The food at this place has really gone downhill over the years. When you're running a beachside seafood shack in Malibu, and your Calamari is like something one could get at Denny's, we've got a problem. Especially when the Calamari cost $20 and the serving size is super stingy. Don't get me started on the burgers, which are basically like something you could get at a Middle School cafeteria. To be fair, the fish tacos were good, and the location is still incredible, but they used to have reliably good food across the board to match the always inflated prices. The prices have gone up, but the quality has apparently gone way down. It's a shame. It was our first time here in a long while and we were super disappointed. read more

Awful. We got grilled fish tacos, a cheeseburger with fries and 2 drinks- $60. The burger was clearly precooked and came out lukewarm with a basket of fries that tasted like fish. The fish tacos were on cold store bought tortillas, the fish wasn't a piece of grilled fish - it was little pieces of fish in some kind of sauce. There was NO seasoning on the burger, fries or tacos. Food Is a bit overpriced for what it is. Definitely would recommend eating somewhere else for what you're paying. Service is quite fast and easy but the tables could be wiped down more often. Over-all atmosphere is great, there's a great view of the ocean. Plenty of parking but if the parking lot is full then you can park by the beach and walk across PCH. My cousin had the clam chowder bread bowl. The soup was ok. The bread was not. It was tasteless and not a good consistency. My fish combo was ok - a bit too greasy for me. One of my fav places getting some delicious crispy seafood at the PCH. I love pairing the calamari plate with my day trip visiting the beach. The process to order is easy and there's very plentiful seating (mainly outdoors) but there's indoor tables as well. Bathrooms are located outside next to the parking lot. The location is great, right across the street from the beach. Ambiance is beach bum vibe, somewhat leaning toward old and not so clean. Oh and I hope you like pigeons if you eat outside. The employees are pretty nice. Now for the food.... the fish was ok. The onion rings are a huge portion but very salty and greasy. I'm almost sure the fried shrimp came from a box in the freezer as did the onion rings. Just be prepared for grease overload....oh and if you get a meal with the coleslaw included the container is the size of a plastic katsup cup. But thats ok, it wasn't very good anyway. The atmosphere was one of a bustling fast food restaurant with order numbers being frequently called out and tables turning over quickly so seating is selective at times. We had an outside table with a great view but lacking in the sanitary department; desperately needed to be wiped down. Ordered 2 fish salads; grilled Ahi Tuna and grilled Mahi which came out with the quickness. The tuna looked great; lovely piece of fish with a solid cook and properly seasoned. The Mahi on the hand was bland but also cooked correctly. Otherwise our meal was decent. Also to add to the what other diners have mentioned, the French fries were luke warm and chewy. Not the worst and not the best which compliments the entire experience as "so so". It's a one and done experience for sure, cool to check it out but no need to revisit. read more

The restaurant is small and you can only order at the counter. However, the food is delivered quickly. The tipping range is also acceptable. The food is good and is typical for Pacific restaurant however the main appeal to this restaurant is it fantastic reputation and Pacific Oceanside views Fortunately even when the restaurant is busy, the food is delivered quickly and you won't have to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes. It was my first time trying Neptune's Net. I don't come to the area often, but I was glad to be able to try a bucket list spot. The food is all priced very similarly no matter what you order - tacos, plates, burgers. It is all extremely expensive. Not only that, but the utensils they have are the super cheap plastic kind that you need to be careful with since they might break in the middle of you trying to eat your meal. Additionally, I had to remove a star simply on the portion size of the fish. It is on the smaller side for sure. It really is nothing special. Though, it does taste rather healthy at least! Can only speak on the fish plates, but obviously if you get a cheeseburger, maybe it is not so healthy. Another pet peeve of mine is the fact that we had to pay $5 just to park. The bathrooms are porta potties. They also put your order number on blast throughout the restaurant when it is ready and their speaker is really loud- it hurt my ears quite frankly. A bit far out there, but worth the drive. This was the most efficient and quick service Ive ever experienced at a roadside restaurant. Indoor seating is all open, so you feel like you're sitting outdoors. Destination for motorcycles- so many cool bikes. Food is hot and plentiful. Thin crispy fries, the dish fillets are also thin but juicy and tender. The breaded shrimp were delicious. Tartar sauce on the thin side with dill and none of the customary pickle tang. Cocktail sauce had a nice horseradish kick. Onion ring portion was huge, and real rings - not chopped onion bits. Four stars for the efficiency and the vibe. Fellow Bravo-holics, this is where a Mr Jax Taylor from Vanderpump Rules reformed his bad boy ways and proposed to Beer-Cheese-Brittany. Yep, a true historical landmark in Malibu! hehe :) iykyk. Neptune's Net is along the PCH with beautiful views, and thankfully a pretty well sized parking lot. There is a lot of parking just for motorcycles, too. There are some other seafood spots along the PCH and I really like Neptune's Net as everything seems to run much more efficiently and quickly. I was there on a beautiful Saturday over the weekend at peak lunch times and never saw the line get toooooo crazy. Customers most definitely appreciate the minimal waits here. I didn't find their prices offensive at all and went with just a classic fish & chips to try on my first visit. The fish was so darn juicy and the outer deep frying was tasty, as well. My very tiny qualm is the outer shell doesn't stay on very well and kept sliding off before I could finish my protein. They use the same batter as they did on my friend's shrimp whereas usually fish has a lighter deep frying. It was still delicious though.But that aside, their fries were really good and the tartar sauce was also stellar. If you are a beer drinker, you are going to be in heaven. As a retired beer chick, I envied all the options along their huge wall of coolers. I really liked Neptune's Net a lot and would love to take out of town people here. Been here multiple times as I live locally and usually get the clam chowder which is pretty decent. Recently had the fried fish tacos that were just very sub par, it seemed like there was more breading than fish. Description was a generic "white fish" and it tasted like that with some cabbage and some guacamole squeezed from a tube. They do have a great selection of canned beers and a beautiful view across from the beach but wouldn't recommend it for quality seafood. Love to support local businesses but the food just isn't worth the money when there are much more delicious places in Malibu. read more

Wow. I love being ripped off by the ocean. Soooooooo bad. I was excited when I walked in and saw "basket of calamari" for $19.99 The basket was 80% shitty fries and then the skinniest slices of calamari sprinkled on top like parsley. When I went to say something about it at the counter the man was rude and looked at me like I was crazy and he didn't understand what I'm talking about. An order at the counter fried fish shack on the north western border of Malibu near point Mugu. I have been coming here since I was a little kid because the drive to it is almost unbeatable. It's right across from the water on the PCH and everything surrounding it is truly beautiful. They have a parking lot attached for free parking and also street parking is easy to find in this area. It's not nearly as crowded as other parts of Malibu because of its location, so the traffic doesn't get heavy. When entering you choose your drink from many different refrigerators. They have everything from soda to beer to wine and everything in between. Next you order at the counter and they call your number, you grab your food, and then you can sit inside or out to enjoy. The portion sizes are large but the food is not the best that I've had but is still pretty good. There are a few other fried fish spots around LA that I prefer more but this is the best location of all the fried fish restaurants. For my dinner I decided to order the Fish & Shrimp Combo and thought it was pretty good. The fish is Pollock and quite large. The shrimp was quite small but still had some great flavor. Their cocktail sauce is especially great. I couldn't get enough of it. Overall it's worth the visit at least once for everybody because of how famous it is. So disappointing! We were staying nearby and decided to go have a few appetizers - calamari, clam strips... I knew before I went that there was something I did not like last time I was there, but I couldn't put my finger on it as it had been a number of years. We ordered the clam strips and calamari. The $18 order of clam strips was the most disappointing strips I've ever had. First of all, the order was about the size of your palm. I would say there were 20 or so tiny clam strips in the order. My son took the breading off of a few because you couldn't taste any clams, and it looked like an inch long strip the size of a guitar string. It was like cut up little clam strips overly breaded. I even went back to the guy at the counter and I asked if this was the $18 size order and he said yes it was. I literally was shocked! The calamari was just OK. A little rubbery and the order wasn't very big either. Needless to say, we will never go back or recommend the place to anybody. This iconic Malibu seafood restaurant and biker bar has been in many movies and has been serving customers cruising up and down the PCH since the late 50's. Anytime I am near Malibu Beach, I try to make a stop here for a quick bite. I enjoy the fun atmosphere of bikers rolling up and surfers grabbing a bite after a day of catching some waves. You can't miss their iconic sign when driving by. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant itself is super casual. Majority of the menu here at Neptune's Net is fried fresh seafood. They do have some burgers, tacos and hotdogs for the non-seafood lovers. The ceviche and clam chowder are some of my favorite items. I also get the Shrimp Tacos. These tacos have a nice mix of avocado, cabbage, tomatoes and a generous portion of crunchy fried shrimp. Service is usually good and prices are average. I came here in the late afternoon recently and enjoyed my relaxing day with some good food and a nice breeze from the ocean. Some friends were visiting from out of town and were looking for some really fresh seafood ! This epic spot has some of the best coastal seafood from Ventura County down to Laguna Beach! All of the seafood is cooked perfectly and consistently ! Considering the popularity and the busyness of this spectacular location, the ordering system is great, having the patron moving swiftly through process including the acquisition of a table, whether it is indoors our out! Every time we stop by, the fish is flaky and crispy, the shrimp are plump, juicy, and HUGE with a nice crunch ! The scallops, crab cake, and calamari are all stellar, as well ! Too much to list !! We finally made it out this way to try Neptune's Net. A favorite seafood beachside eatery for many, and an icon of the Malibu area. This was our respite after volunteering at Pepperdine University for the 9/11 Flag removal. Lots of ocean view seating, and that's one of this restaurants main attractions. Our order for this first time visit was the fish & chips, fried chicken salad and onion rings. As well as two bottled sodas. The fish was good, though I would have preferred cod over the white fish they serve with fries. The portion sizes are huge, a plus. The onion rings were tasty, but not the best I've ever had. And we thought the fried chicken had an odd taste. The veggies that came with the salad weren't the freshest neither; especially the less than desirable looking cucumbers. So our first visit here was kind of a mixed bag. And at some 61 miles from our home, nothing to travel out of our way for in the future. read more

Cruising around we ended up in this place. It was so nice to eat right by the beach. You can literally cross the street and enjoy the ocean view. They have benches there to just sit there and enjoy the moment. As for the food it was very delicious. I had the fish and chips. However I saw many people with burgers which looked great as well. Just past the Los Angeles County line, Neptune's Net is a very popular spot along PCH. The parking lot can get packed, and so can the outdoor seating, so be prepared to wait for a place to sit. They offer a variety of seafood options. I ordered the seafood sampler, which included raw oysters, cooked shrimp, and crab. The price was on the pricier side of what I would pay for coastline food, but it was not too bad. The staff here are friendly too. If you order the seafood sampler, you also get a pair of Neptune's Net flip flops (shaped like the California state route sign, so I would not recommend actually wearing). Because of the outdoor seating, it reminds me of a picnic environment - a good sit-down for a small party to enjoy some seafood. read more
