This is actually my second time visiting New Ethic, and I wanted to share what a great experience I had (once again)! Recently having gone back to a Plant-Based lifestyle, I was craving a good pizza yesterday. I placed my order online for future pickup, then arrived a few minutes early to pick it up. My order was ready at a reasonable time, but the only slightly bothersome part of the (very short) wait was the fact that they were playing death metal in the background...not my cup of tea, but each to their own. I received my order, which was still piping hot when I arrived home. The Snapcase Pizza was great, a sauce base of Buffalo and Boss sauce mixed, topped with Chick'n and Vegan Cheese. Perfectly cooked crust, and just the right amount of topping. The House-Made Vegan Mozzarella Stix were surprisingly good! Cheezy with a stretch, and a nice crispy breading. The May-Wah wings I ordered with the same sauce blend as the pizza, Buffalo and Boss sauce mixed. They were good, but slightly mushy. I also wish they came with more than two celery sticks! The dipping sauce was really good too! Next time I think I'll try the Jackfruit wings. Anyway, I had a great dinner thanks to New Ethic, and will definitely be returning soon! New Ethic is now sharing space with 2 Ton Tony's Pizza, right around the corner of the building from their original space. This goes back to their origins in the days of their pop ups. I just tried the new location for the first time. The pizza was excellent, a true Italian pizza. This is one of the best crusts I've had in a long time. I built my own with red sauce, mushrooms and red peppers. I liked the new location and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu may have changed a bit but the food quality is still the great quality we've always gotten at New Ethic. The best news is the hours have expanded! it's now open 6 days a week and open for lunch. I'm so happy to have high quality vegan pizza so close to home. read more

An entirely vegan establishment that not only offers pizzas, but also wings, and several desserts + other insanely delicious vegan items ? YES PLEASE. I've been here a dozen times now, so (y)um yeah ? I guess it's time for a review ! Let me start off talking about the wings because they are my FAVORITE of life. I'm talking about the May Wah wings (haven't tried the jackfruit wings just yet)... and even more specifically, the goonie sauce .. it's a MUST and SO good ! *chefs kiss* Pizza wise, I'm obsessed with Iggy Popeye (white pizza with artichokes, spinach, tofu ricotta and white sauce), and the Gorilla Biscuit (blush sauce with onions, banana peppers and meat crumbles). I cannot wait to try several others ! My husband and I had recently moved to Rochester and we're excited to find some vegan pizza in the area, having come from Boston which had PLENTY of options. We decided to try New Ethic, and got two different flavors in our pies. They were good. But man, a few hours later both of us were raving to the bathroom with crazy GI (diarrhea) symptoms. And this had been the only thing we'd eaten that was unusual. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, and left two slices that I said I'd try again in the morning. Well, the same thing happened. I'm really bummed that things had to go that way. But meh. I don't know if I'm willing to risk GI issues for some vegan pizza. read more

The first time I visited New Ethic was on a Saturday evening and it was very crowded when I went. I was told when I was placing the order that it would take an hour and a half so I gave them my phone number and told them I'd walk around. The second time, I ordered online and picked it up. We ended up eating there but ordering ahead definitely saved us time. Do yourself a favor and order ahead :) The menu is full of some really creative and fun pizzas! It took me a while to figure out what i wanted to order. I got an antipasto pizza with mushrooms added. The pizza was super delicious. The toppings were all wonderful; I loved the flavor combination. The pesto was also delicious. It didn't overpower the other flavors but I could still taste it. I was extremely delighted by the amount of toppings; toppings for days The second time I ordered one pizza with pink sauce, mushrooms, onions and olives (I call it the MOO) and one plain cheese pizza with extra cheese. The amount of toppings I got was perfect; too little toppings is probably my biggest pizza gripe. The garlic knots were soft, not too oily surprisingly. They were delicious. I didn't like the texture of the sauce that came with it. It was too solid to dip into. The knots were really good on their own. The wings were soft and tender. The texture of the jackfruit was really consistent through out which I was surprised about after my jackfruit cooking experiences. The breading was perfect. The sauce was so delicious! it had a little bit of heat to it and a yummy flavor. I look forward to trying the other different sauce options. There's not a lot of seating at New Ethic. I usually sit at the counter; it's comfy. The interior is well lit with cute decorations at the tables. I love that they have arcade cabinets. I found their inclusion signage welcoming. I adore New Ethic and I can't wait to order from here again :) read more

I went to Rochester for the day, I traveled from Buffalo so I looked up vegan restaurant I was excited about the menu and read the reviews, so got there and it was really nice inside and the staff was very friendly! I tried the jackfruit with and the buffalo chickpea pizza. I really wanted to love the wings, but they were not right the jackfruit was not seasoned and it was to much breading around them with also no flavor it was more like a hush puppy. But the pizza was really good... I will definitely go back to try something else on the menu! read more

I'm vegetarian and was super excited to try this place. They've only been open for like a week, and they don't open until 4pm on the weekdays. I called around 4:15 and ordered, and they said it would be about 30 minutes. I tried to order online, and it said the store was still closed. I think they're still working out the kinks. My order really took about 45 minutes, but it was totally worth it! Everything on the menu is vegan, which is awesome because I can eat anything they have! I wanted the wings though, so I ordered both kinds to try them. The jackfruit wings were breaded, and I really, really, really loved those. The may wah wings look like they're on a bone. They were also really good, and if I hadn't had the others, I'd have probably loved them, too. I just liked the breaded ones a lot better. I didn't like the sauce I got on the may wah ones as much either. I ordered boss sauce on those, and monster squad on the breaded ones. I really liked the Monster squad sauce. I would stick to buffalo or monster sauce going forward. The sauce on the jackfruit ones was too sweet for me. My husband (a meat eater) also tried them both and liked them both. And he liked both sauces. I will definitely be back again for more! I used to live near here, so I'd have been here all the time. But it's totally worth going out of my way for. And there's lots of parking. It's at the front of the DMV building. 2 Ton Tony's is around to the side, so it was a little confusing for me. And if you walk through the building, the door was locked. So go in the front outside entrance. And I'd call and order ahead or you'll have to wait a bit. **Edited to add, I had the wings mixed up. The may wah ones look like they're on a bone. I corrected it above. I had them both again, and tried the santa carla sauce on the may wah ones this time. They were still too sweet for me. I think the wings themselves are just sweeter than I'd like. The jackfruit ones were still amazing though. We also got a chik'n caesar panini. It was ok. The cheese was really good, but the bread was a little hard for me, and I didn't love the chicken. It was fine. I just wasn't crazy about it. The husband who runs 2 Ton Tonys next door is a very nice guy (he helped me find new ethic pizza because its difficult to locate in the building). But unfortunately me and my husband were very disappointed in the Vegan wings, they had no flavor, as if the wings arent marinated and instead the sauce is just tossed on after they are cooked, they also had a weird texture.. We usually get our Vegan wings from the Irondequoit Beer Company and they are phenomenal!! read more

I love eating New Ethic pizza! I am a fairly frequent customer of this all-vegan pizzeria and I have tried several of their unique and creative pies - my favorite is the Snapcase. The online ordering system through their website is super easy to use, but it is important to note that it is only functional when they are open (you are not able to order ahead if they are closed) - no problem. I have seen people on Yelp comment on the wait time when dining in, and I can say that when they first opened, they were incredibly busy and, as a result, the wait time was pretty long. However, since COVID-19, I have had zero issues ordering and picking up my order in a timely manner - it is usually ready in 20-30 minutes, which I think is a really quick turnaround for pizza. If you are a vegan or are curious to see if a vegan pizza can really taste good, I would definitely recommend New Ethic. You will not be disappointed. read more

New Ethic bravely fills a niche needed in the Rochester area - vegan pizza, calzones, wings and other specialty items. While a bit on the expensive side, I am happy to pay for quality vegan cuisine when I have that hankering. Their crust is a unique texture, the kind you either like or don't, but their wildly creative combinations and toppings trumps that for me. Such a great small family business. Great food and even greater people! So glad to have a fully vegan pizzeria in Rochester. I'll admit, I've only had a couple of different items from their menu and I definitely need to start trying more, but everything I've had has been delicious. So happy that this vegan pizzeria opened up in Rochester. Online ordering is easy, and opens up when the store opens. I do wish that an order could be placed before the store opens to pick up later, but everything worked out. The pizza was amazing and I would definitely eat it again. We tried the Buffalo chickpea and tomato pie. We also tried a vegan garbage plate, which was delicious. I wouldn't mind some "meat" sauce on top, though. I'm always excited when an all-vegan restaurant opens its doors. New Ethic Pizzeria is off to a promising start, and if they fix a few hiccups, I'm sure that they'll be wildly successful. I love the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. They have a prominent sign that states that they gladly serve all immigrants, religions, ethnicities, genders, etc. A nice touch! I also enjoyed the old wedding photos on the wall (I assume that they were relatives of the owner, though I don't know). And the two staff members who served me were both very polite and friendly. I came in to order wings, seasoned French fries, and garlic knots for take-out. Overall, I was happy with my experience, and I hope the restaurant succeeds. I do have some suggestions for the owners (see below), but I'm not going to deduct any stars from my review. I believe that the issues I encountered were just the signs of a new business trying to get off the ground. When I came in, the restaurant didn't seem very busy, and no-one else was waiting to get take-out. But the wait time was longer than I would have expected. I think it was about 40 minutes. And there seemed to be quite a few people working in the kitchen, so I'm not sure why it took so long to get my food. I ordered May Wah wings. I like hot, spicy stuff, so I ordered the wings with "Venkman" Buffalo sauce, made with ghost peppers. I was expecting the wings to be quite spicy, but they were actually pretty tame, and they didn't have any visible sauce on them. Maybe they were basted with sauce before they were cooked? I dunno. Nevertheless, the wings were pretty good (if a little bland), and I enjoyed them. The texture was perfect, and they were filling. I also ordered a side of a different kind of wing sauce - I think it was the Monster Squad, but I'm not sure now. It came in a little plastic container with a lid. The sauce had a thick layer of oil floating on top of it, with just a small amount of actual sauce on the bottom. The sauce was OK, but I think the oil-to-sauce ratio needs to be adjusted a little. Actually, I would prefer no oil at all, just the sauce itself - but that's a matter of taste. The garlic knots were a little too dry and chewy for my taste. And they didn't actually have any detectable garlic flavor. They just tasted like chunks of unflavored pizza dough. The clamshell container did have some liquid "butter" on the bottom of it, but it didn't really stick to the knots. The side of marinara sauce was good, but I think the amount of sauce was too small for the volume of garlic knots. Maybe double or triple the amount would have been good. The seasoned French fries had a nice flavor to them, but they were a bit soggy. That could have happened because they were in a closed clamshell container, so maybe they were giving off some steam during my drive home. Maybe if I had dined in, then the Fries would have been crispier. Or maybe they just need to be cooked longer - I don't know. The young lady who took my order was very nice and polite, but she talked so quietly I had trouble hearing her. My wife asked me to bring home some mozzarella sticks, but the restaurant had sold-out of them. This was my first visit to New Ethic, and I had a little bit of trouble finding them. I wonder if they could post a larger sign on the side of the building that faces Hudson Avenue. New Ethic has a website, but I don't see the business hours listed, and there is no on-line menu to view and/or download. I know that there are some photos of the menu on Facebook, but it would be nice to have a PDF to download. The background music in the restaurant was some kind of punk or heavy metal. The volume was set fairly low, but I wonder whether a different sort of music might be more conducive to creating a relaxed atmosphere. I wish that they were open on Sundays in the early afternoon, so that I could order vegan food for football parties. I don't mean to sound too negative. I wouldn't have written such a detailed review if I didn't think the restaurant showed great promise. We need more vegan restaurants in Rochester! I've heard good things about the pizza at New Ethic, so I'll try the pizza the next time I go. Good luck to the owners! I wish them fantastic success with their new business. I've been here four times including just this past week. Let's start with the good. The wings, the plates, and the pizza are really good. You can see the kitchen staff from where you eat. It's nicely decorated, clean, and pretty much what you would expect from a small pizzeria. The composting and thoughtfulness about waste is really nice to see. The not so good: it's confusing. It is not clear where you should place your order. The queue starts to wind through the tables. This makes for an awkward situation for those sitting and waiting at the tables. Not eating, but sitting and waiting because that is what you will do for between 45 minutes up to an hour plus no matter what you order. When the food does come out, despite giving your name at the time of order, they sometimes place the wrong order on the table without using the name. Why take the name if you're not going to use it and just guess who got what where? It would be much better if they called the names of the orders or put some kind of a numbered place card at each table so that after the long wait, you get what you were actually waiting for. The restaurant is only open four days a week from 4 to 8:30 or 9pm. That's it. Sunday is one of the days they are not open. Why???!!! I'd like to see this place survive because it is the only all plant based pizza in Rochester - and possibly for 100's of miles around, I don't know. But no matter how good the food is, and it is good, the wait is too long. It is honestly the main reason I don't go more often. That and usually they are closed. Especially on Sunday. read more

I'm so happy that New Ethic is a brick and mortar restaurant now! The food is great, and the restaurant itself has a kitchy 50's vibe with the mint green walls and black and white tiling. I also admire the welcoming of all demographics, especially those marginalized. Kudos for that! I'd like to address the 2-star review, in which someone wrote that the wait was long. There was a lot of excitement when NEP opened. My boyfriend and I ordered online on the opening night, and we waited an extra 30-45 minutes after our expected time. One of the staff apologized profusely on multiple occasions. Honestly, I was so happy about the new business that I didn't mind the wait. Restaurants get busy at times. That's a good thing! Also, there is no need for the name calling of staff. That is immature and catty. I would recommend working in a restaurant for just one month to understand what the staff experience. (No I don't work for NEP. I'm just a fan who likes cheering on delicious vegan food!) I know I didn't actually talk about the food. Just go there, even if you're not vegan. Made the drive from Buffalo for this place and was not disappointed! I got the Buffalo chickpea pizza and mozzarella sticks. Both were incredible! I heard they sell out of the mozzy sticks often so I made sure to order ahead right before I started my drive. When I arrived everything was hot and tasty. My only regret? I should have gotten a large pizza instead of a small because it was that good. Can't wait to come back and try some more pizza and those garlic knots. read more

I am so sorry to write this review because we love the morals of New Ethic and are always happy to support a fully vegan restaurant in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, we ordered online from New Ethic this evening and manually selected all of the toppings we wanted and when we got home and looked at the pizzas, they had a topping that wasn't selected. My partner called them to let them know and they said there was nothing we could do. So now we paid $84 dollars for 2 pizzas and 3 orders of fries (including a $12 tip :) and can only eat the fries. I wish everyone at New Ethic all the very best and have been kept abreast of the owner's health concerns and am very sympathetic, but I am also so disappointed in this level of customer service. read more

Ok, so yes, this is a vegan restaurant. Still, I had to give it a try. I must admit, vegan food food has come a long way. To start, I had garlic knots and the cheese sticks. The knots were savory and well...garlicy, which I love. The cheese sticks were pretty good. They had a very faint taste of coconut (probably Daya cheese) but for the most part, barely noticed it when dipping them into the garlic parm sauce I got on the side. For my entree, I got the Chik'n Bruschetta pizza. Its a white pizza with vegan chicken, bruschetta and a balsamic reduction. I did add fresh basil to complete the dish. With the exception of the "chicken" texture, I wouldn't have noticed this was vegan. To note, the chicken tasted savory and the texture exception was just that when biting into it, it was softer than say biting into a grilled chicken strip. Not a deal breaker and not even an issue but just had to mention it in case someone is expecting this to be indecipherable to real meat. Overall, the food was flavorful, definitely enough left to have food the next day. Especially if you have hangups on the idea of vegan food with meat substitutes, I advise to give this place a try; it might surprise you. read more

Those wings are great! And the pizza flavors are unique, whick I like as I am an adventurous eater. Hours are a bit strange, but can easily be worked around. I especially like the little touch of multicolored carrots included with the wings. The price is comparable with pizza places around town for specialty pizzas, so it's not cheapest, but than again that's not the point. read more

Not just slow service (meaning 1hour 20 mins) but completely unapologetic. There were four of us. We all ordered individual 10" pizzas. two of ours came after a 48 minute wait and twenty minutes after we finished eating them the other two people finally got theirs to go after constantly asking what was going on. One person had additionally ordered a Caesar salad. Since the rest of us were done eating and they were still waiting for their pizza They asked if they could at least get their salad while they continued to wait for the pizza. the clueless counter girl remarked "it will come out when it's ready... " this after 45 mins!" The girls at the register are either airheads or completely untrained. They seemed clueless. The kitchen staff only steps away from the acknowledged nothing. The pizza was decent for the two vegans and two not vegans who ate there. The experience was however awful and we won't return. You might be stumbling to figure out how to run a new restaurant but being completely void of any reasonable customer service is unacceptable and a guaranteed that your venture will fail. Very yummy pizza (beware the spicy ones... they are HOTTT), but the setup inside is ridiculous. We were kept in a 6' x 6' corral waiting for our order (which took considerably longer than estimated, which is fine- times are crazy, I get it), but the ENTIRE restaurant was unused and at least 5 people were in that teeny, tiny spot. I appreciate the COVID caution, but it was strictly to keep staff far far away and did nothing for customer safety. There were many simple adaptations that could've been made to make it so that I wasn't standing on top of a stranger while waiting for my food. read more

Drove an hour and a half to come here and was very pleased! As someone who is vegan in central/ upstate New York there are not many vegan options around so an all vegan restaurant is very exciting! I brought my father who is not vegan and he had the antipasto pizza he said, "It is WAY better that the non vegan pizza I had last week". I had the buffalo chickpea pizza, the jackfruit wings and the mozzarella sticks all were very very good! The atmosphere was very welcoming and nicely decorated! So I'm not from Rochester originally bit of the garbage plates I've tried hands down that was the best! Their Mac salad is intoxicating, I don't even like Mac salad. As a non vegan, but who eats majority dairy free, I can't even begin to express how amazing New Ethic is! Their pizza selections are incredible (build your own option is my favorite), and their menu is pretty extensive to other options beside pizza, like wings, subs, etc. And not to mention, the tofu ricotta is the absolute best!
