Worst experience ever except for one person at the end which I will name later. Although I see that Cesar Mata received a great review in December 2025, my experience was the contrary in January 2026. His intonation and condolences came across scripted. I do understand that you may need to develop a thick skin in this type of business, but his demeanor came across as "this is just a job" and merely going through the motions. He blamed others for delays and once even acted as if he was upset for a continued delay which I brought to his attention. Due to delays, it felt forced to follow up each step of the way to make sure the process was progressing. Not something I wanted to do while I mourned the loss of my dad. Others small matters was Mr. Mata trying to charge me a cost that had already been paid for in the preneed. Once I asked for the preneed, he miraculously found that it was paid for. He also stated that certain information on the birth certificate did not have to be exact, but close enough. He was referring to deceased complete name, years of residency in the current state, and his parent's correct names. He also said that my dad's complete name may not all fit on the DC. Of course it all fits, and did fit. Why would the name not be important on the DC. Again, i felt his attitude is basically lets get these papers going and move on to the next. Toward the end, I can only assume Mr. Mata chose to have someone else at Neptune assist me with any further inquiries. That was the best decision he made. I began to speak with Alexis who did a wonderful job keeping me informed, and I no longer had to call for status update. She had a kind demeanor and kept me well informed each step of the way until the end of the process. Thank you Alexis. I left a review almost 30 days ago. No one tried to resolve my complaint. It seems their "go to fix" is simply to apologize. I would like a refund for services paid for that they failed to provide. I would like to speak to someone in charge and I should not have to continuously call to try to reach the right person. Someone should have called me a year ago when I initially reached out to get a refund. My dad picked out and paid for a veteran style urn a year before his passing. Neptune failed to get that urn to me for his funeral service I am only asking to be refunded for the urn and storage service of the urn since I was told he paid for that. We did not go with them because I had a very big problem trying to get them to honor their general price list of Pre-Need cremation effective 2/11/2025 and according to a different paper ending 5/31/2025. There was an option printed in bold letters called "Direct Cremation" it gave a price range. It explained everything that it included. Then there were four options to choose from, each having an exact price. Agent kept trying to sell me a plan that was $904 more expensive that was not listed on the price list. Then tried to sell me a plan that was on the price list, but it included additional items, also over $900 more expensive. Later, I was told that I did not qualify for that plan, that it was only for people in hospice care. I stated that the price list did not state that (and that is not true). After constant dissuasion, statements that the recreation as listed on the price list was not an option, etc, etc, etc, several phone calls back-and-forth and speaking with a manager, I was finally told that they would honor the price only if it was a contract that would be signed at their office as opposed to doing it online or on the phone with them as is customary). I agreed, even though they would not give me the $250 discount I was previously offered in writing for doing the payment plan. Then I was told they had no appointments at the local office and I had to drive 30 miles 2 days later to sign the contract. If I didn't sign by then, (May 31),the price would go up to an unknown amount. We were unable to go 5/31so I told him we would just go with another company. To me, it's very upsetting Neptune Society makes it so extremely hard to make them honor what is plainly written on their price list. It made me wonder if they would live up to their other written promises. PS I received an email two days later stating that the price for what I wanted was not affected by the pricing increase. However I still chose another company that saved me $1,400 per person. read more

JOHN WANG was extremely rude! He promised to send information by email in time for the black Friday sale, but he did not. Today is black Friday I might add. Other companies are offering discounts as well. I decided to go with another company who's rep followed up several times along with via email. Today John Wang called back, but I explained I had already decided to go with the other company. At that point he went ballistic. I politely listened to his rant, but then he would not allow me to reply. He simply talked over me, saying that he didn't want to argue and and ended the call. Treating potential customers like this, even if they have made another decision is damaging to your company, and you should choose someone else to represent the interests of Neptune. Interestingly enough, the rep from the company I signed with used to work for Neptune yet she did not say negative things about the company only that the company that she was working with had better benefit. Neptune Society worked well when both my parents passed. I gave the Neptune Society phone number and individual ID number to the hospital/nursing home where they spent their final days. Everything was taken care of promptly and perfectly. No further action was required of me. This was a great relief to me as their daughter. This is why I chose it for my self. I spoke with John Yang, at the West Covina branch. He was very easy to work with. No in person appointment was needed, it was all handled over the phone. I had previously used Neptune in 2009 in Covina and in early 2024 in Orange County and had a positive experience. However, my experience in October in Covina was really unpleasant. I worked with a man named Angel who was harsh and rude during our first few conversations. The contractual paperwork sent to me for signature was incorrect, so I called to correct a simple address error which he failed to correct in the 2nd version of the contract. I called spoke to a man named Charles who was very kind and took all of the information from me, then I had to have another unpleasant call from Angel, and nevertheless the error persisted in the resent documents. The delay in completion of the documents results in a delay in cremation and receipt of death certificates, so I kept trying. Finally a lovely woman named Anoush corrected the paperwork. I received the death certificates about a week later, with, you guessed it, the incorrect address on them. Dealing with the death of a loved one is hard enough without the snarky employee or difficulty in processing. Buyer beware. I must say, the women who picked up my mom were really great. Their staff was very irresponsible and gave my husband's death certificate to someone else after I had sent a message long before to confirm that I wanted to keep the death certificate. I asked him in person and he said he could reissue it for me in two days, but they just gave me an address and asked me to pay for it myself. The address I was given was still wrong. When I arrived at the office, the staff said I would need to wait another two weeks before reissuing it. Very bad place, please remember his name. read more

My mom passed away in June 2023, she was spread at sea the beginning of November 2023 and it is now February 2024 and the official certificate of her spreading day has yet to be sent to me. I know, you might be saying, "it's a damn certificate, get over it!" But when something is promised to you that has meaning, I'm not going to get over it. I have emailed and texted several times since the beginning of the year and to no avail, there has been no response or resolution. I helped a friend get her policy when she discovered her husbands illness was terminal. I was there the night he passed and 2 very compassionate and well dressed men came to fetch him. Worst customer service ever!!! My father bought cremation services and scattering at sea back in 2010. He passed away December 23, 2024. The gentleman that picked up my father was very respectful and kind so I thought that the Neptune Society was an upstanding business. Unfortunately they are not! I was not too surprised that they were unavailable during the next few days because of the holiday. But what followed was shocking and completely unacceptable! Neptune Society that I had to endure was nothing more than con artists! They were very clearly trying to take advantage and charge me more money for something that was already paid for!!!! The con artist (named interestingly enough "Angel") that was very clearly was the creepiest person I've ever met! He was even wearing a large scorpion brooch! Very strange! Tattoos creeping up his neck from is brightly colored shirt. Very strange for someone you have to deal with and wanted to trust!!! He became aggressive and extremely disrespectful! Do not use the Neptune Society. My father died one week ago. I have left 5 messages with them, never got a call back. Finally by being Very angry I got through to the person who was supposed to be handling the details. He said he had no record of any calls (wrong!). He says he had called me and left messages, but to an old phone number I have not had for 6 months. I know my correct number was given to the people who picked up the body, plus messages I left with the people who answered the phone. When I finally got to talk with him he was rude, and gave me a long list of questions that needed answering by 5 PM that day. I sent the emai right away. No responce. Two phone calls to try to reach him and all I got was "He stepped away". I asked to talk to a suppervisor. "He stepped away." Lots of lies, and I have no idea what is happening to my father's body. We were trying to accommodate family who was travelling from different states. He coordinated with the Cemetery (which is above and beyond his duties) to make sure the permit was written the way they needed it. He sent me the Death Certificates in a timely manner so I could handle my fathers affairs. When I picked up my father's Ashes he did not keep me waiting and he handled it in such a professional yet caring and pleasant way. This is for my mother that passed away.. Don't let the name of this place push you to come here. They may appear to be the Rolls Royce of the industry with fast pitched sales, but I was not happy. Fast paced..sign here, sign there and an immediate request for payment and take my credit card as you're signing all the papers. It's not like anyone else is waiting in there. SURPRISE!! GUESS WHAT SHOWED UP AT MY DOOR UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT NOTICE. A box with an urn in it. You're supposed to put it someplace until your relative dies. Hmmm...checked inside to make sure someone else's ashes weren't inside. After paying this huge amount of money (over a couple thousand dollars), they will send you a one foot by one foot metal box, eight inch deep with a small metal urn inside. That urn is a smaller metal box 5 inches by 3 inches . The bigger box is for photos. Why wasn't I told about this? Who's going to look inside of a box at photos??? Waste of time and money. Ever hear of photo albums??? Or how about photos on your computer or Facebook and Yelp? The smaller box was used for my mom's ashes. Over a couple thousand dollars for a cremation and then they asked for additional money after my mom passed away. They said they explained this at the beginning. Now why would you explain that I have to pay money at the end when I could have paid everything up front in the beginning. They said this was closing costs. This isn't a real estate deal? At this point, I refused to pay any additional costs. Over the next several days, I had a not so friendly conversation with a person there and I informed them that my mom's body may be there but her spirit was in heaven. If you want to keep mom's ashes there...then that's fine with me. We did have several not so friendly telephone conversations regarding what should be done with my mother. Still not happy, we did somehow come to a resolution. So getting back to mom's ashes. We asked about going out to sea to view the scattering of the ashes. The lady replies that it would be an extra $400.00. Are you serious? What about all that money we had already spent? I informed her for that price, I should bring some friends and fishing rods and after Mom's service we could go fishing. Well you can go for a half day for $100.00 each off El Segundo which is a couple miles away. I told her that I said that for comparison purposes. She just looked at me and said that's the price.
