You sit down and order with someone, and they'll bring the food to you. You don't get a bill/receipt - you go up to the cashier to pay for the meal when you're done. It's a pretty local spot so this method can be quite confusing for first timers haha. But if you're craving actual Fuzhou food, it's a pretty good spot for those dishes. You do have the usual peanut butter noodles and dumplings but the entrees were what I came for! Razor clam eggs: ok wow this one was realllly good. The eggs are fluffy and I think they used a good amount of wine/shaoxing to get that flavor on the eggs. Good amount of razor clams and they also include Taishan cauliflower yummy. Would definitely get this again Fuzhou style spare ribs: it's a bit like sweet and sour ribs but not as pronounced or sour, and with loads of deep fried taro too. I've been coming here for years, but finally tried something besides the breakfasts and the snacks. I had the Fuzhou Style Spare Ribs which comes with taro chunks. The sweet and sour ribs were great, but the taro chunks were the star of the dish. They were tasty and an interesting gelatinous texture which really enhanced the taste. Not what I was expecting with a taro chunk, but it resulted in a fantastic combination. I also had the razor clam omelet which was good, but the ribs were definitely the hit of the meal. read more

My first time with Fujian/fuzhou cuisine. The restaurant is very simple, no frills and as homestyle as it gets. Dishes are served with disposable share plates and soup bowls. Sriracha (no chilli oil), vinegars and condiments are featured on the tables along with disposable soup ladles. The food arrives quickly, in very generous portions and even soup is enough to split among 3 people. Our group ordered a wonton soup, peanut noodles, water spinach w preserved bean curd, meifun w/ pork and vegetables and egg with razor clams. The egg dish was probably my favorite. It was basically a large egg omelette with generous helping of tender and sweet razor clams and cauliflower. The water spinach dish had some chrysanthemum greens although I wasn't sure if that was deliberate. Either way, the tangle of greens was delicious. The meifun was light and a perfectly cooked dish full of thinly sliced Napa cabbage and pork. Not greasy and perfectly seasoned. Actually, none of these dishes were oily. The peanut egg noodles were our least favorite. Not to say it wasn't good, just overshadowed by the other dishes. The wontons were light and delicate and broth was warm and comforting. I stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for a place that sold water spinach. They don't have the prices for some of the items on their menu and I had only $8 in cash and a dream. Their small size of the water spinach was $8.50 but they let me have it anyway even though I was short. I thought it was really nice of them and and so I came back a week later to pay them back and try other food from there. I really love their sauteed water spinach and and their melon clams with noodle. Their clams are so tasty and plump. Their lychee pork was decent but not as great as the other dishes. I also tried their peanut butter noodles (not pictured) and it was simple but delicious. This is a solid spot for Fujianese food with a good amount of customers but still have plenty of tables available. I highly recommend visiting! read more

This place was new so I gave it a try. The ambiance was okay for its size. I was surprised however that the place was spacious in the inside. Service was average for Chinatown. Okay now let's get to the food! Honestly the food was very average compared to any other place I've been too in Chinatown. The rabbit soup was the thing that I tried out because I never had rabbit before in my life. It was not my taste. The pork noodle was pretty salty with the pork fat. For the price I would have gone somewhere else. This place however could be an acquire taste. It seems like it has a place in the market. I just felt that the pork noodles and veggie noodles could have been better. One was very bland while the other was extremely salty. I'm just doing the rating base on food from other places I've been to locally. If you enjoy some simple dish either very bland or super salty, then this would be one of the places to go. Very authentic FJ restaurant! Honestly if you don't speak Fuzhonese, just point or say the number you want. Dishes taste great and are always served on plastic plates (not environmentally friendly but less cleaning and less water being used) and utensils are already on the table. I have gone here a few times and tried a soup with noodles, the noodles with peanut sauce, a noddle with claims (def rec to share or if if u like clams are at hungry), and an FJ wonton soup. Usually it doesn't take very long for the food to come. I haven't had the opportunity to try the FZ noodles or items 1-3 on the menu due to it being for breakfast. This restaurant is very local so it is locals coming to grab a bite or come bc with their families. They have at least 7 tables but during busy eating times it does get pretty crowded. It is definitely not a fancy, upscale place but the food and service is great and reasonable for what you pay. read more

No frills, cheap Fuzhou eats restaurant. You sit down and order and the food comes out in less than 5 minutes (breakfast time at least). We got the fried taro cake, fried dough sticks, two (2) bowls of guo bian (fuzhou seafood noodles), and a bowl of bian rou (fuzhou wontons) all for less than $15! The guo bian was the most authentic I've ever had; the clam flavor was present, which a lot of other restaurants miss. Make sure you dip your dough sticks op-The bian rou here definitely has a unique filling. However, the fried taro cake did not have much taro flavor or texture (I feel like many places also make it like this). First time trying fujianese cuisine and I was pretty impressed. Their indoor seating space is decently ample and decor is no frills yet gave off a bright and comfortable feeling. Overall their appearance is clean and simple. Their fish filet over rice came highly recommended by some friends so we got two to share and ordered the razer chow mai fun (white vermicelli noodles) along with an order of bian rou or guo bian. Everything had great flavor especially their fish fillet which had a really nice crisp to it and the sauce was succulent. Found this gem Friday night when I really wanted to try the 4 dish and a soup place next door because it was closed. Came here at 8pm on a Friday night and there were no other customers besides my friend and I, just some togo orders being made. This is a cash only joint which is not surprising in Chinatown. Wanting to eat gluten free, I got a stir fried rice noodles which was recommended by the manager saying it's one of their super popular dishes. No wonder, because it was surprisingly delicious! My friend got a large wonton soup, where the wontons were so thin and didn't have much fillings but the broth was superb. At $3 a bowl, we couldn't really complain. I also wanted to try a stewed meat and chose the pork ribs, which were a bit dry but again the broth was delicious. Beers are $2 each which means it's the best happy hour deal all day. Came here for dinner with the Chow with Shao experience! Find her on Instagram for the next foodie adventure. We had an authentic experience of Fujian cuisine. Where we were able to share all of the favorite dishes usually ordered by locals in the neighborhood while listening to Chow with Shao tell us about each dish. We started with the spare ribs and taro which had great sauce however the taro was sour and so the employees were able to quickly accommodate and take the dish away. Even so the taro pieces had a nice coating. We then moved on to the soup which was savory and sour. Followed by jumping shrimp and snails. The snails are a definite highlight as they were doused in sauce and a treat to order. We then ordered a variety of different types of noodle dishes, my favorite was the fish noodles and rice cake both are must try. We also had a variety of duck and pork all which are served with a mix of vegetables and bamboo shoots. This place also has unique dishes such as blood intestines, gizzards and innards which are a favorite in the culture and definitely possibly a fear factor must try dish for those who aren't used to it. For those who aren't use to it, it's cooked so well with great flavor that if you would love them too! We ended with dessert which were glutinous balls with either sweet peanuts and sauce inside or savory meat inside. One of the sweet glutinous balls has a distinct bubblegum smell to it which isn't for everyone but the texture was unique and yummy that we ordered another bowl! for rice dishes I recommend: lychee pork over rice. the sauce is slightly sweet. the spare ribs over rice is also delish. my holy trinity is: noodles with peanut sauce, boiled dumplings, and wonton soup. fuzhou wontons are different from the traditional wontons. it is with thinner wrapping and have less meat. that is just how it is and I love it. the broth is so good, I always add extra vinegar. I always recommend fish ball soup, which has pork meat inside. for people who are willing to try something new that many Fujianese people enjoy, try fuzhou noodles (pronounced Bian Rou or Bian nu?). This is my favorite spot in the whole wild world. I started coming here in high school with my friends and then routinely for the five years that followed after that. I go to school in Boston but I make sure that when I come back home this place is the first visit on my list and I spend much of my time away missing the food here too. The food here is amazing and it's something I don't think I could get ever get tired of. I've brought friends, new and old, and family here and it seriously never disappoints. If it's your first time I recommended Chow Mei Fun (I believe it's 136 or 137 on the menu). It's a yummy Angel Hair-like fried rice noodle with delicious vegetables, egg, and pork (but I usually go without the pork and it's still an amazing and vegetarian option). The Chow Fun Gan is also a crowd pleaser here if you prefer thicker noodles. This is a sit down spot that makes you feel taken care of and that if you frequent enough it'll start to feel like a second home, at least that's what it did for me. read more
