WRONG DAY !! I went in on a Tuesday , and its like a totally different world from what all the others posts are describing!!! I wanted a STEAK since its a "Steakhouse" ... but found out I was hungry on the wrong day. They only serve steaks on Thursdays and Saturdays. I was offered a bar menu and had a Burger ... mehh .. nothing special to write home about. I got a soda .. and it was ALL ICE !! by the time i took all the ice out the soda was flat .. and there was barely 1/3 a cup . Why would anyone want a watered-down soda ??? This place should just shut down the rest of the week ... ADVISE ... Pretty classic neighborhood bar, full of locals. Great value limited menu, tonight was "surf and turf". 6 oz steak grilled to my MR with shrimp Alfredo. Great bar, fully stocked with cold cold beer. BIG PLUS: smoke-friendly patio! The only blah is that the place was short-staffed. The bartender was not only cocktail waiting, he was dinner waiting, as well! The cook served. A friend of mine heard of this place so we decided to try it simply because of the all-you-can-eat fish fry. They also had karaoke that night. I got there a bit earlier than my friends so decided to grab some table as we had about 12 people coming. The waitresses and bartender were super helpful. Most of us had the fish which was fantastic!! Very fresh and delicious. Karaoke was a blast!! The crowd really participates and the regulars are a hoot. Especially Lewk who is a born entertainer. Have went to Nevada Smith over a handful of times and have always been very pleased with our experience of the food & service, however last night me & my boyfriend went for dinner and we were really looking forward to the filet mignon. We ordered 2 of the Saturday specials (10oz filet mignon medium rare but when our order came out they were both very well done, burnt on top, chewy & couldn't even cut. We notified the waitress and she said no problem we will fire you up 2 new ones. Then she came back to our table & asked for us to put the ones we had on a plate and she took them. Then the bartender Mo brought that same plate back to our table & said sorry this is what your ordered and we aren't going to remake anything, I said that is not what we order, those are well done and she said no they are medium, they have some pink in the middle. It's very dark in there and the cuts were cooked well, I again said we wanted medium rare & she continued to say sorry I can't replace these and gave us that plate back after the waitress had already said she would replace them. Very poor customer service, they filets were terrible. I tried to eat half of mine but it was so unpleasant & my boyfriend didn't eat any of his. We never got any refills on our drinks, the whole dinner we were never were checked on & my boyfriend had to go to the patio to find the waitress to get our check. The baked potato & veggies were good as well as salad but that's not what we went for. In fast food establishments I have received better customer service. We were so disappointed and were obviously still hungry we went to another restaurant to eat! We had previously loved Nevada Smith, in fact in October my boyfriend had his son's birthday dinner there but I am a strong believer in customer service and that lacks at Nevada Smith. The definition of a dive bar, but I mean that in a good way. My friends and I usually go on Sunday for the $.50 taco bar and can easily kill three or four hours just playing pool and listening to the jukebox. Prices are right, bartenders are friendly, and the place is always clean. read more

i read the two reviews on this place before we went to nevada smith's. my sister-in-law was having a going away get together with her coworkers at her old job before she moved on to her new job. supposedly, this is their "regular" hangout on a saturday night. kind of strange, in my opinion. all i could keep thinking about before we arrived there was the review saying the locals don't take their beady little eyes off of you. that was quite true. you could definitely tell the regulars apart from the rest. there isn't any air conditioning, and it did get pretty warm. they had karaoke this night. the regulars are really good! (probably because they're in there practicing every week). it was a fun place and luckily didn't get rowdy or anything. don't know if i'd go back unless my sister-in-law was having some kind of shin-dig here again. read more

If you want a great meal for a reasonable price come by Thursdays for steak, Friday for fish & chips, Saturday for beef or ribs specials. Other nights is everything from burgers to the chef's special. It's a bar of the old style, the waitress's are great and after your first visit, you're a regular. The owner is personable and knows almost everyone there. If you have any personality at all, you'll enjoy yourself. The chef is talented and friendly. My whole family enjoys eating there and listening to live music on Thursdays & Fridays played by Tony & Sid. Come on by. But if you are like a couple of the other reviewers that probably bitch about leaving a nickel tip and complain about air conditioning, stay at home eating microwave dinners and let your TV be your social buddy. We just walked out of this place on a Friday night at 7, sat for 15 minutes waiting for a waitress. She never came. Wasn't even busy.

Had a the special steak sliders and fries it was the worst tasting food I have had in my life fries were stale like the oil had not been changed in some time....bar tender said they change the oil every week I about vomited in my mouth....im a chef and we change the oil everyday....hope they change their oil sooner than that people could get sick.....nice little place too but such a disappointment ....guess its not the best little dive bar in tucson.... read more

Last night my wife and I decided to try your steaks for a dinner, We had been there a few months back for the Friday fish fry which was great. The salad bar, was small but all the options were fresh and crispy - tasted good. We both ordered Ribeye's 1 med rare, 1 medium. The first thing my wife said when they were delivered was "love the char" and the smell was fantastic. Beans and potato were great. But...when you can only get 1 or 2 bites from the steak, well the rest goes out the window. For the price you ask, I didn't expect the very best, but I did think I could at least chew and enjoy what looked like a good piece of meat. I know I won't be able to get the wife back again, but I will usually give everyone a second chance. One other thing, we ate out on the back porch, the table was so sticky, the napkins stuck to it!. My fiance and I went last night for steak night (Every Thursday) for the first time because we were meeting some friends, and it was ah-mazing! I had a huge Ribeye, baked potato, beans and salad bar. Definitely a laid back, dive bar atmosphere with great service and friendly staff. We will DEFINITELY be going back! If you want an inexpensive, juicy steak, this is the place to go. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment on Friday 11/10/17. I was in town from Yuma, Az basically for a blind internet date. Yep 250 mile drive for a date! Anyway I found this place online and decided it sounded right up my alley. I will start with the negative 1st: The only negative it was Fri and I kinda wanted Steak but basically there menu is on a nightly basis ie...Fri was all you can eat fish and each day of the week is something different with Tue being Steak night. Yep that's all the negative I have for the place! My date had the fish & I decided on steak fingers. When we got there the place was very busy but within 5 min of sitting down we were approached for drinks which we ordered & served right away. By that time our food waitress came to our table and we placed our order thinking as busy as it was it would probably be a 30 min wait to get our food. OMG our food arrived at our table in less than 10min....not only was it fast, it was fresh, hot, and delicious! After dinner we decided to stay for the Karaoke. I have had my own Karaoke business in Yuma for over 10yrs which makes me quite picky about sound quality etc... Once again pleasantly surprised Great hostess, great sound and had a great time with all the friendly regulars of the bar. All in all we about closed the place down and unfortunately I'm pretty bad @ remembering names but I can say the entire staff & mgmt. was awesome and the same goes to the Karaoke people they have!!! Great bartenders, GREAT!! It's a dive, but it has what ya need: strong drinks, cheap good food, juke box, pool, darts, etc. Friday nights they have oysters on the half shell, a dozen shucked for $5, freshly flown in. That alone is amazing. Steak nights, free chili dog Sunday, and the rest of the menu. A lot of locals, but they have all been extremely friendly. Give it a shot, and enjoy yourself. read more

Just ate here for the first time. Chose the 20oz boneless ribeye was FANTASTIC. Specials every night of the week. Thursday night is Steak Night. The ribeye was a mere $17. Friday fish fry was a success! This little "dive bar" was a great place to go after work on a Friday night after work. Waitress and bartender were attentive, welcoming, and very personable. Melissa was the bartender and Amber the waitress. Their service was great. We have been looking for a good Midwest type fish fry and this is the closest that we have come..the pollack was coated in panko style bread crumbs, the coleslaw was creamy with coarse cut cabbage, and the French fries were shoestring style. All were hot and tasty and were prepared and served in minutes after ordering...we also ordered oysters on the half shell which were freshly shucked and served with an extra basket for the empty shells. Amazingly, the fish fry was all you can eat for $6! The oysters were $10 or $13....can't remember. We each had two cocktails along with dinner. It was a good meal and relaxing atmosphere...and the music they played was a good variety from country, 70's 80's and 90's rock. Nevada Smith's is a neighborhood bar and that's a fact. But the owner has hit a gold mine with it's high quality, low priced food. I was a bit nervous when I went the first time because of the location, and it's a bar. I went for Prime Rib. If you are looking for high class, bow tie atmosphere you won't find it. This is a little jewel few people but the regulars know about. You'll see retired folks in polo shirts, snow birds in button down shirts, cowboys and a few who looked like they slept in a cardboard box but everyone is real, everyone is friendly and yes, there is a back covered patio with portable heaters for winter and fans and coolers for summer. But let's talk about the mesquite grilled steak. Daryl the owner has something going every night but Thur is steak night. Last night I had a grilled Porterhouse, my wife a New York Strip with baked potato, salad bar and roll. For $12 each. With a small pitcher of beer and a couple mixed drinks I brought half our dinners home for under $40. 2nd Saturday of each month is Prime Rib night. Center cut that is about 1 1/2 to 2" thick and hangs over your plate. Daryl gets them special from a meat plant in Canada. You get a salad bar, Prime Rib the way you like it, beans, baked potato and a roll for $12. I'm 5'8", weigh 190 with a hearty appetite and I have yet, in three years, been able to finish the meal. And it's cooked to perfection. I've had Prime Rib at a number of local 'steak' houses. No one comes even close to Nevada Smiths. If you want a great meal that you don't have to borrow money to enjoy all I can say, try it. It ain't the Ritz but it is colorful and you can't beat the food. And the waitresses have been for years because they are attractive, friendly and work hard at making everyone a friend. I've also eaten at Shula's, Ruth Chris's and ST. Elmo's in Indianapolis where a steak dinner will cost you about $100 and everything is ala carte and none serves a better steak or Prime Rib than Nevada Smith's, but the servers are not as friendly either. read more
