My family has been here before and there has never been an issue with the whole party sitting in the same area. When we got there, the server was going to charge us $1 per person for gratuity since our party was larger than 7 people. We couldn't sit in separate booths next to each other. We couldn't even be in the same dining area. The servers were going to have all of us in each corner of the restaurant. It's a buffet, we're siting in separate booths, serving ourselves anyway. I have eaten at this restaurant several times over the past few months. The only reason I go there is because my wife likes it. I've always felt it was somewhat like a cattle feed. The floors in the restaurant are always dirty, the staff is not particularly friendly and the food is OK, but not great. Last night I took my family to dinner there. When I received the check, I found a 10% tip had been arbitrarily added to the bill. When I challenged them about this they told me they charge this when there is 7 people or more. Now I ask you, how does this compute? I am penalized for bringing more customers in to eat?!? Also, they don't have this surcharge rule posted on their menu. It's written on a note behind check-out in an inconspicuous place. Now, I am usually a generous tipper, but I REALLY DON'T LIKE IT when my CHOICE to tip is taken from me. I do not see the justification in charging me extra for a tip just because there is 7 people in my party. Annnd.....If there was 7 people at different tables, wouldn't it take MORE TIME and EFFORT to provide service?!? Makes no sense to me!!! Lastly, when I went to pay the check, they asked for my drivers license. As stated earlier, I have eaten at this restaurant several times and NEVER been asked for my drivers license previously, I thought this was a ridiculous request. Most of the time I do not take my wallet with me, only an ATM card, so I did not have my drivers license with me. The cashier insisted I show him my license. Had I been thinking more clearly I should have said to him..... "I am offering my ATM card for payment (Which is quite adequate) and I've already eaten. If you refuse to take my ATM card without my drivers license, it's a little late, don't you think?" Well I was tired so I walked out to my car, which happened to be at the far end of the parking lot, and retrieved my drivers license JUST SO I COULD PAY MY BILL FOR A DINNER I HAD ALREADY RECEIVED AND EATEN. This is the buffet we have been going for years. We usually go around 6:00 pm and we get seated quickly on a weekday. I really enjoy starting with one of them egg soup..last few times it's been watery but I still love it. I also enjoy eating their little steak pieces that they serve. I've never had a problem with the food here. It's pretty good.sometimes I have to wait a bit when they are out of a specific food, meanwhile I grab some more orange chicken or lo mein or dumplins or fried octopus( not sure if it's called exactly like that). Service..well they don't interact with you they just take and bring you what you need. They seem and are very dry. I think they are not fluent..so they just know the basics. That's okay! They are always getting plates out of the way. When it's time to pay the managers..The lady and the guy that are always there at the cashier they are always cool and nice.At least when we go and pay ! Took the family here last night. It was busy but we were seated immediately. The selection was huge. Lots of appetizers and Chinese main dishes to pick from. The buffet area was actively being stocked and cleaned. There was a small selection of sushi which looked nice but was only OK. The service was excellent with plates being cleared and drinks filled without us ever having to ask. Everything is delicious if not perfect, the selection is enormous (you'll fill up before you try everything), it's cheap, and the service is great. After your first visit, you will be counting down the days to when you feel like you can withstand another half hour period of ingesting thousands of calories of delicious Chinese food. DO NOT EAT HERE! Just contacted the health board about this place. We've eaten here several times in the past and never had a problem, but this time was different. The female employee who was in charged of maintaining the food kept hawking up flem WHILE SHE WAS HANDLING THE FOOD. I have no clue how this place has such a good rating, it was horrible. The parking lot directly in front of the door is trashed, literally. The staff is fairly friendly, especially the lady who seats you but the good, eh. It filled the void but I would have much rather had something tasty. Even the chocolate fountain disappointed, it was cold and didn't set up. The spring rolls were old trading, the orange chicken was ok. It was all just ok, and I will never be back. My boyfriend and I came to this buffet and it was a great decision. We came in shortly after opening on a sunday morning and the food was steamed and fresh. They offer a great variety of food and some examples include chinese food, steak, chicken, crab, sushi, salad bar and multiple dessert choices like ice cream, cookies, flan, etc... The staff is friendly and polite and are constantly refilling your cups and picking up your plates. The food is never empty as they keep refilling it. And the establishment was very clean. Typical buffet. Food is on the hotter side of warm rather than hot unless you get it the moment they bring it out of the kitchen. The staff is attentive and refills drinks promptly and clears plates. I'm very pleased. I'm truly not a buffet kind of girl let alone Chinese buffet but my father was in town and wanted to try it. Honestly I think my husband and I found a new spot. They had so many great choices and it was a great price. Some of the highlights were: Burbon Chicken, Lo Mein (which I added bean sprouts), stuffed crab clams, coconut shrimp, the New York steak, and the stuffed mushrooms were just some of my favorites. Everything was hot and fresh and all looked great. The only down fault was my husband felt the service was a little off. The guy serving us seemed to want us gone. Not sure why since we are an easy table and we also tipped 20$ on a 40$ meal total. He rushed us the bill and seemed not pleased when asked for a Pepsi refill. I'm a server myself so I understand things happen and that's why I tipped 20$ anyways. I would only change the service and maybe to add a few more yummy desserts. The flan was warm and not appealing so maybe some brownies or something of that nature would be better and keep better. But we will keep coming back. read more
