases an extra 3% to cover the cost - people would be willing to pay it) it would get a lot more business. There have been numerous times that I have had to turn around and leave due to not having cash or I didn't have enough cash for everything I wanted. The food is fresh and delicious and I would gladly give five stars (and pay extra) if I could pay with card. read more

Neon Grill is a staple for Saint Joseph. The burgers are skinny and greasy but very tasty, the fries are good (order them "crispy" or they can be a bit limp), though I always ask for no seasoning (they come with a sort of seasoned salt). The onion rings are very good. The only reason I have to go 2 stars is the long wait. This is not "fast food". I've spent 10-15 minutes in the drive through waiting for an order. Altogether a great pick if you're craving a greasy burger. Just make sure you're not in a hurry. read more

We're fairly new to the area, and took a ride to St. Joseph today (gotta take advantage of a rare warm day, ya know). The Neon Grill caught our eye - luckily for us. We each got regular hamburgers and fries, and they were just fantastic. My husband, not one to rave, kept saying variations of, "This is the best hamburger I've had in a LONG time." Even once we got home, he was still mentioning it. The burgers were obviously freshly made. Fries were fantastic and lightly seasoned -- not with that orange, fake overly-seasoned stuff, thankfully. We will DEFINITELY be back, and now we know to try the shakes (diet be damned)! read more

Best burger I have eaten! I got the double cheeseburger with only mayo and olives. Omg the olives were so good! The fries were ok but the onion rings were crispy and delicious. We also got a chocolate milkshake which was very chocolaty and good :) Side note the yelp address isn't right. It takes you to a funeral home. Excellent drive-thru only place. Food is good and service is quick. We had the double cheeseburger deluxe and jumbo hotdog with sides of onion rings and fries. The milkshakes were tasty but thick giving my tongue a real workout when sucking it through the narrow straws they gave us. I would definitely return for more, and way before hitting one of the generic chain fast food traps. read more

My husband and I did not have any expectations upon pulling up to the neon grill drive thru. We ordered two deluxe burgers, a choc shake, and one large fry. The choc shake came out first and I was surprised at how awesome it was! I saw them pull out a bin of burger patties that were hand patted between wax paper. When our burgers came, we were amazed at how big and delicious they were! I think they had olives on them and that made it so delicious! You get a lot of food for your money here! I'll tell you what. I USED to tell everyone that the burger at the Neon Grill was the BEST non-bar cheeseburger in SW Michigan. Not anymore, sadly. It's not terrible... it's just gone far downhill. One leaf of wilted lettuce, one slice of tomato in the middle of the burger, a few (again wilted) slices of onion, maybe a teaspoon of olives (I ordered the deluxe), and a woefully under seasoned & overcooked burger patty. Buns were flattened and just sort of... blah. I used to LIVE for their seasoned fries, and even those are weak now - tepid & soggy, with very little seasoning. You used to have to lick the stuff off your fingers!! It just appears that the owners (or the cooks) don't care anymore. I mean, I seriously used to LOVE the NG - it was a guaranteed once a month stop. These last couple of visits though, mean I'm done until I hear things have changed - especially considering it's NOT cheap at ALL - nearly $20 for two cheeseburgers, 2 orders of fries, and 2 16oz pops. I'm telling you, I hate to write this review, but if you'd had a NG burger even a couple years ago & compare it to the one today, no comparison. I sure hope they up the game soon... read more

It's OK, but almost every bar in St. Joe has a better burger than the Neon Grill, and they're cheaper, too. It's kind of a novelty to get food from here once or twice in the summer, I think, because it can't be quality that keeps the place doing decent business. I've never had any bad experiences with the neon grill untill I got to work after picking up my lunch and this is what I found. This is nothing like a BLT that I ordered. I'm not even sure the bacon is bacon, it's round and doesn't smell like bacon. Maybe spam fried in bacon grease? Bacon should be bacons slices not faked. Neon grill is amazing. Their food is so good and tasty. I always get their hamburger but when I get home I have to put more ketchup on the hamburger they put so little on it but other than that neon grill is the best. I love their seasoned fries also, their fries don't even need ketchup on them their so good. My brother loves neon grill too but he gets the deluxe hamburger.... Their hot dogs are really good too. Tried this place due to the fact that they have a banner hanging outside stating they have the best burgers in town. First...everyone should take cash if going there as that is all they take. The servers were nice enough. Now onto the food....I am not a fan of olives and had I known they cut up green olives and smear it all over the deluxe burger I would have ordered something different. It also have lettuce and a tomato. I generally think of a deluxe as having lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon...no olives. They should list the ingredients on the menu. Even if the olives had not been on there I thought the burger patty was dry and thin. I know there are much better burgers around the area...maybe not if you want to stay in your car. There are also some in Benton Harbor. North Shore Inn and Chatterbox have awesome burgers!! read more

What he got was a horrendously put together chili cheese dog. Thoroughly disappointed by this experience. Last Friday i decided on my favorite burgers and cheese fries for dinner. Long story short the ypung man working the window that night lost a loyal customer forever. I live in Stevensville so could have went to Culvers right around the corner. From the second i pulled up to order i asked for a moment to decide. Then when i was ready to order he told me that i needed to wait very rudely. I ordered over 30$ worth of food. When i went to pay i asked if he was having a bad day. He rolled his eyes asked why and then asked me if i was. I never got a please thankyou or smile. I left without food or paying. I work in the restaurant business and have my whole life. Im a big believer in great customer service and making sure im polite and treating paying customers the way that i would want to be treated. First and foremost the paying customer is how the business stays open. I was extremely disappointed and treated horribly. Last of all the young man didnt care either way if they received my business. Theres a dozen places to eat in that location competition is huge. Very Disappointed!! read more
