Seafood fried rice
Linda E.

I blame myself for ordering here before reading the Yelp reviews. I do not recommend the seafood fried rice. It has imitation crab, a couple of small shrimp, and an unidentified ingredient that looks like a potato. The only vegetable was a couple pieces of onion. It's blah. Absolutely not worth the $11.25 I paid for it. I also do not recommend the cashew chicken. The chicken tasted breaded which makes no sense. I asked for no bamboo shoots and requested onions instead but they went to town adding celery instead which I also despise. The hot and sour soup is very thick and gelatinous. I asked for 2 more bags of crispy noodles and was charged $2 extra. One of the bags had half the amount of the other 2. The pepper steak with onions was good and is the only item I would recommend from my $47 order.

Is this Shrimp Fried Rice for real or we'll just give you anything and think you won't know the difference rice? I love Asian Cuisine and I eat it a few times a a week. This was my first time trying New China in Mesa, AZ. I placed my order online and drove to pick it up only to be disappointed when I got home. There was not an egg, a pea, or a carrot in my rice only imitation shrimp and onions. I didn't get any soy sauce , utensils or fortune cookie either!! This was the worst shrimp fried rice I've ever had and I don't appreciate the inconvenience of having to make a review instead of calling the restaurant who has the nerve to be closed on Monday. Is this how Mesa cooks fried rice? I'll pass.

My husband and I usually order Chinese takeout from a place down the street. We received a coupon for New China for free fried rice so we decided to order from there tonight. The moment I walked into the restaurant, I was warmly greeted by a young blonde woman at the front register. The atmosphere was incredible. Now to the food.... the fried rice tastes fresh and not greasy at all! I got the crispy beef... amazing. My husband got the General Tsos Chicken and Hunan Shrimp... best he's ever had. The food went above our expectations. We will be back!

The noodles were thick and juicy, holding onto flavor with every bite. There was a little too much soy sauce on the plate, sure, but not enough to take away from how satisfying it all felt. The white rice, though, was the surprise. Simple, but cooked perfectly the kind of side that doesn't try to steal the show yet somehow does. It's easy, affordable, and hits the spot without trying too hard. The kind of place you come back to when you just want a good plate of food that delivers.

Service quick, kinda in the middle of nowhere but definitely some place I'd come back on a consistent basis for lunch. Highlights: in house chilli oil was good. Mongolian chicken had layers to it. Chicken was velveted just enough, good amount of tissue shreds without feeling like you are chewing on rubber. Very flavorful and balances with the bell peppers and onions. Liked that they threw in bean paste for that pungent Umami.

This place is a gem!…read more Our problem is that each dish is better than the next. We think we know what we want to order when we walk in. But, we'll see something new on the menue, and it then becomes our new favorite. ANYthing we order has been outstanding. The service is very friendly and very helpful. They are very accomodating. The atmosphere is not fancy, but it is clean. While eating there, I always say. "I can't wait to come back." Just writing this review is making me yearn to eat there now, and I just ate there two days ago. If you have a favorite Asian restaurant that is different from Old Town Taste, I challenge you to try this restaurant. I am confident it will become your new favorite. Parking was a breeze and seating was spacious. I like the interior a lot and the service was quite good (seeing that it was only one person taking down the orders and cleaning! very fast for that). For the food, we ordered chicken fried rice, fragrance tender beef, fish-flavored eggplant, boiled fish with pickled cabbage, and dry fried green beans. All of these dishes were yummy, in particular, my parents love the boiled fish with pickled cabbage and fragrance tender beef. I do think there is solid sichuan spice flavor. This is a great place to get Chinese food in Arizona :) **something to note, there might be a heightened salty flavor in some dishes so be wary haha We always visit!

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.

Four years since that first visit, we gave her a choice of any cuisine for her graduation party. She didn't hesitate and requested they cater. The food was outstanding and they surprised us with dumplings as well! The quality and quantity of food was outstanding, we had many compliments and just enough leftovers for lunch the next day! I recommend everyone stop in and give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
