Hops in my latte?!! I can't even quantify that level of awesome! LOVE. IT. Surprisingly enough, in all my Google'ing of "best coffee in Portland", Never ummm, well, *never* came up. But there we were, sipping some beverages at Belmont Station a couple blocks away, and when I finished my beer while The Dude was still shopping for bottles, Never popped up as walking distance when I looked up "best coffee near me"... thank ya kindly, Googs! Oh so very much! I would have been completely content with just a passably good espresso beverage, after such a pleasant stroll through the streets lined with beautifully landscaped, adorable Craftsman homes (my favorite!), but what I actually had was SO much better than that! House-roasted beans and a selection of the most creative (and delicious!) lattes I've ever seen. Ingredients like hops, local salt, and dulce de leche (in The Oregon), orange blossom water, rose water, honey, cardamom, saffron, turmeric, fennel, anise....and on and on.... all work together beautifully. I ended up coming back for a second round, and bringing some beans home as well. Hands down THE BEST coffee of my vacation, and I will *definitely* be back! read more

Great branding and aesthetic. Bad coffee and service. Have been here 3 times now. The drinks are simply...bad. If you get any sort of mocha, latte, or chai latte, expect it to be all milk and have barely any taste. The barista's are not friendly. I get it, I've been a cashier and server, and will have a period of low energy , but their energy was simply unwelcoming. Unfortunately, I don't think this place is going anywhere soon because their aesthetic is so cute that people notice the storefront and want to grab a coffee here. The parking is non-existent except by good karma, but the coffee and service are exceptional. Seating is outdoors, most comfortable in your own vehicle. Highly recommended for two or more people, so one can drive around the block a couple of times, rather than park. read more

This is not a place if you want to come and relax and hang out over a cup of coffee. It's a place to come and grab a cup to go or to wait until you can get seated at Slappy Cakes across the street. It used to be half of a piano store but you wouldn't know it by the size. It's small, like uncomfortably small, like so small I wanted to bring my cup of coffee into the bathroom just to have some room. Seriously the bathroom is half as big as the whole sitting area outside. The staff is friendly and the coffee is really good. However, since I like to sit and chill with my coffee and my man and don't live in the neighborhood, I will most likely never be back. read more

Last month on a road trip from Colorado to Oregon my wife and I stopped at Never Coffee after hearing good reviews online! We walked around the area for a bit and decided to go get a coffee from here. We walked in and immediately loved the interior design and how friendly the person working was! I got an iced vanilla latte and it was great! We couldn't stay long since they were closing about 30 minutes after we got there, but I definitely recommend going to visit Never Coffee, it was a lovely experience and we loved seeing the trees from inside! If I had encountered this person outside of a cafe setting I would have left feeling like they were not a nice human being. The price for the speciality lattes at Never Coffee is a bit steep - 12oz for $6. I like the novelty of the different flavors and that they make their syrups in house, but it's a try once type of thing for me. The seasonal drink, Winter Wonderland, with juniper, 70% dark cocoa, cocoa nibs and peppermint was tasty for sure. I've also tried the Rich Kid - saffron, cardamom, and rose water. I loved the delicate flavors and how lightly sweetened it was... But I guess for $6 I would have expected to have become instantly addicted! On the other hand, Never Coffee has regular drip coffee and espresso drinks which I would drop in for. The pasty case also looks amazing. I'm happy to see another coffee shop in the area, but it's a tiny space with maybe 6 seats. I do hope they make it by with mostly drop-in customers, since it's close and open early! read more

Most of the employees are also very kind, I haven't experienced any snobby or hipster-Portland attitude here. Portland has a lot of great coffee and Never is definitely in the top few. They have interesting drinks that I've never heard or seen before with flavors from plants (rose and I think one that had anise in it?). Great coffee, cool place. Ordered the Holy Grail, which is a turmeric ginger latte and it was pretty good. Smooth flavor and blended nicely, however the drink could've been served a few degrees hotter. They have a variety of different kinds of milk alternatives, however if you are dairy tolerant, they only offer whole milk as their dairy option. Wasn't too busy for a 11am on a Saturday, however the service was a bit slow. Nice place to stop in for a quick tasty jolt. read more

Hands down. The best. I've ever had in the PDX!!! beat any Seattle/Portland coffee I tried while in the northwest of the US. Omgggg. So while they do have fantastic coffee, the highlight here is their specialty lattes. You can't go wrong. I had the Oregon and the Rich Kid. If you can, order all of them. $6 each, and soooo worth it. The place is tiny, and the baristas knowledgeable. They let dogs inside (huge bonus). Across the street from slappy cakes if you happen to be waiting for a table on the weekend which may take an hour at least. I will DREAM of the next time I'm able to come back and have another latte!!! read more

I've only visited maybe 4 times in the past few years, and everytime I do I remember why I don't go here! Even drip coffee is super pricey, and I'm sure their lattes are wonderful, but not $6 wonderful - maybe if I could keep the mug? no? fine.
