I only write reviews on two occasions: when I've had exceptionally great service and when I've had exceptionally bad service. PLEASE STAY AWAY from this place!!!!! They are beyond horrible. The person who works here, Joanna is RUDE and unwelcoming. I came here to get a hem in my pants leg because they were too long. Once the work was finished, one pant leg was about 2 inches shorter than the other. HOW DOES THAT GO UNNOTICED?! After trying to get a refund for over a week, I'm still unsuccessful. I've been getting the run around since day one. Joanna (a rude worker there) seemed to not care either way. She stated I had to take this up with the manager and claimed she couldn't give me her name. All she could tell me was her manager is a "female". That's it!! Nothing more.... Then stated that many businesses don't give out their managers name. This is/was completely BS!! Especially since I called the very next day and the worker I spoke with gladly gave me the managers name and helped me as much as she could. As mentioned before, I still have no luck in speaking to this manager about my refund. She's never in the office!!!! Please head the warnings that everyone wrote and DO NOT bring your business to this place. I wish I would have read these reviews before I walked into this dry cleaners. DON'T go here. They deserve every single one star rating they've received. Their alterations were terrible - they hemmed a simple pair of pants and the pant legs were off by over an inch. Then they gave us the run around trying to get a refund. The woman behind the counter couldn't tell us when the manager was working and then refused to tell us the manager's name. Incompetent. Rude. If it were possible to give this place negative zero stars, i would. I stopped going there after a while because the service was so bad, but it was a mistake to give them another go. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. The gist: I asked for heavy starch on two shirts, and they were not heavily starched. I asked for my money back. The front desk worker -- short, heavy set, rude, you can't miss her -- offered to send it back. I said "no", I just wanted my shirts. She refused to give me my shirts back, refused to have the manager contact me, and I called 3x and stopped by 2x over the course of a month to speak to someone. A manager was never there/available. Today, I paid the outstanding balance of $3.50 -- I was told by this same front desk worker she could not give refunds or release my shirts without payment, despite a 50% deposit -- and vowed never EVER to give them my money again. The front desk worker is beyond incompetent, the business is obviously poor run, and they are essentially holding people's clothing and money for ransom! It's insane! It's such a shame too, because I want to support Black owned businesses whenever possible, but the service on all fronts is atrocious. While I was there, a man was complaining that the cleaners lost $63 worth of overcoats and couldn't find them. He is planning to report them to BBB, and I will probably do the same. I took my tall white pants here because the string came out of the hem on the right leg and in the past they had done a job on my clothes. However this time I was overcharged to repair this simple task of resewing. Then I look closely at my white pants and there is no crease as I requested and they are still wrinkled so basically a waste of money. They are slow, ineffectual, they lose your items, their prices are unfair, the tailor is useless - he gets your measurements wrong, then tries to charge you again when you take your stuff back there to demand why it is the wrong size. Horrible service , and it is very true they will charge you more money then they have initially agreed upon in there recipet the tailor has no experience what so ever and the staff including the manager doesn't know how to be professional and do the right thing either we have tried to give them business 3 times just thinking of supporting the neighboorhood but at the end we paid more money each time for our dry cleaning each time they had an excuse and even lied about calling us to get our approval on go ahead for the extra money they have charged we have decied not to go back to them ever again and let others know as well read more

The very first time I went to new Alpha drycleaners, theytore off one of the buttons of my shirt. When I got the shirt home I noticed. And, I brought it back to the store the next day to tell them about it and it still have the tag on the shirt. They tried to tell me that the button was already broken when I brought it in, which it wasn't. Then, they tried to tell me that their policy says that they are not responsible for buttons, which it doesn't. And, they refused to fix it. It seems silly to lose a customer over a button. Before Grace Cleaners opened, I sent my laundry to this place as there weren't other options in the neighborhood. Their hours were unreliable - on several occasions I'd carry my laundry over there 15 minutes after they were supposed to be open and I'd find a closed shop. I'd schedule pickups or deliveries and the person would arrive 2 hours later or not at all. Twice they returned items to me with new stains and refused to take responsibility for them. The young woman who worked on the weekends was sometimes friendly but very moody however the woman who worked the weekdays was an absolute nightmare. Don't waste your time here. read more

The cleaning seems to be fine, but the service built around it? Not so much. If I wasn't told that my garment was lost because its slip was missing, I was getting weird reactions out of the attendant on duty because she thought she could close down well before the posted close of business. I just know she said something arrogant under her breath. News flash, you close at 7, not 6:58. be prepared to serve customers until then. Then here come the limits on debit & credit purchase amounts. This is just recent. I can't even recall the previous incompetence I experienced. One star for this place is too much ! The lady there has a disgusting attitude and she is very racist ! I paid for 2 dresses to get them hemmed and when I arrive home they didn't even touch Them . So I go back and she has the nerve to tell me it's ur fault all ur clothes are damn long u F"" Muslim .... Smh but they are very unprofessional . And what does religion have to do with this ? In wish i could put negative stars, I tried to get a calvin klein suit clean and when i went to pick it up there was a huge stain on my pants leg that was never there before.I ask for the manger to call me and I received no phone call and had to pick it up. the don't seem to care at all about the service they provide and it was not the first time they could not properly clean my clothing leading me to believe they just steam them and give the clothing back. read more

I would give them no stars if I could. Do not go to this place. Their customer service is horrible, evidenced by the fact that it is always a ghost town in there. I took a jacket there for a zipper repair. I was told that it only needed a new pull and it was $7. Great. I took it home, and the next day the zipper ran. I took it back, was told that it was fixed, and the next time I wore it the zipper ran again. I took it back, yet again reminding them that this was kind of ridiculous. They fixed it by allegedly replacing the whole zipper and then telling me I owed them $27! They unilaterally decided to take steps I did not authorize, then demanded that I pay their price! After speaking to a manager, I paid the difference in price. By this time, I had basically missed ALL of the winter season, since I do not live very close to this place but tried to support a minority owned business. I then wore my jacket the first cold day of this year and the zipper again ran, in the exact same spot. Keep in mind, I paid to have the entire zipper replaced. When I contacted New Alpha, I was very rudely told that it had been too long and I was basically SOL. When I asked to speak to a manager, I left my number and my call was not returned. I've been using New Alpha since I moved to Harlem a year ago. It's a friendly, neighborhood place that has done a great job on everything I've sent there. I request laundry or dry cleaning pick-up weekly and with the exception of one time, they have always picked up from my doorman within a few hours. What I like best is that the New Alpha employes call me when they have a question about what I've sent -- Starch? Launder or dry clean? This has been a life saver since I just throw my stuff in a bag and rarely have time to write notes. Recently a friend mistakenly dropped off my dry cleaning at a nearby competitor and my friend forgot to tell them it was dry cleaning, not laundry. Despite the fact that the bag was full of men's dress shirts and pants and a couple of my favorite sweaters and shirts, the other place threw everything in the washer and dryer. When I got it back, everything was wrinkled and a few items shrunk. I called New Alpha in a panic and they picked everything up and pressed it so it was wearable. Personalized service by people who care about their work is a winning combination for me. read more
