Chinese Broccoli with chicken in Oyster Sauce.
    Dan A.

The Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce was delicious. I chose to add chicken. I was pleasantly surprised on how such a simple dish could be so tasty. I got the lunch special which included rice and tea. The dining room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I will go back when in the area again.

Highly recommended bringing cash. I came on a Wednesday evening and was so sad to see that the restaurant was empty besides 1 other party. The staff were nice, quick, and helped recommend items to order but I have been here before it's just been a while. I went with my usually the beef rolls and salt and pepper fried pork chops and rice. Everything came out pretty quickly, hot and fresh, just how I like it. Everything tasted as I remembered but needed a little more seasoning. I wish the beef rolls had more sauce and the pork chops had more salt and pepper but it wasn't bad. Overall a solid quick nostalgic meal.

Peking Restaurant is a restaurant that has been around for literal decades. This Westminster staple has been one of the most consistent mom and pops for the past 30+ years, and I am definitely sad to see it go. This Taiwanese restaurant serves some of the best Northern Chinese food, as all of their noodles, dumplings, and special bun items are all delicious. My favorite item, the Beef Roll, is crispy and flavorful, while I also enjoyed getting the Pork with Peking Sauce and Pancakes this time! Overall, Peking Restaurant is a beloved place that will be missed.

Don't let the outside fool you, as this place has been a staple for Chinese cuisine for many years, serving up a delicious mix of comforting and authentic dishes. We came around noon on a Sunday, and were first in the restaurant. The food came relatively quickly, and the best part is that they still have lunch specials on the weekend (which comes with a delish hot & sour soup, along with the obligatory hot tea). Here's a quick rundown of what we had on our most recent visit: Pan-Fried Dumplings - Slightly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. This was probably my favorite dish, as the wrapper was freshly made and very thin (which is what I prefer) Taiwanese Beef Roll - Tender beef wrapped in green onion pancake with fresh veggies and savory sauce. Really tasty beef, but the green onion pancake was a little burnt/greasy. Chinese Garlic Green Beans - Perfectly fried, topped with some ground pork. Not all chinese restaurants can get this dish right, but Peking did! Loved that it was flavorful, but not overly greasy or salty. Sweet and Sour Pork - Crispy pork coated in a balanced sweet and tangy sauce. It is very sweet (which is to be expected for this dish). While not my personal preference, the others in my party loved it. Pork with Bamboo Shoots - sliced pork pieces sauteed bamboo shoots and mushrooms (oyster?) in a light, flavorful sauce. Good dish, more for my parents than me. Pan-Fried Mixed Noodles (Hong Kong Style) -Crispy noodles with a mix of tender meat, shrimp and veggies (bok choy, napa cabbage, carrots & onions), all in a savory sauce. A perfect balance of crispy and soft textures, and one of my personal favs! Bean Curd with sliced chicken - classic chinese dish with a light sauce. Good dish, more for my parents than me. A solid choice for classic Chinese comfort food. Servers were friendly, but you do need to flag them down from time to time if you need something. Restaurant is a little outdated, but food (which is most important in my book) is still solid. Highly recommend for anyone craving tasty, satisfying Chinese dishes.

Absolutely a hidden gem and must try! Today was my first visit to this family owned restaurant, everything is made from scratch with love and a high attention to flavor and quality! You won't be disappointed, the staff was so kind and friendly making it feel like a second home! We got so many different items and all of them outstanding, I will definitely be back this is one of my new favorites for true authentic Chinese cuisine, well done .

It's been a while since I've been here after moving to L.A., but this is still a great restaurant for great food. It's been around for over 35 years and is a hidden gem. Don't expect a fancy dining experience because it's more about flavor.

Everything was outstanding! Hot, fresh, flavorful, perfect.

My wife and I were looking for good Chinese food and saw all the positive Yelp reviews. Several reviews said this restaurant was closing down soon, so I wanted to try it put. We haven't tried a lot of Chinese restaurants so I can't say it's the best Chinese restaurant but it is definitely the best Chinese restaurant we have been to here in this area. The food here is INCREDIBLE! Everything was so fresh and very flavorful. The chef is the owners 91 year old mother. We fell in love with her food. They are closing at the end of August so I told the owner that she is going to get tired of seeing me because I will be returning frequently for the next 2-1/2 months. Check this place out, you won't regret it.

This is my place to go for fresh & fried dumpling and fried green beans. Technically the old Chinese foods. Everything is homemade and the plates are rather big with decent price. There is only one server that works there for decades, once she gets to know you then you're all set of what good to order for that day. She can be cranky to some but for me she just being herself and she makes jokes too. The place is rundown hole in the wall and if you walk by from the outside, most likely you wouldn't want to come in. But if by chance you do, then you have alot to try. Me and my kid been there for almost a decade now, and will stop by whenever we can or when I'm craving for some goodie Chinese foods. Check it out if you are in the neighborhood.

I was actually afraid to go into Peking because it is hidden in a small shopping center location had a couple of sketchy cars and people. It's also surrounded by construction areas at the moment- so we weren't sure if he was open or not. I was even more skeptical when I saw the outside of the location, and how the signs look- not the best if I'm being completely honest. We walked in, and we're looking around to see if there was someone available and the server was so nice and seemed excited that we arrived to dine in. She was so sweet, immediately sat us down and took our drink orders. She had one other table that was dining in, and they knew each other pretty well. Then our food came and every single thing was AMAZING!!! Everything was fresh, full of flavor, hot, and authentic! Seriously. Give this place a shot. Do not be afraid of the area; or of the dated look. This place is legit. The service is quick, the take out orders are more than the dine ins. I loved it from the beginning to the end and I'm so sad I only went once during my trip- but I'll be back!

    Kung pai chicken

Such a yummy spot! The cook is the 91yr old grandma and she is the best! If you want good pan fried dumplings this is the spot. We also like the green beans, kung pao chicken, walnut shrimp, and hot and sour soup! Go now if you want to enjoy because they care going to retire and the restaurant will close in August

We had a large group for a birthday party. We tried a variety of several dishes. All of them were very good. One of my favorites was the green beans. The service was great. Very friendly workers. The place was busy, but we were not ignored. The prices were very reasonable also. I would definitely go back.

just 3 of many favs--vegetable egg fried rice/noodles, soft tofu w bok choy mushrooms. missing veg dumplings (pan fried and steamed), etc.

this restaurant has always been one of my go-to's, one of my absolute favorites ever, and i'm not even chinese! and i'm also vegetarian! the food is always delicious, and the kind auntie that works there makes it always feel like home. she remembers our orders and faces every time, without fail (at this point, i'm not even entirely sure what the actual names of my regular dishes are on the menu!). i'm genuinely so disheartened to hear the news that they're closing/changing ownership, but they said it's because they want to retire :,) this restaurant is truly so special and so comforting. i rarely write reviews, but i wanted to make sure this was said. long live peking restaurant, you were sososo good to me, my family, my friends, and the community. all the love!!!!!!!

The beef with the scallion pancakes was sooo tender. The cucumber salad was extra refreshing with the perfect balance of savory and tangy. You also can't ever go wrong with spicy wontons, pan fried buns, popcorn chickens, or braised green beans. Yum! Huge bonus: the restaurant is directly connected to Ben Gong's Tea. Mine and my bf's go to are the dry fried green beans, mapo tofu, Chong Qing Spicy Chicken, and Yang Chow fried rice. Green beans are flavorful and crispy as well! Hot and sour soup is HUGE. They aren't consistent in making this because some days it's the perfect balance of tangy and spicy flavor, but other times its tooooo sour. The restaurant is very spacious. It was so good that I came back again a week later! Their $21.99 weekday AYCE lunch is a steal for the quality and variety of food you get! I first came on Friday, July 3rd for lunch, but was charged $31.99, their regular dinner price because they considered it a holiday. Bummer, considering it's not the actual July 4th holiday. You get the same options as you would at $21.99. Drinks are not included at this price. Here's what really draws me to this place. I love that they have two types of lamb to choose from - Aged and Spring Lamb. While I liked both, the Spring Lamb is my favorite. They also offer beef, pork, and chicken that you can order and buffet of raw items to cook and hot items to eat right away. The quality of their food is really good for their lunch price! The options are also great! They had Crown Daisy, my favorite hotpot veggie the first time I came. But the second time I came, it was swapped out to Watercress. While I also love Watercress, I preferred Crown Daisy. The soups are flavorful and has a nice herbal flavor to them, which I love! I've tried House Special Original Broth, House Spicy Broth, and Mushroom Broth. House Special Original Broth is a must, especially if you like that Chinese Herbal flavor profile. Service was friendly both times. They do check on you often, but when they get busy, it's less frequent. I love that this restaurant is huge and clean! The decorations are also very nice - definitely seems like a semi-upscale place. If you like good quality hot pot that doesn't break the bank, come check this place out for weekday lunch! Just don't come during holiday season.

This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Our family joked around and would say let's go to the travel agency restaurant when we had a craving for Chinese/Vietnamese type of food. I recall the food back then was extra tasty and memorable, leaving me wanting to return again and again. However, my recent lunch outing with my girlfriends changed my mind. Our servers were attentive and friendly. I think it helped that my friend was a familiar customer. We came on a Monday afternoon around 11:30 and It was early enough where parking was still available. We ordered the classic dishes, including salt and pepper fried pork chopsand salt and pepper fried shrimp, but the taste this time around left a lot to be desired. These two dishes lacked the crunchiness and flavors that these fried entrees are supposed to showcase. We found the pork chops to be dry and tough, as if it was prepared a while ago and sitting out for some time before it made its way to our table. The shrimp was not impressive either. At least the shaking beef or bo luc lac was good. The beef chunks were tender, and the flavors were on point. Bonus points for the broth that is complimentary during lunch. Also the complimentary orange slices were a nice touch to end our meal. We'd still return for the lobster and noodle when the occasion comes up.
