My parents used to buy duck from this place many years ago but somehow started going to Lien Hua instead. Well my husband found this place again on Yelp and asked that I go pick up some roast duck. I got a whole roast duck, 1 lb of spicy pig ear and half lb of chicken feet. The duck was good! Husband thinks it tastes better than Lien Hua. Pig ear is decent too. Not a fan of their chicken feet flavor though, has hints of curry. It's more yellow in color than the red color I'm used to at dim sum restaurants. This has got to be the worst roast duck I've ever had and trust me, I've had millions of roast ducks in my lifetime. I grew up with a great grandfather who ate roast duck weekly if not daily until he passed in 97 at the age of 99. I continued his tradition and eat roast duck every chance I get. Doesn't matter the city, state, or country, I'm trying the roast duck. I use to think 99 ranch and other similar Asian super market roast ducks were mediocre, but this one takes the cake. Meat has no flavor. Skin has no flavor. Juice is super bland. Their dipping sauce has peanuts in it... What!? I've been eating roast duck for more than a third of a century and this is the first time I've tasted a roast duck dipping sauce with peanuts in it. Sorry to say it, but I hope this wasn't a recipe brought down from generations. Their Chinese sausage tasted fine. I knew I should've trusted my gut and keen eye when it comes to food, but I was already eating at a restaurant within the same plaza. My dad called and told my mom and me while we were out Asian grocery shopping in Westminster that he was craving Chinese Style Roast Duck. Thank you Yelpers for recommending New Duong Son BBQ. OMG! We were so lucky that we got the last Roast Duck at 4:30pm. We would have needed to wait another hour or so for them to make more roast duck. I feel so bad that I didn't get the chance to take a photo. Do you know why? The moment we got home, I was like let's see this amazingly recommended roast duck! My greedy little fingers were like I need to grab a piece now and I did. The piece of duck I grabbed was part of the breast area and it was delicious. The skin, which is the best part in my opinion was roasted to the point that it retains some roasted skin textured, not dry or burnt. It was just right and the meat underneath the delicious skin was tender, not chewy. It was really hard not to have my fat girl tendencies come out and finish the entire DUCK. HAHAHA. The whole duck was $24. If you are not used to ordering roasted meats from a Chinese Style BBQ place, here is how you order chicken or duck. You decide if you want a HALF or WHOLE chicken or duck. Then you let them know if you want them to cut your chicken or duck into pieces or want it uncut. If you order roast duck or soy sauce chicken, always ask for extra sauce. You will not regret it. For example 1 half roast duck, cut and extra sauce. This should feed about 2-3 people if you are only having roast duck with rice or noodles. My mom asked for the whole duck to be cut with extra sauce. Why do you want extra sauce? Well, it is fantastic to eat your roast duck over steamy hot rice and spoon that duck sauce/pan roast gravy on your rice or if you prepare yellow egg noodles by boiling it and draining it. You take those cooked boiled noodles, drain it, spoon the duck sauce all over and mix it. That itself is sooo good and eat it with your pieces of duck... it is heavenly delicious. read more

This place is awesome. I called in to order a whole roasted pig. They gave me a quote over the phone and didn't require a deposit. The guy on the phone was very friendly. Because this order was for a special occasion and I didn't want to take a chance... so I came by the next day and put in a deposit. They pull up my order right away and took a deposit. As scheduled, 9am on Sunday, I had my pig:). They brought it out and placed it in the trunk for me. Everyone loves it at the party. The pig was marinated and cooked to perfection. It was supposed to be 6.50 but they said it was 7. Is that including tax? In my honest opinion, they should change the menu to reflect the true price. You can order a whole pecking duck which they have hanging and fully cooked for only $18!! Half a duck is $10 and they cut it up for you. We got a half duck and also bought two packs of buns which you simply have to steam and then they are ready to serve. They make for great mini duck sandwiches!! Come here for the roasted pork! They are one of the best in the area, the skin is crunchy and not too tough (unlike other competitors in the area). It's really just a take out place so buy things by the pound and eat it at home or bring it to a party. They also have roasted duck which is also delicious. They will always try to sell you more than you ask so if you want 2 lbs of meat, ask for 1.5 and you will get your 2. Also be particular with your selection because they may try to pawn off the worst pieces as fast as they can. Overall, this place deserves high reviews because the food is superb. read more

The service is so bad here. I stood in line for 15 minutes and didn't get any help. They ignored the folks in line and seemed to only care about fulfilling the phone orders. What really hit home for me at this place was the customer service. You would think being this deep in Garden Grove would automatically subject you to a rude and inconsiderate atmosphere. They were nothing but polite and courteous, answering every question I had. I even had a chat with the owner for a bit. It looks like they roast fresh pork every night ready to be served right when they open at 9am. Obviously the crown jewel of this place is going to be the fresh succulent roasted pork with the crispy skin. Currently on March 23rd, 2022 it is going for about $15 per lb. They walk you right over to the fresh pork hanging in the window and ask you which part you want! I had them chop up the ribs because that's where all the juicy soft tender meat is at. I just take that shit home with me and I have my own rice and veggies. You might want to consider the 2 or 3 item plate with fried rice if you're just gonna eat it at a table on the spot. Make sure you get the sauce on the side. I assume the duck there is very good judging by how great the crispy pork is, but I haven't personally tried the duck there. I've been to a similar place about 1,000 feet away from this place. However, it was so bad. The meat was all dry and not juicy, the skin was all soggy and not crispy, and the customer service wasn't top notch. I would ask them to give me a certain cut and they would give me a totally different cut. It's the little things that count and I just really appreciate the extra care and details this place had. Got caught up in the IG craze of their Peking turkey offers and decided to try it. The option of bringing your own turkey in to have prepared for you is very ideal, but I was very disappointed to receive my Diestel turkey handed back to me not only cold, but very dry. I assume this may have happened as my bird was on the small side: 11lbs, and perhaps they threw it into the cooker along with the usual 15-17lbs turkeys. My turkey was flavored well, but if it weren't for the side of bao buns, sauce (both purchased here) and slivered green onions which I served the turkey with, it would have been almost inedible. I'm tempted to buy a 17lbs Butterball next year and see if the outcome is different, but that's a lot of wasted bird, if it comes out the same! read more

We found this place and it was in close proximity to us and much more reasonably priced. The location is pretty non-descript at first but the various hanging ducks and meat on display let you know what's up once you get through the door. You could argue there isn't much in the way of ambiance but you shouldn't be coming here for that. The service was good if short but I have to reiterate on the prices. My girlfriend got a roasted duck combo with fried rice and I got the 3 item combo. The portions were generous, the food was excellent, and it was only about $20 for the two of us.
