What a great spot in WeHa. First off easy parking and alittle of Main Street so easier accessibility- which I greatly appreciated. Inside is beautifully decorated, clean and staff was friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious, not everything was a home run - but not everything on a menu can be. The flavors were on point but a couple missteps in execution. But a solid 4-4.5. Our favorite dish was the seven flavor wontons. Wontons were super tender and flavors were on point. The spicy beef ramen was really good, but the broth was oily and too thin for our liking. We added some soy and asked for some hoisin - which made a big difference. Overall, We will definitely be back and try more menu items.

Song, as the sister restaurant of Shu on Shield Street, is amazing. The menu is more focused on noodles and "street or bar foods" like the scallion rolls and roujiamo, but executed with just as much impact and flavor as they do at Shu. I love this restaurant for a delicious carb-heavy lunch or dinner. On my first visit with my partner, we tried the twice cooked scallion pancake roll, twice cooked pork noodle (not pictured), ground pork noodle and a lamb roujiamo. We loved every single item, which brought that distinct sichuan heat to each dish. The texture of the noodles was also perfectly chewy. The scallion roll was also delicious, deeply flavorful and crispy but can be a bit greasy to some people. The service was also friendly and prompt, and it had a clean and relaxing dining area. Have come here for takeout other times and have never been disappointed, the dan dan mian is great too.

I've had this place bookmarked for a while, since I've been seeing great reviews about it. They're on LaSalle St. which is a busy road with a ton of restaurants and shops in West Hartford. We were able to find on-street metered parking nearby. We got there for lunch and was able to get a table outside. The service was quick and friendly. We started off with the crispy pork nuggets ($8) which were super crispy and delectable; it came with sweet hoison sauce and chili flakes for dipping. We also ordered steamed chicken soup dumplings ($9); this came with a sweet soy dipping sauce. I thought this was just okay, there wasn't much soup in it. Next time, I want to try out their chengdu dumplings ($9). We were hungry so we asked the waiter for recommendations and he said braised beef pancake roll ($11) and boy, that was a good recommendation. It was a flaky roll with beef and sweet hoison sauce. Now my main entree was the Dan Dan noodles ($8). They mixed it at the table for me; it had noodles, ground pork, spicy sauce, and baby bok choy. Wow, I can eat a gallon of that lol, 5 stars all the way for that. My husband had the Roujiamo Chinese burger and he said it was okay. Overall, the food was 4.5 stars and the service and ambiance was 5 stars, so I rounded it to 5 stars total. I look forward to going back and trying out some more menu items!

The only bad thing about this place is how easy it is to miss walking down Lasalle. We split: - avocado shrimp - steamed pork dumplings - pork and lamb roujiamos - beef lo mein Everything was full of flavor. The sauce on the avocado shrimp had an unexpected sweetness but it was such a nice touch. Both the lamb and pork roujiamo, like a Chinese burger, were so tender. I look forward to trying the other ones like chicken and vegetable options. I'm not a big fan of lo mein but the beef lo mein here is now something I look forward to getting in the future. The flavors were bold without being overbearing and there was plenty of tender beef mixed throughout. I loved that they had Shirley temples on the menu, I definitely got one to channel my inner child. The service was friendly but not too engaging. The inside is super laid back. I'll be back for sure, super soon!

Definitely a hidden gem here in WeHa! Skip all the restaurants on this trip and try Song! The staff is so nice here and always so sweet accommodating my toddler. We love their chengdu dumplings, Lo mein, scallion pancake rolls, and pan seared pork dumplings. It is so fun trying all the different menu items! We have a lot more to try and will be back for sure!

We came to this restaurant on a cold night where honestly it was the one that had no line to wait on and we got in quickly. The food was pretty simple in its flavors, not really outstanding in any way. The service was not the best as we were seated for about 15 minutes before someone came and asked if anybody else had taken our order yet. The food came out quick, and then we couldn't find the waitress again when we needed her. It's a small place without much decoration or intrigue to the setting it's in. I don't think I will be going back anytime soon, if at all.

Was craving some soup and decided to give this place a try. Located in West Hartford center. Street parking. Service we were greeted right away and seated. The server was very attentive abs friendly. Had a lot of small talk. I ordered the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Soup Dumplings and shrimp lo mein. All was good. The soup especially hit the spot for me. They only had wine and beer I believe, as they do not have a liquor license. Will def be back when in town.

Song is run by the same people who own Shu Restaurant so I often think of their food as being the same, but actually Song has its own distinct specialties. I like their soup noodles and wontons. Sometimes the flavors can be a little too strong or too salty for my taste-- like the vegetable Chengdu dumplings can be super garlicky if you get too much sauce. The cold noodle sesame paste I ordered recently was over-seasoned. Otherwise, I order takeout from them pretty frequently. Food comes in sealed plastic containers that can be easily stored in the fridge.

One of our go-to spots for regional Chinese cuisine in the West Hartford area when we used to live within walking distance of Blue Back Square Cold jelly fish -- my absolute favorite appetizer of all time. I love how refreshing the jellyfish flesh is. The combo of cold crunch cucumber and fleshy jellyfish is addicting especially when marinated in a soy vinegar blend. It's the perfect summer treat! Chengdu wontons-- love the thin, slippery skins and the sweet and savory chili oil dipping sauce Gummy noodles-- we have to get this every time we visit!! We love the nutty, sweet, savory sauce that these noodles are coated with! Beef pancake roll-- still wish they packed it with more beef especially for the people who only get the ends. These go fast, so maybe order more than you think you'll want. The pancake wrapping is pan fried until the exterior is delightfully blistered Pork intestines w/ sweet potato noodle soup--for those who are a bit more adventurous, this soup packs a lot of funk from the intestines. The crispy soybean topping adds a nice crunch. Sausage fried rice-- a homey comfort that reminds me of childhood. Chinese sausage is akin to a denser, sweeter, jerky-like cured meatstick Cold sesame noodles-- a reliable consistent staple for those who like sesame paste Service is always fast and the restaurant is never too packed which makes for a peaceful space to relax and connect over your meal!

I'm writing this review with tears of pure joy as I will attempt to express my unadulterated happiness with this excellent establishment. The Queen & I opted to patronize Song restaurant due to my cravings for dumplings. Originally, I was planning to visit NYC ( Chinatown ), but thankfully we decided to go to West Hartford for the dumplings. The manager & the waitress were extremely cordial, while we decided on the vegetable & chicken dumplings. The manager brought the dumplings to our table & gently mixed the succulent dumplings with their special sweet & spicy garlic chili sauce. After my first bite of the veggie dumpling, I was immediately sold on this place. It was sweet & spicy, but too delicious!!! I must apologize, because the tears are coming, but I digress. We devoured the dumplings with limited conversation between us, that's how delicious the dumplings were!!! The crispy pork with the dry spicy seasoning & the sweet hoision sauce were absolutely awesome. Perfect combinations with the sauce & seasoning and let me not forget the cucumber salad, it was also a winner!!! Its very rare for me to give a restaurant a perfect score, but I'm compelled to do so. The food was simply awesome, tasty, delicious & addicting!!! I can not wait to visit this awesome place again...hopefully, very soon!!!

Located just outside of blue back square, definitely worth checking out if your looking for delicious Taiwanese food just 30 mins of the Bradley airport. The cucumber salad was so refreshing and flavorful I would rank these above DTFs. Everything came out quick and there isn't a dish we didn't love. The biggest surprise of our meal was the giant soup dumplings! Very massive, it caught us by surprise. The chili wonton are a MUST get item because they were juicy and plumb with just amount of sweetness and spiciness to it.

This is my first time here.! This is one of three restaurants owned by the owner of Han Restaurant in Hartford and Shu Restaurant in West Hartford. This is Chinese Szechuan cuisine. Here is what we enjoyed: Tsingtao: This is a Chinese beer. It was nice and cold. It goes well with this meal. Dandan Noodles: Dandan noodles is a noodle dish originating from Chinese Sichuan cuisine. It consists of a spicy sauce usually containing preserved vegetables, lower enlarged mustard stems, or upper mustard stems), chili oil, Sichuan pepper, minced pork, and scallions served over noodles. The dish can either be served dry or as a noodle soup. Steamed Vegetable Dumplings : Amy, a friend of Nebula Trip, is a vegetarian. Seaweed wonton soup: This is a nice variation of the traditional wonton soup. Wonton soup is a bouillon-like soup containing cooked, delicate wontons: dumplings filled with pork and/or shrimp mixed with some vegetables, soy sauce and sesame oil. Sometimes there are still noodles or vegetables such as bok choy in the soup, spring onions or chives are often sprinkled over it. Kendall Jackson Reisling: This is a crisp wine with layers of apricot, peach and orange blossom blend with bursts of aromatic jasmine and a wonderful finish. Chicken & Green Peppers Pancake Roll: A pancake roll is an item of Chinese food consisting of a small roll of thin crisp pastry filled with vegetables and sometimes meat. Chengdu Dumplings (pork): Chengdu dumplings are a type of Chinese dumpling that originated in the city of Chengdu, in the Sichuan province of China. They are typically made with a ground pork filling, and are known for their spicy flavor. Chengdu dumplings are often served in a soup, or with a dipping sauce. Mala Bamboo shoots: This is the hottest dish of the night (next to my braised beef soup). Mala is a spicy and numbing seasoning made from Sichuan peppercorn and chilli. Most commonly, mala is made into a sauce by simmering it in oil and other spices. Characteristic of Sichuan cuisine, particularly Chongqing cuisine, it has become one of the most popular ingredients in Chinese cuisine, spawning many regional variants. Avocado Shrimp : At first, the green topping looks like wasabi, but it's not. It's finely mashed avocado with a cool presentation. Sautéed Pork and Anaheim Peppers Soup: These are very mild. These are really called New Mexico chiles. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: This was pretty spicy so beware. Braising is simply a cooking method that involves browning meat or vegetables in oil, then cooking them in a small amount of liquid in a covered pan, either on the stovetop or in the oven. The long, slow cook time helps develop flavor and turn even the toughest of meat cuts fork-tender. Multi-spiced boiled egg: This unusual add on was found on the lower right hand corner of the menu. It is very unique. It gives the egg a much better Royce but it will not overwhelm you and isn't spicy . Sichuan Spicy Potatoes: This was the surprise of the day. These are really (very) lightly cooked crinkle cut French fries ! The seasoning they use is unbelievably good! Seven Flavor Wonton: These are damn good ! The Seven Flavor Wontons are tender dumplings showered in ground peanuts and sliced green onions. A bowl of Sichuan noodles combined peanuts with minced pork, peppers and cilantro, plus daikon, bok choi and sliced scallions. Mix it all together in a colorful jumble, pick up chopsticks, and enjoy. Twice Cooked Pork Pancake Roll: This was what I ordered. It's not very doing but has a fantastic taste. Sweet Zongzi: This is a dessert but it is not "sweet" at all. Zongzi ([tsŋ.ts]; Chinese: 粽子), rouzong (Chinese: 肉粽; Peh-ōe-jī: bah-chàng) or simply zong (Cantonese Jyutping: zung2) is a traditional Chinese rice dish made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves (generally of the species Indocalamus tessellatus), or sometimes with reed or other large flat leaves. They are cooked by steaming or boiling. In the Western world, they are also known as rice dumplings or sticky rice dumplings. These were not wrapped in bamboo leaves. The outer coating is a thick rice, moist paste. I think it's streamed. The inside is a dry bean paste. A unique flavor. Sweet Deep Fried Bun: These are tasty! They are actually found on the "snack" menu. They come with a delicious, sweet sauce. Chinese donuts ? These are off-menu absolutely delicious fried donuts with a crispy outer coating. There were complementary for Paul's birthday. Yes, I stole a few. Everything on this menu was great !

Lunch specials are smaller portion, but good for the price (raised to $12.95 now since my last menu photo) We split a lot of dishes because we couldn't decide: Wonton soup appetizer {4.5/5}: Loved how delicate the wontons were and the clear broth was great for a cold day. Tad too salty though. Lunch special --Braised pork belly {3/5}: Very tender, but kind of monotone in flavor. Very filling! Lunch special --Hot and sour gizzards {4.5/5}: This might freak people out in terms of texture, but I LOVE this texture. Good chew and pops of heat from the peppers and acid from the pickled green beans Lunch special --Cumin dish lamb {3/5}: kind of chewy and not as much flavor as I wished, but not bad! Chicken wings {3/5}: Crunchyyyy. Battered wings, not as much flavor as their chongqing chicken which I prefer, but not bad

Outside is very much a busy shopping plaza in not the best part of town. Inside is a completely different story. Very clean and spacious, lots of booths and tables. Decorated well and a lot to see. The staff were friendly but there was a slight language barrier. We fumbled through the menu and found some bites to try. Food came out relatively quick, and that was a bit to manage because there were a lot of plates brought rather quickly. We got pics and dug in. The bites were flavored well. Nothing felt too greasy or under seasoned. The white pepper chicken was very crispy. But not a lot of chicken on each bite. The sweet and sour soup was both sweet and sour, but balanced enough that you could keep on eating it. The dumplings were fresh noodles and the filling was spiced well. The only flop was the spare ribs. Really tasty sauce, but very little meat on the bone. Had to suck on the bones to scrape enough meat off to make it a proper appetizer. It tasted good, just was not easy to eat. Price for the area was high for the neighborhood. It's got the quality and the flavor to command that price easily, but it doesn't match the stores. It's really good, but know that you're getting the real deal sichuan experience. Expect some heat, some saucy fingers, and some bones, and you'll get some really good bites

Almost every single we've ordered is certifiably crave-able (my mouth is watering thinking about it right now!) and loved my entire family. My favorites: the green beans (!!!), cucumber with minced garlic, any of the dumplings, shredded pork with 5 spices tofu (an acquired taste!) and any of their beef entrees. We've had amazing fried rice too but then forgot what we ordered and the chicken fried rice wasn't as good... still delicious though! Sapporo Premium Beer is Japan's oldest beer brand, founded in Hokkaido in 1876 by brewer Seibei Nakagawa. Known for a crisp, refined taste with a clean, dry finish, it is a pilsner-style lager (roughly 4.7-5.2% ABV) frequently packaged in iconic silver cans. It pairs well with Japanese food and is known for its high-quality ingredients and brewing standards. It was founded in 1876 during Japan's Meiji-era modernization in Hokkaido, it is the nation's first and oldest beer. The world headquarters of Sapporo Breweries is in Ebisu, Shibuya, Tokyo, and it also operates a renowned museum in Sapporo. As for taste, it's a golden-colored, light-to-medium-bodied lager with mild bitterness, a subtle sweet malt aroma, and a sharp finish.. While technically a Japanese beer, many cans sold in the U.S. are brewed in places like Escondido, California, and Richmond, Virginia, Key products include Sapporo Premium Lager, Sapporo Black, and Yebisu. This is THE beer to have with this cuisine (Chengdu or Szechuan). This is good! It's ice cold too! For our appetizers, we are having the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings and Spicy Flavored Jelly Noodles which are dressed in scallions, ginger, garlic, celery and cilantro. These are good! They come with soy sauce. The noodles are made from mong beans. Mung beans (Vigna radiata) are small, green legumes native to India, widely cultivated in Asia, and known as green gram or moong bean. They are a highly nutritious, versatile ingredient, rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, used in both savory dishes (soups, curries, noodles) and sweet desserts, often sprouted for increased nutritional value. Mung beans are easy to cook, require little to no presoaking, and offer health benefits like antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I am also having the Seafood Hot and Sour Soup (small size). This seafood soup is good! Not too spicy! It's similar to the standard Chinese hot and sour soup in taste. For my entree, i'm having the Sliced Chicken with Crunchy Rice. This is made with chicken slices, crunchy rice, black fungus, ginger, scallions, garlic, pickled chili peppers, lettuce and pea sprouts. They fold the crispy rice and put it on top. This is piping hot! Spicy too! For dessert, we are having a Chocolate Truffle (made with Zabione cream center surrounded by chocolate gelato and caramelized hazelnuts topped with cocoa powder), Cappuccino Truffle (made with cappuccino gelato with a heart of espresso covered with coffee flavored merinique sprinkles) and Capps Pistachio (custard gelato swirled with chocolate and pistachio gelato ago topped with praline pistachios). Zabaione (or zabaglione) is a classic Italian dessert made from whipped egg yolks, sugar, and sweet wine (traditionally Marsala) cooked gently over a double boiler until light, foamy, and custard-like. It can be served warm as a sauce over fruit or cookies, or chilled as a standalone dessert, often garnished with berries or biscotti. The name comes from the Venetian word for "whipped," reflecting its airy texture. These are absolutely great!
