Malibu Sake House is such an amazing vibe, classy and sexy. We grabbed a few items to start noodles, cucumber salad, edamame, short ribs, and mochi ice cream which was such a treat. And beautiful drinks to match which was a great concoction of lychee and sake. But we also did tried the filtered sake which was delicious. Rafi the owner is so nice, welcoming and humble. The staff was on top of it and actually helped us with our order of food and drinks to pair the whole time. Cant wait to come back and try more items and on a better day because June gloom was glooming(crying) You do have to pay for parking, which is inexpensive. Until Next time, Thank you so much!

We visited this restaurant on Mother's Day and had a reservation for 8 PM. Unfortunately, despite booking in advance, we were told upon arrival that we still needed to wait another 15-20 minutes. After waiting, we were offered a table tucked away in the corner of the patio, facing another table instead of the ocean view the restaurant is known for. Since the atmosphere and open patio were one of the main reasons we chose this place, we declined and waited another 5-10 minutes before finally being seated at a better table in the middle of the patio. On top of the already high menu prices, valet parking was $20, and a 20% tip was heavily pushed as well, which made the overall experience feel even more overpriced. The atmosphere itself was probably the strongest part of the experience. The open-air setup was pleasant, the tables were spaced apart nicely, and the music was great. There was a DJ playing throughout the evening, which created a relaxing vibe without being overwhelming. Unfortunately, the food and service did not match the prices or expectations. The menu was confusing and required a lot of explanation from the server. We ordered edamame, seaweed salad, and four different sushi tacos. Each taco was around $18, yet they were extremely small -- you could easily eat two and still feel hungry. Considering the pricing, the portions felt unreasonable. The wait for the food was also surprisingly long, especially for such small dishes. To make things more confusing, the edamame -- which is normally served as a quick appetizer -- arrived at the very end of the meal instead of first. There were also small details that reflected poor organization. No ginger or wasabi were provided, and the soy sauce container on the table was completely empty when we sat down. When I mentioned it to the server, she acted as though she had already refilled it, even though it had clearly been empty from the beginning. At the end of the night, they also did not provide a paper receipt. Instead, they quickly scrolled through the bill on a tablet, making it difficult to properly review the charges before paying. Overall, the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere and potential, but the long waits, tiny portions, lack of attention to detail, and extremely high prices made the experience disappointing.

There is parking available on the street but don't risk it like I did. I ended up getting a parking ticket. I recommend valet parking since it is going uphill when you arrive to this restaurant. The restaurant is located on the third floor. This spot is across the street from the ocean. The view from this place was just as phenomenal. If you want something that screams something different, with photo op type vibes, and aesthetically pleasing then this is the place to go to, with their iconic cherry blossom tree in the center of the dining area, the great calm vibes of all the different decor from different parts of Southeast Asia make this very calm and relaxing place to go to the DJ that plays the music played a phenomenal playlist, which was nothing too hectic or crazy that makes your brain go berserk all the music that he played here was absolutely soothing. The staff was very nice. We didn't have reservations till 9 o'clock, but were trying to squeeze in a little earlier and they managed to do so for us so we were seated at a table that are considered like low top tables because of the style and the height of these tables, but we didn't mind. It was still a beautiful experience. So shout out to the hosts for making this happen for us. The owner Rafi was very, very friendly and hospitable. We noticed him talking to all the other guests that were dining in there, and he was very friendly to address some questions that we had for possible future, catering events at this location. The food, however, was not that great the cuts of the carpaccio that we ordered specifically the halibut and the yellowtail were questionable, but overall was not that bad flavor. We also ordered their coconut ceviche, which we thought, for some reason would have some kind of a fish or seafood in it, but it was just vegetables and mango with a coconut type dressing to it, and it came with chips. We also ordered their short ribs which came with rice, some kimchi and a little bit of cucumbers, which was a little too salty. You come here for drinks and the vibes you want something to snack on then these in my opinion are considered snack size portions and because it's located in Malibu, the prices are pretty fair.

The restaurant is beautiful, not quite on the beach, but has a terrific view. The whole vibe is very cool. However, we were seated in the sun and it was bothering us a lot, kind of made the experience less magical. Tried the shumai and dumplings. Both were typical flavor profiles you'd expect, nothing fancy. However, the prices are insane. $16 for each dish and you get 4 very small pieces. Not worth it at all. I tried the green dragon drink and that was well made and unique. Drinks and atmosphere may be the way to go here, everything else I'm not so convinced.

Valet parking $20 Mandatory 20% service charge Ambiance and view is very nice. We came here at 2pm on a Saturday. The quality of the fish is fresh however we ordered the miso cod lettuce cups and it took 30 minutes for it to come out. They also had to remake our smoked salmon hand roll because they didn't put the truffle on it. The server didn't really come around to check up on us even though it wasn't busy. We told one of the staff that we wanted to order two snow crab handrolls and after waiting another 30 minutes, we were told that the order was never relayed to our server so it was never put in. The owner was very kind and apologetic and they took the snow crab handrolls off our tab, which we appreciated. overall, the experience was a bit disappointing given the delays and lack of service, but the atmosphere and the owner's response helped redeem it slightly. be prepared to wait and pay a pretty penny.

Service was exceptional, server Julie went above and beyond with my dishes. Her selection was great! The ambiance was absolutely beautiful and they had a dj for the evening. The reason I gave it a 4 star was one slight thing in the food. The ribs were very chewy and not tender enough. But overall it is a great place to attend.

As much as I adore this spot, it feels more like a Malibu essential for the ambiance than for the nomz. Pescavegan friendly, and able to accommodate dairy allergies. The food was good -- just not particularly filling. I'm all for model-sized munchies, but on a late Friday night (after a full day of moving), I was hoping for a few heartier options to truly get my grub on. I can't fully vouch for the service since I was admittedly distracted by the decadent decor -- and perhaps slightly lost in my Italian lover's eyes. That said, the space itself is painfully gorgeous. Also: be prepared to valet. I believe it's $20ish just to park, which strikes me as high (but I'm much cheaper than my customer service-savvy companions, who don't bat an eye in the face of expense). Sake House Malibu is undeniably a vibe, and absolutely worth a return for the atmosphere alone. RSVP energy required.

I went to the restaurant on Friday evening and the ambiance was amazing, the front ladies were very accommodating and friendly. Our reservation was met and on time. We had to switch out our waiter with an attitude and we ended up with a very nice waitress. I was a little disappointed with the food. We ordered a few dishes and I will critique them 1. Wings 2. BBQ ribs 3. Vegetables egg rolls 4. Miso soup 5. Crispy Rice with Salmon 5. Lemonade

Ambiance was great, we got there around 6:30pm for a bachelorette party (party of 9). You should make a reservation most days if you want to do dinner there. Their food was good, I would say if you're looking for a place to take pictures and have smaller portioned foods, then this is perfect as you have a view of the ocean too. They are more about aesthetic and vibe than portion but it was altogether a good experience!

Beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance, stylish interior, and amazing views. The music created a very enjoyable atmosphere, and the staff was friendly throughout the evening. Service, however, was a bit slow. It took quite a while for the food to arrive, and even our three appetizers were brought out in three separate trips, which made the dining experience feel somewhat disorganized. The biggest disappointment was the portion sizes. At first glance, the menu prices seemed reasonable, but once the food arrived, the value felt very questionable. We ordered four different sushi tacos, and when the plates came out, we honestly thought they had only brought one or two dishes instead of all four. The total for those tacos alone was around $70, yet the portions were extremely small. The food quality itself was decent, but nothing particularly memorable or unique. Edamame was bland and mushy. Overall, this is a nice place for the atmosphere and views, but if you're coming hungry, be prepared to order quite a bit -- and spend accordingly.

I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant! The Japanese inspired architecture and decor are exquisite and truly create an immersive feel! The restaurant sits on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, which of course provides amazing views! When you arrive, the entrance is a little bit obscure. At least for us we were dropped off in a parking garage and then went into the lobby of a building. Had to take the elevator up to the third floor, which then allowed you to enter the restaurant. However, once you get up there, it is spectacular... from the moment you step off the elevator you are enveloped in Japanese surroundings. All of the dining is outside under a giant sakura tree.... Which is lit up in a fabulous pink light, making for a very romantic dinner! Our waiter came over almost immediately got a drink and appetizer order and came back shortly later to get our dinner order. All of the food came out quickly, so probably best to order it in stages. We started tonight with the Cucumber Salad, Chicken Gyoza and the Miso Black Cod Lettuce Wraps. Then moved onto Yellowtail Habanero Sashimi, which was presented like a piece of art!! And beyond delicious! My husband also had a few pieces of Tuna and Salmon Sushi. And we finished up with Flourless Chocolate Cake also presented in a truly unique way! ( see photos) Everything that we had was some of the best food I've ever eaten! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Malibu. It is such an experience and the food is delicious. The other fun aspect of this restaurant is they have live Geisha girls singing and dancing! It makes for such an amazingly fun special entertaining night something you just have to experience!

My boyfriend and I had anniversary dinner here after seeing videos about this place. Great ambiance and nice server! However the food is just okay, it took about 25 minutes for crispy rice to course out and additional 15-20 minutes per dish. Happy sumo cocktails were just meh. Star of the show was the crispy rice with truffle soy salmon. Everything was just okay and a bit overpriced. I wouldn't recommend anyone if you want to spend almost $300 for two people, parking is $20 as well. This place is definitely for anyone who prefers slow table turns and ambiance but don't expect your dishes to come out fast because it'll bored you quick waiting.

I've been coming here since they first opened, and it's remained a favorite for a reason...it never misses. There are a few things I consider completely non-negotiable, and the surf and turf roll is one of them. It's just that good! And if you love yellowtail sashimi, theirs is consistently fresh, delicate, and beautifully done. I always add extra jalapeño's, but do you. We went as a group of five and shared a bit of everything (the only way to do it, in my opinion), and there were so many standouts. The pumpkin tempura was unexpectedly addictive, and the scallops we had prepared two different ways, were absolute perfection... the kind that just melt the second they hit your palate. What really makes this place special, though, is the full experience. The service is warm and polished without ever feeling overdone, the cocktails are crafted just right, and the outdoor seating has that relaxed Malibu charm. Their Happy Hour deals are served until 5pm and are a great value. You can get a sushi combo or a sashimi combo or a 3 hand roll combo for $18. There are also some deals on bowls, beer, and wine. The deals ARE eligible for takeout which is nice. I opted for the sushi combination, which came with 5 pieces of nigiri (albacore, yellowtail, shrimp, tuna, salmon) and a choice of either a California roll or spicy tuna. I got the spicy tuna. It was a great amount of food and the sushi was wonderful. The size of the nigiri was generous without being cumbersome to eat. The ratio of rice to fish was on the lower end as well. I was a little bummed they didn't include ginger in the box but they did give soy sauce and chopsticks. -1* because it took much longer than quoted for my order and because the packaging was cracked and so when I tried to use the top as a "bowl" for soy sauce it leaked and got all over my countertop. Nonetheless, I would definitely go back and would order the same thing. Highly recommend it for sushi in Malibu at prices almost unreal.

You can really taste the quality of the fish, and everything came out clean, well presented, and just really satisfying. Now I have to talk about the mango sticky rice because that completely surprised me. It was honestly amazing. Perfectly sweet without being too much, the mango was fresh and juicy, and the rice had that warm, creamy texture that just hits. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole meal, which I did not expect walking into a sushi place. I will say it is a little on the pricey side, but at the same time you can tell you are paying for quality and location. What could be better than a crisply fried piece of cod with delicious fries overlooking the ocean? They do a better job frying fish than much more expensive places (looking at you Santa Monica seafood restaurant). The coleslaw is always fresh, and we also love the creamy chowder, chock full of clam bits. My one note is that they do not season their food so you need to add salt and pepper to everything. The coleslaw benefits from salt and a squeeze of lemon or a few drops of the malt vinegar on the table (also good with the fries of course). I'm not sure why they don't season their fish or batter - but maybe they figure it's best to keep it unsalted and people can add seasoning? There is also hot sauce on the table which adds the perfect zing to the chowder. The people who run the place are friendly and the place is especially popular on weekends. I'd recommend coming midweek either before or after peak lunch hours. Highly recommend.

The rice was cold, packed too tightly, and tough, which really hurts the overall experience. Maybe this works if you like heavily dressed rolls, but it is not what I would call great sushi, especially by California standards. The wait was also frustrating, not just because it was long, but because of how poorly it seemed to be managed. It felt like regulars could walk up, say the right thing, and get seated while everyone else just stood around waiting. That kind of thing makes the experience feel pretty lousy. The restaurant itself is packed, loud, and cramped. The tables are tiny, and there are not many of them, so it is hardly a pleasant dinner experience. To me, this place feels more driven by hype, social media, and people following the crowd than by truly excellent sushi. I wanted to like it, but based on this visit, I would not go back.

I choose outside, and he tells me he'll bring a menu. Ten minutes pass. No menu. He never returns. Another employee - a woman with a long braid - is darting in and out, clearly busy, but never once acknowledges me or says hello. I eventually go inside to request a menu. The same young man asks if I'd like water; I say yes. The water never arrives. The woman with the long braid continues going in and out of the very small shop another five or six times. I'm seated directly outside the door, yet I'm completely ignored. A third employee appears, and it's clear there's confusion about who is doing what. Still, no one takes responsibility. I have to ask - again - if my order will be taken and also request water once more. At this point, I ask the young man directly whether I should just leave and go somewhere else, because it's obvious their operations aren't dialed in. I'm hungry and already know what I want: the blue crab roll and the Mexicali roll. The food comes out fairly quickly, and while it is fine and did what it needed to do, nothing ruins a meal faster than inattentive service. No one checks in to see if I need anything. At one point, the third employee mumbles a quick apology and mentions they want to close the shop door. I won't be coming back. The overall service communicated a clear lack of care, and what they managed to do exceptionally well was leave me with the impression that I didn't matter at all.
