General Tso's Chicken, Plain Fried Rice and Steamed Green Beans

This little diamond in the rough is gem to the city of Washington, DC if you have not tried it you are missing out. Their General Tao Chicken is chef's kiss to perfection. I had the steamed green beans and they were cooked just like I like them steam with a snap but not over cooked. Their plain fried rice was flavorful and robust with carrots and green onions and peas. It's a small but quaint place to dine for a special date. The best Chinese take out I've ever had. The service was friendly and quick. Definitely will be back to diamond. Check them out DC you are missing out not to try this place... I will be back on my next visit. Chinese Cuisine at its best!!!

New Dynasty is a great Chinese food spot on P St (Dupont). Since 1992, they've offered authentic and delicious food. I'm always looking for quick spots to grab food, and really enjoyed their veggie lo mein. The service was great, and the manager was very kind. A cute place to come on a date or with friends.

Such a great fast food Chinese spot. It's a small location super casual just a great location to get some Chinese food to go. They do have indoor seating if you'd like to eat there. Various menu options it was hard to choose what we wanted for dinner. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but we went with the more popular basic options since you can't go wrong with lomein and fried rice. We used our student discounts and received complimentary won ton soups, bring your student ID and they will give you the option of a free soup or soda. Complimentary white rice also came with our order. The workers were so nice here and there recommendations did not disappoint. Every dish here was full of flavor and of good quality. Tip: If you enjoy spicy ask for their chili oil sauce it has a great kick!

Ordered my food at 12:08pm, food was done at 12:11pm. First red flag but didn't notice it until I got to the corner and thought about it. I got back to work and started to eat and the food taste bland and old. Shrimp was very chewy and the sauce had no flavor even though I asked for it to be spicy. Even the fried rice was bland and clumpy. Maybe it was left over from yesterday. But will not be going back there.

New Dynasty is a hybrid Halal Chinese/pan-Asian restaurant in the heart of DC right off of DuPont circle. The restaurant is small and cozy, with classic Asian dishes and combos made up of shrimp, chicken, beef or vegetables with rice or lo mein noodles. They also have a variety of special dishes available to order! I tried the chicken lo mein and an order of general tso's chicken. The chicken lo mein was wonderful! The noodles were deliciously elastic, the chicken was tender, the vegetable mix was well-seasoned and everything was generally very good. The tso chicken sauce was nice too!

Not a homerun. The menu was a bit limited, the seating was folding tables and chairs. The king pao chicken was fine, didn't expect it to be served in plastic takeout trays. It was basically non-chain Panda Express... fine... but not really more than fine.

If you like Chinese takeout, Dupont Circle's new Dynasty does a good job. When my family of three did a staycation at a nearby hotel, we ordered pick up via Uber Eats and it was ready within 15 minutes of ordering on a Friday evening. To feed the three of us, we ordered wonton soup, Mongolian Beef, General Tsao's Chicken and Orange Chicken. The three main dishes came with steamed rice. Each was tasty, but the winner was the General Tsao's Chicken. The Mongolian Beef was good, but it was mainly onions with little beef. Service was friendly and prices decent for an expensive city like Washington, D.C.

I used to be a regular at New Dynasty whenever I needed my American Chinese food fix (blame a suburban childhood lol), but in recent years they have raised their prices and, unless I'm imagining it, reduced their portion size. While I don't blame them necessarily, as this may be a response to higher operating costs, this turned me off and drove me to seek out other options. The food is totally fine and the atmosphere is as you would expect for a hole in the wall place, but I have personally turned to other venues.

Ordered takeout from this restaurant and it is pretty affordable. It was my first time trying true blue Americanized Chinese food and I was genuinely surprised to see a Chinese family whipping up such dishes. These are comfort food and although they differ vastly from the authentic Asian food I ate whilst growing up, it is still a good introduction to Chinese American food, and an apt choice for those looking for affordable, casual, and no frills dining in the area.

Ordered dinner via GrubHub. Food came quickly and still hot, which is why y'all get 2 stars instead of 1. But MAN the chicken in my chicken and broccoli was funky. I'm not talking like burnt or cooked to death funky. I'm talking line spoiled and gross and Gordon Ramsey would start using profanities if he saw their refrigeration/preparation of it funky. Great food! Dined in this week with my dad since we were in town. It's great to find halal Chinese places as they are a rarity. I ordered the sweet & sour chicken and my dad ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce. Both were freshly prepared and delicious. Would recommend to anyone visiting DC! read more

Dare I spread the word about this hidden gem? Tucked in the lower level of a P Street townhouse you will find the Chinese food you dream about at 1am when you go to the fridge for a "midnight snack." High quality meats (not that stringy beef you find at Panda Express) and vegetables go into their dishes. The brown sauce is PERFECT! And they will prepare your dish to your specification. Want less sauce? Just ask. Want crispy veggies? Just ask. The decor is basic as basic can be. It's mostly a carry-out. But that's okay. This gem is all about the food. read more

I was a bit skeptical based on previous reviews but I thought the food was great. I only chose this place bc it was the only halal chinese option in the area. The customer service was magnificent, not sure if its because it wasnt busy. They were prompt. They gave us white instead of fried rice but fixed it with extra fried rice, so that was appreciated. We ordered combo Lo mein (delicious and generous portion of each type) Kung pao chicken (a bit too salty but texture was different from others which I thought tasted interesting), shrimp tempura (too fried but it tasted great), shrimp and veggie fried rolls (best rolls ive had at a fast food establishment- maybe it was the shrimp), chicken dumpling (would not recommend the fried type, was more like a wonton barely much chicken), minced chicken corn soup (tasted like egg drop soup with some corn in it so not impressed), beef broccoli (pretty standard no complaints), shrimp with garlic sauce (my favorite dish of the night. Very succulent and tasty), and eggplant with garlic sauce (pretty standard, enjoyed it). Again overall I thought it was a great place. It's basically the best "to go" type of Chinese food place. They served everything on styrofoam plates when you eat in so as a somewhat environmentalist, that bothered me lol. Anyways, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back! read more

This is the first time for me and my wife to DC after almost two weeks in US. We are from Indonesia and craving Asian food. We find on Yelp and found New Dynasty! Surprisingly, it's a HALAL chineese food and they providd Indonesian dishes too like fried rice, thank god! We order Shrimp Indo fried rice, Kung Pao Chicken and Beef something (I forget the name). It's fast and good taste too for me. I will Definitely come back there. read more

In most other places this would be 2 stars, but from the sheer lack of competition in the area (that I have discovered, anyway) this gets a three. It's relatively cheap, not disgusting and walkable from my office. New Dynasty was a decent option for my Chinese food craving, but I found myself wanting more. What's the point of American-style Chinese food if it's not deep fried and loaded with unhealthy sodium? read more

This is my FAVORITE lunch spot. I have formed a serious addiction to the Kung Pao chicken and shrimp with broccoli at New Dynasty. I have been coming here for almost 5 years and they are always consistenly good. I think the food is better here than Meiwah and less expensive. The gentleman at the counter is super nice and always has a kind word. I just love this place. read more

New Dynasty fills the void in Dupont of a neighborhood, hole in the wall chinese joint which can feed you well for very little money. The food is your average american chinese cuisine and it's good for take out only. The general tso's and mongolian beef are both solid options. They have seats, but the basement food-court atmostphere does not create a pleasant eating ambience. The staff are extremely friendly, and have even bestowed a New Dynasty VIP card upon me which makes me feel extremely guilty for only giving the place three stars. Solid american chinese food, and the cheapest you will find within a mile radius, but nothing special or unique on the menu that I have found. But don't get me wrong, I still go here quite often due to the convenience and value. read more

I wanted to like the place. I really did. So much so that I walked a little over a mile out of my way to visit the restaurant. The place looked clean enough, and the service was quick if a bit inattentive. But there' s no excuse for barely luke-warm food (I ate in and both the rice and tofu weren't hot). And worse, the the rice wasn't fresh! In a Chinese restaurant! The two big scoops of rice on the plate actually had some tough/dried bits on the outside edges. I doubt if I'll be back. read more

This place is great, inexpensive, Americanized Chinese food. All of their dishes are affordable but they have a special subset that are even cheaper when you order takeout or eat there rather than order delivery. Also for $2.50 you can add a spring roll and small soup to entrees. Make sure you order from the correct website though as I found another website for them initially than what is on yelp and the menu was different. read more

I'm on a business trip in DC so I've only tried it once, so take my review with a grain of salt. So New Dynasty is only a few blocks from the hotel I'm staying so I give them a try. The food its good, but I was a little disappointed. I ordered orange chicken, chicken see u noodles, and a Thai iced tea. First you can't do a Thai iced tea wrong but you can do them right (if you know what I mean). Theirs was middle of the road. The orange chicken was excellent with the right blend of spicy and sweet. Now the see u noodles were disappointing. I love pad see ew, and although the dish was actually good, it was not pad see ew. The noodles were too thick and wide with not enough chicken. Very disappointing. I guess you don't go to a Chinese restaurant for Thai food. Lesson learned, this place its great for Chinese food not so good for "Thai". read more

2 stars if you are in Dupont and want something close. Otherwise, less. The guy at the counter made suggestions which were "safe" to order, which tells you something. To be honest, the food was "ok", nothing special, but it didn't really seem that clean a place to eat at. I had a meal in Chinatown that I enjoyed a lot more. read more

I ate here while visiting DC for work last week, and it was fantastic. I dropped in on a whim, and I took my order to go. I got the beef with broccoli special and wonton soup. Both were perfect. One negative is that they only have canned/bottled drinks, but delicious food at really, really great prices can't be beat! read more

Wow!!! Wow!!! I have had Asian food all over the world. Damn this was amazing. The Pad Thai amazing. The chicken broccoli amazing. The basil fried rice extra amazing. Winner Winner. Arrived hot and plentiful in 20 minutes. Prices totally reasonable for DC. I don't get this excited about Chinese food but Wow!!!! read more

I'd say it's more like 3.5 stars. I enjoy their Indonesian Fried Rice. Tip: their chicken is way better than their beef. Their beef quality leaves something to be desired. Their hot and sour soup is pretty great too. Overall if you want some greasy Chinese food, this is one of the better places I've ordered from. The delivery woman has been super friendly each time. read more

Had the most amazing General Tso's chicken and fried rice this past Friday, during my visit to DC Memorial Day wknd. New Dynasty was a block or so from my hotel and I walked in and was greeted with that wonderful aroma of the wok sizzling in the kitchen. The gentlemen who took my order was able to accommodate my request for my order of General Tso's chicken to be prepared with boneless white meat. I was more than satisfied with the meal. Will definitely be my first stop after checking in at my hotel on my next visit to the DMV. read more

Yummy delicious food, nice & fresh interior, friendly service, casual setting, and we like their prices! My wife and I are regular. I always get the cashew chicken but my wife is a little more diverse...and she always customize her food here because they allow it. Like today, she got her vegetable Indonesian noodles and specified no msg, no oil, no egg, and then she would add other vegetables to it like bean sprouts and what not. That what she enjoys (being wild in her imagination and having a good cook to cook it for her.) I guess that's why she likes it here so much. Last time she got chicken with string beans and add eggplants to it. There is little extra charge for adding things to your order to make it extra special but she thinks it is well worth it. I will stick to my cashew chicken tho as it has always been my favorite. read more

We were staying at a hotel near DuPont Circle and ordered food to be delivered. We had Wonton soup, Orange Chicken, Garlic Sauce Chicken, Chicken with Cashews and Sweet and Sour Chicken. We also had Lo Mein and fried rice. Everything was delicious!!! Wonderful dinner! It was during a snow storm and the food was delivered timely and was hot! Would definitely recommend New Dynasty Chinese! read more

This restaurant is perfect for those who are looking for quick, delicious asian fusion dishes. It has an added value that is 'halal' for those who are practicing religious norms. This is my 'go to' place to eat when I am in Dupont Circle neighborhood. Food is delish, staff are very friendly and the service is a breeze. Never disappointing. read more

I ordered a surprise dumpling lunch for my boyfriend and I was VERY pleased with the service. Lorenzo was on time, followed the directions perfectly and was excellent in customer service. The duck came in two forms: the breast was extremely tender, and yet very subdued in flavor. The confit leg was "crispy", which was a bit of flavor at least. The tempranillo red wine was the most complex flavor palette during the meal. Service was prompt and professional. The restaurant itself is very Lloyd Wrightesque, lots of wood and geometrics. The 3 rating is for a casual return, but other options exist. (versus 4 for Must Go Back)

I have been eating here for over 15 years. The food is great and they just renovated the restaurant by repainting the walls and adding nice wooden benches along the wall. The food is all Halal, and confirmed by the owner that he gets his meat from Washington Lamb. My favorite dish is the cashew chicken (spicy), Indonesian Fried Rice, Mongolian Beef, Laksa and Hong Kong Noodle Soup with Chicken add extra snow peas/spring onions for 95 cents extra its worth it!!! All the soups are best eaten in the restaurant as they cook noodles with the soup (Laksa and HK Noodle Soup). Food is cheap and the food to price ratio in my opinion is the best in the dupont area. You can get a couple vegetarian tofu dishes for $6.25 and they have a fried chicken special for only 5.95. Both dishes come with white or fried rice no additional charge! Lastly if you are a student you get a free soup or soda with any entree! read more

The food was not great I've had better and the prices are ridiculously high! I ordered a triple delight for 10.95 and it turns out to be a small order and the food was skimp. The small container that it came in wasnt even full The portioning was a rip off!! And the large order cost 15.95 but mind you that those prices are not including taxes. The prices on the menu are way different from what they said on the phone. Ohhh and listen to this, the prices change when u pick up its a certain price but when they deliver the food it's more money for the food plus tip! How busy they are is what makes me give this place 3 stars. Sometime they are overwhelmed with orders and it takes them too long to prepare the food, and it doesn't come out the way it should. They need to develop a better way to handle the rush hours order such as the lunch time hours. After all their food is ok. And it you try it on the less busy hours, it will be so much better read more
