Finally after trying so many Chinese reataurants I found this terrific and extremely delicious place. I am a huge fan of Chinese chicken eggplant, and the one they make here does the trick. I always read the reviews because I think all those 4+ star ratings on Uber Eats are a lie. All I wanted were some dumplings....and instead I got something majorly deep fried with hardly any filling. I've eaten many dumplings and various places...and I don't know what I received. But they were definitely not dumplings. I love - LOVE - this place. Usually I get take out or delivery, but I've eaten there and if you're not looking for a super romantic location (think: McDonalds-style seating) then that's great too. Onto the food - I can't speak to authenticity, but when I moved to DC from New York I bemoaned the lack of great Chinese delivery upon which I survived many years post-college. Luckily I happened upon Dynasty in Dupont, and have been SO happy ever since. Even after I moved up to Woodley Park, I still get their delivery because it kicks every other place's ass. Cheap, good Chinese food at its best. I was in Washington for a semester and would eat here with my friends at least twice a week. It was great for students on a college budget! My favorites are chicken with eggplants, chicken fried rice, and sesame chicken. If you're a student (show a Student ID), you can get a free coke or soup with your dinner entrée. I'm not sure if this deal is still in place. The owner is also pretty amazing. He's an ethnic Chinese born in Pakistan, and speaks at least three different languages. My friends and I always joked that he has the perfect skill set to work for the CIA. The restaurant is a little small and not really a place to take your family (i.e. there's no service). Ooooeeehhh. I walked by this place many times and one day decided to try the sweet-n-sour chicken on a whim. Wow it tasted fabulous but the feeling I had after the fact was not...very....appealing. I forgot about the aftermath weeks later and ordered the same dish delivered...and yeah, needless to say it had the same effect on my poor insides. Have eaten here about 20 times. Best part of this place is that it is cheap and in the center of Dupont Circle. Other than that, the menu lacks focus with a mix of Chinese, Malaysian, and Singaporean dishes with almost everything tasting like it came out "molten lava" hot level straight out of the microwave. So perhaps this is great for carry-out, but if you are eating inside, expect the food to be much too hot to eat for at least 5 minutes. Flavors are pretty decent so my friends and I keep coming back. The workers are nice and the food is cheap for the area, but the taste just doesn't deliver. Singapore noodles were pretty weak tasting, in fact they were kind of soggy and moist, which was weird. They should also call the dish Kung Pao Peanuts, because there isn't much chicken in there. It also didn't taste like much, which is the real crime. Despite being a white guy who has never been to China, I can comfortably say that this doesn't taste very "authentic". I've been coming here since setting foot in DC. It's relatively cheap compared to surrounding restaurants. Hole-in-the-wall Chinese food, and it's actually quite nice. Not sure how 'authentic' it is, but I'll take it. I've sampled a lot of the dishes on the menu, but I'd say the orange chicken, General Tso chicken, Indonesian fried rice, chicken fried rice, and Mongolian beef are the way to go. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck with the appetizers, so I wouldn't recommend them personally. It's good for groups and the portions are enough to share. Living in the area, I've been going to New Dynasty for a few years now as my go-to carryout Chinese place. That said, I think you have to take it for what it is-a casual, carry-out, Americanized Chinese restaurant. If you're expecting Sichuan Pavilion quality or Peter Chang's authenticity, you will likely be disappointed. However, given the price, I'd say New Dynasty provides quality Chinese food nonetheless. Personally, I would recommend the beef and broccoli and Kung-Pao chicken dishes here (like I said, you come here for Americanized Chinese food) as they aren't overly greasy like a lot of cheap Chinese takeout places but still pretty flavorful. Most dishes either come with white or fried rice (I would recommend the fried rice) and you can also ask them to add Hunan sauce to the dishes if you like your dishes spicy (I almost always do this for the beef and broccoli). Seating inside is pretty limited and can be pretty cramped so I usually only order here for take-out (they also provide delivery service). I usually call in advance and they amazingly have my food ready in the 10 min or so it takes me to walk from my apartment door to the restaurant. They also offer a free soup or soda with your meal if you provide a college ID, which is something to keep in mind. All in all, I would recommend this place if you're looking for a good, no-nonsense Chinese takeout. read more

Needed to find a good halal option in the neighborhood - and the family pick was for Chinese cuisine after being 'kabob-ed' out. We ordered quite a few dishes. Everything has saucy and yum. Was nice to have halal Chinese that was 'authentically American Chinese' and not desi-fied. It's a hole in the wall kinda place - and in the category of halal quick style Chinese- I give it 5 stars!
