Used new Citiy moving before recommended to anybody that needs a moving company , guys are great but be careful the bait and switch on price of moving ,‼‼ it started at one price, I called back give the address to a call taker she said a different price moved appointment time to afternoon and told me that because of traffic would be charged extra drive time . After going to a different date, I got a morning time guys went and got furniture delivered to the new address. They were great when it came for the Bill on his pad the price was way off so I ended up talking to another person at this company. They adjusted to Bill somewhat but it was off from what I was quoted. Windy City moving has been sold a few years ago to a different company customers beware. read more

The guys that moved the furniture were excellent. The office staff were horrible. Andy wouldn't let the guys off load the furniture until I paid in full. They were in The middle of the job and had to stop so the boss could get paid. He couldn't spell my name or e-mail even though Igave the office my information 4 times. Despite stopping the job and making me pay, it took him another 30 minutes to get me a receipt. He made the whole experience very unfortunate, with the feeling that nobody could be trusted, not me or his own workers. It's a shame because they worked hard. I used this moving company 3 years ago and had an overall good experience, this time not so much. As many other people have mentioned the company used very shady communication and changed the price for the move on me 3 times. The first was the original quote which was very reasonable. The second time (a few days before the move) I get spammed called by an unknown number, no voicemail left, while I'm at work. I finally take the call and it's someone from the moving team insisting that I need to virtually sign a document before the move can happen. Not only was the price listed substantially higher than the original quote but the agent would not allow me to hang up, read the document and sign. They insisted if I did not sign while on the phone my move would be cancelled. With only 3 days before the move I sign the thing. Now the day of the move I am in another state as was planned and communicated with their team. My mother was helping me out by managing the movers. After they get everything to the drop off location I get a call from the same agent who is now saying the price has increased even more and I need to let them charge my card now or they will not unload my things. Of course they charge by the hour so the longer I argue with the agent the more I'm getting charged. I let the payment go through and then immediately got a call from my mother who was in tears. Apparently the movers were giving her a hard time and stated everything would not fit in my storage unit. They say they can fit everything but my couch to which I accepted as I just wanted the whole process done and over with. When I finally checked my things, much more than my couch was missing. They took lamps, a table, and my $1000.00 ergonomic desk chair. Of course they also charged me an additional fee to remove the items they claimed would not fit. In my experience, it's generally pretty easy to deal with people who do their jobs in physical reality. Like movers. We generally know what the job is and it's obvious what has to happen. What I do not expect - but had to tolerate from New City - is an itinerant PTSD ward whose emotional/energetic needs the customer expected to ascertain and coddle. New City abandoned a simple move the morning it was scheduled to take place - after having half-loaded and then unloaded the truck not once - but twice. Can't make this shit up, folks..... My 92-year-old mother from her apartment to an assisted living facility - with a 1 pm freight elevator appointment at the destination. New City arrived late, with the crew not having received my instructions for parking and egress at the start point. Because New City fails to provide contracts in advance, the "crew chief" - a crazy-eyed character missing half his teeth and wearing his pants halfway down his legs - demanded I sign my life away on an iPad; i.e., I had zero opportunity to even read what I was signing - but whatever......sign away... Next thing you know, the office phones me to say that the crew is unloading the boxes already loaded onto the truck because someone on the crew claims they're being "obstructed". After I explain that all "paperwork" is executed, that everything is staged perfectly for them, and that in fact I am facilitating their process, they get back to work. That is, they re-load what they had unloaded, and proceed to load more and wrap furniture. Then "crew chief" calls me over to inform me, as he must, of a questionable bolt on a piece of furniture: "I have to show this to you." "OK - you showed me. Does this thing prevent you in any way from moving this piece of furniture?" "No." "OK. So is there anything further you need from me at the moment?" "No." "Then proceed." At that point, "crew chief" flips out and tells me he's done - and he once again insists that his crew unload the materials already loaded onto the truck and unwrap all the wrapped furniture. Evidently, he doesn't like my attitude - which says volumes about him and very little about me. Suffice it to say, these idiots abandon a job they partly completed twice, having wasted several hours of their own time - and more importantly, my time. I am writing to express my frustration with my recent experience with New City Moving, which has been nothing short of disastrous. I booked a the moving service a week in advance, with a scheduled pickup time of Friday at 2pm, I was told the driver would call me at 1pm which he never did. Unfortunately, the movers arrived an hour and 45 minutes late. Initially, I was quoted $175 an hour for two movers, but when the driver finally arrived, he informed me that there would be three movers and that the cost would be $250 an hour. When I attempted to contact the company to clarify this discrepancy, my calls went unanswered, ringing at least 50 times without a response. Additionally, I was informed that they intended to charge me for an hour of travel time, which amounted to $175, despite the fact that my new location is only 23 minutes away. New City/All My Sons was great to us the first time we used them(March 2025). We had to then move again in a hurry a few months later (May 31st 2025), and they were terrible. We were sent an estimate that was not followed, a truck that was too small and a crew that was missing one person. Two of the three crew members barely worked, and the move ended up taking 9 hours when it should have taken 6. We tried to get a hold of management many times and have not received a call back after promises to right the wrong. Will never use this company again, or recommend. read more

This company is a complete scam. I scheduled a move with them back in April for June 1st and paid a deposit. Moving day came and went--they never showed up. No calls, no updates, no one answering the phone despite multiple attempts to reach them. When I finally got someone on the phone the next morning, they casually told me the earliest they could move me was in two days. Two days?! After leaving me completely stranded with zero notice? Unacceptable. I should've been their top priority, especially after their screw-up. To make matters worse, they've still not refunded my deposit. ***DO NOT BOOK A MOVE until you read this honest testimonial.*** What was supposed to be a happy move has turned into a week of anxiety and frustration. We booked a Saturday move from our condo in the city to a house 20 miles away. After using the company once before, we had hoped for the same experience. We were quoted an estimate of $2,857 for a 3.5 hour load, 3.5 hour unload and 1.5 hours of travel and the estimator mentioned multiple times that the move would likely take closer to 6 hours. We originally were going to pack ourselves and 2 days prior decided to have kitchenware and closets done for us, we called to request this and were told this wouldn't be a problem and the additional cost would just be the extra hourly rate for packing time, we were never given a second physical quote. We were told we would have 5 movers. On moving day, they promptly arrived at 8:00am and we were surprised to find that we had a team of 4 men and 1 woman. A few hours in, it became clear that the team was not moving efficiently. At 1, we were informed that one truck was not going to be enough, and work slowed even more. The foreman spent the next 30 minutes coordinating a 2nd truck and the rest of the crew was operating short handed. At 1:30, 5.5 hours after beginning, one of the men had to leave the job to get a second truck. At this point I started to move items from our downstairs storage myself to get the process moving faster. I moved an entire storage closet from the basement to the truck, which was included in the estimate. The trucks finally left our condo at 3:10pm, 7 hours after arrival. It was a 60+ minute drive to the new house. The team already looked defeated and exhausted at this point. It was 8:00 pm when they finally finished, and the clock kept rolling for an additional 30 minutes of cleanup. Then it was time for the final bill, $6,446, which included $1,880 of packing materials. We almost hit the floor after an estimate of $2,857! We immediately spoke to the dispatcher Maria who informed us her hands were tied on billing and we would be forced to pay and discuss with a manager on Monday. Monday came and went and we never received a call. On Tuesday we called and spoke with Yolanda who said we would need to speak to Gio in the claims department and she would open a case. It is now Friday, 6 days after the move and we have not received a call back. We have called daily and are clearly being given a run around. WE REVIEWED DOCUMENTS FOR THE FINAL BILLING THIS WEEK AND MY PARTNER'S SIGNATURE WAS FORGED UNDER THE SHIPPER SIGNATURE LINE BEFORE INITIATION OF THE MOVE. We feel that the need for a second truck was inappropriate given their video estimation process, which clearly showed the contents of our condo. We feel we have been scammed and cheated out of our money. We are pursuing all avenues to get fair reimbursement for the poor estimate and the difference in our payment from the estimate. Ironically, a person named Wendell verbally stated that the estimation system had glitched. This is a ridiculous statement because Devon movers gave us a very similar quote using their own estimation. Given that we have not heard back from anyone at New City Moving, our next step is contacting the BBB because there is clearly some inappropriate business practices happening, and we want to encourage everyone else to be very careful with this company. To make matters worse, this final bill came to us after I had handed a generous $800 gratuity to the foreman. Final cost, $7,200 + refreshments provided throughout the move. -------------- UPDATE 7/31 (2 weeks after move): We have been continually given the run around on phone calls and emails. The local Chicago office directs us to corporate "All my sons, Business development LLC". We have been told we need to speak with Geoff National Claims/Customer Care Center but he has not returned our emails or calls since a failed attempt 7 days ago. I want to start off by saying my 2 movers were so great, hard working, and professional. The problem I have is the intake call when scheduling the move and receiving the quote. I have never used movers before so I don't know the hidden fees and numerous charges. The girl on the phone said I would be charged $X per hour... and that's it. No labor charge, no materials charge. I was quoted around $300/$400 since I had only 3 things to move. The movers get to me and say since they have left over supplies from the move before they won't charge me for tape and wrap. Great? I never knew I would be charged for that. I got the bill for $760. I see labor charges of ~$550. I was never made aware that on top of the hourly charge are labor charges. This sucked because I only had enough cash to tip the movers based on a $400 move. I asked to speak to someone about this and the guy on the phone sounded like he was reading off a script. DO NOT hire New City Movers. Our experience with them was absolutely horrific from start to finish, and the way they've handled our formal complaint since then has only made it worse. We were quoted $200/hour for a 3-person crew and truck, with a move scheduled between 11am-4pm. The movers didn't arrive until 5:30pm, with no communication from the company. I had to reach out myself to get any updates. One mover even received a phone notification soon after the move began saying that he had exceeded his legal 11-hour workday limit -- a serious safety and liability concern. Even though we had submitted an inventory and specified we had a two-bedroom apartment, they showed up with a truck that wasn't large enough and claimed they were unaware of the size of the job. They took *NINE* hours to load what they could, and didn't arrive at our new place until 11:30pm, and then tried to pressure us into paying $2,400 -- nearly four times our original estimate of $600 to move a standard 2bdrm apt 15 mins west. They told us if we didn't pay it, our belongings would be taken to a storage facility and essentially held hostage. I was presented with updated paperwork, pressured to sign it without time to read, and told they wouldn't finish unloading the truck unless we agreed to the inflated rate. At this point it was the middle of the night, and we were forced to scrape together nearly $2,000 just to get the first truckload delivered. We ended up hiring a different moving company -- the incredible A Move To Remember, LLC -- to retrieve the rest of our belongings and finish the job. They confirmed that what New City Movers did was almost certainly in violation of Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) regulations, including overcharge limits and the right to withhold delivery. I submitted a formal complaint directly to New City Movers, and have since been communicating with Andy Barriga from their operations team. He has now twice told me he would follow up by a specific time and then failed to do so -- once again proving that this company cannot be trusted to do what they say they will. If you're considering using this company, DON'T. Their practices were misleading, exploitative, and deeply unprofessional. They created a dangerous situation for both their staff and customers and then failed to take accountability for any of it. Also, they were recently bought out by a company called All My Sons, and I believe they are retaining the New City Movers name because of all of the previous good reviews attached to it. Don't let them fool you. If they don't resolve our complaint, I'll be pursuing this through the ICC, and I strongly recommend anyone else who's been harmed by New City Movers' conduct do the same. I usually dont do this but this company is so bad to its employees. I used to be a foreman and they promised bonuses and % of material sold however they never paid anything. Not 1 penny. Over a year of asking for the pay that was promised but they just pushed it off hoping you forget about it eventually. If you arent on good terms with dispatch . They wont put you on jobs . Only way to get work at this company is either by being a favorite or being in a relantionship with the dispatchers. Yes thats correct. A guy was in a relantionship with one of the dispatchers and he got work 24/7. Got a raise and everything . And God forbid you have plans one day or an accident cause then they wont call you at all. Dear New City Moving Team, I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment with the service I received during my recent move and to file a claim for a damaged television and other issues related to the move. Before the move, both of my televisions were fully functional. I now have clear photo evidence that one of them--previously in perfect condition--was damaged during the move. The screen now shows black lines as if it were dropped. I was told by Omar that his manager instructed him not to use blankets to cover the TV and that it would be "fine." As you can see, that was clearly not the case. This is extremely upsetting, especially considering I tipped the movers $150 on top of a $1,139 bill. Additionally, the movers failed to reattach the legs to my recliner chair, leaving it incomplete and unusable. I've attached a photo of this as well for your reference. To make matters worse, my move was abruptly stopped midway due to glue traps I had in my home--traps I use as a personal safety precaution. My home is clean, with no pests or infestations, and there were absolutely no signs of any activity. I was told the move would be canceled and that my items might be returned. I had to speak with three different managers just to get the move approved, even though most of my belongings were already on the truck. This delay cost me over an hour and felt like a tactic to increase the total cost. At no point was I informed that glue traps would be an issue. Again, how I maintain the safety of my home should not have interfered with your movers completing their job. The handling of this situation was unprofessional and unacceptable. I am requesting immediate assistance in filing a claim for the damaged TV and the incomplete setup of my recliner. I expect a prompt and fair resolution. Photos of both issues are attached. I have also left a voicemail regarding these concerns and expect a follow-up as soon as possible. I texted the mover as well photo attached. I am a professional home organizer and have been using New City for many years, as part of my job is to also manage client moves from beginning to end during the spring and summer months. New City Moving used to be my favorite out of them all in Chicago, but since they were bought out by New Sons, everything is going down the tubes. My recent move job went as follows. Movers showed up 25 minutes late on move day, had the audacity to ask for a tip, over-rode my instruction as to arrival time at the new location and approached the front desk to start unloading before my arrival, after I told them we had the elevator booked at a certain time. Apparently they had a full move after mine, which is something the "old " New City never did, so they were in a rush. I was willing to let all that slide until the next day I noticed that they drilled too far in to my clients dining table while assembling it and cracked the top of it in four areas. Funny how the lead Juan made sure to point out any items while packing that were previously damaged, or scratches on the floor of the new unit when we entered, but neglected to inform me that he busted my clients table right before he left for his next job. oh and for the record, I had tips for each team member on both pack and move day. point is, no one in service should ask for a tip. it's tacky. Before booking, I confirmed that packing blankets would be used, but on move day everything was wrapped only in plastic wrap. When my items arrived, nearly all of my furniture had visible damage. I went through their claims process, which was handled according to their stated policy. If I could give zero stars I would! NEVER EVER use this moving company. We were told our move in was scheduled for 8 am CST. 10am rolls around and we have heard nothing. We call the number and are told they are overbooked and our window will be from 1-4pm. Annoying but we understand it's the busiest moving day and that is fine. At 2:45pm we've heard no update, we had already moved our cat over to the new place as these moves can be traumatizing for pets. We didn't want her alone all day so we call to see if they can give us an eta so we can at least go and do a quick check on our cat. At 2:45pm we are told that someone will call us in 15 mins to tell us they are 30 mins away. 3:40 creeps around and we have heard nothing. We call again and a new rep tells us they will be there by 4:45pm, 5pm at the absolute latest. At this point we have started moving our own boxes over to our new place because we had to schedule a move in time and it is nearly 8 hours after the original move in time. At 4:45p. We get a call from the actual moving crew saying they won't be there until 7pm. Now the actual moving crew themselves was very kind and very helpful and had no idea we had been told an 8am move in time. We called the customer service line and asked to speak to a manager and got transferred to lines that rang off the hook with no pickup in sight. We were given fake numbers by said customer service team to speak to management and could not get a hold of anyone. As I am writing this now it is nearly 6pm and our movers are finally on their way to us. I want to emphasize the moving crew themselves have been very kind and very understanding but the business itself is a joke. They say the "value" their customers and would be nothing without them. BUYER BEWARE - New City Moving practices operates with borderline fraudulent business practices. They will underquote you, bill you for lunch time, and purposefully / deceitfully extend your move to last the entire day (billing per hour). Further, if they damage your property (in my case, broke the floor of my home) they will become unresponsive and leave you in lurch. I have used NCM for every move I've had in my nine years in Chicago, and I am appalled at both the services provided and the lack of support following. At the time of this review, I have contacted the business five times (four emails last week and one phone call 4/14 where I was promised a supervisor would contact me that afternoon, which never occurred). I did not receive services that justify a $1,000 move. I urge everyone to believe the other low-rated reviews and avoid NCM at all costs. (Cost is the operative word here). I hope NCM will contact me to take responsibility, but I've received nothing when posting this review. The timeline of inferior experience with NCM for my 3/31 move: 3/11, the move is scheduled for 1 pm, 3/31, and NCM is aware of my strict timeline for freight rental at my new building. Moves can only occur M-F 8-5. The freight was scheduled from 2-5. 3/30, I completed the final move confirmation on the phone. I explained the size of the move (less than a one-bedroom), what packing materials I would need NCM to bring (bubble wrap for mirrors and other precious items), and restated the strict timeline of my freight rental. I was assured everything was noted and good to go. March 31st, Movers were scheduled to arrive at 1 pm. The freight elevator is reserved from 2-5, for $300. 1:54 pm, I called NCM after no word from the movers. After contacting dispatch, they told me they were running late due to an earlier move in the suburbs and would be an additional 20 minutes late. She also mentioned that she had taken down my initial scheduling and made several notes about the items that needed to be moved and the strict schedule we had to work with. 1:56, the moving crew called me to say they were late due to a move in the suburbs earlier that morning, and traffic getting back into the city. He claimed they would be at my apt within 20 minutes. 2:39 the manager of my condo building reached out to request an ETA, which I had made very clear to NCM in but my initial request, first phone conversation with NCM, during the secondary phone conversation with NCM while giving a list of the move items (which I clearly stated would need bubble wrap for five mirrors and a precious vase, which NCM did NOT provide during the move), and a final reminder while I was on the phone with NCM after I called to inform them the movers were an hour late on 3/31. 2:40 (1 hr 40 min late), the movers arrived for move-out. They did not bring bubble wrap for the fragile items I requested, but assured me it would be "fine" 2:41, my building manager let me know where they needed to park and again reminded me they needed to be done and out of the building by 5, per HOA rules and regulations. All parties knew this well before the move date. The reservation was for 2-5. 4:00, I called NCM again as the move-out had not been finished. I requested they send additional help, but Jase Wollfolk, who became the contact person at that point, claimed no other assistance was available. I asked Jase to contact my building to ensure the move could finish, which he did. ~4:40, the move-out was completed, and I left for the move-in location. I spoke with Jase again, who assured me the building manager had approved an additional 45 minutes for the move. 4:50, my building manager told me that though the extra 45 minutes had been approved, the movers needed to be there before 5, or the move would need to be rescheduled. 4:55, the movers arrived at the building. The move-in took approximately 2 hrs. I am waiting to hear of any ramifications this rule-breaking will cause. The lead mover had me speak with the dispatcher, who claimed the only restorative action that could be taken at the time was a refund for the materials used, about $40, which were not the materials I had requested (bubble wrap). Failure of the company to plan for travel and typical traffic should not constitute an emergency on the customer's part. I explained the strict guidelines for freight rental in my building multiple times. Due to negligence by NCM, I was almost required to reschedule my move had my manager not allowed the exception. I used this service for a move, I had used them once before so I wasn't too concerned. The difference being this time, their movers broke my TV. Onsite, they assured me New City Moving would cover the cost as they were at fault. I tipped them well as I was expecting good customer service. New City Moving instead sent an aggressive lawyer to intimidate me over calls and emails and just accept their offer of $18 as compensation - what a joke. Unless I had video proof that the movers were at fault, it was non-negotiable. Who records their full move? How creepy would that be. Hiring this company is the same as hiring 2 local college guys, there is no credibility and additional assurances you would think come from a "legitimate" business. I'm sorry to have to rate this company so low because I was quoted and charged appropriately to the contract. Also, my two movers, Miguel and Jonathan were very kind, courteous, and helpful. The downsides - I received four phone calls after I scheduled my move asking me to verify my email address. These phone calls were made from different numbers that I did not have associated with New City Moving. I called the company directly and asked why I was receiving so many calls because I thought it was a scam- they said they do have several numbers associated with their company and took my email address, again. I also received a call prior to the move to ask if I had any disposables - which I did and I felt the price was comparable to other companies so I asked them to take that as well, which worked out well. The biggest issue I had was two small holes put in my wall from moving furniture from the second floor to the first floor. Miguel and I took pictures and he reported it to his company. I also reported it when they called me for final payment before they would move the furniture into the new home. I was informed that I would receive a claim request at that time. When we finish signing the contract, a notation was made about the two holes before signed the completed move contract (although Miguel attempted to check the box that no damage occurred on the move and I made him change it and enter the two holes before I would sign-I'm not sure if it was an oversight on his end or intentional, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt). It has now been three weeks and 5 phone calls to the company, an email and a response to a text asking me to recommend their company and still have not received the claim. One of the calls I spoke to Andy, operations manager, and assured I would be sent the claim. Left 2 messages with him on the unidentified VM I called from the " direct number" I asked for when I initially spoke to him with no return call or email with claim. I'm extremely disappointed and felt I needed to post to let others know and I would not recommend in case you incur damage during your move-you will be responsible to pay it yourself even though they claim to have insurance coverage. read more

Terrible experience. This company has totally changed. They used to provide good service but now they are all about ripping people off. I purchased a repair program that would cover $5000 in damages and the amount of damage they made to my items mounted to over $7000. They only offered $230 and basically said that if I didn't take that offer, they would offer nothing at all. Stay away from this company! Not reputable. The overcharge, lie about their replacement/repair program and are negligent. The last time I used them, they broke 1 item but at least offered a repair. This time, they broke 2 items that were quite expensive and gave an arbitrary value to the items, despite my receipts for the items purchased, photos of the damage, and current price of items on the market. All the communication I sent was neglected. Claims never called me back despite numerous emails, calls and promises by management that they would call me back. Worst customer service by far. I had used them five years ago and had a fantastic experience, which is why I chose them again. Unfortunately, this time was completely different--in the worst way. According to my receipts, it seems the move was actually handled by All My Sons Moving, a company with a 1.5-star rating on Yelp. Whether they were subcontracted or acquired by New City, the service reflected that low standard. While one or two issues might've been understandable, the sheer number of problems made for a frustrating and stressful experience: 1. They arrived 30 minutes late and tried to charge me as if they were only 15 minutes behind. 2. They stripped the screws on my wood dining table. 3. They dragged the tabletop of the solid wood dining table across the ground until I asked them to stop. 4. Tons of dents and scratches in walls. They nearly knocked out three light fixtures, and I ended up having to closely supervise the rest of the move just to prevent more damage. 5. The lead mover complained constantly, which made things uncomfortable. I offered cold drinks and tried to be friendly, but it was very awkward. I get that moving is hard--that's why I hired professionals. 6. They worked inefficiently, moving just a few boxes at a time instead of fully loading the freight elevator and unloading all at once. 7. They also didn't use a ramp for the four stairs (like I had seen most movers do), but still blamed the stairs for delays--at $200/hour, this really added up. 8. A wood drawer unit was completely broken. 9. My dresser was also damaged. 10. Most of my moving boxes were crushed. 11. So sooo many other items (couch, bed, plastic bins) were scraped across the ground, shattered, had fabric sliced, etc. 12. The claims process is a mess. You need original receipts, must save all packaging (which the movers took), and before any payout (at just $0.30 per pound per item), they first try to repair the damage themselves. Overall, this move was expensive, inefficient, and damaging--both to my belongings and my trust in New City Moving. I'm sharing this review to hopefully spare someone else the same headache. Don't trust the positive reviews, things have changed with New City Moving recently. We have used this company in past years (2022 and 2024) and had good experiences, and then used them again this past month and are extremely disappointed. Our move out was scheduled for June 30th at 1 pm. No one ever showed up so after many phone calls and attempts to get an answer over the next few hours, we were told they would come before 6:00 pm. Throughout this time, no one was communicating updates with us and they were brushing us off and non-apologetic. Once again, no one showed up. Finally at 8:30 pm we got a call from a mover who asked if we still wanted them to come that night. I asked if they even do moves that late and he admitted no, and also that he didn't have a crew. It seemed as if he was trying to get us to cancel our move, but we did not so he then gave us multiple dispatchers personal cell phone numbers and after another hour of trying to get in contact with someone, they rescheduled us for the next morning. The moving crew did a good job which is the only reason I am even giving one star. They stored our belongings for a few weeks and then our move in to our home was also scheduled for 8:00 am. This time we did receive a few updates throughout the day since we had the movers cell phone number and were able to check in. There ended up being a problem with the driver timing out, so by the time another driver arrived to complete our move, it was 3:00 pm (7 hours later than scheduled.) Once again once they arrived, the moving crew was hard working. This is clearly a problem with management, overbooking, and lack of communication and professionalism. We have reached out to the company to share our negative experience, and they offered no apologies and nothing to make it right. ***EDIT: After posting this review, Ryan from the corporate office reached out to talk about our experience. He offered a partial refund and was extremely nice and apologetic about our experience. This was our first time using New City Moving, and will no doubt be our last. In fact, this move was such a bad experience we were going to leave it behind us. But New City Moving kept reaching out, asking for referrals. We used New City Moving to move out of a 2 bedroom apartment. We paid for 3 movers, they sent us 2.5. Pedro, along with 2 hard-working movers, showed up 45 minutes after the estimated arrival time. First thing Pedro asks for is a bandage. They haven't even started moving and he's already injured! In fact, Pedro was sitting in the truck on his phone much of the time while the other two loaded. My wife even asked the other guys if Pedro was working, they just rolled their eyes. Despite me telling the rep who booked the appointment, as well as Pedro on the day of, that we had to be out of our apartment by noon, things moved at a snail's pace. They took over 3 hours to load out our 2 bedroom apartment. When we informed Pedro there were a few things in the garage to get, he said he would get them. A while later, I see a moving dolly and one box sitting alone in the garage. In the interest of time, I carried them over to the truck. I asked Pedro if that was theirs, he seemed shocked that I had found them left in the garage. Completely clueless! When we arrived to the house, Pedro seemed more interested in checking out the fish pond than in moving things. We were quoted an estimate of 3-4 hours, they went 6 hours in all. DO NOT HIRE THEM! They completely failed to show up on the day of the move--without any notice or explanation. We received no call, no email, no communication. We had to call THEM to find out what was going on, only to be met with an incredibly unprofessional and dismissive attitude. The woman we spoke to actually laughed at us multiple times while we were trying to get clarity on our move. A few days later, I called to request a refund of our deposit since they never provided the service. Again, I spoke with the same representative, who was just as unprofessional. She claimed that we were the ones who canceled on them (mind you we did call day of the scheduled move when they were over 3 hours late to say "don't bother"). Then she claimed she told us that we were given a time frame window when we scheduled (we were never told this). Do I want to be petty and post her name here? Yep. But I won't. This experience was beyond stressful, disappointing, and completely unacceptable. Avoid this company at all costs--there are far more reliable and respectful movers out there. read more

I made the mistake of not reading the newest reviews. Never again will I hire this company. The movers themselves were fine and curtoious but the way the company runs things is terrible. I had a move window from 1-3 and they didn't show up until after 5. I moved a one bedroom apartment and it took 3 guys about 5 hours which was also insane. Do NOT use services from this company! They charged me $1,200 for a move that was a 5 mute drive. I had already packed everything into boxes and furniture was ready to go for a quick move of bulky items. After loading sofas and my bedroom set, the movers claimed they were done. I reminded them of the televisions that still needed to be moved, but movers said they needed a break and refused to load my televisions. All and all, they didnt finish moving all of my belongings, but charged me $1,200 for the move that they didnt finish. I tried calling customer service, but they wont amswer or return calls. Horrible. Cancelled on us last minute with no apparent rhyme or reason - leaving us with less than 24 hours to find replacement movers (new tenants arriving July 1, we must be out by 12p June 30). Management actually hung up on me and my husband more than once. Took our $500 deposit and said there is nothing they can do. Probably the busiest day of the year to move, we spent most of the day finding a replacement. No one should have to go through this the day before a big move. We will be disputing the charge. We booked them over a month in advance and confirmed a couple days before our move. Unacceptable service, zero accountability. Do not put your trust in these people. read more

The guy I talked to on the phone was really misleading in the price. The guys who showed up were phenomenal. The one guy that decided to make himself their leader was a hug a hole. Super unpleasant to deal with, really arrogant and aggressive. Over charged me even though I and my friends were helping them throughout. Kind of a garbage company. read more

Unreliable and Unprofessional - Avoid at All Costs!!! Our experience with New City Movers was nothing short of a disaster. We were scheduled to move on June 1st between 1-3pm and not only did no one show up but no one even had the decency to call-not before, during, or after our scheduled window. We were completely stranded on moving day with no explanation, no apology, and no follow-up of any kind. This failure left us scrambling to find last-minute help, costing us significant time, money, and stress.It's baffling and frankly unacceptable that a company in the moving business--a business built on logistics and communication--would completely ghost a customer during one of the most time-sensitive and stressful events in life. We gave New City Movers a chance based on their reputation, but this level of negligence and disregard for customers is inexcusable. If you're considering using them, think twice. I scheduled a move for June 3, 2025, I called on June 2, 2025 to confirm pick up time and was told that I was not scheduled, yet I received a text confirming my move. The person with whom I was talking with was apologetic but said there was nothing she could do. I had already paid the move out fee and the move in fees including arranging times for the elevator. Worst possible experience, avoid at all costs. If you have an upcoming "appointment", reschedule now or risk being ghosted. Our appointment was booked weeks ahead for Saturday 5/31, with a $100 deposit paid. We had to call several times during the week asking for information before they finally gave us an appointment time. Moving day comes, and they never show up, never call, never attempt to communicate with us. 5pm on the last day of the month, and we were left with no movers. Thankfully, Moovers Chicago saved the day was able to book us a last minute appointment on Sunday. Otherwise, we would've had no way to get our heavy items out of our unit before the end of the weekend. New City has not returned my $100 deposit, and has ignored several of my calls attempting to have it refunded and I'm now forced to go through my bank and report as fraud. New City Moving is a scam, do not use this company if you would like your move to go smoothly. read more
