This is a modest Chinese restaurant with standard decor offering traditional favorites. Foods here a little bit oily for my taste but it's tasty and big portions. I ordered Lu-ee Roll , Roasted beef wrapped in a green onion pancake. Flavor was delicious, and I especially liked the green onions they added inside , I like their make it crunchy outside and still soft when you bites it. The chicken, tofu with bok choy and the fish with black beans sauce both was very tasty but i felt it really oily. Maybe this is also a characteristic of Chinese food. The restaurant looks a bit old inside, but it's clean with very friendly staff. I also like it because the prices are affordable. Plenty parking spaces around! read more

The Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce was delicious. I chose to add chicken. I was pleasantly surprised on how such a simple dish could be so tasty. I got the lunch special which included rice and tea. The dining room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I will go back when in the area again. read more

Highly recommended bringing cash. I came on a Wednesday evening and was so sad to see that the restaurant was empty besides 1 other party. The staff were nice, quick, and helped recommend items to order but I have been here before it's just been a while. I went with my usually the beef rolls and salt and pepper fried pork chops and rice. Everything came out pretty quickly, hot and fresh, just how I like it. Everything tasted as I remembered but needed a little more seasoning. I wish the beef rolls had more sauce and the pork chops had more salt and pepper but it wasn't bad. Peking Restaurant is a restaurant that has been around for literal decades. This Westminster staple has been one of the most consistent mom and pops for the past 30+ years, and I am definitely sad to see it go. This Taiwanese restaurant serves some of the best Northern Chinese food, as all of their noodles, dumplings, and special bun items are all delicious. My favorite item, the Beef Roll, is crispy and flavorful, while I also enjoyed getting the Pork with Peking Sauce and Pancakes this time! After many decades the Peking Restaurant is going to close very soon according to the long time servers. Allegedly the owners put restaurant up for sale, but maybe they have no buyer yet. Since the demographics have shifted to Vietnamese and Koreans in the area, it is likely to become a Vietnamese restaurant. Best to visit within the next few weeks or month before they are gone. Among other dishes, they are known for their pot stickers, boiled dumplings (they also have steamed), and beef roll. Many other traditional dishes on the menu are very good. Don't let the outside fool you, as this place has been a staple for Chinese cuisine for many years, serving up a delicious mix of comforting and authentic dishes. We came around noon on a Sunday, and were first in the restaurant. The food came relatively quickly, and the best part is that they still have lunch specials on the weekend (which comes with a delish hot & sour soup, along with the obligatory hot tea). Here's a quick rundown of what we had on our most recent visit: Pan-Fried Dumplings - Slightly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. This was probably my favorite dish, as the wrapper was freshly made and very thin (which is what I prefer) Taiwanese Beef Roll - Tender beef wrapped in green onion pancake with fresh veggies and savory sauce. Really tasty beef, but the green onion pancake was a little burnt/greasy. Chinese Garlic Green Beans - Perfectly fried, topped with some ground pork. Not all chinese restaurants can get this dish right, but Peking did! Loved that it was flavorful, but not overly greasy or salty. Sweet and Sour Pork - Crispy pork coated in a balanced sweet and tangy sauce. It is very sweet (which is to be expected for this dish). While not my personal preference, the others in my party loved it. Pork with Bamboo Shoots - sliced pork pieces sauteed bamboo shoots and mushrooms (oyster?) in a light, flavorful sauce. Good dish, more for my parents than me. Pan-Fried Mixed Noodles (Hong Kong Style) -Crispy noodles with a mix of tender meat, shrimp and veggies (bok choy, napa cabbage, carrots & onions), all in a savory sauce. A perfect balance of crispy and soft textures, and one of my personal favs! Bean Curd with sliced chicken - classic chinese dish with a light sauce. Good dish, more for my parents than me. A solid choice for classic Chinese comfort food. Servers were friendly, but you do need to flag them down from time to time if you need something. Restaurant is a little outdated, but food (which is most important in my book) is still solid. Highly recommend for anyone craving tasty, satisfying Chinese dishes. read more

We haven't tried a lot of Chinese restaurants so I can't say it's the best Chinese restaurant but it is definitely the best Chinese restaurant we have been to here in this area. The food here is INCREDIBLE! Everything was so fresh and very flavorful. The chef is the owners 91 year old mother. We fell in love with her food. They are closing at the end of August so I told the owner that she is going to get tired of seeing me because I will be returning frequently for the next 2-1/2 months. There is only one server that works there for decades, once she gets to know you then you're all set of what good to order for that day. She can be cranky to some but for me she just being herself and she makes jokes too. The place is rundown hole in the wall and if you walk by from the outside, most likely you wouldn't want to come in. But if by chance you do, then you have alot to try. I was actually afraid to go into Peking because it is hidden in a small shopping center location had a couple of sketchy cars and people. It's also surrounded by construction areas at the moment- so we weren't sure if he was open or not. I was even more skeptical when I saw the outside of the location, and how the signs look- not the best if I'm being completely honest. We walked in, and we're looking around to see if there was someone available and the server was so nice and seemed excited that we arrived to dine in. She was so sweet, immediately sat us down and took our drink orders. She had one other table that was dining in, and they knew each other pretty well. Then our food came and every single thing was AMAZING!!! Everything was fresh, full of flavor, hot, and authentic! Seriously. Give this place a shot. Do not be afraid of the area; or of the dated look. This place is legit. The service is quick, the take out orders are more than the dine ins. Me and family was in the area yesterday and decided to go to the restaurant for lunch, found out that it's there last day in business , sad but lucky for us to have one last chance to eat the food. Since it's the last day they didn't have any dumplings or the beef roll anymore, so we order the eggplant dish, stirfry rice cake, kung pao chicken and salt pepper pork chops. A small restaurant next to the bigger Seafood Paradise with a fairly large menu of Northern China cuisine. We ordered the special lunches, $13 for meats and $15 seafood, beef with Chinese broccoli and Kungpao 3 ingredients, beef, chicken, pork. It comes with hot and sour soup. Portion was generous, very good value, especially when most Chinese restaurants dropped their loss-leader lunch specials after CoVid19. The chef is Taiwanese but he cooks authentic Northern China food, i.e. fresh, natural, no excess spices or sugar. I dined in a few renown restaurants in Beijing and like this cuisine. Peking has been one of our favorite take-out restaurants for the past 3 years, since pandemic. Before that we would go there on the weekend when too lazy to cook. I am so happy that Peking survived the pandemic. And that their food actually has not changed. The flavors and quality is the same as before the pandemic. Some of my favorited dishes is: Cucumber salad - pickled and flavored just perfectly to accompany any of the dishes served. Egg drop soup - we like ours with no meat. peas carrots water chestnuts with egg drop. mmmmm. another must-have for the dinner table. Kung Pao Chicken - it's a classic. If you don't know what to order, you can never go wrong with this. has tons of dry red chilis to Shrimp honey walnut - is also a classic. The shrimp is super plump and tender and has a little snap. Very good with some bok choy and mushrooms. Baby bok choy with mushrooms - another favorite. We never forget our veggies - so healthy for you. Service is always outstanding. read more

This place is CLOSING in 3 months! The owner is such a kind woman. She says the chef is 90 so they have to retire. Come while you can. We always get the potstickers, pan-fried beef wraps and the knife cut noodles. I have been coming here for 25 years and the quality has not changed at all. The dough is hand rolled, thicker skin dumplings. Taiwan style. They have some limited large tables but mostly best for groups of 4. Kid friendly, fast service. This is home style, mom and pop, not your bland chain fare. Very old building so go to the bathroom before going to the restaurant. Check out the Vietnamese drink shops next door for your Che fix. I always like to finish off with the "beauty drink" which has kelp and lotus seeds and is incredibly refreshing after the dumplings. read more

Be careful and pick them out, but gives the dish an amazing added flavor. The Hot and Sour soup was delicious, but I've only had one other place (in Fountain Valley), who has a slightly better one. This definitely comes in a VERY close second. I'm going again today (this is a late review, I forgot)... and am trying to decide what to get!! ONE interesting PSA.... I got off work at 4 p.m. and it's about 15 min away. Unfortunately, they do not open till 4:45 p.m., but "the lady" did answer the phone. They are the real deal. This is a dying breed of wonderful, family owned Chinese restaurants, driven by passion, commitment and hard work, and I am so sad to see they will be changing owners soon. I hope the new owners never change anything! But I know that that is not to be. For years every time we ordered "pan-fried dumplings - and country chicken (not on the menu)", we have happily savored every bite. They make the best, and biggest! Pan-fried dumplings, anywhere! And country chicken is a simple, super flavorful dish with chunks of battered fried chicken with basil, chilies, and salt and pepper. Phenomenal! Not to mention the Chinese vegetables, onion pancake, beef roll, and hot and sour soup. Over happy conversation, and gathering after important life events we looked at each other and said, "this is the best Chinese food ever." I placed a phone order, and one of the main dishes and a drink that I ordered were omitted. So I recommend that if you place a phone order that you make sure to verify what the person answering the phone took down. She seemed to be in a hurry and very distracted. She also spoke very rapidly in heavily accented English, which was hard to understand, and was conducting multiple conversations while taking my order (maybe why some of the things were left out!). The fish was decent, egg rolls ok, dumplings OK, hot and sour soup not especially spicy, but the lo mein tasted like cardboard. They also added a credit card convenience fee to the bill, so while she had quoted me $88 including tax for the items that she heard me order (not including the 3rd entrée or drink) it turned out to be $93. Once again we had the best tasting meal of our trip to LA at the Peking Restaurant. We have enjoyed the superb potstickers and other dishes for the past 37 years. They are wrapped and made in the authentic Northern Chinese style, with twice the size and twice the crispy surface area of other restaurants that simply try to pan fry a regular short dumpling. I found out that the filling ingredients are still chopped by the same 90 year old chef, and she still sometimes cooks at the wok! Northern style dumplings are best enjoyed with a splash of vinegar, which they had on the table along with soy and chili sauces. We also discovered a new favorite dish, chopped long beans and ground pork stir fried with fermented black beans and peppers. The sliced fish and tofu in broad bean sauce was also great. Both dishes I had not seen elsewhere. We got the smaller lunch special size for both and they were easily enough to share. Other standout dishes we've had before include the best basil eggplant -- I used to dislike this vegetable until I had their basil eggplant (for more on this, check www.love2chow.com and search eggplant). The boiled dumpling filled with pork and cabbage, the Chinese chive stuffed pan fried dumpling, sliced fish with special wine sauce and hand made noodles are also delicious. This place has been serving authentic Peking/Beijing homestyle foods for the past 41 years. The decor has not changed much. It is clean, simple and a bit dated, with ample round tables around which to enjoy great Chinese food and conversation. Well come and escape into the wonderful Peking land, where all your worries and fears will melt away ,albiet momentarily. This place is like heaven on earth, literally, since this place has been here forever it must've been started by the Gods. Hopefully the Gods will also forgive me since I've always visited this place and never written a review. Plus, this place is completely "hole-in-the-wall', unassuming, and get down to good eating business kind of place. Just ignore the super dark all tinted windows and eyebrow raising Sundown bar next door. Remember "heaven on earth, heaven on earth". To further guide you peasants into this magical kingdom, I will include my highest recommendation to float you away to heaven. 1. Pan Fried Green Leak, egg and noodle dumpling. 10 stars, refer to my pictures! Trust me, there aren't a lot of pictures because people don't know about this dish and it's weird because it says DUMPLING but it's more like a giant bread pocket/empanada/calzone. It's not the tiny pan fried dumpling you think of when you see this word. This is more like a fried dough filled with crack. The dough is crisp and light, the filling has so much flavor and warmth that you just want to bring this thing home and sleep with it. This item comes with 4 pockets, enough for 2 people to share and leftovers the next day! Easily reheatable in the oven and just as amazing. Total bang for your buck! 2. Pan Fried noodle with hand cut/home made noodles (extra $1). 8 Stars!! This comes with beef and shrimp and some veggies but we sub our the beef with pork. Super chewy noodles, delicious meats and veggies. They fill this dish to the brim so definitely enough for 2 if you're a big eater but since we always order so many dishes, there's always leftovers. Again easily microwavable and taste just as great. Although the longer you let it sit, the noodles do get softer. Good bang for your buck! 3.10 pieces pan fried dumpling. 7 Stars. I don't need to say anything for this one. Most people know about these and just look at all the pictures! Crispy outside skin on the bottom, juicy inside. Those are the top 3 I would recommend right off the bat without looking at the menu. I've tried other dishes such as: pork xiao long bao (4 stars), green onion pancake (5 stars), and salt and pepper pork chop (4 stars). There, I hope you've found a bit of calm and peace before heading back out into this new and crazy world. Also, if you really want to top it off, go down a couple of stores to the Canton Chao Ca Porridge place. They have the most delicious seafood/fish porridge!
