This Illianos is ran by people who are not the original owners, or even Italian. The orders are not made to order...forgetting to add chicken to a pasta dish or not include the rolls. My father had been taken to the ER and after being up all night , he and my mom had spent the day resting. I thought it would be nice for them not to have to make dinner so I ordered from here to have it delivered. My parents are in their late 80s and so I called at 4 PM and was told it would be there by 5:00. At 5:40 it still had not arrived and so I called and was told it would be another 10 minutes as they only had one driver. It didn't arrive until 6:30, a full 1 1/2 hours late!! I called to complain and tell them that this was unacceptable and asked why I had not been called about this incredible delay. While I spoke to a nice woman, she kept putting me on hold to talk to someone else and then coming back to the phone to relay his messages ... what was I looking for? Could he would call me later on in the night?, etc. I don't know if it was the owner or manager but unbelievable lack of leadership and customer focus. Sooooo disappointed. read more

And Slice did try to discuss it with illiano's but they wanted to send us another pizza??? They declined a refund or discount on our next order. Well. Guess what? That isn't going to happen. I've been here a few times and ordered takeout a dozen times. They've never messed up my order and the food is always hot and delicious! The waitresses are so nice and friendly and remember previous conversations when we return! They're really great. I've only water pizza from here and my husband usually get a salad. Salad is always fresh and never wilted or warm! I believe they're made to order to as well. I love being able to customize my pizzas. Today I placed a delivery order for my mother around 4-4:30. No came or call. My mother went down stairs and then back upstairs and called me around 5:30 - 5:45. I called and was told the delivery was on it's way. Mom had already gone back down to wait again . Mom called illiano's again and was told it still on it's way. Well I called at 6:40 and asked them what's going. They put a male on and he rather rudely said that they don't deliver anymore to the address and hung up . I called them back to let them know that whoever the male was, was rude and I was very upset and let them know that my mother is 87 and shouldn't have to wait outside in the cold waiting for food. I was without a vehicle at the moment or I would have gotten like I usually do. This customer service was terrible and I will not give them "ANY BUSINESS" . We should have stuck with Tony's, they have never failed us. BTW we had never ordered from illiano's before. Mom wanted to try it. Authentic Classic Italian. Period. It's been a long time since I have had delicious, basic, Italian treats. Pizza: Truly authentic, flavorful, not drowned in melted cheese, not dripping with oil. The crust a perfect level of crisp and a delicious medium to deliver one of the best red sauces I have ever had on a pie. The toppings tasted fresh and were the perfect compliment for the sauce. Don't get me wrong, there are times I love a pizza just smothered in cheese. But to do that to this pizza would be a travesty. If you're looking for a hero, grinder, submarine, hoagie, of the Italian variety then Illiano's is a must stop if you are in North windham. The grinder rolls are made fresh daily and the seeded roll puts any sandwich over the top. You won't find breaded veal patty here. No sir, that's real veal, tender and flavorful with just the right amount of sauce. Usually a grinder is just a grinder is just a grinder. What a pleasant surprise, I'm very skeptical about Italian food in the area as most don't live up to my standards. Illianos really surprised me. We walked in and the restaurant was empty, we sat down at a table and were given menus. As we took a look at the menus we were given a slice of pizza to sample! It was just sauce and Romano cheese on it no mozz but it was delicious. Freshly baked bread was brought over and the waitress took our order. The bread came with a container of what looked like olive oil and red pepper flakes at first. My boyfriend and I both tried it with some bread and omg it was delicious! The waitress said it was a mix of sun dried tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and some secret ingredients. So good! Our entrees came with a nice house salad, the usual tomato cucumber and greens. Then came dinner! Immediately I could tell that this was freshly made and I was so excited. My boyfriend and I both got the chicken parm, the chicken was nice and crispy and THIN. I can't stand when chx parm is this big thick piece of chicken. Sauce was great, another thing you can tell was house made. Overall great impression, I'll be back soon for pizza, grinders and spaghetti and meatballs. I want to try it all now! We were also given a big bag of fresh bread to have with our left overs! Ordered a shrimp, spinach, bacon and a plain cheese on the app just after 6pm and it said my order would be ready between 6:21 and 6:36, so I soon headed over and as I arrived in the parking lot, the app said my order was ready for pickup. I went in and told one of the girls working the register my name, and she said rather flatly "It's not ready yet." I showed her the phone app message at which she stared blankly for a moment and went about her business. So, after another 15 minutes, I received my order and went home. Upon opening the box and trying to get two shrimp slices onto my plate, a very strong garlic smell came up and all the cheese and toppings slid off my slices back into the box. I immediately could tell there was way too much garlic on the pizza but scooped the whole mess back onto the slices and sat down to try it anyway, which I would now have to do with a fork and knife. Now, I love garlic, don't get me wrong but....When I say there was a LOT of garlic on this pie, I mean it was like a 1/2 a head of garlic or more on just the two small slices. The smell and taste overwhelmed the pie, pretty much making the shrimp and spinach if not pointless, an afterthought at best. I had two slices if that and gave up on it. Just a sloppy pie with no thought put into balancing it out. Next up was the plain. Nothing special about it, honestly. The lack of piles of garlic on it let me taste the crust this time, which was bland and tasted processed and flavorless. Now, listen. I don't expect a gourmet experience here. But, I would like management to maybe read this review with a critical eye and ask themselves if they can do better than what I have described. As it is, I likely won't return to this business. This was my first and probably last time. Because, let's face it; in this economy, or really any economy, we should spend money on places that respect us enough to consider the final product they are putting out. Food was below average considering it took about 2 hours to make 2 completely cold grinders. The staff was constantly complaining amongst themselves directly in front of customers. There were more people waiting for far over due pickups than people dining in the facility. They spent more time worrying about DoorDash not showing up to pick up their orders, than they spent tending to customers who were just there to pick up their orders. They seemed to be stressed & at the very least unorganized. Clearly there needs to be more efficient management and much more training for everyone. It wouldn't be a bad idea to hire at least 1 or 2 more people to streamline service. The place was clean & it looked like your average pizza restaurant. I hardly ever complain & I'm patient. But after sitting there for almost 2 hours for 2 cold grinders, I downloaded the yelp app. They weren't rude at all, just stressed out & disorganized. Personally I didn't even like the turkey grinder I got in the end, so we won't be returning, but I wish them the best, & hopefully they'll find ways to improve the things I've touched upon. read more

Ordered food did not get what I ordered. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger. I asked them if they used frozen patties or they were fresh. They told me fresh it was a frozen patty. They put lettuce tomato and American cheese on it. I told them I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger. They said American cheese, and Swiss are the same. I did not want lettuce tomato. nor was it on their menu that it came with the burger. I ordered chicken noodle soup. We order here at least once a week. We had friends over last night and ordered a lot of food for delivery. All of it was wrong. The worst was my daughter ordered buffalo salad with no cheese (she is allergic) and the buffalo sauce on the side. We received a chicken Cesar salad with cheese and Cesar dressing on it. Our friend is a vegetarian as ordered a veggie sub. It was received with chicken. My wife ordered a Stromboli with pepperoni and cheese. It was received loaded with stuff. My daughter ordered stuffed shells and they were way under cooked and inedible. They took an hour and a half and delivered us another salad. What a waste of money. This is the second time in the past couple weeks they have made a mess of our order. Done with this place. read more

I've ordered here a few times and have been disappointed every time so I won't order from here again. The food lacks any flavor. I have ordered delivery pizza from here and received pizzas covered in completely raw flour on the bottom. Most recently we ordered delivery which was delivered to the wrong address even though I spoke with the delivery driver myself and told him which house was ours and that my husband was waiting outside for the delivery. I ordered a veggie sub with cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, peppers, onions and pickles. My sub came with just cheese, tomato and lettuce and nothing else, not even Mayo it was just on dry bread. Braved Walmart 4 days before Christmas and decided to try Illianos across the street. Place was empty as expected at 2 in the afternoon but started to fill up with a few people a little later. Take out business seemed brisk. We were greeted promptly once we sat down. Ordered drinks and garlic bread with cheese. Regular bread was provided with butter and dipping sauce in a take out container. Seemed a little strange but the sauce was okay but was hard to get much more than olive oil out of the container. Garlic bread arrived nice and hot. This was one of the highlights of our visit. Plenty of garlic and cheese on a nice fresh seeded loaf of bread. Ordered chicken francaise (lunch portion) and veal Parmesan (dinner portion). Salad was included with the veal. Ordered with extra blue cheese. Had to ask for the salad and when it came it was very wet and no extra blue cheese. The blue cheese really wasn't very good, runny and no real flavor. Meals arrived, both being very hot and smelling promising. Chicken looked more like a dinner portion but tasted wonderful and was the second highlight of the afternoon. The veal however was a total disappointment! Should have been labeled veal steak with sauce and cheese. It's the first time I have had to use a knife to cut veal parmigiana and had to fight with it when I did it. The meat was tough and not very good. The dish came with spaghetti which could have been cooked for another minute or so. And the sauce had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite identify. Service was okay but not outstanding. Whether we go back to this location or try their other location will remain to be seen. Really disappointing given the rave reviews I hear the Colchester location gets. read more

I tried Illianos a few times. One time I received minestrone soup which is vegetarian and it had a chunk of meat in it. The owner told me that could never happen. But it did and he ignored my issue. On that same order, I ordered eggplant Parmesan with angel hair pasta, and the pasta had not been drained so the whole plate was full of water making it inedible. Sucker that I am, recently, I ordered a meatless grinder and the owner called to confirm what I wanted on it and I told him, and when I received the grinder, everything on the grinder was inedible. The lettuce was old and the tomatoes were mushy. I had asked for red roasted peppers and got something completely different. When I called the restaurant, I spoke to the owner and asked for my money back and he went crazy. He repeatedly said he wasn't refunding my money, that he prepared the grinder himself and I was a liar, he got more and more furious, calling me a liar over and over and then he said he was going to put my head in a bag. He repeated these comments several more times then said he was going to deliver another grinder himself. I should've called the police at that point and I'm sorry I didn't. But I will never go there again and neither will any of my friends once they've heard my story, which I tell frequently because it is a terrible way to treat anyone. read more

When we came in, the tables were all pretty dirty and bits and pieces of food littered the floor. The waitress did eventually clean the table we sat at, but I spent most of the meal trying not to put my feet into the previous person's dirty food pieces, which were still all over the floor. To make matters worse, the table we sat at kept tilting back and forth, despite our best efforts to balance it. So, first impression was not so good, to say the least. We ordered a pizza and two drinks. Nothing fancy. Just a medium with onions, mushrooms, and olives. It came out, and the mushrooms were from a can, and the onions were huge, thick, raw chunks instead of being chopped up or (at the least) slivered. The pizza appeared to have very little sauce, and was almost tasteless. The crust was nice and thin and crispy, but also lacking in flavor. We ate two slices and then left the rest, which didn't seem to disturb the waitress. After some frantic gestures on our part, she finally brought the check and then took off for parts unknown, despite the fact that it was 2:30 and we both needed to be back to work. So in addition to everything else, service was pretty sub par. It's rare for me to be so negative about a pizza place, but it was pretty bad. I'm only giving a two star because they are somewhat new and maybe there's a learning curve. Also, for $30 (total), I was expecting something a bit more tasty. I have eaten here on a few occasions now. Twice I've sat down and eaten pasta in and some times I've taken pizza out. I like the pizza, but have been disappointed by the pasta. I had spaghetti marinara and tortellini Alfredo. The marinara was too heavy and rich for my taste and the Alfredo sauce runny. It was like I had ordered tortellini in soup. Way too much sauce and hot thick enough to cost the tortellini. I found the lighting a little bright for evening dining and the wait staff 'ok'. Music was nice and st a good level for the amount of people in the room. The portions are larger than they need be. I would have preferred spending $12-$14 and getting less food and maybe a breadstick. I ended up taking half my meal to go, and you know Alfredo in never good heated up the next day. What happened to this place? It's been just under a year since we have been here, not for any reason other than not in area. Used to frequent often since it opened, and enjoyed it. Friendly and good food. This time around was different. Atmosphere/tv. Sat down to find they have no liquor license for beer/wine. Not the end of the world, but expected to have a glass. So water and iced tea it is. Upon my wife biting into 1st half of burger, which was from frozen variety, bit down on something very hard to where I could hear it, chipping the inside of her tooth. Summoned waitstaff to situation and end result was "sorry, I took 20% off". No other concern from anyone else, which was bothersome. Sent rest of her meal away and I wrapped mine, paid bill(with tip), leaving my email on signed receipt with brief description. Will update if there is a response but doubt it.
