New Asia sure came through for us. My Hot and Sour Soup ($3.50) was very good. It was a meatless version, but what made it distinctive was the very large serving of sliced cooked mushrooms that were in it. Combined with the zippy broth, it was a very good version of my favorite soup. My wife's Wonton Soup ($3.25) came with 4 good sized wontons wrapped with a medium thick dough and a tasty filling. Staying with the traditional themes, we split Combination Dinner C-16, the old reliable Chicken and Broccoli ($10.50). The chicken was fantastic -super tender slices and plenty of it. The broccoli was tender and delicious as well. And the Pork Fried Rice was a generous serving with plenty of meat. The only downer was the small, flaccid, cabbage heavy egg roll. This is literally the best Chinese food in Connecticut, and I am from New Haven, and have lived in NYC, so I am very picky with my takeout. I love Chinese American food and this place is the tastiest. I also love my tofu well done, and it's so hard to find a place that makes it this way when asked. They go above and beyond and I literally eat here once a week or more. They work very hard, have a very clean kitchen and restaurant and the food is absolutely delicious. they are just the best Chinese food takeout and the service is always great, they care about the food and service and do a great job. Really. I am so picky with my Chinese food because I lived in NYC and New Haven for so long (have amazing Chinese takeout) and prefer vegan food when available (they have so many options! My favorite dish is their roast pork lo mein. I order this as "extra spicy" and it's so delicious. I also am obsessed with their wonton soup. The outside of the restaurant itself is new and shinyoh, and the interior of the restaurant is also very clean and bright. this is not a place you're going to want to bring the family in 2 for a formal meal because the seating is very limited, but this is a place where you are going to want to keep ordering your Chinese food from because the prices are so low and the food is incredibly delicious I ordered it to lunch specials. General Tso's chicken and an order of chicken and broccoli. We ordered wonton soup and egg drop soup to go with it. There are some great deals in special prices if you get the menu for this restaurant. my chicken and broccoli was the most delicious chicken and broccoli I ever remember having. Ever. I was hesitant to try a new take out place as I'm a loyal Black Bamboo fan. I'm glad I gave New Asia a try because the food was fresh and "healthy". I ordered wings, chicken fried rice, Hunah chicken and an egg roll. Initially when I saw the coloring of the rice I wanted to kick myself for giving a new place a try. The rice is lighter than the typical Chinese fried rice. I use very little salt in my cooking and was able to detect it after a few nibbles of the rice. I thought I wouldn't like it but it's nice that the rice had many different types of veggies. I would order again simply bc this is the healthiest tasting fried rice I have ever eaten. The Hunah chicken was so so. I don't know if it was worth $8 bc the container the food was packaged in was extremely shallow. The meat was fresh but sorta skimpy. The fried chicken was fried chicken. Nothing special. I did notice that it didn't stay crunchy long. After 15 mins of my order arriving my chicken lost it's crunch. I guess less chemicals? Four stars for being decent in the area. New Asia is located accross from Bank of America on New Britain Ave. This was a slightly different General Tso's Chicken than is typical in this area. Slightly crunchy but still moist, not much sauce. The Wonton soup had some different things in it, and the fried rice was light colored, not greasy with celery and carrots mixed in. A nice change from the standard greasy pork fried rice, two pieces of broccoli and sauce drenched chicken. I enjoyed this meal. The woman that took my order knew I was eating in, but served it to-go. I found that odd, but that just may be how they do things. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows on two sides, seating available, but primarily a take out restaurant. This is very unfortunate but I have to give a bad review to New Asia, when I first started coming here, the service and the food was very good and slowly it has been declining. First time I had an issue it was with some bad smelly shrimp that stunk up the rice it was in and I called them and all I was told was ok , after that I started noticing other things but I didn't complain . The lady with the glasses that work the register is very nice but unfortunately I came by this Friday and spent over $55 on take out food to go home and the food tasted awful , the Wonton soup was under cooked and the rice was very hard, and the general Sal chicken was very hard & dry and the egg rolls tasted like they where old and hard , i would've called them and complained once again but I felt it would fall on deaf ears. read more

Love New Asia! We've tried a few other places nearby that are a bit more expensive but New Asia is better. The 2 in 1 dinner plate is a great option and the sesame chicken is tasty! There are definitely some opportunities, like their crab Rangoon. I LOVE crab Rangoon but unfortunately don't order it here because it's always undercooked and makes the wonton wrapper impossible to chew (jaw workout). Flavoring is great though. Just had the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special and wow! It was so great, I ordered another one for dinner. The chicken was crispy and cooked to order, the rice was warm, and the veggies were fresh. I decided to switch up my delivery routine and ordered from New Asia tonight. Think this will be my new go-to for Chinese! Delivery was quick and the driver was friendly. Prices are also a little lower than other delivery places, at least for the things I usually order. The General Tso's has a bit of a different flavor than I'm used to, but I dig it. And they get an extra star for including more veggies than just the usual broccoli -- and for going light on the sauce. Definitely your standard selection of take-out food, but...I swear the guy on the other side of the phone is saying "thank you" with a genuine smile. Here's why I like this place: 1. They remember your phone number and address. They're designed to satisfy your take out craving fast without having to repeat yourself a million times. 2. Delivery is also fast and with a smile. I often call right after a run while stretching, take a shower, clean something quick, then they're here! It's like no time passes at all. The delivery guys are real nice. 3. This little Chinese restaurant is tucked away at the corner of a strip mall on New Britain Avenue right on the edge of Elmwood. It's more of a takeout place, though it does have tables and you could eat in if you wanted to. I stopped in with a vague recollection of having ordered takeout from there before and liking it. On this visit I ordered the shrimp with bean curd, vegetable fried rice, and two egg rolls (described as "crispy egg roll" on the menu). Service was speedy and I was handed a piping hot bag which I promptly took home. First up were the egg rolls. They were definitely "crispy" - perhaps a little more than I would have liked. The wrappers were warm to the touch, but not as hot as you would expect if they had just been pulled out of the fryer. I suspect they are cooked ahead of time, then reheated in the fryer (hence the extra dark color). They were okay, but I don't think I would order them again. There are plenty of other offerings on the menu to try, after all. Next I dished up the veggie fried rice. The color and flavor was quite good, though I was mildly amused to see what appeared to be frozen peas and carrots among the vegetables. I did like that they had not slathered the fried rice in soy sauce as so many restaurants do. The flavors were well balanced and quite tasty. Then I dished up the shrimp and bean curd (tofu). Most places use the firm bean curd, but I am a fan of the softer stuff, and I was very glad to see that was what they had used. It was soft and delicate as a custard, melting upon the tongue and providing a nice contrast to the firmer shrimp. Mmmmmm! Yes, I definitely like this. Perhaps this wasn't the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had - but it was solid. I'd like to go back and try some other dishes, and perhaps order off the menu to see what they can do. read more

Very, very good for a cheap takeout place. Had the General Tso's with pork fried rice combo, made well, and very cheap at $6.15 for lunch, which includes choice of a soup, soda, or egg roll. More than enough food and beverage for a hearty meal. And get this: the order taker was a nice young gentleman who spoke native English! Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "This is 'Murica, we speak Amuricanese here!" kinda people, but it's nice to know your order is getting across the lines of communication properly. One of the available Chinese Fast Food Places. Ordered General Tso's Chicken, and Pork Fried Rice (and extra Hot Chilli Oil). The pork fried rice is seasoned very lightly, including the color of it (which you can see on the many photos). The taste of fried rice and General Tso's was OK (hence the 3 stars). The rice was seasoned very little, and would have been nice to be stronger. The General Tso's was also extremely light in flavor, though it had adequate sweetness. In addition instead of providing hot oil, they just sent me packets of hot sauce. It happens, people who read the order sometimes just see "HOT" and they just provide the sauce packets - which I DO NOT LIKE AT ALL. I read the other reviews and thought that it would be fast delivery, but its about avg - took almost an hour from the time of order. I did call to check on order, and the person was very nice and respectful. I think service wise - would give atleast 4-5stars, but food was just ok. Got Chinese food from here a few nights ago. I wouldn't say it was bad but compared to Chinese food I've had in the past it wasn't good either. I grew up in Northern New Jersey about 20 minutes from manhatten and almost all the places there are better than this... The general tso's chicken was not that spicy and a little bit too crispy the eggroll although it had a decent amount of taste it was very crispy and dry and made it not enjoyable to eat. The rice well-being better than most of the places here that I have tried it still is not an equal comparison to what I am used to. I think I will only be getting Chinese food when I visit New Jersey. If anybody knows a Chinese place around the Hartford area that is similar to New York City or northern New Jersey please let me know! read more

I heard a lot of nice things about this restaurant but now that I've tried their food, I don't know how anyone could possibly think that. I think this is the worst Chinese food I think I've ever had. I ordered moo goo gai pan: processed chicken with very few vegetables in a thick gooey sauce I also ordered moo shoo chicken: I don't know how to describe this dish since it did not look or taste like normal moo shoo. Incredibly salty. I couldn't either one. I called them up and told them I would like to return their food and get my money back. This is my favorite Chinese take out in the area. I was on the fence between a 4 and a 5 star rating, but my most recent experience pushed it to a 5. The food is your typical Chinese food. Maybe atypical for the area, but this is exactly what I love in Chinese food. The General Tso's isn't overly saucy, its very crispy, and its not too sour. This is similar to what I ate in where I grew in in New Jersey (as well as college in Troy, NY). The egg rolls are very crispy and full of flavor. Maybe a bit on the salty side, but much better than the bland soggy cabbage tubes you get from other places. Other stuff -- beef & broccoli, lo mein, sesame chicken -- is equally good. I also like the portions. They give you a lot of meat, which is great if you have the will power to stop eating and save some for lunch the next day. As for me, it just means I get a much more intense food baby and food coma, which is nothing really to complain about.
